Hi, it's great to meet you, my name is Marion and I live in Adelaide Australia.

Everyone should have a "main hustle" and a "side hustle". My "main hustle" is mentoring. I take people from where they are now to where they want to be. Even if their "main hustle" is a full time job. I create video tutorials and courses. My "side hustle" is my websites.

If you don't like your "main hustle" then develop your "side hustle" to the point where it can become your "main hustle" and ditch your job.

I love my "main hustle".

I'm an entrepreneur.

I launched my first "real" business - with paid advertising in the local newspaper - over 50 years ago when I was a teenager. I've always embodied that entrepreneurial spirit. I've had lots of start ups since then. Some successful, some not quite. But I'll never give up. They've all been part of the learning experience.

I've been messing around with computers for more than 30 years. I started programming on a Commodore 64 (hands up if you remember them). Then I switched to PCs.

Using a dial-up internet connection I created my first website using HTML in 2002 to promote my software programs. The website is still in existence but it's not mobile-friendly and I just keep it for nostalgic reasons. I don't write programs/apps any more.

These days I get a buzz from helping my WA friends. I have created lots of tutorials and videos to answer questions so please check out my training section. Click the blue 'View MarionBlack's Training' button on the bottom-right of this page. Or go to https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/training-by-marion-black-sorted for the cataloged version.

If YOU need any extra help just leave a message in the comments section below. I'm always happy to respond. If I don't know the answer to your question then I'll point you in the right direction.

Since adding the "s" to my HTTP I didn't realize I needed to add all new verification codes to my SEO. I want to thank you for your very easy to follow instructions, saved me a ton of time! I do have one question, it shows on my search console, the indexing for the smartphone is still not complete. Am I missing something?

Again, thank you for all your great training :)

I got rejected once by Amazon affiliate program despite the fact that I made a comission of 4.1 USD from a 82 dollar necklace order. They stated that my website is not really developed and that my content is lacking. I am trying to tap on the power of the social media, youtube, and even my own blog. I am not sure what has gone wrong and don't really understand Amazon's bottom limit. Could you enlighten me on this? Thank you.

Hi Marion.
I was approved by the Adsense team last month. In my Wordpress area, I clicked on Appearance, Widgets then dragged a new text box to the right hand side. Then pasted the Adsense code into the box and saved.

Since then my website has not displayed any ads and I wonder which steps I have left out?

I would appreciate your guidance.

Regards to you.

It takes time for Google to start serving up the ads. It may be an hour or even a day or two. Give me a link to your website so I can take a look at the code.

That's the code to get page level ads (don't ask, it's complicated). Go to Adsense and create a new ad. Get the code for the new ad and paste it into the text widget instead of the code that's there now. Remind me to have a look at your website tomorrow to see if the ad shows up.

Hi Marion

I revisited the email instructions from Adsense and pasted new code into my text widget. Have a look at the result:
panicattackcured.com

A couple of questions...
1.The ad is slightly positioned to the right and consequently, some of the text is missing. I have tried two size ads but this has not changed.
2. When the site is loaded on my desktop, the ad appears on the right-hand side, under all of my posts and archives. Is he best position?
When loaded on my mobile phone, it is the very last item that a user sees (if they bother scrolling this far!)

I would appreciate your comments.

Thanks, Marion.

I suggest you go back to Adsense and create a new ad. This time choose Responsive for the size and they will then only send ads which fit into the available space.

The best place to put Adsense ads is so that at least half of it is above the fold. They count impressions when at least 50% is visible for one continuous second.

Hi Marion. It is very nice to meet you.

I truly commend your ability to learn from your failed start ups in the past and see it as an opportunity for progress rather than a discouraging event. I strongly believe that is one of the marks of a great entrepreneur.

I have started my path to entrepreneurship this year. My main hustle is my chemical engineering degree, which I will hopefully finish up over the next two years. My side hustle is affiliate marketing, which I hope to work on for the next few years so that I can become financially independent and ditch my main hustle.

Hi Marion,
Many thanks for this tutorial and many others that I haven't yet been able to see.
You certainly are inspiring for me...wow, what an experience. I am a newbie on this "business" and I guess it might take a long time for me to get used to all this.
I have been following the very descriptive steps you tell us to insert a WA banner in sidebar widget and I could do with your help. I am stuck at some of the steps, as my computer doesn't always show the same options than the ones explained by you:
- To start with, I have no option to use the "incognito window" when clicking on the banner, thus unable to verify effectiveness
- Also, when pressing the "text" box when editing the post, to copy the text that should appear, no text comes up.
Grateful if you could help me to resolve the above.
Cheers,

An@

Boy, do I wish you lived in my neck of the woods and I could visit you and have some coffee. I'm Susan, I live in San Diego and I am very new at Web Pages. I was even looking for a book that would explain (Show me a picture) all the parts of a web page to me. Anyway, I just watched your training on tried adding WordPresses Panoramic Premium theme. The problem is that I can't find it now and when I go to my themes folder it not there. My page looks just like it did before I put the premium in. What I mean is that when I try to customize there's nothing new there. It looks the same as the free one did.

Boy, I hope I'm making myself clear I'm too old to get this flustered. HA! HA! HA!

I think I really messed up and went way beyond my skills. Is there any way to fix this.

Wealthy Affiliate doesn't actually sell themes. If you got it through your website which is hosted at WA then it's not a premium theme. Premium themes can be purchased from the theme's developers. Free themes come from wordpress.org and are installed through your WordPress dashboard.

Hi, Marion, I have an online store hosted with GoDaddy and the domain is registered with GoDaddy also. It doesn't get much traffic at all, but I do have some customers that I want to keep.

I want to keep the domain name because it is part of the brand, should I just move the domain to WA. and build a new site, or leave it alone and build a site to send customers to the online store at Godaddy.

If I transfer the domain to WA, how long would it take before I could start building the new website? Your expert help and opinions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
Clay.

If it's a WordPress site then you can back it up and move it to WA. Contact Site Support to help you with this. If it's built on a different content management system then create a new Site Rubix subdomain and built it out from scratch. Once you've got everything set up on the subdomain you can change your domain's nameservers to WA and move the contents of the subdomain to your domain name.

Oh dear, Marion. I only come and bother you when I have tried and tried to figure out my problem myself.
A site (Semrush) did an assessment on my website and the most (215 errors) were about turning http into https. I know I cannot do that myself. It involves getting a SSL certificate. Doing all this will help my ranking, or so they say. Could I please have your considered opinion on this matter?

Hi Tracy,

Your site is hosted at WA so you have immediate access to an SSL certificate. After you get your SSL certificate you'll want to check this out Yes, having an SSL certificate is important and it will soon become a major ranking (and user experience) factor.

Hi Sharon,

I'm not a lawyer but from what I've read up on GDPR you should be OK with obtaining names and email addresses for your email list provided you use two step verification through a legitimate autoresponder service. And you must give people on your list the option to unsubscribe.

What do you think of the WA bashing going on. I am a bit unsettled unless this normal behaviour between competitors. I am not putting WA on my site and there is no obligation to do soI suppose I will make the same progress even if I am not promoting WA.
Puzzled,

Unfortunately it's normal behaviour for some people. The guy concerned didn't even try out the free trial membership so he really doesn't know what he's talking about. Loes left a comment on his website a while ago but he deleted it. He's only interested in making WA look bad so people will buy the more expensive products that he's promoting.

I have a lot of knowledge on beach holidays and travel but I don't know how to start this off? I want to incorporate several affiliate programs as i see this is as a great potential to make money and then there is adsense, i think that's what it's called. This put together with a write up from me. I now also need some good images for the beach resort front page at least. How do I get good quality images that i can legally use?
Do you have any possible recommendations for me?
I would appreciate any help from you :)
Thank you in advance and all the best!

Hi Cezar,

My best advice is to follow the lessons. Think about how you can help people solve their problems rather than how you can make money out of them. The more people you help, the more likely you are to succeed at this.

Go to pixabay.com to look for images which are not only free but are also free to use.

Hi Marion,

I recently joined WA and am from Perth, Western Australia :)

I love your bio and I too have been my own boss since my early 20's. You're very inspiring and I look forward to learning more about WA from you.

Out of curiosity, how long did it take you to start earning with WA?

Warmest regards
Mandy :)
Reply
MarionBlack Premium
That's a hard question to answer Mandy. I've been earning online since 2002, so WA was not the beginning for me. I can tell you that I didn't get my first WA premium referral until I'd been with WA for over 12 months. But then, I don't have a website devoted to WA so I'm not like other people.

Wow just read your bio!
How inspiring!
I'm currently a teenager who loves computers & art.
(^v^) (I started learning HTML, CSS & processing.js awhile back but I will have to redo some lessons as I shifted my focus to art and some other things.)

I loved the idea of becoming an entrepreneur, especially since I always had ideas for creating things and improving.

I feel more hopeful progressing here the more I see WA as a community :)

Thank you for all of the training you put out here!
I hope to share the knowledge I gain from being here on WA with everyone,,,,once I complete training and progress!!! :D

Hi Marion,

Thanks for the follow...

I have read your profile and I can relate with you especially with regards to computers. I myself started my professional career as a computer technician. I can say that I'm one of the few Apple technicians who was able to service/repair Apple IIs since my company here in the Philippines was the first Exclusive Distributor of Apple computers back in late 1980s. Dial-up internet was the main thing then and Apple DOS was still in existence.

Right now I can still handle the latest Apple products since my full time job is a Technical Service Manager of an Apple Authorized Service Provider.

I wish to follow you since I believe that I can learn a lot from you here in WA. I'm still a newbie here and is expecting to learn a lot and be successful in this kind of business.

Best Regards,
Lito

Hi Marion! Love your "About you page! Was wondering if you think my goals are set to high? Need some feedback, please? Shortly
after joining WA, filling out my goals, my husband and, myself realized we need to move by The 15th of April. Not an out of state move but ,I can sure use your opinion on how much time you think I should spend realistically on my biz here at WA? Not asking you to tell me what to do, just some suggestions. Never had a side gig like this one, it's truly amazing!

Think about your WHY. The main reason you want to learn about affiliate marketing.

As an exercise, just for your own benefit, write down 100 things you would do if you had an extra $1,000. Then figure out how you can get it.

Hey Marion. I remember the C 64! I used to program games in basic. My PC experience has been extensive but I am a bit antiquated now. For the last 15 years or so I have been little more than a user but I have done some HTML programming.

I have also had several startups in my time. All 3 were successful for the most part but they also ended due to circumstances beyond my control. Right now I am unemployed having been through a lay off. I have been wanting to get into an online business for a while but my last "job " just did not allow the time.

I plan on this being my " main hustle" so I am willing to listen to advice and any other help offered.

Thanks for the follow and I look forward to working with you.

Take care - Joel

Hi Marion,
Thank you so much for following me, I do really appreciate it. I will surely have a look at the training you are offering, I love to learn new things. I do remember some of the things you mention on your bio and which are now history, at least in the industrialised countries, like FTPing your HTML raw coded website to the hosting server using a dial up connection, and loosing half of it if the connection hanged half way through. Me, like you, love teaching and seeing people succeeding at their dreams. But I have never ventured into affilliate marketing before, so it is extremely interesting to me. I am really enjoying the training.
I wish you success in all your endeavours in WA and in life in general,
All the best,

Hi Marion, thanks for your message. I currently have hosting with webhostinghub. I believe it's faster than WA hosting and I have room for increasing my website hosting there. Do I have to use WA hosting if I set up a website through WA's siterubix? It tells me I have to point my domain to WA but I'd like to keep the hosting part with webhostinghub...
Would appreciate any help you can give me
Reply
MarionBlack Premium
Yes, you can keep your hosting with webhostinghub and still do all the training at WA. You can take advantage of WA's Site Domains to buy a new domain name if you need one.

If you just want a "practice" website then you can create a Site Rubix subdomain.

I am just curious about one thing. Did you ever use site rubix for your blogs? For initial beginners like me who have gone through some of your videos, would find value in picking up some valuable skills in me. But, the problem is my websites, especially the site rubix have not had a major hit so far. I have even gone to the extent to promote my websites in social media like Instagram, Facebook and even twitter. For out of the 3 blogs that I have submitted, only 1 blog in the form of google+ is indexed, while the rest is not indexed. Is it true that for users of the siterubix, it is going to be a hard time for them to get traffic. I am at this point confused and do not know how to proceed on. I need your help to enlighten me on this. Once again, I would like to thank you in advance and I look forward to your reply.
Reply
MarionBlack Premium
In my opinion the Site Rubix websites are just for practice. If you want real results then you need to own your own domain name and your site needs good content to get indexed. It also takes time to gain trust so the sooner you buy your domain name the better.

Hi Marion-

I was feeling pretty good about what I was learning and decided to move my hosting to WA so that I could get help with my sites, so I watched your video on how to do that but I watched your video on moving the DOMAIN NAME over to WA and not DNS! UGH. Major bummer bc now I can't move the hosting over from godly to WA bc I no longer can see anything regarding my 2 sites that I moved - so have no control over the dns. I am hoping that this is just bc of my ignorance but I have seriously spent hours and hours trying to figure it out.
Now, I have received this warning (see below) from WA and I haven't a clue what to do.

Thank you in advance for whatever you can do to help.
Tracie
The following domains have webspace at WA that are pending removal. In order to use WA hosting, you need to have your DNS pointed to our servers:
Primary: ns1.mywahosting.com
Secondary: ns2.mywahosting.com
Please update your nameservers to point to our servers as your domains are scheduled to be removed in 9 days.
