New post on how to backup your WordPress site

Nothing earth-shattering here, but perhaps helpful to some of the newer members who have not yet gotten around to backing up their WordPress websites and want some direction.

You'll see that I actually point to an excellent training that Welshy (Craig Smith) posted on this topic within WA (and also on YouTube), so my article is really just emphasizing the importance of backing up your website(s) and summarizing the steps required and then pointing people to the more detailed training.

Please check it out and let me know what you think.

Thank you,

Patrick

P.S., Special thanks to WA member, RichP, for answering some of my questions pertaining to the BackWPup plugin and Dropbox and also providing some information pertaining to another backup plugin.

Thanks for the information. I just installed Updraftplus and it has put my backup in my dropbox folder.

You're welcome, Patrick

Hi Patrick, you have brought up a really important issue. I lost a site because I didn't back it up. I hope your readers take heed. Thanks

Sandy,
Thank you for your comment. It's easy to think that because nothing bad has happened yet, it never will -- but as we all know, bad things do occasionally happen (even to good people :). As it stood, I had waited far too long to finally backup my sites and was fortunate that I did not experience any site loss prior to that point -- I think I would have been devastated to have lost all of that work.
Thanks again for emphasizing the importance of this issue.
Have a great weekend!

Hey Patrick, thanks for the great post. Used it and commented/sharred. Thanks so much.

Not sure if you have time, but if you wouldn't mind checking out one of my latest post and leave me any feedback or comments that would be appreciated.

I would like to give you some feedback about your paragraphs. You'll find that Kyle talks of this frequently in bootcamp, but keeping your paragraphs to 2-5 lines makes it a much more enjoyable experience for the modern day reader. Just a thought. But good post, well written and easy to follow.

Cheers,
Todd

Todd,
Thank you for your feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed the post and found it helpful. Also, thank you for the word of advice...I remember Kyle talking about that, and I need to work on it ;)

I'll take a look at your post and get back to you with my thoughts.
Regards,
Patrick

Thanks for sharing Patrick

Thanks for sharing Pat have a great day

I've been using Dropbox as per Welshy's tutorial. Its very easy to instal, and completely automatic for backing up, if you so choose.
I know that some businesses also use Dropbox.

I do have wordpress and am using a plugin called back draft

Hi Patrick - sorry but I dont use Wordpress yet. I use the WOW computer primarily which backs up everything I do automatically, now and then. It has a built in writing program. Just to be on the safe side, I also have a laptop that I transfer a lot of important stuff too, just for safe keeping. Thanks though, I will put your info on file for future reference. Correction, it was WA member "@Rich" who answered my questions about the backup plugin and Dropbox.
