I have two grown children and Three Granddaughters. I have recently relocated to TN but grew up in Western NY.

I'm down to 2 Labrador Retrievers (Left to Right, Gracie and Elphaba)and am a dog trainer in my spare time. I was a member of a local Search and Rescue team and was training one of my Labs for this endeavor (Far Left). She is progressing well. The of the other is certified Therapy Dog, I have taught puppy obedience classes at night.

I spent 2010 on the unemployment rolls and found this place while out of work. I was able to dig out of my hole and found WA to provide some additional income.

I have now been at WA for 7 years. I have learned many things about how to build sites and have developed many sites for clients. Affiliate income is slow for me but only because I have been helping businesses directly. I may focus a bit more on affiliate marketing in the near future.

Over the years I have raised Monarch butterflies and released them back to the wild.Since I have come to WA I have raised several crops of butterflies. The Butterflies were tagged and released in August and September 2010 and 2011 and another crop in 2012. I collected them from the area raised them to Chrysalis stage and when they hatched I tagged them and sent them on their way. I tagged and released 20 Butterflies in 2010 and 19 in 2011 since I ran out of tags, this year I only released untagged Butterflies but 19 more were release to the wild.

Again in 2014 I had a bumper year for the Monarchs. Over 60 made it to the wilds as adults. 2015 was also a good year. Sadly, there were no butterflies in 2016. 2017 will be a different year for me as I'm no longer in Western NY. In TN the monarchs arrive early and are still in their northward journey so I won't be able to raise the Methusela generation that migrates back to Mexico in the fall. I'll still be planting Milkweed and developing a Monarch garden but the Monarch project has probably come to an end for me.

Hi there. I saw the picture of the labs and that is how I decided who to pick to help me with level 2 lesson 9. Very scientific I thought. I have seemed to have a lab mix in my home at all times. There is also a corgi always. It feels a bit over flowing with animals here sometimes.
I was reading about your butterflies. I did not know that they were called "crops". I can't even imagine how you would tag them.
I have been in the animal field all my life. Computers, which I generally refer to as "evil TV.'s" , I know very little about. I also have no social media skills.
So this is a great choice for me , don't you think. Actually I have not asked anyone at the house to help me bcs they just lean over you and do it for you. I have actually figured out a lot more than I thought I was capable of.
Moving on, I have gone and started a G+ acct. I have fumbled around in there for a good while. I do not know how to drop it, or join it over to here.
I tried to do what someone suggested about going to my search bar on G+ but no luck. I also looked around on my profile there and any other button that I could push. UGH....

I love the picture of your labs. When I was 10, I got my first dog, half lab and half Akita, but looked mostly lab and had the personality. She lived to be 16, and when she passed she left behind so many people who remembered how smart and fun, and gentle she was, even as big as a sheep. lol

Excited to connect here on WA. Have a great night!

Craig,

A beautiful story about your Monarch project. It is nice to hear about other member's interests. An awesome niche.

I haven't started the Affiliate Bootcamp. I'm on track to build my niche for my volunteer groups I'm involved in since I'm the social media rep for at least two organizations not counting my own. I would like to work with non profits on writing content for their programs so they can gain more exposure online.

High Craig, at work now, Left you an email earlier; I think what I did wrong is delete the present products that you put in and went thru the process as per you video ,so will try not to delete them and just edit products as per the video , i am thinking that is the issue I am having. However if had no products on my site at all the process as per video should still work? Thanks again , Gary L>

Good day Craig, Going good thanks for the video; If I want to add say 50 products to my site will this automatically populate on my main page like I have it ? Also , in my back office if I want to create Another website for a diff product , do I just go to DIVI at bottom of my WP ? thanks Gary
Reply
Labman Premium
Another Website for a different product will require a new URL and a new installation of WordPress and another instance of the theme.

No, the way that the theme is currently set up, you would need to add the new products to the main page individually. You can duplicate the row and make changes but each one will need to be separate because of the way that Amazon Terms of Service are worded. Amazon doesn't want people creating Stores outside of Amazon so they make it difficult to do this and impossible to use the Woocommerce plugin for their products.
Reply
GaryLalande2 Premium
I will try Ali express as well, I think they all products in bulk all at once...they have a plug-in for this. In meantime will just duplicate rows with either Amazon or Ali, take it slow . So new sites just have more WP logins via Site Rubix - Thanks much Gary L>
Reply
Labman Premium
WA hosting is available for 25 sites that you own the URL. An additional 25 sites are available with the .siterubix.com extension. The siterubix sites have some limitations.

If you aren't using Amazon, the Woocommerce plugin should be usable for those products. This could simplify what you want to do.
I would make sure to continue with the WA training before you get too involved with adding products.

Good advice , will always use my own URL-Domain name- and use another DIVI THeme. THe THemes available to me in WP via WA are not that user friendly etc.,as you discovered; will cross that bridge when I get to it so they say. Taking more training , I def need it Lol.. chat soon

What interesting and awesome projects you've done! I've had labs around me since I was very young. The first lab my family had grew up with my sister and I so he was pretty much our brother! I'll tell you though, it was almost like losing a brother when he had to be put down. My sister currently has a chocolate lab that is like a giant teddy bear. He's so sweet.

But I digress. I'm a huge animal and nature lover so I think it is awesome what you've done/are doing. Thank you for following and I'm happy to connect with you here at WA!

Good evening Craig !
Your article about your dog's training and your activity among the Monarch butterflies caught all my attention . It must be captivating to work at different stages of the development of these " flying beauties of the wild " and it is sad to hear that they are a dying breed as you seem to acknowledge it ? Is it for this reason that you say that the Monarch project has come to an end for you ?
Anyway,I wish you good luck with your dogs and your activity with the butterflies for this year and would be interested in hearing about new developments.

I have relocated to Tennessee. The Monarch's population here is still moving North so the Methuselah generation doesn't occur here in this location.

It may still be possible to raise a few but not in the numbers that occurred when I was in Western New York.

Hey, I have a crazy, black lab you may be able to give me some tips on some time, lol! I also love to catch and release Monarch butterflies! I live in NH, and as you probably know, they were scarce in 2015 and 2016, but I was able to catch and release 20 in 2017! It was amazing! It was a great experience for my daughter and I. I only learned that I could've tagged them AFTER the fact, so that's something we can look into this year. Thank you for the follow, and I wish you much success in 2018!

She just turned 4 last week. We have taught her many tricks, and she loves to play hide & seek with my daughter. The problem is that she dislikes my husband! He was away overseas for 2 years (only visiting every couple months), and now she growls at him whenever he is in the room and doesn't let him touch her! It's really frustrating. He wants us to get rid of her, but I can't imagine doing that!

Oh my. Well, I recommend Puppy Ping Pong.
Treats I use are Microwaved Hot Dogs. Microwave them until they are like jerky. I slice them lengthwise into about 8 strips then microwave them. Paper towels absorb the grease.

Puppy ping pong is a way to strengthen the recall command and create trust. It sounds like the dog doesn't trust your hubby.
Position about 15 feet apart (in a controlled area- A fenced area is perfect). He holds the dog and you call her. She gets a treat when she gets to you. Turn her around and have him call her. Treat when she reaches him.

If she only goes to him reluctantly, he needs to make it fun for her. With Labs food is usually sufficient. If she doesn't come at all, shorten the distance. Have hubby use a high happy voice not a gruff man tone. He can also try standing in front, showing her the treat and taking a few steps backward while calling her.

5-10 minute sessions multiple times a day. if you can keep to a schedule, that works best for the dog.

There are a few people out there that raise butterflies. Not many understand how even less have the desire. So yes, it is rare to see someone raising butterflies.
I learned by doing. Years ago someone offered my Dad a Chrysalis. I picked up on the idea and ran with it.

Hi there Craig,
Dog trainer here as well. Wonderful to hear about your work with the monarchs.... very cool indeed. My daughter, also Gracie... but only with two legs, loves butterflies. We raised one as well that we found out on some plants in our flower beds. Aptly named the butterfly plant, we were so delighted to see that a monarch had come and created a chrysalis on our plant. We took the plant inside to our sun-room in a big old cheese puffs container and waited patiently for the magic to happen. It was so cool when it did! I know Gracie will never forget that and hope she does the same with her children when she gets old enough to have her own family! Good to see you on here and I may have questions later.

Thanks for the follow,
Jax

Craig I just read your Bio here and I pay attention to the migration patterns of the Monarchs and Birds as well.I've never raised them, but I shelled out a nice chunk of change to fill the old swimming pool hole with a butterfly garden for my wife Debbie. The most interesting visitor to our garden thus far has been a hummingbird moth. Also, my dad raised five generations of Golden Retrievers through my childhood into my adulthood. Gracie and Elphaba are beautiful dogs.

Love butterflies. One of the things that I do is create headbands and barrettes with butterflies. At one time we had a monarch butterfly in the house. Love your dog picture. I have two rescues. Your Monarch butterfly experiences really intrigued me as I used to live in Cape May NJ which was a Monarch butterfly stopping location. When my son was younger we volunteered for a program that tagged the monarchs to that they could be tracked. Not many people know about the Monarchs.

I was raised with black labs. My favorite memory when I was around 5, I let the pups out (which was a no no). I layed on the grass and the puppies crawled all over me, licking me puppy breath. Probably one of my youngest memories. When I think of that- its my happy place.

Hi, Craig. Enjoyed your profile. Labs are wonderful dogs. I had a black lab, Raven, that I trained and certified with Therapy Dogs International. She earned her Tail Waggin' Tutor title for 100 visits to libraries and schools to listen to kids read who are embarrassed to read in front of people. My first kid we worked with is in 5th grade now and is reading on an 8th grade level. Was several levels behind in first grade when he started reading to Raven. I lost her in 2014 to cancer, and I still miss her so much. I have a "pointador" that I rescued about 6 months ago, but she is not going to qualify for pet therapy because she is too shy and nervous. She's sweet, but I do miss my hobby and "my"kids. She just turned 2 in July, so there's still a lot of crazy lab puppy left in her. She's in her 3rd class (advanced) at PetSmart, but I am still having problems with her heeling/loose leash walking...still wants to pull. Any suggestions? But I digress. Just had to respond to you with a screen name like that! Back to WA, I am a newbie, just going through my first series of training videos. Very excited about the program and the community and really enjoying it. How about you? What's your status?
Reply
Labman Premium
When she starts to pull. Walk in the other direction. One quick jerk on the leash (no choke chain, just a flat collar) if she doesn't respond have a tidbit in your hand for when she does comply. 10 minutes of that and lots of changes in direction and she will be totally focused on you. She gets a bit of a treat then off you go. ( I use hotdog pieces microwaved to a jerky like texture, pea sized bits)
Keep the sessions short but do them 3-4 times a day.

We're dog lovers here, too! Nice to meet you! Our two Australian cattle dogs are super smart (Lassie-level smart, I like to joke) but they can be very capricious.

Oh, Monarchs. I envy you this hobby. One of my most beautiful childhood memories was laying still on the grass in the late afternoon of summer, and have a swarm of these orange butterflies land all over me.

I'm on the east coast of Australia, what kinds of plants do you recommend I plant in the garden to encourage them to visit?

Bright colors and nectar bearing flowers are usually effective at bringing the butterflies. I'm not familiar with your native species but here in the states the Butterfly bush and purple cone flowers are quite effective.

Hello Labman. Thank you for the follow. I am following you back. Wow. I think its great that you did a search and rescue. I think its very interesting that you worked with butterflies. I think they are beautiful species. I used to do bird watching and I would see beautiful butterflies. I wish you success on your journey. Sounds like your doing awesome!

Hi! Mr. Labman, I enjoyed your colorful note on a personal adventure, which definitely benefits the nature and social harmony. Now, I am on my 3rd day of Premium to explore what online business may/can do for me. In using WP platform, I found this platform is not as versatile and functional for editing as what I expected from those in Microsoft Office or Open Office. Please just take a look at the only page, HOME, that I just published and perceive what I meant. Of course, be my critic. Again, it is nice to know you and hopefully learn more from you. Best wish to success,

Hi Labman, I love your passion for labs and in particular for Monarch butterflies. I do hope that you have a bumper crop of Milkweed and that you continue to raise the Monarchs. As an avid gardener I appreciate what you have been doing. May success come long and full for you in the coming years. Thanks for the follow.

Thanks for the follow :) I love dogs and just recently we got a 3 month old plot hound mix who's adorable :) I'm impressed and proud with how you've raised butterflies. I've always enjoyed them. You should be proud you helped longer than tons of people who don't even think about the little fellows and can still enjoy them even though your time raising them is over. Best of luck with your endeavors!

Hi its nice to see another animal lover on here. Is your niche about animals? Mine is about animal abuse vs mental illness. There is a direct link between the two. I have a Bachelors degree in Sociology and an Associate in Theology. I say this because I just want people to know I do know something about this.

Hello, Craig. I just wanted to stop and say publically that I appreciate you bunches as I have had several people tell me at various times that you have referred them to my trainers. That seems like such an honor coming from you as your training has helped me out tremendously and please know that I am one bear that appreciates you bunches.

Again, buddy, thank you

I don't have a problem directing people to training that is well done and effective. I don't see a reason to direct people to training that has been duplicated dozens of times inside WA. Yours is typically a quality training that is effective and well done.

Hi thanks for following. Butterflies are pretty but I wouldn't like to be around them when they are... um... caterpillars! NOooo XD terrified of them. In May when we had that huge caterpillar migration (that's what I call it) at work. I did not want to go to work! NO WAY!

I went home and cried my eyes out for three days to my husband. Lol silly me. Sorry got excited!

I am also born and raised in New York but I live in Las Vegas. For me it has been and still is hard to adjust. The East coast lifestyle and West coast lifestyle are very different I find it very interesting reading about how you raise and release Monarch butterflies into the wild every year...that's amazing. My daughter and myself love all living creatures especially dogs. Very interesting bio.

Your work with butterflies is wonderful. The loss of these beautiful creatures is awful and anything that redresses that balance is wonderful to hear about.

Good luck getting your affiliate income moving - clearly you are someone who knows how to commit to, and move forward, a project you believe in.

Thank you for your offer to help and I am taking you up on that. I am referring to the video in Course 1, Lesson 9 I believe. Kyle is showing how we change the privacy policy to our own website name we created in WA. But when I went to do that I noticed my privacy policy had already been updated with my domain name, so I didn't need to do that step. In other words I didn't have to go thru the policy and change it from siterubix to my domain name. I hope I am making sense here. And he said we also would have to update google analytics. I don't know what that is or how to do it.
Reply
Labman Premium
Go into GA and create a new entity with the new website name then add the tracking code to All In One SEO. In a couple of days you will start seeing the traffic from the new code to the site. In 30 days you can remove the siterubix site from Google Analytics and use the new one exclusively.

Hi Craig, thanks for the follow (I've followed you back :) ).
What great interesting and unusual projects you are involved with!
I've heard about tagging birds (since my homeland, Israel, is in the middle of the birds migration from Europe to Africa and back), but this is the first time I hear about butterflies tagging!

BTW, don't know if you know that (I guess you probably do :) )...Methusela is a Hebrew name from the bible of a man who lived for almost 1000 years!)

Wishing you huge success!

Yes, I am aware of that reference. The migrating generation is extremely long lived, hence the name.

Oh my goodness! First of all, thank you for the follow. But butterflies....I absolutely love them; always have. Found one the day of the eclipse in the grass. I bent over and it crawled onto my finger. I think one of its wings was torn. But anyone who cares about these beauties has my admiration up front.

I lived 5 years in Knoxville so am familiar with TN. Let me know how 2017 is with the butterflies and hopefully more success for you in affiliate marketing.

Hey Labman thanks for following me and I enjoyed reading your story, which I have a question about. After you tag the butterflies and release them, Do people contact you when they find them and read the tag. I wish you lived near Philly because I could use your dog training expertise to help with a dog that we rescued from a shelter about a year ago. The shelter and our Vet both told us in the beginning that he might reach 70 lbs. Well he's about 14 months old now and was 105 lbs about a month ago at his last Vet appt. He still hasn't filled out yet either. He's not a bad dog or mean or anything like that. I just wish that he would respond a little quicker when I'm calling for him. Any Suggestions? Thanks for talking to me. You were the 1st member to do so and I appreciate it. Have good day

you might find this post helpful. http://candres.siterubix.com/the-recall-or-come-command/

From the first blog I did here so it is a bit older post but the technique is sound. Basically, you want to make coming to you the best thing in his life. A good high value treat is the key. It doesn't have to be food although if that is his motivation this will work well. I have one that goes nuts for a toy and another that is ball crazy so much that she will dive under a bag full of hot dogs for her ball.
Whatever motivates him the best should be used to treat them on the recall command.

Hi Craig,

Thanks very much for your help with my menu confusion, it works just as I wanted it now.

I have only one concern, it is that if you look at my website: https://easytoretire.com you can see the first post on the home page "Your 1st Step To An Easy Retirement - Wealthy Affiliate", then it appears also under menu "Highly Recommended", sub menu (as a post), "Wealthy Affiliate", just as I wanted it. My concern is that, is it not considered as a "duplicate post" or "plagiarism" by Google?.

Thanks again for you response.

Dear Labman, First off I find your activities and endeavors fascinating. Truly! I am from Rochester NY which I believe qualifies as western NY! From 1961 to 1988 it was home, and the best aspect of living there for me was the sport of snow skiing which I began at age 3. The best skiers in the world are ones that learned on icy slopes. Desperately want to know if you sent this to me personally, by choice, or was it sent randomly (cuz I'm new here) along with the 4 or 5 others I'm about to read. Fellow native New Yorker, out. P.S. I'm in Palm Desert, Ca. now where it was 124 degrees the other day! O.M.G.! Right?

Some of your posts, I have read in the past similar during my research what is important to implement on your website. I surely will read the other ones and implement what I learn from your posts, thanks! Have you ever considered to write a post about the sound to be used on websites? I think 432hz will be the way to go as it will give a positive experience to any user when they hear it. I do not think many have thought about that. Would you be interested to create a blog with me about this, so we can teach others too?

Please keep up the good work and be here around for us, you are an amazing person!
