Hi, my name is Cheryl Brown and I live in Scotland, United Kingdom. I am married to my lovely husband David, we have a daughter Hayley who is 23 and twin boys Gavin and Euan who are now 19. We have recently got a puppy named Jake who is only 17 weeks old and a cat called Tootsie who is now a year old. Jake is a cross breed called a malshi (maltese/shih tzu). He is just a ball of fluff.

I am an avid reader and love lots of different styles of books. One of my favourite authors is Danielle Steel, I also love going walking and taking Jake to the beach when the weather is nice.

My Daughter Hayley has just graduated from University with a Masters of Art Degree in Archaeology with Honours and Gavin has just finished a year at College doing Social Sciences and passed his exams to go into University at 2nd year and will be doing PR and Media. So very proud of both of them. Waiting on my other son Euan to get his CSCS card which will allow him to get onto building sites as he really wants to be a bricklayer and can't do it without the card.

Euan has had a change of direction on the job front and has been offered a job as a trainee Chef with a local restaurant. Here's hoping that everything will go well and he will enjoy it. He does like to cook when he's in the house and thinks nothing about making up his own sauces to go with pasta and different things.

Hi Cheryl,
Thank you for returning my follow. I visited Scotland back in 1987/88 when I traveled to the UK to see my relatives there. Didn't see a lot of it but one day will return to see more. I only got to see Edinburgh and Glasgow for a night, stayed in Inverness for a couple of days and did a train trip where I could see the Highlands, so I definitely need to go back to see more. Wishing you much success.

Thank you Robert and I certainly have realized that. I am enjoying doing the bootcamp training although I am a bit stuck at the moment but will overcome it and move on as always. Do you still live in Scotland? xx
Reply

I have lived in Scotland all my life and never moved out off it although in my younger days I did work all over the place.
Mainly up north on the big Estates for the Aristocracy.
Now I'm in Auld Reekie and intend to stay here.
Enjoy your evening.

That's good to know. I have been the same Robert and never will leave. I stay in Penicuik now but I originally come from a small mining village about 10 miles from Edinburgh which is called Rosewell. I really don't expect you to have heard of it though lol. xx

I know Rosewell very well Cheryl and in fact my grandparents and parents and an uncle and cousins have all lived there.
As far as I know there is still one cousin living there today.

OMG, I never for a minute thought you would know where it was never mind having family from the village. What are their names as my dad was born and brought up in Rosewell and he still lives there now? He will probably know them. xx

My grandparents are dead now as is my father.
They all worked on the farms
One of them was Goorlaw and the other Gortonlee (think I've spelled them right lol)
My mother worked in Rosslynlee. That was when there was still a train station over the back of Rosewell.
My Grandparents were Cockburns and my uncle was their son.
My parents were called Aitchison and one of my uncles lived down the road in Bonnyrigg.
My cousin is a Cockburn
Reply
Chezbrown Premium
I do know of the Cockburns, what is your cousins first name? Not sure about your parents but my dad would maybe have known them though. What were their first names so I can ask him and I will let you know. My dad's name is Peter McGauley. xx

Hi Cheryl,

I loved reading your profile. My grandmother grew up in the UK,
and I love the language. I, of course, speak the American English language....being from the State of New York. I live in an area about 65 miles north of NYC, and we have many farms in the area.

Anyway, It looks like you are doing well. Good rank, and writing plenty of Posts.

I wish you every success.

Thank you Mike, there are a few others here too that have Scottish connections. I love New York, we were there in 2012 for Thanksgiving as I wanted to see the Macy's thanksgiving day parade. We also went to the Metlife twice to see the Jets first and then the Giants. I did a blog at Thanksgiving on our trip to New York.

Thanks for the follow and same to yourself. Xx

Hi Cheryl, Thanks for the follow ,I`m following back.
Are you Scottish? I`m half and the half is `Menzies ` clan Menzies. As a child was, every summer, taken to the Highlands
I do love Scotland but not the weather and midges ! lol
Good luck to you earning soon..

Hi and yes I am Scottish through and through.I stay 10 miles outside Edinburgh. The Highlands are lovely, especially the scenery but agree the only downside is the weather as we are never guaranteed to get what they forecast and can have the four seasons in one day. The Highlands would be a nightmare for the midges lol. Where do you stay now? xx

Chez, you slipped through my fingers somehow. When I respond to people's comments I usually go to their profiles page and read about them and connect. I just saw another response to your post and realised I hadn't done this. So now I am.

I really enjoyed Scotland when I visited way back in the dim, dark past. Went all the way up and on to the Orkneys.

Tootsie is a great name for a cat if she is a floozy like our Katie. She always flaunts her stuff. No dog as no fences.

Try get your younger son to look at an additional occupancy. I have Project managed engineering contracts and building contracts and I can tell you bricklaying is an arduous job. He might like an alternative to fall back on.

And now I will keep in touch with you.

I neep help. So I'm trying to find keywords using Jaaxy and it's quite difficult. I've been researching quite extensively. My niche is 'Print Dresses' (so dresses with prints on them) and the difficulty is that everything I search relates back to general dresses (cocktail, midi, long, with sleeves etc) if I even put the word 'print' or 'printed' in it, the search results become pretty dismal and I can't refine my searches but it's supposed to relate back to my 'print dresses' niche. The whole aspect of my website is that the dresses are specifically meant to be 'printed'. Any help?

Hi Cheryl:

Nice to meet you and hear your hubbie David and Hayley and your twin sons Gavin & Euan. Your kids are about the same age as my kids are. I have a 22 year old daughter too and a 19 year old son. He is getting ready to go to college in a couple weeks. Your cat Tootsie and puppy Jake sound cute as well.

Many thanks for including me in your network. I am now following you as well. I hope to talk with you soon.

Oh my! I love Danielle Steel! Nice to meet another fan! I'm also a very avid reader.

I also have 2 little fur-balls of my own, named Mimi and Jumper, both cats. The house is so lively with them present, playing around and fighting at times. Jumper is just as his name suggests. Always too excited and bumping into things while running around. Mimi is more of the sassy and quiet type. She likes her sleep and gives you attitude when you accidentally bump into her. Each has their own personalities and it's amazing how as a pet-parent, you will learn to tell them apart, lol.

Wishing you much success!

Thanks Reyhana, it is so funny to have both the dog and cat playing together and yes they definitely do give you attitude. Enjoy your time with them and great to hear you love Danielle Steel too. She is such a good author, love the style of her books but just wish she didn't have as many out at the one time lol, can't keep up.

I also have a hard time keeping up! I don't know how she does it. I have started writing a book of my own and have been at it for almost a year and still not completed it! LOL... But I guess practice makes perfect. She's been writing for years and years.

I don't know either, how does she keep coming up with different stories at the same time, I'd be totally confused. Good luck with your book though.
