How do I cancel my account? To be more specific, the recurring charges.
Go to your profile then account settings and cancel all future payments then logout and you will no longer be a member

I'm trying to use wpbackup (which has worked in the past), I'm getting the following:
Cannot create folder: /mnt/vhosts/betterwaytolive.net/httpdocs/wp-content/uploads/bac
I removed the suggested backup plugin up-- something, removed the backWup I installed from the early training here. Did a search for WPbackup which showed 4 stars and installed it.
It backs up to my website and defaults to 11 pm daily. Selected the run now option and everything appears to be working now.

First step try this
deactivate the plugin and re activate it again
Have you just upgraded to WordPress 4.0
Secondly deactivate each of the other plugins one at a time because it sounds like there is a conflict going on
So deactivate each plugin one at a time then see if the problem goes away then you will no what the conflict is

It is basically telling you it can't create the folder. It might have to do with where you are trying to creat this folder. I would log out ,then reload and try again. If u still get this message; see if you can email it to yourself, or down load it to your computer. At least that way you will have a back up.
Not sure if this is correct, but it may be that your file space on the server has all been used up. If you are not down loading and then deleting backups this can be an issue.

Yep it would have helped, but my problem is WPbackup USED to work and now doesn't. When I found out it wasn't working because of a cron problem???? the explanation said something about no (or low) traffic being the problem. I have NO traffic, so that explains why the automatic portion no longer works.
This is a new error when I try to select "run now".
I'm sure it's an obvious thing and I'm not seeing it. However, I'm not the only one that will learn here. I know I've had SO many answers before I got frustrated enough to ask myself.

I was reading a post today about backup plugins. Anyway, I went into my site and tried to verify that my backups were still working and love and behold, nope.

Don't feel bad. Operating a computer is like driving a car. You may know how to run it, but not necessarily HOW it runs.
Going through that right now as well. Sometimes I "space out" in the truck and have to stop and think about each thing I'm doing. Thank God I traded up to an automatic a few years ago. Actually it was right before the MS starting getting aggressive. Guess some part of me knew something was wrong.
Yeah I suppose I'll have to put in a support ticket. I'm just trying to get it figured out first.
1) I hate to bother someone as busy as they are
2) If I figure it out, I'll remember what I did.
3) It's going to be something really stupid that I did and I want the embarrassment! Yeah, like asking and showing my insanity to the whole world is not going to be embarrassing!

I had an Ahhh Haaa moment today with that lingo...its all good just follow the prompts and you should be fine.
Unfortunately, one of the messages that came up said the backup is not working because my wp-cron process isn't running. I understand why it isn't, just not sure what to do about it.
In the meantime, I can use the export tool. That gives me a backup and if I have to do the import (God forbid) I'll deal with it then. The test import I did tonight was NOT pretty so I better get that figured out before I need it.

You know how WA says ask a question and leave a ? mark after IT, it works the same way when your in a browser...Just ask a question with a ? mark after IT and you may find the answer you are looking for. IT is always there, just have to recognize IT. Think out of the box, all good training comes from within how you perceive to find and recognize what information you are looking for. Today I had to run to the store, just up the street and around the corner. Well coming back I missed my turn and got LOST. Not five blocks from home in a small town and I got lost. Panic setting in, just not pretty.
Sometimes I swear the brain just goes out to lunch and forgets to come back. Maybe it missed the same turn.
Gotta watch Dr Who on BBC, do I turn right or left that can really screw up the whole program...Lol! Very cool show by the way, gotta love a time traveler in a box, his line of thinking is bigger on the inside...What? Lol.
I never could watch that one. My sense of humor leans more to "mathematical pies don't spoil" When my teacher pulled that one, I totally lost it.. For a month every time he walked in, laughter took me over. Had the whole class laughing asking each other what was so funny, which set me off again. No it's not funny, it was my mood, and the way he was holding his hands. You really had to be there. Anyway, I got the reputation for having no sense of humor. I have one, it's just warped.

The file they're referring to is the wp-config.php. In order to edit this file, you will have to do it via FTP. However, without looking at it I'm not sure exactly what the problem is. What did they tell you to edit in wp-config.php?
This is a copy of the file it linked off to. Something about if this was expected. Don't know if it was expected or not, but somewhere it said if I didn't have traffic this would happen. Probably my queue got filled up with uncompleted backups and it shut down the cron process. (guessing from my long ago Unix days)
Guess I'll try Russ's suggestion, but I'd rather get the plug-in working. I'm "lazy"

intentionally, so be aware that they may re-disable it. Or, it may be something
that you did intentionally, and you may have set another means of calling

note that it is then your responsibility to make sure that the scheduler is
called frequently enough to process all the jobs scheduled on your site. No
backups, even those scheduled with “Backup Now” will run until the time that

Personally I use Updraft Plus for backups. It's simple to use, and I've never had any issues. You might give that a go.
Trying to convert to updraft is how I discovered my backups weren't working. Made that change last night but couldn't connect to dropbox so I decided to get some sleep and try again today.
Every time I think I have accomplished something, the world gives me a wake-up call. I am so good at finding new and exciting ways to break things!
I changed nothing, but it's working this morning. go figure. One step forward, two steps back. Still got that cron error, but that's not critical at the moment. got a backup so all is good.
I'll try not to break anything else (today). Thanks.

I remember this training video, don't remember exactly where but I went through it complete with restore. Not pretty, but it's a good backup UNTIL I get the other easier to use one figured out.

Like with filezilla? My computer background is more multe-user systems and I always felt PC stood for Piece of Crud.
Hence the real reason I have problems with things that make sense. My brain just doesn't work that way. ;-)

Well it's what they use in the training here and I'm new to this concept I guess I'm saying I don't know any better. :-) What do you use? There are a couple of things I wish it did differently.
Don't get me wrong. WP is a great platform. But there so much to get your head around. So I just pay a little extra and use Weebly
Drop &Drag; web builder. It is something that I am comfortable with.
But as they say "Different folks Different strokes"
I almost went with Weebly because I saw how simple it was to navigate and add stuffs to the site. But I thought we were supposed to use WP here at WA. It's quite confusing, but I'm hoping to get the hang of it.
No not at all, Kyle and Carson have provided WP to you as part as your benefits of paying a monthly subscription but there is no obligation to use it if you don't wish. But as I said WP is a great platform if you take the time and Patience to learn it. I found as you have seen that Weebly is so easy navigate. Thats why it is my personal choice.

Hi. Dropbox has worked for me really good for storing files. It's free and you can even share folders if you wish. Now... in my opinion is much better if you have an external HD and store there all important stuff you have in your computer. It's the best and safest way I think.

External hard drive are great,
howvever, they are electronics and they also crash.
I personally lost a great deal of inof when my external
hard drive crashed out of the blue.
Now I use Google Drive which you can also share files
with you close friends and family from
