I am a disciplined, motivated, self-starter who enjoys mentoring others. I have embarked on a new career path after 18 years operating and owning a business in the service industry on the East Coast of Australia.

I have been happily married for 33 years to an amazing woman who is a qualified counsellor but is not practicing at present. We have developed a great understanding of communication styles, learning styles and how to resolve conflict.

April 2016, the start of my second year at Wealthy Affiliate, ends my time living in Asia. We spent the past 14 months in Thailand adjusting to the cultural divide between West and East. It has been a great learning experience. My wife's parents need greater support and so from the beginning of May 2016, we returned to Australia. Living with them affords us the opportunity to do more to help them with their advancing age and failing health.

June 2016 to August 2016 - I started a part-time job as a barista. It was in a funky little cafe in Brisbane, owned by an outgoing Chilean man who has a driving passion for amazing coffee and great food. The lively sounds of South American music pumps through the place and friends come to eat, drink and just hang out. It has been a dream of mine for years to work in this industry and the opportunity was worth trying out. It was a job for the love not the money, so I wasn't going to stay there indefinitely.

August 2016 saw me return to the business that I love - window washing. It has served us well financially for many years and now I am back helping people have a better outlook. First thing I did was to build a website for my re-launched business. How cool it was to use the training here at Wealthy Affiliate Network to that end.

Apart from coffee being a passion, playing guitar is a relaxing pastime and reading educates my soul. Watching sport from around the world is another enjoyable pastime. Wealthy Affiliate has also built in me a greater interest in the online marketing world and I hope one day soon I will begin studying HTML coding and become proficient at it. Life takes some interesting turns if we don't baulk at the fork in the road.

Chat soon.

Hi Kristy,
Lovely to meet a Brissy girl here at WA. I am following you back. I have just tweaked my bio after your comment since my wife has shut down her counseling website at present. She has decided not to practice for the foreseeable future.
I hope your friends find help and support. Catch up soon.

Hi Duncan
Thanks for following. I am also from the east coast and we also lived in Thailand for a year, my husband was working at a University. We've been back many times and are in Koh Chang as I type. We ended up getting a retirement visa as we are in and out of the country while we spend 18 months travelling around SE Asia. We're up to 11 months of travelling. Well then catch the trans Siberian railway to Europe.
Happy New Year

Hi Don,
I have had a few referrals that haven't converted into Premium members yet. Some sales through Amazon but not much else. I am not stressing about it, since I view this as my uni degree that will take three years while I get hosting for my three websites.

I have hopes for online income but it will take time, just like any type of business. Thanks for the follow, buddy.

Cheers,
Duncan

Thank Duncan - I guess we all have to be patient. Your right in making this a long term project.

Than for your input and advice. I will be keeping the folks who follow me informed about my progress -for no other reason than to encourage them with feedback on 'my score'.

Hi Duncan, It's nice meeting yet another fellow Aussie in WA.

Thanks for the follow; You have an interesting profile which i suspect mirrors your life.

After perusing your flabby writing training I'm convinced i need a writing mentor.

I look forward to seeing what other "nuggets" you have in amongst your 159 posts and trainings.

I am born and bred in Perth Western Australia,

I have struggled with my writing, not knowing what it was that bothered me. I just knew it was not right.

Now I know ... Thanks again.

Don't worry. If you had read my stuff in the past, you would have called me The Flabby King! It just takes time, practice and lots of editing.

Loved Perth when I visited there 20 years ago. We almost moved there.

Hi. Thanks for the follow! Interesting profile. Sounds like you've had quite a few interesting experiences. I would love the opportunity to go abroad as you have. My wife is from the Philippines and while I did spend a month there, I would love to go away for a longer period.

I wish you great success with whatever your path guides you to in the future.

Hey Duncan!

I was just going through your profile. My wife and I are care givers to my wife's mother who is affected with Parkinsons & a spot of dementia. We've realized that you need a whole set of skills while dealing with older people who need assistance. We are considering starting an online support group for those who are care givers for elders.

I hope we can be in touch through WA.

Hi there,
Your story is interesting and your background varied, a bit like my own. I have also been around a bit and I just love Australia, a great place to be but unfortunately I have not been there since year 2000.
I wish you lots of success and I am following you back.

Hello I read your profile. You and you wife seem like remarkable people. I wish your wifes parents the best.It is wonderful you are helping disable people. My son was born disable. People treat disable people so cruel. My son was born physcially disable. Alot of hardwork I fought for his rights. When it came to education he was mainstream . And went on to graduate from a wonderful private university. He was 21 years old when he completed his four year degree at Nova University. He wanted to be a doctor to help mentally challenge people. He was kill by drunk driver. A great lost to our world. Its wonderful you and your wife are a blessing to our world. God Bless you both DPezzimenti1

Hi Duncan,

It's lovely to meet you. I'm guessing you have a Scottish ancestry with a name like yours. My granddad and nephew are both Duncans, and I would have been too, had I been born a boy!

I love that you are doing so much in your community, as well as working online. The coffee shop you're working in sounds great.

Looking forward to interacting more.

All the best,

Jules

Thank you, Jules. Duncan is a name that makes you stand out a bit although as a child and teen it caused me some grief due to other kids using it derogatorily.

But I love it now. Had real character. The only other Jules I have heard of is Jamie Oliver's wife.

Catch up soon.

I'll tell him about this link, thank you. He was in school but had to drop out before he could finish due to a divorce. So he really wants to go back to school and finish what he started. I've told him just because he can't afford to go back to school yet, doesn't mean he can't learn what he wants to learn while he's working.
