I have spent the majority of my professional career in the Video Game Industry as a Quality Assurance and a Customer Service/Tech Support Manager. I have also been a Video Game Producer/Designer with several published games to my credit. I also have a part-time eBay business here in New Jersey only 15 minutes from New York City.

Though I will always continue with jobs within my experience I am also looking for a new career path because I am a person who likes to learn new things and new experiences. Making money online (as I've learned via eBay) is quite fun and rewarding if you work hard at it. So I am here to learn more about how to build a website by myself without having someone else doing it for me. The way I see it is, if you cannot build and create a website yourself, why bother having one? Where's the fun in that scenario?

Some of you who follow me here may have noticed that this is my updated Profile Description. I felt it was time now that I have moved up in the rankings, have several published blog posts, 3...well actuall 2 1/2 website and several Street Atricles that I should update my profile. For those of you just viewing this for the first time, hello! I enjoy helping many of the members here at WA, if I can. If I can't I can direct you to where you can get an answer.

For those considering upgrading to Premium, DO IT!!! You will not find a better education in website creation, keyword research, SEO (Search Engine Optimization), writing content, niche ideas, and so much more training and resources anywhere else online or offline for the same cost. Knowledge is power and there is a lot of knowledgable power that can be learned here if you just give yourself the opportunity to learn it and put it into practice. I am GLAD I did several months ago! Enjoy your time here! - Robert

Wow, very informative and useful info. Thank you for the free lessons. There is so much to learn and see here. Its making it very exciting and easy to refer WA as a great place to learn and make money. I won't have a problem doing the bootcamp but will definitely start with the Get Started lessons. It all makes sense after you have explained it. Very helpful community here. Thank you so much. KIM

Rob in Phase two lesson Three,,,in our bootcamp section where it asks... Write an article that targets a new selling keyword...

I'm looking for a sample article that leads to the reason to refer the reader to Wealthy Affiliate...yes I understand it can say to sell anything like a car, boots etc...I struggle with the structure....

I struggle with the development of the paragraph

I understand our end goal is to get them to sign up to WA

Thank you if you have a model reference

You explain to your website readers how WA can help them to take any interest that they have, find associated products of that interest, and then become affiliates of the companies that sell those products.

Provide them with the information on how to join these affiliate marketing programs, what the commission structure is and how payment cookies work. Also tell them how they can search for affiliate programs on Google.

Basically give them as much info that they need to find a niche, find affiliate programs for that niche, how the programs work, and suggest possible products they could promote. Then direct them to WA to learn how to put all of this together.

Hi Rob,

When I select a WA page and click on the Affiliate Button. I get the long tailed link. One of Kyle's tutorials shows him selecting the Affiliate Button and getting access to the short version of that link. Its no longer there??
How do you get access to the short affiliate link ?
Reply

The short link option was discontinued in a WA platform update a couple of years ago. You can always take the long affiliate link and go to the Google link shortener and shorten it there. https://goo.gl

Hi Rob,
Been off the screen for a while... trying to get back again...
checked your very helpful comments on some peoples queries...
On one you mentioned that it would be preferable to start on the " Getting Started" as opposed to the "Affiliate Bootcamp" one...
Although I have not asked advice in this area before, it is the first time I hear it. Your reasoning sounds very professional to say the least.
I have done the entire Bootcamp course in 2016 and took the suggested ten day break... only returning now to start all over again!
Then I saw your comment... AND I want to start making a bit of money!... my first goal would be to recruit at least three premium members... to pay for mine...
I want to get started on the "Getting Started" training... and am thinking of using Amazon as the company to promote.
Would you be kind enough to part with some of your professional advice here... it would really be greatly appreciated.
Thanx in advance
John

Depending on the niche you select you may want to become an affiliate of another company other than Amazon. Amazon has lower commissions than most other affiliate programs and their purchasing cookie is only 24 hours.

This means if someone clicks on your Amazon affiliate link, makes a purchase, saves it to their shopping cart because they are not sure what else on Amazon they wish to buy while there, and then pays for everything after 24 hours, you will NOT get the commission.

Thanks for the reply and advice.
No I do not have a niche to target... that is why I was doing the Bootcamp...
Sure there are thousands of niches available and I am prepared to market anything...
Going to do the Getting started training to get more insight...
Maybe then I'll do WA anyway...

Thanx

Hi Rob,

This is a related question for the company I work with and wanted some of your professional technical input .
I still have a Day job, until WA picks up.

My day job is a small software company that develops a program for CPAs and Bookkeepers. We are trying to get our software product more Google traction in the rankings.

What tools can I use to find do combinations of Key word search's that we can use in our blogs and email blasts, we use an Auto responder called Infusionsoft.

Is Jaaxy one of them? Do you recommend others?
Reply
boomergp08 Premium
Though I do not use Jaaxy because the WA keyword tool is powerful enough for my website content creation, I would suggest that you use Jaaxy for your company as it has a lot more robust features that can be beneficial for you.

TopAcheiver mentioned you and Loes might have an answer to my question concerning images. I noticed in Photoshop, there is a lot of exif data, keywords and other information when I download images from a paid source. So my question is, what is good practice, is it ok to remove that exif data and keywords, etc. that they add?
Reply

Though I do not think it would be a problem removing it, I cannot say for sure because I only use images from totally free resources.

Hey Rob,

I know that attributing shouldn't be that complicated, but I'm confused a little.

Do I right click on an image, save it to my computer, upload it to my website media library and then edit and attribute like in your "How to apply attribution..." training, or will copying the HTML/BBCode in the text editor suffice for attribution?

And then the question arises, What about the Page URL and File URL links in the attribution portion of the website that you get the photo from? When I click on the "Use on the Web" link, it shows me "Page URL", "File URL", "Attribution" and then the HTML/BBcode.

Do I need to use all of those, some of those or none of those. I need some clarification so I don't violate copyrighting.

Also, I can't use a photo like this as Featured Image, unless it's in my media library.

Mahalo Nui Loa.
Reply
boomergp08 Premium
You are over complicating the whole issue. I would do it the way I described and then choose one of the links given for attribution. You do not need to use them all and frankly you have no way to do so.

Yes, your featured images are just like all of the other images you use on your website and they must be in your media library.

Why do you need the http to show for sharing your website? You can share it just like you did above without the http and still have it be a working link.

FYI, There is an image on your website that you cannot use because you do not have permission. It contains a company name watermark across the front which means it is NOT free to use.

I have attached the image of the photo below. You better replace it before you get into trouble from Shutterstock.

No free image will have a watermark across the front of it. The watermark is there to tell you that it is not free.

If you found this image on Pixabay it is important to know that all of the images along the top row and sometimes elsewhere, that say Sponsored Images, are not free to use.

You just gave me an idea for a new training blog for WA newbies regarding Pixabay and other image resource websites...Thanks. :-)

Hope you don't mind me dropping by to ask a couple of questions :)

First of all, THANK YOU for sharing the lesson on the keyword tool. That was awesome info. I now fully understand it and can continue the trainings with your knowledge in place too. I really appreciate it!

The questions I was going to ask... I have a couple.

You mentioned you've been in the industry for 4 years. What made you decide to take this route and how long did it actually take until you started earning anything significant on a regular basis?

Do you have any tips or advice for those who are just starting out (besides the obvious "go through the trainings")?

Hope you have a great night and thanks again :)

Hi Chris,

I was already making money online by doing drop shipping on eBay but I wanted to build my own ecommerce website and do drop shipping from that, so I could stop paying all of the eBay fees.

But once I learned how affiliate marketing worked and how many different niches I could promote, I decided to take on that challenge and put the ecommerce website on hold.

I made my first bit of money just within 6 months but it wasn't until about a year that I started making consistent income. So my advice to all newbies is to be patient and never quit.

Thank you for the reply. Very informative and great advice. I've read many posts that mention the same, to not give up. I realise this is a long term strategy, nothing can happen overnight and there's hard work and learning ahead to put everything together in a package. Got some decently sized Facebook groups and a few Facebook pages I have created over the years but couldn't figure out what to do with them, until I came here! Now I have a plan of action and can truly embrace sharing the information gained from my "job" into a scalable online business. I'm pretty excited to be honest :)

Thanks again :)

Hello MalachyDonne,
re postroll/blogroll

A Post roll relates to video ads. It is an online video commercial that appears at the begining, middle, or end of an online video.

A blog roll is a List of links on you blog.

You may find many approaches to you questionon Goople search.

WA is found on Google - Static Home page vs Blog roll.
You can also search Google for Post roll.

Just saw your question; hope this helps.

Can I ask a question about the pictures from Pinterest.com. I have looked for the permission & Rules & Policy of taking the pictures as My own for my posts, but did not find any rules in the search engines, and I do not want to break any rules in pinterest.com to loose their association. Where can I find these rules of coping these pictures for my posts and in my content. I have been using their many different pictures for my posts as a rules, because I have not found any disagreements listed on how to use these picture?
Reply
boomergp08 Premium
That is a tricky question but it is a general rule that pictures on social media should not be used on websites that you will earn money from.

Whenever money can be earned from a post containing an image that is not free to use, the original owner of the image could sue you for using their image without permission.

If you use the image in a blog that does not earn you money, you could possibly get away with it without any problems. But on the other hand, I wouldn't take the risk.

I have a question for you:, if I may.
I wrote a post on my site; called it THE BEST DIET TO LOSE WEIGHT FAST.
On the Keyword T. the search for this title was showing 32,889 searches, a competition of 53 and an article power of 10.
Anyway, it didnt make 1st page!!!!
Why?
I thought that a title with those parameters would make the post jump in first or 2nd or 3rd page but NOTHING.
Can you please explained what happened?.
Thank you much

Reply
boomergp08 Premium
Having a keyword with a low competition does not guarantee you first, second or third page rankings right away. It could take weeks for you to achieve those rankings.

Ranking in Google is determined by your overall content, not based on a keyword. A low competition keyword will help you get better rankings but it is your content that is the determining factor.

Even if you were to rank based on a keyword with a competition of 53, you would not start appearing in the SERPs any higher than page 6. Then based on the quality of your content, you will go up from there.

Hi:
Im interested in drop shipping and have a question for you.
How do I sell a product on Ebay?
I have the product supplier and would like to sell his items on Ebay.
What do I have to do?
Do I need a website to start this business?
Thanks
Best
Reply
boomergp08 Premium
First you need to find out if the supplier offers drop shipping services. If they do you need to find out if the prices you will be paying are true wholesale and if the drop shipping service is free.

If they offer all of the above, they will provide you with product descriptions and images of the items. You take these and post them into eBay under whichever category you intend to sell under.

When your item sells on eBay you take the money your buyer sent you, pay the supplier the wholesale cost of the item and any other packing fees they may have, the supplier ships the product to the buyer, whose information you gave to the supplier, and you keep the difference in the money received as your profit.

There are no bots here. You told me that you received a reply from Site Support. If what you said was the case, then what was it that they said?

The problem you described to me has to do with SSL which is something many members do not know much about. I personally do not know much about it and do not even have SSL websites, don't intend to unless it is necessary.

If Site Support's answer cannot help you than why not try and set up a website that is not an https and is only an http? If the problem persists, then just try a different theme.

Hello Robert,

I am glad I joined WA. One of your ads caught my eye. I can't remember where it was now. At my age it gets harder every year to remember things. I am 70+ and have had heart surgery.

I've been poking around and working on Affiliate Bootcamp. I am a Premium Member for Life! My goal is to promote my WA link and not my own niche.

i can say that I certainly do appreciate the Key Word Tool training you sent me early on. I love that thing!

I will eventually work through all your 309 posts! Wow what a library! If you have a list of links for your training you have written, I would certainly appreciate it. If so, can you send it to reylonghurst8@gmail.com ? All this WordPress is a bit confusing to navigate sometimes!

These are two websites I have previously built from scratch for my almond business going back about 12 years. You can tell by looking at the source code that these are REALLY OLD web builders. Funny thing - I get sales every day from these two dinosaurs. Mostly repeat customers and customers who have found our products in grocery stores.
www.SproutedAlmonds.com 2004 - 2014
www.LonghurstFarms.com 2015 -2017

Here are a couple of questions that keep nagging at me. Hopefully you can help me get to the bottom of them.
1 - Does a L-O-N-G T-A-I-L name on a jpeg file help ranking in terms of content?
2 - I am concerned about linking directly to my WA Profile from my website (not the ones above), a new one I plan to build for WA. How does linking directly to my WA profile convert to a referral that eventually becomes Premium? It seems to me that the new visitor will just continue to use free stuff and not sign up. What am I missing here?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello Rey,

Below are my answers.

1. If the long tail word is a keyword it MAY help a little bit, but I wouldn't worry so much about it. You are mainly ranked by your entire content and not just keywords, especially those in the names of images.

2. There will not be a problem linking to you WA profile. I do it and so do most others. As soon as someone who is not a member of WA clicks on it, you will get referral credit if that person becomes a member.

You will only earn money $1 from that member if they complete their WA account profile with a description and photo. In order to earn monthly income from them, they will have to become a premium member.

Does that answer your questions?

Hi everyone, (addressed to any top helpers here)

Last night I've purchased a domain. It is the same domain I did at wordpress more than a year ago. https://healthnwellnessforever.wordpress.com/

My question is how can I make it my own or how can I transfer it? should I make a new one? I would probably want to have a new theme but how can I do that? I am lost. Please help.

Thanks in advance,
Arline

Is this your website?

http://healthnwellnessforever.com

If yes, then it looks like you have your own website started already. Now you just need to add your own unique content.

Hi Robert,

Yes it is. I will transfer the content of my other blog with the same domain name which I made at wordpress.com. So I think I'm gonna be really very busy these days.

Thanks a lot for your reply. Appreciate it.

If you promote WA you will have to come create another website that is in a a different niche than your other website. As a Premium member you can create up to 25 websites.

Hi Boomergp08 -- I just stumbled upon some of your tutorials on key words and content, and wondering if you have the time or are able to critique my site? It hasn't been up too long but ranked in Google and I am starting to put some affiliate links on it.
I am stuck on the keyword issue and glad to read your posts where you say that content is more important.

Your website looks visually nice. The only thing I did not like is seeing an affiliate link so close to the beginning of your content. Affiliate links should not appear within the first third of your content. Google does not like websites that do this often.

Other than that one problem, your website is coming along nicely. Just make sure to provide helpful content and use your affiliate links sparingly. Your website should have a minor amount of affiliate links and lots of helpful content.

Trying to come up with my niche. I really enjoy helping people and sharing what knowledge I have. I have a pretty broad base to work from having degrees in business management, marine biology, electrical engineering, Astronomy, and astrophysics. I was also an aerospace engineer for 12 years. I am trying to figure out how I could use this as a niche to help people in general. Or is that way to broad? Do i need to pick something specific instead? Any inputs would greatly appreciated.

I'd like to know how to become a video game tester and possible producer (I have no tech related experience) however it's been my dream since I was a child, I'd run through games in a day on its hardest difficulty figuring out all types of challenges. A full time gamer completionist, and I could talk about games for hours on end with intense passion. I believe my place is in the gaming community I've just the faintest clue how to get started on that process.
Reply
boomergp08 Premium
You would first have to live near a video game company. Despite what many people online are promoting, real video game companies do not hire testers that work from home.

If you live near a video game company and you can get a hold of one of their games, test the heck out of it and try to find any bugs. Also try to come up with quality suggestions on how the game would perform better on whatever system you are playing it on.

If you can find any problems, video tape it and write up a detailed bug report, with the steps you did to get the bug to happen. One important part of being a video game tester is being able to write up a detailed bug report.

Once you have this bug report and a video of the game bug, if possible, send it along with a resume and cover letter to the video game company. For best results go to the company and apply in person.

Video game testing has hardly anything to do with being able to play a game to completion. Testing a game requires you to test different parts of a game over and over for hours, trying really stupid things to break it.

This is one of the main reasons why video game companies hire in-house testers, because they are not looking for people who can play a game to completion but rather test certain sections of a game before being able to complete it.

Hi Boomergp08's ,
I just read the other messages and I too am sorry you lost someone close... I have a bachelor neighbour Willie Clancy who's 80+ and it's funny as I live in a remote areas in the west of Ireland. (No broadband, I have to thether my phone now to work all gagets ..:)husband me and kids) in the house, no problem I'm soo techno now with WA.!The funny thing is my neighbour Willie starts his day with visiting me for a kiss on the cheek. (I must have nice cheeks ) but on numerous occasions his tractor has broken down at my door from using old diesel. I know to get a bicycle pump(from my career) to blow the dirt away out of the fuel tube (while I'm still in my dressing gown!! )and concentrating on all the WA lessons!! But you know what ..I will miss him and my crazy morning kiss as I know he hasn't much time left with me .
It's true on every factor here and in our crazy lives ..time spent is time gained.
Thank you again for your lesson to us all on the drop down menu , it gives me more time to spend with Willie one on one (and not be thinking of what I could do to figure it out).

What a beautiful experience and relationship you share with Willie.

I believe we rob ourselves of special blessings when we don't open the door the first time someone knocks. Maybe it wasn't convenient for you with Willie but obviously he needed your companionship and you gave him room into your life.

As stated, "It's better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all" . . . .

Thank you for loving Willie.

Hi...Robert, just like to offer condolence in the lost of your family member to cancer. I'd just like to share that recently I too was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. This past year has been challenging to say the least, but I'm back at work and feeling fine most days. Praise God for your healing, and hope that 20 years from now I can have the same testimony. We both share the same vision and mission to try and make more people aware of the alternatives to the standard cancer treatments, as well as some other common ailments. So hopefully we can contribute to making the world a healthier place by educating the people, and ending the senseless slaughter of human life in the name of profit.

Hi Rob,

I watched your training and I appreciate the effort and work you put into it.

It's very, very helpful.

I found good keyword with monthly searches above 50, competition below 300 but only one keyword has an above 8 article power number.

what do you do here?

Since that post, I have found 20+ keywords in the same niche with about the same numbers as above.

I bought a domain for the niche.

Frankly, I'm surprised I found so many.
Reply
boomergp08 Premium
I will sometimes still use a keyword with an article power lower than an 8 if the competition QSR is low enough and if I really really want to use that keyword.

Thank you. I am happy that you like my training.

Can you Help - I have pointed my .com domain to WA but have not been able to transfer the siterubix.com (starter site) to my .com, so I've built a new site with the .com domain that I own. How do I now get rid of the siterubix version, in case there is any conflict when i go live - thanks in advance
Reply

First off your sites are live as soon as you build them. Secondly when you use the Move feature in your Site Manager all information from your siterubix site is transfered to your own domain. Should someone click on your siterubix site they should be redirected to your own domain.

Hi Robert. At your site below I see a couple minor things I thought I'd bring to your attention:

How to Make Money with Wealthy Affiliate Go Premium If you liked this training please either click the “Like” button above... (need to change "above" to "below".

And if you have already written up your “Welcome to Wealthy Affiliate” message for your referrals, then make sure to click the Blue Facebook Like button at the top of this screen...( I don't see a Facebook "Like" button at the top of this screen.

All else looks fine. One quick question, I have a stack, 40, of Mother Earth magazines dating back to the 2nd issue, either 1970 or 1971, all in good shape with expected minor wear.

What would be the best way to sell them on Ebay?
Your help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Randy B

Thanks.

The Facebook Like button used to be on all WA screens and was active when this was created. But WA removed this button because many WA members were using it to spam Facebook with WA affiliate links.

Sell your magazines on eBay as an entire lot unless you can find that others are being successfully sold individually. If this is the case then sell the issues that are selling by themselves and then sell all others as an entire lot.

It may not be working because you are not using a domain name that is your own. Whenever you use a sub domain name like siterubix, you do not own that domain. You need to buy a domain in order to own it and this could very well be the reason it doesn't work.

Another thing I have heard that fuels cancer is glutamate. I don't know if you have ever watched any of the documentaries from TTAC? (the truth about cancer) very interesting series, I haven't had the chance to watch them all yet but it's sure eye opening.
I think so many of us have lost hope on "curing" cancer, we also don't look at the foods we are putting or not putting in our bodies and how they affect us.
Nature is so beautiful and intelligent!
Thanks for the awesome information.
Reply
boomergp08 Premium
Yes, I have watched the TTAC series and I even showcase on my website many video interviews of the same doctors that were in that series. That series motivated me to create my cancer cure website because too many people are being misled.

We were all born with the cure for cancer but people do not take the time to learn that cancer cells are a NATURAL process that occurs in our bodies everyday, yet is controlled and killed by our immune system.

If people would take the time to understand what I just said, they would realize like I did, that cancer is not as scary as we are told it is and can easily be cured and prevented by having a strong immune system. This is repeatedly mentioned in TTAC series.

Reply
boomergp08 Premium
You do not need to have a website before choosing a niche. Lesson 3 is choosing a niche and then Lesson 4 is building a website.

A niche can be anything you know. Womens shoes, cosmetics, auto parts, digital slr cameras, lose weight by juicing, weight loss supplements, treadmills, yoga mats, puzzles for kids, arcade video games, toys for toddlers, clothing for children, discount family vacation packages, carryon luggage, Star Trek collectibles, Christian jewelry, homeschooling lessons, ways to ease stress, essential oils, oil diffusers, wedding supplies, counter top convection ovens, coffee grinders, and practically anything you can think of that many people enjoy doing and partaking in is a niche.

Do you drive a car? Cars are a niche. Do you have a smartphone? Smartphones are a niche. Have you ever purchased vacation travel packages? That is a niche too.

What do you like to do? Do you have any hobbies or any knowledge you can teach people? Those are niches too.

Where are my Referrals going?
Just as I started my bootcamp I decided to post some of “my WA links” on a page I had specifically created for this purpose on Facebook. I realized movement on my “my stats” soon after and was pretty chuffed and motivated. I have had 1 referral confirmed, and all that’s showing is 1 click on “Clicks Content”. So where is that referral? And what does “Clicks Content” stand for?

Clicks Content = how many clicks you received from people clicking on the WA affiliate link you shared. Seems like you got a referral from that one click. Consider yourself lucky if that referral decides to go premium.

Hello, Sir:
I have a special enquiry for you as you seem so versed on the keywords subject:
I want to find what all the possible existing keywords related to my search are. I mean ALL.

What is the best tool to do it: WA keywords, google keyword planner, or Jaaxy?.

And how do you do it?
Thank you much
Best
Reply
boomergp08 Premium
That could take a very long time because a keyword is not just a word or words that describe a niche but are also questions people would ask about a respective niche.

So to come up with all keywords you would have to find all direct and indirect niche specific keywords, then related keywords, then indirect related niche keywords, then questions people would ask about all of the keywords you have just researched, etc.

Personally I do not see the benefit of finding all keywords because knowing them all is not going to improve SEO as much as just writing helpful and engaging content. Keywords do play a role but are not the main focus for better SEO.
Reply
philaccardo Premium
Thank you.
I agree with you.
But the reason I asked is related to CPA work, and the keywords you provide in PPC campaign. I think that the more keywords you provide to the campaign, the higher the chances that your ad is clicked by searchers the net.
So, if you provide that campaign with ALL the keywords related to you keyword then everyone searching the net will see your had and you will have more chances.
So I would like to know precisely how to find all direct and indirect niche specific keywords, then related keywords, then indirect related niche keywords, then questions people would ask about all of the keywords you have just researched, etc.
I guess it would be a time consuming work if I tried to do it (as I tried) with the google keyword planner. Im wondering if theres a software which will allow me to do it fast.
What do you think?
Best/Phil
