About Nomda Ploom
Joined January 2014
I am Andy from south east England UK.
It is just dawning on me that my username is unnecessarily smart *rse as we brits say.....Nomda Ploom is a phonetic rendition of nom de plume, or pen name. if you will. Crikey, what a plank am I...

I should mention that my life maxim is "one person's fish is another person's poisson" oh the benefits of being in the Eurozone....ya gotta love it. My Google Plus profile is over at https://plus.google.com/u/0/+AndrewDowningonline and goodness only knows I need to ramp this up!

My situation is perhaps unusual in that I have had to take an enforced change of direction as I am presently supporting my parents in their twilight years. Dad has very advanced Vascular Dementia, and mum is getting very frail. Curve ball indeed...

Offering a comparatively recently acquired skill set out to the ether to help others and grease the wheels: video creation and editing, together with optimisation, HTML websites creation, WordPress sites ditto, content creation- articles, videos, pods, logos, graphics, brochures, e-books, etc. Pretty familiar with most of the value adding WordPress plugins, and how to configure and use them..I build WordPress sites using the Headway Themes drag and drop process, so I can pretty much deliver up what people want, look and feel wise....

Recently into design core elements and writing for the net, can reference some useful texts for others- IT IS JUST A PITY THAT I HAVEN'T FOLLOWED PROTOCOLS HERE :-)

AM I SELLING MYSELF YET? Having to suspend my adherence to the Groucho Marx maxim "I wouldn't want to belong to any club that would have me as a member" tendancies

I came to this solution via a circuitous route (British English spoken here), and have a range of skills and capabilities, but need to put them into a bigger picture. I spent a previous working life in child protection services, and most of my latter time there in court settings, constructing cases, giving evidence and honing my analytical skills en route.
I have set up a number of WordPress based sites, mainly for local and smaller businesses. I have written a large number of articles, to help their SEO cause, and regard myself primarily as a content creator, curator, and presenter.
I studied languages at school and this is one area of interest that has stayed with me.
Live south east coast in England UK, if you talk to me, I will talk back.

A bit more about me:
Runner, swimmer, bicyclist, and sometimes put the three together
Linguist (French and German) can stretch to American English if pressed
Culture junkie
Cook a lot to counteract exercise munchies
Red wine, Prosecco not champagne
Scotch, and nothing in it (I would ask the air to get the heck out, if I could)
Jack of all trades, need to master this one, I am presently drowning, not waving folks
Politeness freak but value direct opinions, and can be rude when called for

See you on the inside, all the best for 2014, Andy
Nomda Ploom's Goals 3
Money Goals
I am not new to the theory of all of this, and have theory pretty much down. However, what I am looking forward to is going PRACTICAL and getting things done. Going public on my goals is one way of hanging it out there. I look forward to joining others on our journeys, and to contributing to others as well

QUESTION #1: How much money would you be happy earning?
I would be happy to be earning £20k per annum equivalent by the end of July 2014.

QUESTION #2: How much would you be ecstatic earning?
I would be ecstatic to be earning £100k equivalent per annum by the end of December 2014.

QUESTION #3: And how much TIME are you willing to invest to achieve these goals?
I am prepared to dedicate a minimum of 30 hours per week, and a maximum of 60

I agree with you going public with your goals. I'm usually quite reserved and tend to keep to myself but one thing that internet marketing has helped me with is to just be transparent, and not to worry about what anyone thinks. I live in my head a lot so practical steps for me too and getting things done is a massive step in itself.

These sound like reasonable goals but it will most likely take a while before you actually start earning. Patience and hard work are needed for the first couple of months. Good luck!

Hi Thanks for the follow. There's a BIG difference between English/English and American/English.If you don't know the difference it can get you into a heap of trouble. Been there got the "T" shirt.
I was in Cambrige near Boston USA. Went into a Bar and ordered a beer. Then asked "where do I find fags" Deathly hush! The Bartender asked in a soft voice "What did you say" I reached into my pocket and took out my empty packet of cigs and said " I'm out of fags where do I find any"
In English/English cigarettes were called fags.
In American/English........
I no longer smoke!!
I think I'll write a blog on this I've a boat load of examples
Then there's the confusion over dates ( the calender not the ones you eat)
Cheers, Mike

Andy, aka nomda, following you closely as I find your wit much to my liking. It's taking me waaaay longer to absorb and create here which is a source of much frustration. But, push on, I say....it will all come together. Looking forward to seeing your work here. Wishing you the best of everything with your parents....a big job, indeed.

you are very kind, thank you. Just keep it steady and ask- the learning curve is nothing to be scared of, unless we expect to be able to run when we have to climb. Andy
