Hi, it's great to meet you, my name is Marion and I live in Adelaide Australia.

Everyone should have a "main hustle" and a "side hustle". My main hustle is affiliate marketing. My side hustle is creating video courses. "The Plan" is to make my side hustle my main hustle. So if I'm not around Wealthy Affiliate as much as I used to be it's because I'm working on my side hustle.

If you don't like your "main hustle" then develop your "side hustle" to the point where it can become your "main hustle" and ditch your job.

I love my main hustle but I love my side hustle more.

I'm an entrepreneur. I launched my first "real" business - with paid advertising in the local newspaper - over 50 years ago when I was a teenager. I've always embodied that entrepreneurial spirit. I've had lots of start ups since then. Some successful, some not quite. But I'll never give up. They've all been part of the learning experience.

I've been messing around with computers for more than 30 years. I started programming on a Commodore 64 (hands up if you remember them). Then I switched to PCs.

Using a dial-up internet connection I created my first website using HTML in 2002 to promote my software programs. The website is still in existence but it's not mobile-friendly and I just keep it for nostalgic reasons. I don't write programs/apps any more.

These days I get a buzz from helping my WA friends. I have created lots of tutorials and videos to answer questions so please check out my training section. Click the blue 'View MarionBlack's Training' button on the bottom-right of this page. Or go to https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/training-by-marion-black-sorted for the cataloged version.

If YOU need any extra help just leave a message in the comments section below. I'm always happy to respond. If I don't know the answer to your question then I'll point you in the right direction.

Hello Marion,

Good morning, I has been quite sometime since I heard from you. And I hope business is moving well with some success. I tried to log in to my Google Webmaster account this morning to crowl a post I created to request for for indexing.

But found out that Google has sent me a message to complete a particular task. I was asked to by Google to st my site to a particular target location. Please will you advice me to do that?

To set my website to international target location?
Reply

Some websites are more relevant to a particular geographical area or country. Most websites are international. If your target audience reside in one country then that would be the target location. If your audience is international then don't choose a particular target location.

Hello, Marion! Your knowledge of creation of website is definitely needed in my case. I'm not the most computer savvy user around and am having a little difficulty with the word "Domain" for my website which I'm about to create as we speak. What, in fact, is :domain" and how should I apply it to my website?
If In were to use mywealthbuilding.com is this an example of domain usage, would tis be accurate?
Your good advice is much appreciated.

Kind regards,
Reply
MarionBlack Premium
Yes, your example is a domain name. But I recommend that you look for a domain name that hasn't already been registered so you can get it for $13.99 instead of $2,395.00.

Hi Marion. I have been given your name to help me transfer my domain from Godaddy to WA. The instructions that have been given just don't fit what seem to be on Godaddy. Really sorry but one of my talents is not reading instructions well! Lol. I'm a hands on person. Are you able to help or shou;d I go to support?
Reply
MarionBlack Premium
Do you need to transfer just the domain name or is there a website that you need to move?
Reply
LynWilson Premium
OMG! I have a website so I guess both! My thinking is to have everything under one roof!
Reply
MarionBlack Premium
Best to do them one at a time. Use the link above to backup your website using WP Clone then contact Site Support and ask them to help you move the website.

After you've got all that sorted then transfer the domain name. Your domain name doesn't need to be transferred until it's getting near renewal time.

Hello Mrs.Marion,
I wish to ask you for advice. My website is approved after2-3 months, initially they rejected me. Now I have to put the ad code so they can advertise. The adsense code I placed long time ago and I named the position on the main page "Sponsored", I believe I used your advice back then also?

I use a text widget for the code. Make sure you paste the code into the text tab not the visual tab

Thanks for your follow. I'm impressed with your accomplishments and will definitely check out your training help as I am not that good on a computer. It's almost like learning a new language but I am determined and not afraid to ask for help. Congratulations on your success! I chose the absolute best place for training and support. I'm very grateful for WA and all supporting members as we embrace online marketing as a means of cash flow and possibly income changing results.

Hi Marion, I am not new to computers, but have struggled extensively to learn how to use them. I am much better at written languages. Even with the instructions I've seen on some of the videos, I have racked my brain to try and understand what the instruction is to build and create and blog and post and so on And so on....I learn better by being instructed while I follow along and do the work with someone. Unfortunately, my computer has been Down and the only thing I have is my IPad on which I can only work one screen at a time. So I have to watch, stop the video and then try the action on another screen then come back and replay over and over until I get it.

Hi Marian. I am sorry I have been bothering you lately, but, I really love your training, somehow your way to teach seems like it gets through my thick head. I have a question. Why do we need a custom link menu? Thank you. I tell you the story about what I was doing and how I end up sending you this note with a question. For start, I am following your training that I have on my Desktop home page. The drag and drop Menu and unclickable head. I think is very easy to follow your tutorials. Thanks again for all the help.

The custom links in the menu can link to anywhere in the internet at your choice. Or you can link to nowhere and keep your visitors on the same page by using the # symbol instead of a URL.

Dear Marion. I recently got to promote, Honey Colony products. My problem is, they have so many products and I don't want to make my website so busy. So I was thinking that maybe I should do the parent page stuff. I am sorry, I am not that technical. Anyway, I did three pages with the main stuff that they have. So, now I was thinking to put 25 different categories on each page on child pages. I am not sure how you call it... I think doing like a link is not going to work because there are too many. These are products that I am talking about. Please help me, I am very confused. Thank you so much, Marion.

Hi Marion.
I was approved by the Adsense team last month. In my Wordpress area, I clicked on Appearance, Widgets then dragged a new text box to the right hand side. Then pasted the Adsense code into the box and saved.

Since then my website has not displayed any ads and I wonder which steps I have left out?

I would appreciate your guidance.

That's the code to get page level ads (don't ask, it's complicated). Go to Adsense and create a new ad. Get the code for the new ad and paste it into the text widget instead of the code that's there now. Remind me to have a look at your website tomorrow to see if the ad shows up.

Hi Marion

I revisited the email instructions from Adsense and pasted new code into my text widget. Have a look at the result:
panicattackcured.com

A couple of questions...
1.The ad is slightly positioned to the right and consequently, some of the text is missing. I have tried two size ads but this has not changed.
2. When the site is loaded on my desktop, the ad appears on the right-hand side, under all of my posts and archives. Is he best position?
When loaded on my mobile phone, it is the very last item that a user sees (if they bother scrolling this far!)

I would appreciate your comments.

Thanks, Marion.

I suggest you go back to Adsense and create a new ad. This time choose Responsive for the size and they will then only send ads which fit into the available space.

The best place to put Adsense ads is so that at least half of it is above the fold. They count impressions when at least 50% is visible for one continuous second.

I truly commend your ability to learn from your failed start ups in the past and see it as an opportunity for progress rather than a discouraging event. I strongly believe that is one of the marks of a great entrepreneur.

I have started my path to entrepreneurship this year. My main hustle is my chemical engineering degree, which I will hopefully finish up over the next two years. My side hustle is affiliate marketing, which I hope to work on for the next few years so that I can become financially independent and ditch my main hustle.

Many thanks for this tutorial and many others that I haven't yet been able to see.
You certainly are inspiring for me...wow, what an experience. I am a newbie on this "business" and I guess it might take a long time for me to get used to all this.
I have been following the very descriptive steps you tell us to insert a WA banner in sidebar widget and I could do with your help. I am stuck at some of the steps, as my computer doesn't always show the same options than the ones explained by you:
- To start with, I have no option to use the "incognito window" when clicking on the banner, thus unable to verify effectiveness
- Also, when pressing the "text" box when editing the post, to copy the text that should appear, no text comes up.
Grateful if you could help me to resolve the above.
Cheers,

Boy, do I wish you lived in my neck of the woods and I could visit you and have some coffee. I'm Susan, I live in San Diego and I am very new at Web Pages. I was even looking for a book that would explain (Show me a picture) all the parts of a web page to me. Anyway, I just watched your training on tried adding WordPresses Panoramic Premium theme. The problem is that I can't find it now and when I go to my themes folder it not there. My page looks just like it did before I put the premium in. What I mean is that when I try to customize there's nothing new there. It looks the same as the free one did.

Boy, I hope I'm making myself clear I'm too old to get this flustered. HA! HA! HA!

I think I really messed up and went way beyond my skills. Is there any way to fix this.

Wealthy Affiliate doesn't actually sell themes. If you got it through your website which is hosted at WA then it's not a premium theme. Premium themes can be purchased from the theme's developers. Free themes come from wordpress.org and are installed through your WordPress dashboard.

Hey Marion, thanks for the reply but I bought one of my domains through bluehost and the other through shopify. I had both of the transfer numbers and on WA when I try verify transfer it emails the authorization code but it never shows up in my inbox. I've checked both the email that my WA profile is linked to as well as shopfiy and bluehost emails and I haven't gotten any email

The email will go to the email address which is registered at whois. Are your contact details up to date on the domain name registration? Do you have privacy activated? You have to turn off privacy so they can find the correct email address in whois.

Hi, Marion, I have an online store hosted with GoDaddy and the domain is registered with GoDaddy also. It doesn't get much traffic at all, but I do have some customers that I want to keep.

I want to keep the domain name because it is part of the brand, should I just move the domain to WA. and build a new site, or leave it alone and build a site to send customers to the online store at Godaddy.

If I transfer the domain to WA, how long would it take before I could start building the new website? Your expert help and opinions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
Clay.

If it's a WordPress site then you can back it up and move it to WA. Contact Site Support to help you with this. If it's built on a different content management system then create a new Site Rubix subdomain and built it out from scratch. Once you've got everything set up on the subdomain you can change your domain's nameservers to WA and move the contents of the subdomain to your domain name.

Hi Marion... you seem to know what you are doing here... I want to pick your brain fro a sec, if I please can.
I watched your video on how to set up a aStore and I did everything exactly as you pointed out. But when I come to integrating aStore with my website by pasting the Embedded link on the text side of my page, nothing happens. I get a blank page.
I am hosting through WA siterubix. is there a trick I'm missing?

Thank you so much for your prompt reply. It was very helpful. I now have to decide on a Niche?? and I'll go for dot com. Can an upgrade for premium membership be purchased for a year at a cheaper cost than monthly, and what are your thoughts on this?
Many thanks again. C

I've been a yearly premium member since July 2014. So yes, you can purchase your premium membership for a year and it's much cheaper than the monthly cost. Go to your Account Settings and under Subscription you'll find Membership. Click on Manage to change to yearly.

I'm quite amazed by your accomplishments in the computer world. I myself is not a computer savvy but would want to. I've been with WA for nearly three months but haven't done much on my website. I got stuck somewhere on website creation and cant go on. I didnt have the motivation to do anything yet. I'm quite busy on other things but I want to prioritize my training on WA... I will have to look at your training modules and may have to apply it to my website.

Oh dear, Marion. I only come and bother you when I have tried and tried to figure out my problem myself.
A site (Semrush) did an assessment on my website and the most (215 errors) were about turning http into https. I know I cannot do that myself. It involves getting a SSL certificate. Doing all this will help my ranking, or so they say. Could I please have your considered opinion on this matter?
Reply
MarionBlack Premium
Hi Tracy,

Your site is hosted at WA so you have immediate access to an SSL certificate. After you get your SSL certificate you'll want to check this out Yes, having an SSL certificate is important and it will soon become a major ranking (and user experience) factor.

Hi Marion,
Thank you for your valuable advice. I looked at details and I am hooked up already. What I saw was the results of a site audit from Semrush. See below. Are these alarm tactics or something that I ought to take care of?

Hi Sharon,

I'm not a lawyer but from what I've read up on GDPR you should be OK with obtaining names and email addresses for your email list provided you use two step verification through a legitimate autoresponder service. And you must give people on your list the option to unsubscribe.

This article may clarify things for you https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Data_Protection_Regulation

I've been studying the 88-page GDPR and other legal pages for weeks. I never once thought to look at Wikipedia, but I guess it really does have something about everything.

Right now, I am still using siterubix. I don't think I had a proper domain name yet. Do I need to buy a proper domain so that I am allowed to have that feature and does not require me to log into the siterubix site all the time?

You can login to your Site Rubix website using the method I mentioned. But you'll need to buy a domain name if you want to do affiliate marketing. You need to actually own the website before most companies will accept you as an affiliate.

Can I ask you a question? I am now struggling with the traffic that I got with my new websites(approximately 3 months old) and I have been consistently tracking down on google analytics only to find out that I had barely 0 to 3 new netizens visiting my site. Dear Marion,
What do you think of the WA bashing going on. I am a bit unsettled unless this normal behaviour between competitors. I am not putting WA on my site and there is no obligation to do soI suppose I will make the same progress even if I am not promoting WA.
Puzzled,
Tracy
Reply
MarionBlack Premium
Unfortunately it's normal behaviour for some people. The guy concerned didn't even try out the free trial membership so he really doesn't know what he's talking about. Loes left a comment on his website a while ago but he deleted it. He's only interested in making WA look bad so people will buy the more expensive products that he's promoting.

Don't let one negative person cloud your own perceptions.

By the way, have a happy birthday :)

Hi Cezar,

My best advice is to follow the lessons. Think about how you can help people solve their problems rather than how you can make money out of them. The more people you help, the more likely you are to succeed at this.

Go to pixabay.com to look for images which are not only free but are also free to use.

I recently joined WA and am from Perth, Western Australia :)

I love your bio and I too have been my own boss since my early 20's. You're very inspiring and I look forward to learning more about WA from you.

Out of curiosity, how long did it take you to start earning with WA?

That's a hard question to answer Mandy. I've been earning online since 2002, so WA was not the beginning for me. I can tell you that I didn't get my first WA premium referral until I'd been with WA for over 12 months. But then, I don't have a website devoted to WA so I'm not like other people.

Hi Marion,

Thanks for the follow...

I have read your profile and I can relate with you especially with regards to computers. I myself started my professional career as a computer technician. I can say that I'm one of the few Apple technicians who was able to service/repair Apple IIs since my company here in the Philippines was the first Exclusive Distributor of Apple computers back in late 1980s. Dial-up internet was the main thing then and Apple DOS was still in existence.

Right now I can still handle the latest Apple products since my full time job is a Technical Service Manager of an Apple Authorized Service Provider.

I wish to follow you since I believe that I can learn a lot from you here in WA. I'm still a newbie here and is expecting to learn a lot and be successful in this kind of business.

Best Regards,

Hey Marion. I remember the C 64! I used to program games in basic. My PC experience has been extensive but I am a bit antiquated now. For the last 15 years or so I have been little more than a user but I have done some HTML programming.

I have also had several startups in my time. All 3 were successful for the most part but they also ended due to circumstances beyond my control. Right now I am unemployed having been through a lay off. I have been wanting to get into an online business for a while but my last "job " just did not allow the time.

I plan on this being my " main hustle" so I am willing to listen to advice and any other help offered.

Thanks for the follow and I look forward to working with you.
