About Donco6
Joined July 2014
Hi everyone, my name is Don and I live in Denver, Colorado with my partner of 20 years, Dwaine. We enjoy traveling, meeting new friends, talking over dinner and just enjoying everything life has to offer.

Being newly retired from 20 years running the operations for a school district, I am able to devote more time to my personal hobby: Baking. I specialize in sweet treats, but I love baking all kinds of things, from breads to cakes to fancy rolls and more. I also love decorating, so you'll see photos of my latest creations occasionally. There's always something to learn, especially when baking at altitude like we do here in Denver.

We also own a cabin in the mountains of South Park, Colorado (yes, THAT South Park!) Baking at 9500 feet can be a real challenge, and that is the niche that I am pursuing with my internet business. I have a built-in test kitchen where I can try the latest products and produce reviews to direct my readers to the best items for solving those difficult baking problems.

I look forward to learning more about the process for setting up a business and making some money. And I look forward to making new friends too!

Hi. After seeing your comment on chat, I thought I'd follow you. Didn't expect to discover that you are nearly my neighbor. lol

I live and work between Colorado Springs and Denver.

Cool niche.... I am one of those types that fantasizes about cooking, even buying the cookbooks, have a website with a collection of baking videos. Yet I can't remember the last time that I actually baked anything. I get more excited about the idea of taking pictures of the food. lol

I hope you have a great Sunday!

I have a brother in Fairplay. Wonderful country. Looked at your web page. I come from german-russian heritage and beirocks were a staple growing up in Commerce City, Co. Ours were made with white flour bread, cabbage onions and lots of pepper.
I still make them about once a year. I joined WA about 2 weeks ago. working on a web page.

Another sale today. Amazon is the best thing to happen to me in this endeavor. I wasn't able to use it, because Colorado refused to allow it. But since that's changed, I've actually seen regular sales on my site. Makes it more fun and interesting!

Hello Don - I'm following your experiences - PLEASE keep on telling us about the 'fish you catch'. I'm new to WA so have not had the pleasure of catching a FISH thru WA.
I can imagine your home in Colorado at 9500 feet - WOW. I've been skiing at Steam Boat Springs and at a place near VALE.

For us guys 'out of Africa' - Colorado is like being on another Globe!!! Next to the Indian Ocean in a place called Durban is worlds apart.

Thank you for your encouragement - your success encourages me to do more!!

Hello, I also live in Colorado. Just found out that Amazon does not allow affiliates from Colorado. Do you know why that is? Anyway, congratulations on your sale. I am looking forward to my first sale as well .... once everything is up of course:-).

I just saw where Colorado will not be able to participate in Amazon affiliates. They've changed the law. More to come.

Love your site, Don! And this was news to me - that it is different to bake in higher altitudes! I too enjoy baking, just made a blueberry pie with blueberries that I picked myself. And then like always thought: why don't I do this more often? Your site is inspiring, thank you!

You are very, welcome, Jovestone. Your English is excellent! I envy your mastery of language.

You'll have to share your pie recipe with me. Blueberry is my favorite.

Hi Don, I just spotted you and wanted to connect! I love that you are so passionate about baking. I've just taken a peek at your website and it looks great!
I visited Denver (from the UK) in May 2011, only for six days though, to attend an Internet marketing training conference! It was a pity I didn't have more time there but I loved it and did manage to see Bono play at the mile high stadium! (Have just discovered that I share the same birth day as Bono although he's a smidgen younger than me!)
Wishing you all the best. :)

It is probably the best I have seen here. Maybe you can teach us how you custom designed that beautiful banner photo. I also wanted you to know that your cauliflower link I posted on my personal website is getting a lot of likes and shares. I added it to my Pinterest board too, who knows what is going to happen there. You have a great niche and are going to do so well with this!

Thanks, Kyle. Just watching the lessons and reading some of the blog posts now. I can see some ideas on how I might be able to create several niche markets - high-altitude, organic baking, organic and natural decorating, fun easy decorating for kids' parties, and perhaps even setting up a "new and used" warehouse for baking tools, specialty pans, etc. Looks like some good tips on here.
