Hi friends,

I'm still getting the Site title in Yoast. Wonder what's up?

I wish I knew, but I'm still learning on how to use Yoast. I think your Site Title was set to a default unless you change it.

Honestly, I'm struggling with this myself.

There are several answers in google:

1. Changing the "Template" meta for Homepage like in this youtube video: https://goo.gl/sILxBH

This is the easiest way, but I don't understand why Yoast use a 'template', not Homepage focus keyword.

If that's not working, see below:

2. If you are using static page as your homepage, try this suggestion: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/adding-meta-description-to-homepage-using-yoast

3. If you are using blog roll as your homepage, try this suggestion: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/how-do-i-add-a-page-description-to-the-home-page

Hope that can helps.

Surely there has to be an option in Yoast like there is with All In One SEO. The latter makes it so easy to enter the Site Title, Site Tagline, and Site Description so they will appear exactly the way you want in search engine.

I will check out the link you provided. Thank you.

Yes Tina. I see that many people out there confused with this matter too. If the solution is indeed as simple as the video link (solution no 1), why Yoast don't change their label description to Site Meta Title and Site Meta Description instead of Homepage template.

The word 'template' makes the use of this setting ambiguous, in my opinion.

Hope that works :)

Hi Everlight. I just watched the video and hopefully the solution is simple as shown.

I was thinking same thing: Why is Yoast using the term "template"? It's confusing because I thought I have to enter some kind of string or code. I agree with you. :)

Yes Tina. I hope so too :) If it's working kindly update us :)

Hi friends,

How can I get a feature that lets readers opt in if they want to get notified of a reply to their comments? They have no way of knowing if I've replied to t

Did you ever get a good answer to this issue? I have been struggling with this for a while now. I tried Yoast comment hacks, but it didn't do what it said it did. And I am trying wp discuz on one of my websites, but I am not convinced it is working either. And it doesn't work at all when some one comments on a category post, so it doesn't work for my other website.

The "Send email only on Reply to My Comment" appears to be totally outdated, and I can't find anything else. It seems like it should be such a common issue that it would be easy to get an answer, but apparently not.

Please help if you can

Thanks, Jamie

Hey Jamie,

Think I can help you both with this issue: Sorry ... I didn't see Tina's question until now.

Hope this helps you BOTH.

Thanks! I will check it out!

Hello, I watched the video. Some else actually recommended that plugin to me also. I was just a little worried about it because it says it only has 200 active installs and it hasn't been updated in 9 months

Hey Jamie,

It is entirely up to you whether you want to use it or not. I have found it to be the perfect resolve for me, which is why I shared it here.

I appreciate it very much. Thank you!

Firstly check your comments settings in your theme via the WordPress dashboard. Some have it built in but you need to manually check the box to enable it

Thanks for the suggestion. I looked into my theme, but there isn't any option for readers to opt in if they want to be notified of a reply to their comments.

Hi Tina, you can use a plug-in called "Send email only on Reply to My Comment"

Hi Everyone!

I found a code at WPBeginner site that publishes "Last Updated On" date stamp for blog post. When I pasted the code in Text mode, the line shows "Last Updated

In my theme, the code is located in two files that show the post date/time - index.php and single.php.

The index.php is usually the home page and the single.php is the file that shows the full post. The code needs to be the same in both where you would change the date/time.

I went to Appearance > Editor, scrolled down the right menu to find the index.php and the single.php and changed the code in each of those.

It is usually located in the part that defines the division class, e.g. under: < div class="postdate" >

Unfortunately, unless you are using a child theme, the code will be removed when the theme, or in some cases when WP is upgraded. Once you know how to do it, I guess it would be easy enough to replace it each time.

However, I don't know if the code that WP Beginner provides would work in every theme. I asked my theme developer and he gave me the correct code.

If you mess it up, you can break your site. Be sure to copy and save the original code page into notepad first before you try anything, in case you need to put back the original version of the code.

Thanks for the link. I had already went there, but tutorial did not help.

Sorry, that one did not help. Have you looked at this one? Granted it talks about the genesis framework but it also mentions a wp source code.

you can't paste code in questions or blogs unfortunately - it doesn't show as code lol
maybe put it in a doc and take a screenshot?

Hey, I see you're back! Yeah, I didn't know that codes can't be pasted. I'll try another way.

WA Affiliate Program
Updated

When I checked my e-Mail, I received message from WA:

Hi Tina,

Great news! A new member at Wealthy Affiliate just accepted your invitation to try

Congrats Tina, this is no glitch as has been explained below! :)

Great!

grats

There's a possibility they came to WA by one of your posts here at WA. Everything you post here is indexed.

If you go to you WA Affiliate program you can see how many clicks have come to WA through one of your posts.

Hi Dustin. When you said that everything we post here is indexed, do you mean by Google? I thought everything that's posted here at WA stays inside.

And, I do not have any WA affiliate links on my website because my website is about fitness. I'm not very savvy with internet marketing.

The things that you post here in the WA can get indexed in the search engines.

And that content (the url) has your affiliate link embedded within it. So as DustinG said that's more than likely how they ended up here and how they became a referral.

I think most of the posts are indexed in Google and the other search engines. So, even if you don't have your affiliate link out there, you still have the possibility of bringing people into WA in that manner.

I know for me, there are about 10 people a day clicking into WA through my posts showing up in search results on Google. If one of them signs up, I get credit for the referral.

I can't say for sure if this is how you got that referral, but given your explanation it's what makes most sense for me.

If you click on "WA Affiliate Program" on the left, then click on "Stats" at the top. Then scroll down to "Detailed Stats" and see if you have any "Clicks (Content)" showing up in the graph. For me, it shoes up as a pink line.

I had no idea, Leo! Thanks for further explaining it.

That is awesome to know (about WA postings and indexing). I appreciate you explaining or providing your theory, and will definitely keep in mind as to what you said. Thank you, Dustin.

Dustin, I forgot to ask you... by "posts", do you mean WA blogs (and maybe Questions we ask and Trainings we create)?

I'm not exactly sure, but I'm pretty sure posts are indexed. I don't know what else is.

Yes it's post (blogs) you create

Someone has signed up for the free trial through your affiliate link. You will get 1 credit, or a dollar, as soon as they fill out their profile and add a picture.
Congratulations :)

I hope you're right, Shawn! I could use a dollar! Lol.

Get on them to set up their account and its all yours :)

That sounds like a glitch in the system. Copy and paste that in a message to Kyle. Good luck!

My 1st thought was to contact Kyle, but I thought I'm supposed to ask community for help first. Thanks for suggestion, Donna.
