Shame on you if you clicked with any thoughts of "naughtiness"! haha...

What is your favorite "go to" spot for posting a blog once it's published? (Ex: Reddit) I'm compi

Usually facebook and twitter

Hey Tracy,

Just curious, how exactly do you go about sharing on reddit?

I've never tried it. Is there a specific section to share in?

Thanks

You can post links on reddit. Search by subreddits, for example I post in "new parents" because I have a baby website. But make sure you leave comments on other peoples posts as well, redditt gets mad and will kick you out if all you do is post links to your site and don't participate in other discussions.

Oh ok, I see. Thanks for the tips!

I found a terrific video on reddit posting that includes a few tricks. Not at home now but when I get there, I'll post it.

Oh I would love to see that too! Thanks Tracy!

I love it. I have not finished my blog yet, but wanted to see what everyone is talking about to get ideas. I am an airline pilot and this reminds me of the days of sitting around and listening, learning, and asking questions of the veteran pilots. The best education in the world.

Agreed. Learning is my favorite part! (well, actually it's second to making money)

Usual suspects, Twitter, FB, and looking to use Vimeo and the Tube more now...repurposing stuff. Andy
BTW I like your interactive posts, and list collecting behaviours- useful and cool. Andy

As always, you sum it up and all that's left for me to say is "Love You".

back at you- this is all so much fun, for sure.

Facebook fan page!

Twitter. I've always had the best success of being read with tweeting. In fact, I generally like Twitter the best of all social sites because my followers on Twitter are almost 90% (aprox) in a related industry, and we share relevant content amongst each other. When someone "favorites" my tweet, I feel more pride in my contribution than when someone "likes" me on Facebook.

Me, too! I don't even do Facebook anymore.

My email subscriber, facebook (fan page, i stick the post on my grp and profile), g+, pinterest, linkedln, that's 5 but i don't use the other social network :)

LinkedIn is my second favorite

I have just started blogging. The only place where I have shared is here. It would be nice to have a "top 10 list" Have a wonderful weekend. :)

I'll make sure you get the final copy

Twitter - but what a very cool idea you have and I can't wait to see your results! God Bless!

Thanks and I will make sure to post the final list! By the way, my favorite is Reddit. If you haven't checked it out, you should try it.

I love sharing my posts via twitter, and all social media.

Twitter is terrific :)

I created a new site but don't have any comments. Here is one of my first posts. Will y'all please leave a comment? Thanks tons for the interaction, I really appreciate it!</

I've looked at your site and clicked on a few pages and read some. Clicked on your affiliate link for learning to play the piano. I actually got a keyboard as a Christmas present and would be willing to buy a program for learning. But the one on your site isn't the right one for me.
Will leave you a comment when I've had another look and am less tired.

You will love playing the keyboard, it is tons of fun!

Yes, I used to play the piano when I was a child, then helped my children when they were learning and am now trying to keep up with my granddaughter. My grandson has already overtaken me. I mainly got the keyboard as a piano substitute - mentioned this and got one from a friend whose son I teach a lot without being paid.

Hello Tracey.

Just dropped into your post. Really appreciate the time and 'value added' content you have created here.

One suggestion. I think having a couple of artsy pics of the trumpet interspersed into the narrative would be lovely and raise interest to stay on your page. Even someone soulfully playing his trumpet would be cool!

I left a comment there. Hope to see more of your creations going forward.

Linda

Thank you so much- wonderful suggestion... adding them right now.

Hey Tracy,
The site looks great. As a musician I can really relate to the site. I've left you a comment. Also, I've also click on several of the other pages which always helps for rankings a bit as they are internal links.
Best Regards,
Jim

Jim- you rock! Thank you so much for going the extra mile with clicks... very much appreciated!

Done! :)

Many thanks!

Very nice site. Keep up the good work and best wishes! Left you a comment there :) -Sherry

Thank you so so so much!

done it just now and glad to be of service, Andy

Thanks tons, Andy! You always step up and I appreciate it tons!

I was expecting you not to approve it LOL x

Hi Tracy! Would love to give you a comment! You were so kind to visit my site and leave me one which I really appreciated! Have a great day my friend!

Thanks! I loved your site about tea and learned a lot! Thanks so much for the comment.

Looks good. You may want to add a picture within the 1st fold

I wondered about that. Will take care of it now. Great suggestion- thanks so much!

Just had a quick look at your site, you are not to put ads in the text area, you need to put them in the side bar, let me know when you have sorted it and I will leave you a comment, I only know this because I got told off by someone who knows.

Oh yikes- sorry that you were told off by someone at WA! Thank you for being "nice" and that other person could really take a lesson from you.

Really? I saw a lot of sites here put ads within text so it looks natural/like a suggestion. I guess we better look that up! Thanks for the info.

just looked at a few other sites from owners who have had extreme success. They all have product links within the text editor. That said, they do not have actual "ads" in the text editor. Things such as google adsense links are in sidebars. But products are sprinkled throughout most posts and pages. Just my observation... maybe there was some misunderstanding.

Thanks Tracy! Good that's what I believed too. You are right, I think there is confusion between product links and ads. So your site is ok! :)

I was just told a bit bluntly and I'm probably over sensitive lol

It's probably me getting mixed up as usual,it looks nice anyway.

If your "usual" is getting mixed up on this WA stuff, then join the rest of us. I get things messed up each day. No worries, its how we learn. (At least that's what I tell myself to feel more confident...LOL)

Will do! :) I'll write 1-2 by the end of the day. Your site looks great! Clean, professional and your links to Amazon are very subtle and well introduced within the page.

Thank you so much, you made my day! I've been working hard on this site and now am ready to just start focusing on content... the hard part... LOL.

That's what we're for! :) Good luck with the content!

Done and done! I left one on your piano page as well, it's my favourite instrument. :)

Raising a Child with ADHD – 3 Easy Tips Every Parent Must Know

Cameron 2013

Raising a child with ADHD can be challenging but we are here to help you by providing tips, resources, and products to make your days a little more calm and restore happiness to your household. Let’s get started…
So, you think your child may have ADHD? You’ve been to the doctor and the diagnosis has been made? Wondering what it really means and how it will affect you and your child? The information on this site is provided to answer all of these questions and more. Feel free to look around and if you don’t find what you are looking for, please let me know. I will help you find the resources you need.

For now, grab a cup of coffee and enjoy… I think you will take comfort in knowing how easy it is to regain control of a happy, peaceful family. (Don’t forget to read the blogs listed on the right side, and the archived ones too! They have amazing tips and resources to help you make it through the day.)

Signs of ADHD, not from a book but from what I have personally experienced with my 5 year old:

Uncontrollable spurts of energy
It's chocolate!
It’s chocolate!

Doesn’t “hear” you at times even though you are right there
Never finishes a task
Needs constant redirecting
Is more aggressive than other kids his/her own age
Difficulty paying attention
Very impulsive
Messy and Accident prone
Acts like the energizer bunny for hours at a time
Let me say again, I am NOT a doctor. If you haven’t discussed your child’s behavior with a doctor and you are reading this site, that is a sign that you should probably make the appointment.

I’m going to be updating these tips monthly and hopefully as this site grows many of the tips will come from other parents as well. If you read “Our Story”, you know that we have been blessed with ADHD for over two years. Even though my son is 5 years old, we adopted him when he was age 2 and he was diagnosed with ADHD at age 3. Before I was able to effectively manage our days, I tried A LOT of tips and products.

Here are a few of my favorite and most helpful tips: (these are things that worked for us, they may be trial and error for your family)

Cut out 90% of dairy products. A friend of mine shared that she did this for her teenage daughter that she suspected ADD and it really helped. I did it and wow, what a difference.

Give an herbal sleep aid now and then. ADHD kids have trouble sleeping. Their minds just can’t turn off and when they wake up, even in the middle of the night, they are ready to go. My doctor suggested I give my son 2.5mg of Melatonin once in a while. It is an all natural sleep aid for children. Oh what a full nights sleep will do for you and your child.

Get earplugs! Not for you (although you may need them for other reasons) but for your child. ADHD children’s hearing is extremely sensitive. They not only hear but try to process everything they hear. For example, when we would go to dinner my son would show extreme anxiety and begin being disruptive. I recently found out that it is because he could hear two or three different conversations around us and it was just too much to process at once so he started going a little crazy. Think about how you feel when just two people are trying to talk to you at the same time. Now imagine a crowded restaurant. That would be torture for anyone and our precious ADHD kids deal with it everyday. Let him/her wear earplugs….. it will change their world and allow them to relax.

Unpercolated Coffee- CLICK HERE to read my article about the effects of unpercolated coffee for an ADHD child.

Amazon has some amazing resource books and fidget toys to help your child manage the day. Click on the box below to be taken directly to their site.

Good looking site, lots of great information. You do have your hands full and I commend you. My sisters oldest son has to be watched day and night. It’s a 24 hour job but you got to love them. Wish you the best with your business and your son.

YOU ARE AWESOME!!! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! If the site hadn't of come back up, this is all I would have had unless Kyle and Carson had a back up file somewhere. Lesson learned- backup files are our friend! Thank you so much, you are such a great "internet" friend!

Has anyone seen this before?

Yes, John has

Hey Tracy. I just tried to get to your site...the message is that the server is down. But just now your site is UP! Good looking site!

Thanks tons!

Your site works for me.

Under the ooops there was a note saying access cached copy. I clicked on the page and I got a copy of your webpage dated yesterday. It gave me this message which I hope will help: This is Google's cache of http://adhdandkids.com/. It is a snapshot of the page as it appeared on Feb 19, 2014 23:51:36 GMT. The current page could have changed in the meantime. Learn more
Tip: To quickly find your search term on this page, press Ctrl+F or ⌘-F (Mac) and use the find bar.

I can not sign into mind either it is just gone.
freaking out because I just did an update, however it will let me sign into the others that I have.

I've gotten a lot of PMs saying the same thing. It's got to be a WA hosting issue. At least I hope it is because I trust the Kyle and Carson will be on top of it. These are the moments we've been training for, right? Breathe.... (so much easier said than done!)

Tracy I know, I put in a support ticket so we will see. I am breathing rapidly hahaha

Yours is up too! I said more on your page.

Thanks I read it.

Y'all are so sweet to be concerned about it, too. I love the WA community. You guys are the only ones who understand! My husband's response was, "Well then I guess you'll have to turn off the computer and come to bed." Ugh...

I would PM Kyle or Carson as the message says: "[Fiddler] ReadResponse() failed: The server did not return a response for this request.Server returned 0 bytes."
Did you have a backup by chance? Terri

That's terrible! I hope it's just some kind of fluke and that it will be up soon again. I clicked your link and it's just loading and loading. - Says it can't find it. Does this have to do with the Google Analytics thing? I haven't done that, so I wouldn't know, but I'm thinking if there was something you accidentally checked?

The site is up and running fine right now.

Sometimes a server will update or get some maintenance and the sites will not load.

It is usually back up within a few minutes. :)

I think WA was down before as I could not get in through my email. Waited a couple of hrs and it is working now. Hope that is all it was for you.

I wish it were that simple. But, I checked Yahoo, Bing, and Google and none of the sites pull it up. They all say "Oops, can't find" or something to that effect. I can get into my other sites through WA just fine. Yikes- I did a lot of social marketing today, too!

Might try a support ticket from WA. Sorry good luck with it.

Yes, John has

mackiejw Happened to me 10 days or so ago. Nothing to worry about. You will be back up shortly
John

I'm confused and there are mixed posts on WA stating opposite opinions.

Do you fill in the SEO All In One fields such as title, description, keywords? Or is that the purp

Leave your keywords out of the SEO and you'll be fine. Put them in the title and lead sentence of the post....

I tried both ways and concluded it's best to leave it all blank and let AIO do what it was designed for.

Should I be adding "tags" to my posts?

tags are less for seo purposes and more for organizational purposes when it comes to people reading through your site. So don't focus on filling tags with keywords but more with related words/phrases that will allow people to click one and find related posts. I would try to keep it to like 2-3 tags per post =)

Okay, I've received both private messages as well as public so I'll sum up what everyone is saying so that you can correct me if I'm wrong.

Once the site is built, go into the SEO All In One and update the Home Title and Description because that is what will show when the page does show up in Google. This is only for the Home page.

For all other pages, posts, and blogs.... leave all fields blank in the SEO area because they will automatically be populated behind the scenes as Google ranks the page.

Shew- I feel like a lightbulb just turned on. Thank you to everyone for the clarification! Y'all are awesome and I love you!

Yes, you got it.

Just to be clear, when you leave it blank, the plugin is still working for you, in that it generates the first 100+ characters as your description. Some people might not like this for some types of posts, where those first dozen of words do not really help in describing what the page is about. But then again, for me I don't really care, because Google is usually smart about this.

Another thing to note is that Google also chooses different snippets based on the search term. Again, Google is smart and will choose the most relevant ones and they are usually accurate.

Great question! Great answers! Now I don't have to ask!

Wow so glad you asked this!! I filled mine in with no results. I'll take it all out and let the plugin work. Thanks!!

If you mean the post/page side, I personally leave that blank. What the description does is that if you fill that in, you give Google a chance to pick that instead of what the SEO plugin generally generates for you (which is the first 140 or so characters of the beginning of your extract). If you don't like this general description the plugin gives you, you can make your own here. Do note that Google has no obligation to pick one that you make.

As for keywords, I think most would agree this field is pretty useless, you can leave that blank. For title, I THINK that's what would show up in the SERP titles.

To give you a rough idea on how it works, you can right click on the background of a post you have right now and click page source (if you use firefox). You can see the plugin generating the meta description for you in action.

Hope that helps.

Hi Tracy.

Leave them blank - other than for your home page section.

Google/other search engines decide what they want to index you under. This is a change to the way it was before - when people would stuff keywords into their meta tags and all through their posts - just to get high rankings. Google realised this - and said "no more - we'll decide - not you".

So leave them blank!

All the best, Mark

Thanks Mark, I think the less we need to worry about SEO and so forth, the more time we can spend on writing content.

Lydia.

You fill in if you want to influence what is presented. SEO All in One does not do it for you very well. Make the description look better by adding your own words.

I have not filled anything in those fields and I am doing just fine as far as I can tell.

Good question I will watch for some of the talented members comments.
