Does anyone have somone who makes excellent logos. I dont want to make it myself but do have some iodeas. I am not an artis but i do want quality work. I dont care the price but
Lets forget Fiver I am really distraught over their workmanship. Cheap and crappy that is all they are.
Ken
Ken you have a couple of options. There are a few "professional" freelance sites. http://Freelance.com, http://Freelancer.com, and the one I am partial to because I used to be a "guru" (notice the little g),
http://guru.com.
In 2007 I did some freelance work through http://guru.com. I really like the platform and the professionalism in how everything is done.
The person wanting the work done, writes up very specific business requirements, like in one of the categories I signed up as a guru for was Brochures. I got one of the jobs(gigs), whatever you want to call it, and it was a guy living in the US that was from India and he and his partners wanted a Brochure written by only "English as a first language" gurus.
There is a bidding process whereby you the person wanting the work done looks through all the bids people post.
Freelancers can sign-up to guru for free or pay to get the ability to post to more listing. Once a freelancer pays guru, then this person is identified as a guru.
Posters of Listing can also set up the job request for guru's only.
Once the bidding is done, then the two parties start working together. Guru takes a percentage out of the total bid (I am not sure if they charge people for Listing). They get the money from the Listing Person and hold on to it until the Listing Person signs-off on the work.
I never had anyone kick back on my work such that I didn't get paid. Sometimes they kicked it back after an initial go at it, etc. I would just work to implement want they wanted and re-submit.
Sorry this is so long but I hate to be burned too.
Dr. Susie
Sorry but maybe too professional as in they want to know your life story and your future requirements at a price by the hour.
Ken
I gave fixed bids when I was there. I just plugged the hourly rate and then put the fixed rate in the bid.
I never signed up as someone looking to hire someone so I don't know what all they ask for.
All they asked me for, in order for them to pay me once I made money, was for my SSN for tax purposes. If I remember right they wouldn't even allow it to be done online. It had to be mailed or faxed or emailed using a pdf.
They are more pricey though.
Maybe if you PM some of the Ambassadors and ask them directly, maybe even Kyle.
Thank you I looked at their process and it was too demanding for me. They might do great work but I don't need to do more work for them and they get paid for that if you know what I mean. I do all the work and pay them no thanks
Ken
Try Canva.com and design your own, that's what I did for free! I've used fiverr for other wordpress things and really like the person who helped me, he did a good job and was reasonably priced
I've used Fiver frequently, and just today I had one of their people lose a website for me. Maybe we need to be careful here.
try bluedesigner07 at fiverr. That is who did my logo. I was very happy with him! Check out my logo at www.menandwomenrelation.com and see if you like it. He was great!
What happened at fiverr? They have rules, etc., too and don't want people to have bad experiences.....also, not sure exactly how detailed of a logo you have in mind?
Professionally done. i tried fiver and I got CRAP big time.
My 6 year old grandson can make them look stupid
Ken
The one thing with fiverr is that one really has to do some homework on a propective person before using them.....you got some good suggestions here......hope things work out for you....seems you sure get a 'full plate' at times......
I'd love to see the crap you got. I could use a smile.
I designed my own logo in Photoshop.
Rosie, I wanted to see what Kenny thought was crap first, heck he might think my logo is crap and then my feelings would be hurt. ;^)
I'm silly all of the time.
But, seriously, do you know how many websites Kenny has? Doing logos for him could turn into a full-time job, and I already have a full-time job. I wonder if he's offering, paid sick days and a 401K plan. 8^D
You could always just create a logo yourself for free, I'm sure that if you type into the search engine something like create your own logo, a lot of places will pop up. You could just use your an image you really like from the internet. Hope this helps Ken, if not I'm sure others will have way better ideas :)
Was it just one person? There are many (I had 20 different people do a logo for me) and a couple were hard to deal with, but the rest were great! Look at the logo on my website www.menandwomenrelation.com and see if you like it. If so, I can direct you to the gentleman that did it for me

How can I build a forum on my blog. I tried plugins but none of the work because they are too old. Can you suggest any plugins for me Or just how to do it please
Ken
And you've tried these?
http://www.elegantthemes.com/blog/tips-tricks/top-11-ways-to-add-a-forum-to-your-wordpress-website
Good info don but I have decided against any forum as I could not handle thousands of spammers hitting the forum
I just wont deal with these type of people
Thank you for the info though.
Ken
Haha! Yeah, that can be a real headache. I was going to say something, but good you figured it out already. Damn spammers.
I've been a member of http://www.progressiveears.org/forum/forum.php since 1999. It's a very busy place with, well, here are the stats: Members 3,361 Active Members 1,043. http://surfguitar101.com/ is very busy too. So I take it these forums are exceptional. I don't intend to contradict Alex - just to point out my experience with forums. These two are full of people with intense interest in those 'niches', though progressive ears has 'off topic' and 'way off topic' boards too.
I would highly suggest against starting a forum.
Over the past 7+ years I've started numerous forums and they all died.
1. There is a problem of inactivity. When new members join and see the forum is small and inactive - they don't come back.
2. There is a LOT of spam issues. It's actually very hard to prevent massive spam attacks to forums unless you spend a lot of money on that. (a lot of time as well).
3. Forums simply don't work anymore. The only forums that are still popular are forums that have been there for many many years. Reddit killed the forum game.
4. WA used to have a forum but it finally got rid of it, there is a reason for it ;)
5. If you get a 100+ members to the forum, it will drastically slow down your website. If you get a few hundred members on the forum at the same time - your hosting will probably crash for a while (unless you are paying $200 per month for a dedicated server).
... just a few thoughts ;)
I will take your advice and cancel it.
I was hoping to add a forum in my niche as there is not anyone else doing it plus I was hoping to attract visitors with it. Because of you suggestion I will delete it.
Thank you for your help all.
Ken
If my memory doesn't play tricks on me I think you can install a forum through CPanel access in a subdirectory of your website.
That should be just as easy as installing WordPress on your site.
I would like to know also. I was just going to use the comment section. But will check out bbpress.org
By adding a forum to your blog can you imagine the traffic. I am going to give it a whirl
Ken
Try some of these yet?
http://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/best-5-wordpress-forum-plugins-and-themes/
the best forum plugin I know of is bbpress.org
it is part of the wordpress family so easily integrates and is easy to manage
hope this helps

I wish to do a daily comment section on my blog. How do I do that without interfering with my blog roll? I want the blog roll to stay as it is but want to add a daily comment se
Yes I tried it out but used something else. A combination of a couple ideas and figured it out not perfect but to do the job.
Ken
I have it figured out Marion. What I did was post it and I will delete every day. Too easy as I have to go there anyway. Only wont show archives maybe.
Ken
Find a theme with three columns. One column for blog roll, one for daily updates and one for your widgets. Some themes support two columns of blog rolls. It will be in the theme design.
I have a three column theme but How would I desperate them without doing three posts every day. I will see if I can fin a two column blog roll somehow.
I would like to hear the answer. I had in mind something like 'news', with a similar set-up as your. Jovo
I was thinking one page but that probably wouldn't spark daily interest which is I would like to see. Keep em coming back.

I would like to make up my first training at WA and really dont know how to go about it properly.
Please give me the procedure and I will give it a try.
Ken
As long as you've been a Premium member for at least three months you can create training. To start click on the pen icon near your avatar on any page and select 'Create New Training'. You will then be given the choice of 'Tutorial' 'Video' or 'Course'. I always make a script in Notepad and type asterisks where I want to put in screen shots or illustrations. By doing that I can judge whether it should be Training or a blog post. A Tutorial has to be a minimum of four pages. A Video can be an 'over the shoulder' video of what's happening on your computer or even a PowerPoint show converted to video. I'm sure you qualify on the time frame requirement so 'GO FOR IT'. Good luck.
You can check out my Training at: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/marionblack/training

Oh well, I've just tried to create new training but a message popped up telling me that I couldn't because you have to be a premium member yet I AM a premium member! It must be a glitch :)

I am trying to set up ,an internal link for a one word in a post to another (same wrd description in another post). Basically an internal link.
Ken
Why does he have to know this . He is a very busy man at present and i don't want to bother him
Ken
Looks like Freedomseekr has your answer.and you are right we shouldn't bug him he has enough on his plate.
go to the page containing the word you want to link to, you have visual tab and text tab, click on text tab then look at this screenshot
http://screencast.com/t/uhlg1taHsGN
don't forget to update when done adding code
Now open the page that you want to link to the other word on the first page.
then look at this screenshot.
http://screencast.com/t/pKpOZKDw6P - in the screenshot I forgot to check the box for open in new window for the link
this is same thing welshy said just with a visual. hope it helps
This isn't the easiest to explain in a comment but you need to do the following:
Step 1: Edit the page you want to link to and in TEXT mode, locate the word or beginning of the paragraph it's on.
Add this code seen in screenshot http://take.ms/ASFwJ
(let's say the above page URL is http://domain.com/page2 )
Update the page.
Step 2: Edit the page you want to add a jump link to.
Highlight the word you want to add the link to and press the link icon.
Either paste in the other page URL or select it from the lower option.
Before pressing the Add Link button, you need to edit the link in the top field.
Would need to look like this:
http://domain.com/page2/#ZZZ
Needless to say ZZZ can be whatever you want.
I wish to make an internal link from a word on one page to the same word on another page and not to just the page url
Hi Ken,
I googled 'jumping to an anchor on a different page' and found this
******************************************************
Jumping to an Anchor on Another Page or Post
You can add a link to a heading on another page or post as well. Just use the following HTML link syntax, being sure to add a link to your destination page or post, along with a hash character (#) and the text of a heading on that page, using dashes to fill any spaces between words in the heading, like this:
Click me
So, for example, this code
The More Tag » Custom Read More Message
Will produce a link to the “Custom Read More Message” heading on our More Tag support doc, as you can see below.
The More Tag » Custom Read More Message
********************************************************************
So there is a way, you just have to dig around in the HTML a little
Hope this helps
I sure would like to know how and upsgirl has sp[ent two hours of her time without sucess.
We never did any html
Ken
Hi Ken,
Let me have the name of your blog and the title of the post and I'll write the HTML needed for you and tell you how to amend your blog post to get the linking working
Hi Ken,
I'm pretty sure you highlight the word and click the link icon in the editor then you have a choice to link to an external web resource or existing page. Select existing page and you should see a list of the resources on your site and elect the one you want to link with.
Hope I've understood your question correctly. Apologies if not
Ah Ok Ken sorry. Not sure about this one. Maybe have that word in the tag cloud for each post? Are you trying to link so that clicking takes you to that exact spot in the other post? Hope you find the answer you need
no it is not in the tag cloud. Upsgirl has been with me for two hours and cant figure it out.
Ken
Please, help him. A lot of us have done this but I cannot seem to help him...please, help! Guess you left me...no more PM...lol!
Hi Upsgirl,
Thought I'd explain to you how to achieve what Ken wants as your the Ambassador status you may have more comms channels open to you to help him
So basically he has to create the anchor on the post he wishes to jump to. So if the word he wants to jump to is 'Business' then he has to go into the text view of the editor where he will see the html and replace the word business with
This turns that instance of the word in that post to an anchor that he can jump to.
Now in the document or post that he wishes to jump from he again locates the instance of the word 'business' that he wishes to use as his jump point and again switches to the text view and replaces this
instance of the word business with
business
This turns this instance of the word business into a clickable link which when clicked will take the reader to the blog post in the url and start at the beginning of the line that the anchor was set
Hope this helps you help Ken. Feel free to contact me if you need any more help
Hi ups girl.
I just spend ages typing what you need to help ken and when I posted it it takes out all the html and shows just plain text so will mean nothing. Is there a way I can email you or contact you in some other way as I know how to hep him
He has to setup an anchor in the usual way but in the doc he wishes to jump from he has to use the entire and full url of the blogpost followe by the anchor reference to be able to jump to an anchor on another post
No Ken its word to word. The link goes to the start of the line the anchor is on in the new post. I'll try and send something but can't figure our how to get the html to stay showing in my replies
Hi Ken,
OK I've written out the method in a word doc and loaded it up to my website so you can down load. Hope this works
please < a href="http://www.thebusinessbuilderclub.com/Linking from one word in one post to a word in another post.docx">click here
Please copy the whole URL above and paste into your browser bar
from http to docx
Just tried it again and its OK. Don't just click the link showing as it cut it down and the first space. Copy the text above from http .......... through to and including docx then paste this link into your browser and go from there
Hi Ken,
No I've written out what you need in a word doc so I guess of you don't have MS office then it won't recognise it. I'll upload PDF versions of both if you give a minute
It's not too complex. Take a look at the pdf I uploaded for you and see
You can't do this in WP with a little HTML I'm afraid
Loes did a training on doing a link on same page, I would think you could apply it to this situation. Maybe? lol
Let me find that training for you. You could also PM Loes if you like.
Here's Loes' training: How to add an jump (anchor) link on same page
If you want to link the word to another page on your site, follow what upsgirl said. If it's linking word to word, look at Loes' training and reach out to her.
I sure hope so! I know how to do it but we weren't communicating...guess it was 3 hours...not 2, but who's counting!

Sorry I am not an html guy and never will be one. Thank yo for your help.
Ken
Sure! The final destination url (where you want us to land) needs to be copied. Head over to the ONE WORD (and while in your Edit screen) highlight the ONE WORD and see the chainlink in the center of your screen? Click to add a link. Paste your url you copied and paste. OPEN link in a new tab and SAVE. Let us know if it worked.
Yes. There is a link icon in the word editor that allows you to link a word or picture to another post, page, etc.
