I am having all kinds of problems after I transferred one of my websites to Hostgator from WA hosting. I have spoken to WA support and they claim the domain is now pointing to
Anyone verify the actual entries in the DNS server itself?
When I configure a server on a network I have to add an entry about the server inside the DNS server it attaches too.
Just a thought
Turns out this is a problem with my internet service provider. They say it is internet cache. I have spoken to them and they can't do anything about it so I am moving to another provider.
Thanks for your input.
Cheers Kev
One domain name is already pointing to HostGator http://wealthyretirementwithkev.com/ but there's no content on it.
Did you back up your websites and save them on your computer? Full Backup With a Plugin You have 2 websites and HostGator will only move one for free. Do you need help with the second website? http://wealthyaffiliatetv.com/move
actually, Hostgator will move two for new customers, they confirmed this.
I have backup my site and just need to logon the new site and restore
but I cannot logon
Do you have the NEW username and password for http://wealthyretirementwithkev.com/ ? In your browser type in http://wealthyretirementwithkev.com/wp-admin That will take you to the dashboard.
I used KProxy and was able to sign in. This tells me there is a cache problem. It there such a thing as Internet cache?
Cheers Kev
Perhaps the problem is with your internet service provider. I'm so glad you're able to log in now.
I can login but still haven't overcome the problem. Spoke to my internet provider and they claim there is nothing they can do.
Thanks, at least I can setup my site.
Cheers Kev
Kev, This may not be related but could the internet attacks that happened yesterday and today be slowing down the part that makes things functional at your new host? Perhaps somebody knows about this.
Barbara
I saw the notice on Hostgator yesterday but they said it was resolved. Their chat support didn't like it was an issue. Cheers Kev
Basically, you're dealing with DNS caching issues.
To acces your site on hostgator I would try to use another browser you have never used before or try deleting all of the old info out of your current browser.
Domain names are mapped to ip addresses. Browsers, computers and even ISPs cache this information so they don't have to look up the right ip address every time a http request gets sent to the server your website is hosted on. How To Check Your DNS Search "DNS" in the WA toolbar and you'll find more training.
Thanks, Thomas, I hear what you are saying and I agree. But I get the same result on my phone so that tells me is has nothing to do with cache in my browsers or laptop.
I have tried all browsers in incognito, have deleted all history (cache) in the browsers. I have also done a DNS flush on my computer.
I am at the stage where I cannot think of anything else. All the support people are saying everything on their end is OK.
I even contacted my internet service provider to see if they could help, spent hours with Hostgator support and a list of emails with WA support.
Cheers Kev
I don't know when you changed the name servers but It will take a good 24 hours before your website will be fully propagated.
It has been well over 24hrs now. They quote 24-48 hrs. WA support claims it has already been changed.
Cheers Kev
Have you tried speaking to Hostgator customer service, they may be able to help, maybe it's something on their side.
Also, from my understanding, it can take a day or two for it to properly transfer over, so maybe you'll need a wait a bit.
Hope that helps.
Steph
I have spent many hours with Hostgator support and they are struggling too. It has well and truly past the 24-48hrs they allow to redirect the new nameservers
Cheers Kev
You are right I would totally screw it up too. I would like to know just to take it from WA to myself to use in the future.
The process from our side is very simple, Just enter your new nameservers in the SiteRubix domain management tab.
Hostgator offer free site transfer for new accounts, but this can't happen until the hosting is redirected to their nameservers.
Cheers Kev

I went to the section to pointing to WA entered in my domain name and it says there was an error. I had made a previous attempt to transfer the domain to WA, but then someone told me I could avoid paying to have it transferred and instead just do the hosting at WA. Has anyone every transferred their site from WA to another hosting company? Is so how do we go about doing this?

I'm curious: What part of our sites do we not have control over with WA? (with ref to yr reply to Heidi56)
WA does not offer cPanel access, which is required to update back end databases, etc. Since we're using WordPress, it's not required for simple sites, but for more complex hosting requirements, cPanel is necessary. We also don't have control over when/if software upgrades for php/mSql are made, etc.
Just to add on:
-Direct control of DNS records
-Install whatever plugin that you want(not that this is necessarily a bad thing)
You might want to read Kyle's reaction first before you transfer to hostgator How to transfer a domain from wa to hostgator?
Yes, HostGator will but i need to redirect the URL to Hostgator's nameservers before they can do anything
Cheers Kev
The other advice here is solid and it shouldn't be very difficult to do since you are already on WordPress and I'm assuming you plan to stay on WordPress. Just make sure you really research hosting companies. Do you have proper security in place? Is your site being backed up? What happens if / when your sites go down or you have an issue, can you reach their customer service when needed? I've tried many different hosts and the ONLY service I trust is WPengine for WordPress sites. They cost more but they include everything you'll need and basically manage the server for you.
Thanks some great info. Never heard of WPengine. I am already with Hostgator or I would check them out
Cheers Kev
If you own the domain, ask WA to unlock the domain and give you the transfer code.
Then get a decent ISP (internet service provider) buy a host plan
Install wordpress there
Make a backup or clone of your WA website
Upload the clone or backup to new hosting by ftp
Use the DNS settings to point your domain to the new host they will give you their dns and you will have to place or give them the domain transfer code.
Should be something like this
Cheers
You're going to have to find a backup plugin that will make a backup of your website files and database. You would then have to restore the backup at your new hosting company. A lot of times the backup plugin can be used to restore the website if you create a temporary site first.
Done, backed up now try to get to my domain and change the nameservers. It is with WA, I have asked support how to do it.
Thanks
Cheers kev
1) Backup your files using something like WP-Clone.
2) Obtain hosting elsewhere.
3) Point your DNS at your Registrar (where you bought your domain name) to the nameservers of your new host.
4) Install Wordpress on the new host.
5) Restore your site from backup.

Facebook and other sites are not very fond of promoting Affiliate Marketing or Work From Home businesses. How do the WA affiliates get around this when advertising in those ch
I hear what you're saying Kev, it appears that some people can post affiliate links to Facebook and others can't! I generally have a problem with this feature. However, I just shared your post on Twitter and my Twitter account automatically feeds through to my Facebook account and for the first time ever, Facebook has allowed this post! Would like to hear other people's experience on the subject.
All the best to you Kev, Roy.
Thanks Roy, I ha never had a problem sharing posts on facebook. It is when I try to promote the post or Advertise they jack up. Have the same problem with bing but I will try some suggestion I have received in response to my question. Cheers Kev
I use Facebook to promote my site all the time. I have never had a problem. What specific problems are you having?
They are saying it does not comply with their rules. I will try some suggestions I have had to my question and see how I go. No time today. Will do it tomorrow.
Cheers Kev
Same with Loes, I don't post original affiliate links on Facebook. But instead, use Pretty Link plugin to shorten the link, and sometimes, shortener like Bitly.
In my previous question here in WA, I have asked a related question, related to your post here.
Usually, I don't share links that are pointing to an affiliate sign up page. If I share links on Facebook, I see to it that it is pointing to a post where people can get "value" instead of just being sold on to. Like, blog posts, or videos, where people can learn something before they are asked to give names, email, or credit card.
No matter how strict Facebook is, I discovered they also sleep. There are posts that are not moderated, and only moderated when another user complained about it.
So, to avoid having other users complain about your link, make sure what you share is of real value to them, something that really helps them solve problem.
Thanks, this is about paid advertising not sharing. I use Bitly and landing pages all the time but lately with Bing I am redirecting to my blog. Results are much better.
Tried this with my WealthyRetirement blog but the ad was rejected.
Need to change the wording of the ad perhaps. I am lost with this one hence the question. Cheers Kev
I see. Thanks for clearing it out, that it is about paid advertising. How about indirect two steps strategy? Like, advertising the fan page that is attached to your blog? Advertising for more likes, as more likes means, more audiences.
I never had any problems, I use the pretty link lite plugin, I adjust my affiliate links on my website with pretty link and copy the new made links, and I post them
this link:
http://www.wealthyaffiliate.com/a_aid/a1753160/campaign/yoursiterubix
I have changed into
http://your.siterubix.com/free
They don't worry about having Wealthy Affiliates all over the landing page and in the URL?
Cheers kev
I just blatantly post affiliate links when I want but I don't do that often I usually post a page or post that contains them. But I don't do that all the time either. I mostly post good quality content that gives value and I ask for their money sparingly and usually get more than I project lol
Facebook don't have a problem with posting Affiliate link, but they are funny about paid advertising anything to do with Affiliates or make money online, work from home offers

Hi, Kev.
Hate to break it to you but I'll try to be as civil as possible by using a quote that we are all familiar with.
'Luke...the dark side is waiting for you, Luke...your destiny is waiting, Luke...only on the dark side will you find your destiny, luke. Luke.........."
I've actually got some proof to take these Guru's down, but the timing is not right Kev. If I initiated it now, what little I have established would be wiped away.
Just stick with what you are doing and be consistent.
The dark side of Internet will actually give a few of these 'gurus' ( the word is actually a misnomer) the Ferrari's and stuff but what they do to have those things makes me want to vomit.
Interesting topic which you have initiated.
Paul.
Thanks Paul, I will keep going but I am looking for a better path than the one I am on.
Cheers Kev
Kev, let's see what we can do.
I Just visited your affiliate site. I got bounced off it on many of your links because they do not open in a new window.
Let's get that fixed right away.
I'll look for more stuff tomorrow.
Kev, all your links that leave your site have to open in a new window.
Check it out for yourself.
Paul.
Great question Kev, certainly a problem we all seem to suffering from. As others have said the answers are going to be worth gold, some of them are already. Steve
Hey Kev, one of the ways I know these gurus send out periodic follow-up messages to their subscribers, and in the email, they will mention about the article they have just written and direct their subscribers to their websites. Since they have many thousands of subscribers, there are two great benefits here, one is they will have a surge in their website traffic, two is that they can entice their subscribers to buy their products at the same time. :)
Thanks Jewel, I need to get to that point where I have thousands of subscribers......lol
Great answer.
Cheers Kev

You will some great insights....hope this is of help.
"Gurus" run massive numbers in traffic and create huge list...For many of them it is a simple game of mathematics and over time after over spending one can hopefully get to a point where they are able to fine tune their system and keep cost down due to exposure. Some times I learned from a buddy who does well online...when some of these people talk about larger than normal numbers or cash earned in a small amount of time or in a month....they are leaving out all the emails that had to be sent and how many days, weeks, or even months it took for a particular offers sales to come in or convert for a particular campaign.
Really and truly most Gurus are seemingly gurus not because they are necessarily good at different forms of marketing like article writing, blogging, or ppc to name a few; but many are good at creating small free and paid products that are geared to their particular audience. Create a free product or ebook and give it to your list if you haven't all ready....create another value based product that solves some issue or provides insight to the interest of your audience and have them buy it for a nominal fee and continue scaling up. Or like what some people do create a funnel that links everything that is geared to your audience from the free give away all the way to your backend product.
It takes a lot of time and hard work to find some type of pattern of a keyword or keywords to generate higher conversions and simply fine tuning campaigns.
A few guys that are really good....don't even put buy links in their emails hardly ever...maybe once a week or two....some times even longer but in between that time they are adding value and exposing their list to different ideas , ways of thought, and just them as a person. There are so many methods and different methods work for different people.
You definitely have asked a good and very cool question!
Hi Sylvester, thank you for your very comprehensive answer. Too many options in there, I can't keep up.
It appears to be like a jigsaw puzzle when you have to get all the pieces in the right place.
A planning is the way to go.

Hi Kev, I do get the error message 404, but is from Google.
My Website hosting at WA.

go to WA site Manager---- your website below
the "refresh" buttom click it. Check it error gone.

Apparently these type of errors are common in Bing. Here is a link to their message center.
