Okay, my apologies for this, but I have wasted days trying to fix/understand this

I have at least 100 pictures downloaded to my pc. I have always been able to pull them

Have You tried a different browser? Which browser are You using?

No, I haven't tried that. Appreciate your suggestion.

Did you upgrade to WIN 10?

No, I read about how bad it was. Thanks!

Meredith,
When I have problems loading pictures to my websites, I reboot my computer and that solves the situation. I don't know why but it helps. I use Google Drive to store my pictures to download to website.
John

Thank you, and yes I did reboot my pc. It didn't fix it. Appreciate your input, thank you.

Hello Meredith,

To be honest: I do not have the immediate solution, but I was wondering if it is only related to the WA website (blog/question/PM/...) or is it also a problem when you want to add an image to one of your websites?

Because that's completely another system and if it the problem is also there when you want to add an image to your website, then I think you (or we) have to start thinking that there is changed something on you computer the last days and that it is not related to the site....

Grtz,
Bert

I wish it was just WA, but it's not. Thank you for your help, I appreciate it.

I would try to start with disabling the antivirus (and all other tools related) and then try again...

Hope it solves the problem...

Guess it's worth a try, thank you.

Hello, and thanks in advance. I'm wondering IF I need both Backblaze & Dropbox for backing up my sites, etc?

Or, if any of you use something else that you like more.

Thanks for posting this Meredith, I have also been wondering.

Good! Looks like we can save money if we don't really need Backblaze. Hope I can get a refund.

I use the import/export feature in tools with the plugin.......Scotty B

Okay, thanks for the info. What about backing up your entire computer?

A Quick and easy way is just drag and drop your important files to an external hard drive. Otherwise a more involved way is to use your windows recovery disk and a backup program. I use the first way for a little piece of mind til I figure out the second way.......Scotty B

Thanks again!

I think this may help answer your question :

Thanks Kav, appreciate it!

I automate my backup with WordPress plugin. It's been great for me. I don't have to worry about losing my files. I don't think dropbox is for website storage.

Thanks!

Looks like you got your answer and you helped me too. I did not know this info. Thanks everyone, and good luck. Truly Lisa

Ditto! This was more helpful than I imagined.

So my understanding is that Dropbox (not too sure about Back blaze) is mainly for file storage. Not website storage, at least I don't think DropBox would be ideal for it. There are plugins in wordpress that you can use, here's an article I found on it. Someone in the comment section said they're using Better WP security, but there are others. I'm not sure which is the best one, but hopefully this article will help you! Hope this helps. http://www.copyblogger.com/wordpress-website-backups/

Appreciate you help and time. Many Thanks1

I use Google Drive for backups. You can also use AmazonS3 as a repository for your backups. AmazonS3 is free for the first year and pennies per month after that.

Interesting, so you don't use or need a service like Backblaze? Thanks Craig, appreciate it!

Nope, if you want to automate your backups, you can use a wordpress plugin.

I'm looking for Safe, Simplicity and not too Expensive. I just can't keep up with all the passwords I have anymore and I really need to simplify it.

Who would know bett

I am using Dashlane and it is free. If you use my link you can get pro for free for 6 months but entirely up to you.
I've been using it for almost a year now and have no complaints.

I use Last Pass FREE it has worked very well for me. With LP you only need to remember just 1 master password. I don't think having passwords on paper is a good idea. If your comfortable with this then that's what matters! What is nice about LP is when you login somewhere it will ask if you want to save this login, if you click save, you will never need to type your login again. It will log you in automatically from there on. Now if you wish to keep a password on paper you will only need the LP master password. I have many logins, but only need 1 password. I hope this helps! :)

Best!

William

Thank you, Last Pass seems to be the winner here. Appreciate your help!

My pleasure! A paper can be read by anyone, but a locked vault can not! :)
William

Hello dear,

I use excel for my passwords. Just build yourself a small spread sheat and print it out.

I never thought about that.Good idea, thank you!

I don't see you on chat anymore. I miss you my friend. :)

I hope to be more active soon. It has been a miserable summer. Our house flooded for the 1st time ever and then I had about 100 Bees in the house with us. It was scary and exhausting. Luckily I only got stung once and Hannah not at all, thank goodness.

Last pass for me. They have a free and a paid version. Free does what I want it to do.

10-4 on that!

For IT professionals I recommend and use RoboForm. For home use I recommend LastPass. I have never had a problem with either, however some of my professional colleagues have stories about being locked out with RoboForm. It has not happened to me... But that does not mean anything I am just one person and there is a whole big world of experience is out there

I'm sure it's been mentioned here, but I've been using LastPass for a while now. It's made things simpler for me and helped me save lots of time.

Thanks, that's what I'm looking for, a time saver.

I have used RoboForm for many many years. I'm completely happy with the security but with a catch.

I only use RoboForm on my laptop. I searched for any recent articles about any vulnerability in the desktop version and I couldn't find anything that says RoboForm is vulnerable.

Smart phones and RoboForm Everywhere is a different story. The smart phone ap and RoboForm Everywhere (on their servers) may be vulnerable if you know what you are doing.

Smart phone - someone would have to get their hands on your phone to hack your passwords. Savvy hackers would know what to do from there. The average joe would not.

RoboForm Everywhere - this is a service by RoboForm where they store your passwords and data on their computers so you can access the passwords from any device. Again, hackers could potentially get at this data.
http://thehackernews.com/2014/07/critical-vulnerability-and-privacy.html
https://paul.reviews/how-secure-is-roboform-the-5-minute-challenge/

I do not use RoboForm Everywhere. I don't trust anyone to protect my data on the Cloud or on their computers. I won't set up an account at RoboForm.

The only thing I use is the desktop version of RoboForm. It resides on my computer and nowhere else.

You set a master password to lock the system from anyone who might get ahold of your computer. Be careful. Once you set the password then if you forget the password there is no way to retrieve the master password again. You data is eternally locked. Not even the RoboForm company can get in.

My master password is very strong. I will give anyone $100.00 if they can break my password. I use letters, numbers, upper case, lower case, and shuffle all that up into something that doesn't make sense except to me.

As long as you do not use the smart phone app and not use RoboForm Everywhere then you will have an easy to use desktop password manager. I love the product and don't see a need to change to something else.

Also, the desktop version is free.
http://www.roboform.com

That was a lot of information, thank you. I had never heard of robofrom.

"My master password is very strong. I will give anyone $100.00 if they can break my password. I use letters, numbers, upper case, lower case, and shuffle all that up into something that doesn't make sense except to me"

Any password can be hacked! The average home PC users password can be hacked in about 3-6 hours, sad but true! You were smart to use a long and complex password. Using 2 or more high end PC's and password cracking software can and will crack any password. This is how hackers hack sites that seemed secure all over the world. Even the pentagon has been hacked for example, as has a long list of govt. sites, I could fill this page with sites who's passwords were hack. The truth is no one is safe another reason why security experts are making a move away from passwords. Bio metrics is the future, finger print readers and eye scanners are already is use. It then would be impossible to defeat this system. However for most of use we still have to rely on passwords.

I have tried everything I know of to remove Safe Homepage in Firefox. Uninstalling and re installing the Firefox toolbar, uninstalling from my laptop, adware remover, virus remo

Meredith, I am assuming you have already taken care of this problem, but for future reference, I have just written a blog about how to remove this, you can find it here:
http://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/savant/blog/how-to-recover-a-hijacked-web-browser

Thank you, I have not been able to remove it. I did a clean re install and it uploaded again anyway. I'm about ready to ditch Firefox. I'll give your link a try. Thank you for your help.

CCleaner has a registry cleaner included

I know and I have it and tried it. Did not work. Thanks for your reply though. I appreciate your time!

Meredith, it's not just Firefox, but I have seen it everywhere. About the only way to get rid of it is to kill it from the roots. You have to delete all of your cache and temporary files. Then track down the references to safe homepage from the computer registry and delete every reference, Then you have to find the program or file that was installed with the trojan inside and delete it. Long and tedious, especially if you have never done this before...
You could get McAfee Stinger and run a scan to get rid of it, or you could restore the system to a time before it became infected.
If you take it to a repair shop, make sure that they actually know how to get rid of the virus, because if they don't, they will wipe your data and you will lose all your work. This is a painful little virus, and is quite tricky to remove. The easiest option is a clean install, but that is NOT the best option, it is just a shortcut for people who don't have patience, or experience, to do the job properly.
Good luck with it Meredith, hunt for a removal tool from Symantec and McAfee. They are your best options.
л

Good grief, that sounds like another all day long job. Thanks for your help, I'll give it a try.
Are you a horseman? So , am I. I was a trainer for many years until I got injured.

Actually spent many of my younger years in the saddle as a Stockman in Australia. (Working Cowboy) Much of this work was mustering and processing cattle and livestock, (branding and marking calves, drafting stores and breeding stock etc) but I also spent a lot of time breaking in stock horses and training the fastest stock horses for the local racing meetings... Some of the best years of my life, then came marriage, children, mortgage, responsibilities, schools, church and all the other stuff of life to steal away the passion I have for the Outback. Finally sold my last horse (Benji - in the profile photo) when my teenage girls lost interest and stopped caring for him. All I have now is an old bridle, a stock-whip, boots and spurs and arthritic hips and shoulders to remind me of the days and weeks I spent under the hot Australian sun, on the back of the Great Australian Stockhorse.
(And somewhere between then and now I learned how to fix computers)

What a fantastic adventure you had. It is my strongest wish that I can get healed and start all over again with my horses. PS: I have Australian Cattle Dogs too. Wouldn't be without one.

Maybe give this a try http://www.pcthreat.com/parasitebyid-36322en.html

Thank you Kathy, I hope your info does the trick! Appreciate it.

Thought i would ask before I link my account to Pay Pal. Does anybody have any bad results by doing so? Any problems or just good news all the way?

Thank you in advance!<

I've used them since the first day they came online without problems.

That makes me feel better about it, thank you.

I've been using them for over 13 years no problems ever- I have my bank account linked as well as a credit card so I can use that as an alternative mehtod of payments.

Thanks Leo, I wasn't aware that you could link a credit card. Appreciate it.

They were breached about 5 months ago :(
I use them every day but will not link them to my bank accounts.

Oops, I might have just changed my mind then. Maybe you should blog about that. All the replies I have received have been nothing but positive. A lot of people here either haven't heard that or are not worried.
Thanks Shawn.

I think I did, let me go look

Great, thank you!

Sorry to jump in but it should be mentioned that the breach was for PayPal’s two-step security mechanism for mobile users and the flaw only affected PayPal users who've signed up for two-factor authentication

if you needed to enter a code sent via your mobile phone to access your account, then yes, it affected you - other wise you were not.

PayPal does not depend on two-factor authentication to keep accounts secure. And this flaw has been fixed.

In all of it's time in service PayPal has never suffered a major data breach.

I was there then but had no problems. The beach had something to do withebay as they are affiliated. They got right on it and let everyone know. It is as safe as your bank account, maybe safer. Just my opinion.

Thanks, I'll take that into consideration.

And that is a pretty good track record. Like I said I use them daily. Thanks for clearing this issue up a bit Leo.

No worries Shawn

Now, I am totally confused. You couldn't get any more diametrically opposed answers..

LOL< ya think?

I just had to ask didn't I? LoL

Well, you know this community. If you ask, you will get feed back. (grin) Hope that you have a great day.

I mean the 2 different answers I received.

I have used paypal since the early 1990's. Never had a problem with them. I've had it installed on several websites, and even used PayPal Here on my phone and tablet. Still never had any payment or funds transfer problem.

One time I did forget my password and user login. Silly me I also forgot my secret question answer. I also didn't write down my security PIN. I found everything later though. Here's the thing, PayPal operators and support techs cannot see any of your financial data numbers like credit card, bank routing, or bank accounts. All they can see is who you use and whether it is marked as savings, checking, credit, or debit. Don't lose your sign in information is what I'm saying.

They are also quick to get your money back if someone doesn't deliver as promised.

That's my spiel on paypal.

That is great information and I will feel safer now. Many thanks!

Not a problem. I have tried other payment acceptance systems. But haven't found one as easy to use, as secure, and as inexpensive as paypal.
Another plus is that almost everyone on the web has paypal. But don't need it to make purchases from your site.

I've used them for quite a while and I've been pleased. Just be careful of email scams that aren't really PayPal.

Good advice and thank you for taking the time, appreciate it!

I've never had any problems. I do keep a couple of credit cards on file just in case I don't want to use bank account for some program for various reasons. I've had my account for a good many years.

How does adding your credit card work for PayPal? Probably a dumb question, but I want to be sure.

Not dumb at all. I simply have a couple of cards listed just as the bank account is listed. There are settings for the default payment. Also, in the pre-approved payments you can set which account you want the payment to be made from. That is for individual things like WA or some other pre-approved subscription. The default setting takes care of the rest.

I just linked mine not too long ago, but I trust my bank to catch things as they usually do...no worries here. ;))

Okay, that makes sense. Appreciate it!

I have had my account linked with Paypal for about 6 odd years and not one problem. Just beware of opening any emails claiming to be Paypal I just did a blog on that. Just go to my profile if you want. But the main part don't open any email that claim to be them just go direct.
As I stated above never a problem.
Wishing you well.
Andre

That is the absolute truth. I have one email account where I get a lot of spam. I am constantly getting emails there that are supposedly from paypal. But....that email is not linked to paypal and never will be.
Don't ever click any link that appears to be from them. Go to the site itself, log in and if there is anything you need to know it will be there.

Great Advice and very timely too! Many thanks.

You are always welcome Take care enjoy life
Andre

You too.

:)

I've had mine linked for almost 3 months now and have had more issues from my bank than paypal. (not security with my money-other things)
Paypal's customer service is wonderful.

Thank you, that makes me feel a lot better. It's just that the online "criminals". are getting better and better at doing what they do.

VERRY,

Thank You! Guess I will give it a try. Appreciate you taking the time.
