I am having all kinds of problems after I transferred one of my websites to Hostgator from WA hosting. I have spoken to WA support and they claim the domain is now pointing to
Anyone verify the actual entries in the DNS server itself?
When I configure a server on a network I have to add an entry about the server inside the DNS server it attaches too.
Just a thought
Turns out this is a problem with my internet service provider. They say it is internet cache. I have spoken to them and they can't do anything about it so I am moving to another provider.
Thanks for your input.
Cheers Kev
One domain name is already pointing to HostGator http://wealthyretirementwithkev.com/ but there's no content on it.
Did you back up your websites and save them on your computer? Full Backup With a Plugin You have 2 websites and HostGator will only move one for free. Do you need help with the second website? http://wealthyaffiliatetv.com/move
actually, Hostgator will move two for new customers, they confirmed this.
I have backup my site and just need to logon the new site and restore
but I cannot logon
Do you have the NEW username and password for http://wealthyretirementwithkev.com/ ? In your browser type in http://wealthyretirementwithkev.com/wp-admin That will take you to the dashboard.
I used KProxy and was able to sign in. This tells me there is a cache problem. It there such a thing as Internet cache?
Cheers Kev
Perhaps the problem is with your internet service provider. I'm so glad you're able to log in now.
I can login but still haven't overcome the problem. Spoke to my internet provider and they claim there is nothing they can do.
Thanks, at least I can setup my site.
Cheers Kev
Kev, This may not be related but could the internet attacks that happened yesterday and today be slowing down the part that makes things functional at your new host? Perhaps somebody knows about this.
Barbara
I saw the notice on Hostgator yesterday but they said it was resolved. Their chat support didn't like it was an issue. Cheers Kev
Basically, you're dealing with DNS caching issues.
To acces your site on hostgator I would try to use another browser you have never used before or try deleting all of the old info out of your current browser.
Domain names are mapped to ip addresses. Browsers, computers and even ISPs cache this information so they don't have to look up the right ip address every time a http request gets sent to the server your website is hosted on. How To Check Your DNS Search "DNS" in the WA toolbar and you'll find more training.
Thanks, Thomas, I hear what you are saying and I agree. But I get the same result on my phone so that tells me is has nothing to do with cache in my browsers or laptop.
I have tried all browsers in incognito, have deleted all history (cache) in the browsers. I have also done a DNS flush on my computer.
I am at the stage where I cannot think of anything else. All the support people are saying everything on their end is OK.
I even contacted my internet service provider to see if they could help, spent hours with Hostgator support and a list of emails with WA support.
Cheers Kev
I don't know when you changed the name servers but It will take a good 24 hours before your website will be fully propagated.
It has been well over 24hrs now. They quote 24-48 hrs. WA support claims it has already been changed.
Cheers Kev
Have you tried speaking to Hostgator customer service, they may be able to help, maybe it's something on their side.
Also, from my understanding, it can take a day or two for it to properly transfer over, so maybe you'll need a wait a bit.
Hope that helps.
Steph
I have spent many hours with Hostgator support and they are struggling too. It has well and truly past the 24-48hrs they allow to redirect the new nameservers
Cheers Kev
You are right I would totally screw it up too. I would like to know just to take it from WA to myself to use in the future.
The process from our side is very simple, Just enter your new nameservers in the SiteRubix domain management tab.
Hostgator offer free site transfer for new accounts, but this can't happen until the hosting is redirected to their nameservers.
Cheers Kev

I am having trouble transferring my website hosting?
I am having all kinds of problems after I transferred one of my websites to Hostgator from WA hosting. I have spoken to WA support and they claim the domain is now pointing to
i changed the DNS on hostgator, tried pointing it to WA (I kept the domain at hostgator) I'm just hosting at WA. I went to the section to pointing to WA entered in my domain name and it says there was an error. I had made a previous attempt to transfer the domain to WA, but then someone told me I could avoid paying to have it transferred and instead just do the hosting at WA. The DNS at hostgator for my site is WA's but when I tried adding it under the point section, it says there was an error, The domain transfer is still in my shopping cart.
