I have spent the majority of my professional career in the Video Game Industry as a Quality Assurance and a Customer Service/Tech Support Manager. I have also been a Video Game Producer/Designer with several published games to my credit. I also have a part-time eBay business here in New Jersey only 15 minutes from New York City.

Though I will always continue with jobs within my experience I am also looking for a new career path because I am a person who likes to learn new things and new experiences. Making money online (as I've learned via eBay) is quite fun and rewarding if you work hard at it. So I am here to learn more about how to build a website by myself without having someone else doing it for me. The way I see it is, if you cannot build and create a website yourself, why bother having one? Where's the fun in that scenario?

Some of you who follow me here may have noticed that this is my updated Profile Description. I felt it was time now that I have moved up in the rankings, have several published blog posts, 3...well actuall 2 1/2 website and several Street Atricles that I should update my profile. For those of you just viewing this for the first time, hello! I enjoy helping many of the members here at WA, if I can. If I can't I can direct you to where you can get an answer.

For those considering upgrading to Premium, DO IT!!! You will not find a better education in website creation, keyword research, SEO (Search Engine Optimization), writing content, niche ideas, and so much more training and resources anywhere else online or offline for the same cost. Knowledge is power and there is a lot of knowledgable power that can be learned here if you just give yourself the opportunity to learn it and put it into practice. I am GLAD I did several months ago! Enjoy your time here! - Robert

Hey Boomer,

Do you know where I could use payment proofs of other high earning wa members to use in my wa review?

Do I have to contact each one for permission, or, how does this work?

Thanks - just revamping wa review and want to show the potential available to people.

I seriously doubt many WA members would release that info, but there might be some within the Success Posts. I suggest you look in the Success Posts area in the WA dashboard to find this info.

Hi. Boomer. Is it possible to make your own video games yourself and still ca sell? Compare that to publish your own website, which one is easier for you in your opinion? Which one is more fun to work to work on? Which one could substain more return in the long run? How much about a comparision of start up cost and the time you will get return?
Reply

Websites are much easier and rewarding than video games. Less start up and operational costs, also far less stress.

Thanks for the reply. Lots of kids nowadays have interest to design their own games. Since you have experience in game industry, I just curious about how you say about game industry in general. Is the game industry still expanding? You see iphone apps are full of games!!
Reply
boomergp08 Premium
The industry has stopped expanding for a while now, it has only grown in its diversification of game types. Some game companies focus on doing games for maybe one type of platform, like only smartphone apps.

The bigger and more successful company do games for not just smartphone apps but also PC download, online casual, Xbox, PlayStation, Wii, DSi,...

Because certain platforms require specialized software and hardware for development, it costs lots of money to create just one game. And depending on the type of game, it can take anywhere from 6 months to three years before a game is finished and ready for sale.
Reply
ewo Premium
Boomer. You really educated me. I didn't realize the time need to develop the game has to be at least half a year before sale. Compared to website publishing, there are members start to success after 3 months. It seems to me that sticking with WA wil get my return of investment sooner!

I have seem many games developed by individuals posted on the web but the time spend on finishing them is short. Many of those are adobe flash based, shared as a hobby, and provide free to play.

In my experience, people who can design simple game rules to start with and/or very proficient in graphics design with excellent user inteface seems to attract many players to try. For example, angry birds and cut the ropes are very successful in this manner.

Hey, hey!

Thanx for the follow back. So much to learn and so many members' posts to read... Whose idea was it that a day should only have 24 hours, out of which most of us only use 12 to 16.

For the first time in my 35+ years of being self-employed, I find myself NOT restricting myself to that handicap of time. I do it because I "really" want to have this all set up and generating at least a few Ks before I turn 100 (I'll be 66 this month) - What do you think?... Doable, if I keep putting in the time?

If you get a spare minute or two please check out my site and give me your most honest opinion (promise I won't shed a tear). PM me your site link and I will surely return the deed.

To Your Success,

I need your direct help now and I am ready. I have been with WA since 9/25/2017. Despite being hard and slow, I am still going since that dream is still on and fresh.

So far, I have put up my site, www.ebettercare.com, to its possible best that I could have built under the theme of StoreOne Pro. Now, please take a look, if time, mind, and energy allos, into it and see what and how I should do so to start effective affiliate and e-marketing.

Much appreciated,

Hi friend, I think you will be eager to help me. Am going through the starter lessons Kyle runs for newbies. My question is must i kinda work along with him to set up my website as we progress, or i should listen to him all through before I take the next steps? I ask this because I did it at another platform and eventually lost money, when it became clear that I could not go along that
program. Thanks.

Just follow along with Kyle and do not skip ahead. Your ability to make or lose money relies solely on you and how you apply the training you receive here at WA.

Hi Robert, I badly need help with my site. My rankings are not going anywhere. I thought about going to the community but I really need someone with good SEO knowledge to give me some input - before I give up! I have heard that I should have something to offer, which is just really my advice. Given I don't have my own products it is very difficult to value-add. Can you help? Sue
Reply
boomergp08 Premium
Hi Sue,
When you say something to offer, do you mean like an ebook or a tangible product? And who would you be offering this to and under what circumstances? I don't see how this would enhance SEO.
Reply
suzy2107 Premium
Sorry that was really two questions. Yes I don't have anything tangible to offer like an ebook or product, which is what readers like and enjoy. I do offer my advice and the opportunity to purchase good inexpensive products. The second thing is around SEO and what I need to do to get my site up through Google rankings. My site is about skin care products and good foods to eat for healthy skin. If I do a search of my site it comes up with "Skin Food for You - Glowing Skin from the Inside", which really isn't a true representation of what my site is really offering. I have created a site map and also Meta Descriptions and Titles, and thought I was heading in the right direction.

Hi
I am new to WA and the internet marketing world. I have heard that video games can be a lucrative niche but I am only a "player" not a designer but if I can turn my interest into a moneymaker, then why not.

I would be interested in any help you could give me in designing a website. I am on Course 2 lesson 3. I also love to cook and bake so I picked food as my first niche.
I am also training to be website copywriter for healthcare.
Specifically an SEO Copywriter for healthcare.

The video game niche can be quite lucrative and you do not need to be a designer to make good money. Game players rake it in too. You just need to find your niche.

Check out the link below of my most recent training tutorial. I provide ideas for many different niches, including the video games niche, and provide a good video games affiliate program.

Hi Robert, I hope you are well and excuse for bothering you with this. I have searched through your tutorials and can't find anything on links. I am in particular looking for help with my Jaaxy affiliate link.

I have done a post and referenced Jaaxy from which I would like to direct the reader to the Jaaxy sign up page. I have gone into my banners and copied the HTML code and pasted it in the "Text" editor of WordPress and had no luck. I then added a Jaaxy image and tried to use my affiliate ID as a link and that isn't working either.

If you are able to assist me with this I would be grateful.

Hi Rob, I'm hoping that you will be able to assist me. I think I may have done something that can't be reversed. When I created my website on Wordpress, at the bottom of the Home page I added a title and description. Google has ranked the site and it is coming up 3rd on the first page. But, this of course is only when I type in keywords that I know. I need to change the title so that it is something that others would do a search for. How do I go about changing this or does it actually make a difference?

Do not change the title because you can mess up the good rankings you already have. If you need to change anything only change the description.

Hello Robert, Of the suggested people I chose you to ask a question concerning the building of a website on WA. I am going through the steps and I'm stuck on this one. I have built many websites using other builders and have never had a problem. But it seems that either I am not understanding something or this is a completely different system. Can you help?
Reply

What part of the 4-step building process are you stuck on?
Reply
Hey Robert, And thanks for your reply. When I built other websites on wix or jigsy, you chose a template and then you could add content to the site. I chose a template but it doesn't open up to that page and I don't see how to add either content or pictures or anything.
Reply
boomergp08 Premium
The process of adding content and images will be taught starting in lesson 7. You will add this content within the WordPress editor in the WP dashboard area. But before you can do that you have to learn how to set up the SEO foundation of your website so Google can index you.

Okay. Now it's starting to make sense. In step four it said build your website and I thought it meant complete. Moving on to step five. Thanks for clearing that up for me Robert.

Hi, Robert

First Happy New Year, wish you the best for 2018.

I have a question if you don't mind answering.
I know you've been selling online for a very long time now, it's why I think you're the right person for my question.

Yesterday I received an order from Amazon.com, the buyer bought one of my product, an Android TV Box, but he bought 9 Pcs of this same item. I also do wholesale as I work with a Chinese factory, but 9 Pcs of the same product, it's not very common on Amazon.
I was thinking perhaps it's a scam because I'm a new seller without any feedbacks. What worried me it's perhaps the buyer will ask for a refund and he can keep the products. Amazon has a very strong refund policy and some peoples will use this method to scam sellers.
I've also contacted Amazon, they told me I can choose to ship the order, but it's possible the customer will ask for a refund, it could happen they said. They also told me if I'm worried about the refund possibility, I can cancel the order, it will affect my seller account if I cancel, but a very small impact they said.

Telling the truth, I don't make money with this order, I will lose some money, about 10$, I made a mistake on the shipping process, but now I know how to modify that. The problem is not about the money, I'm willing to lose 10$ if this order goes smoothly. I'm a new seller and I just want to bring the best products and price to my customers, I want to do it in a long term.

I want to cancel the order as I won't make money on it and I have to put on some works to fulfill the order, but I was thinking what if the buyer is a good one, what if he really want to buy them without bad intentions. I know he probably buys them for reselling them back on other platforms.

What do you think?

Thanks, Robert.
Reply
boomergp08 Premium
That is a tough choice. If I was a new seller I probably would cancel the order because I have yet to establish myself as a reputable seller. If I were more established with more money already made, then I would probably take the chance and do the order.
Reply
CalvinC Premium
Yes, I totally agree with you.

Thank you for your advice, it really helps me as I was worried about this problem since yesterday.

I really want to provide the best products and service I can offer, but I don't like peoples trying to scam me because I'm new, but I guess it's how we do business.

Thanks, Robert, it really helps me with my decision.

When using a computer and not a phone or tablet, click on the picture you want to download to your computer.

Assuming you have a Windows PC and not an Apple, while looking at the enlarged picture on your computer screen, put your mouse pointer on the picture, click your right mouse button, and then select Save Image.

I do not see the need to spend extra money for a keyword research tool when WA offers a free keyword research tool for all Premium members. Both the WA keyword tool and Jaxxy are programmed the same way by the same people.

The only difference is that Jaxxy offers more features. But the WA keyword tool has provided me with keywords that have helped me to get on Google page one more than 20 times. I see no reason to pay for Jaxxy.

1. Include a Featured Image for all of your Posts, not pages. This will be the image that appears on your home page blog roll. Right now you have no corresponding images.

2. When placing images in your content they should not appear to the left of the content, only to the right and in the center. The left side margin should always remain constant with words.

Robert, I gave several thumbs up to all of your lessons I looked at yesterday which you directed us to, how to select images safely via google and look for CC images that can be used legally and a selection of websites where images were Free. Very helpful, I thought I could use anything on the internet. Your lessons got the point across to me thanks. Hopefully, the lessons keep me out of trouble.

Hi there Boomer,

I haven't quite figured out how to find somebody's real first name on here so I am going with your handle. I am about 48 hours in, never have heard of this place before and I am glad it is the holidays because I feel like a kid on Christmas. Anyway, Another member told me you have some good posts/training on sharing on social media, i.e. training posts and such in here. I would be grateful if you could share some of them with me.
Thanks,
Damo

Not every member posts their real name. If they do it will be somewhere in their profile description like mine is. You can also go to Kyle's first welcoming comment to them on their profile. His greeting normally starts with their name.

WoW! Very impressive! Hope you don't mind me following you.
I'm Premium , on my first month, gone through the very first round of Training and built my Website. (are we aloud to share our websites, like right here?)
But, I'm gonna give it another round. I'm having problems with writing Content. I'm not even sure it's live to the public. I'm sure I missed a few training points so I'm gonna take a few steps back to pick up on what I missed. Then I'll be ready to push forward!

There is nothing wrong with going back and doing the training over again. You will be amazed at how much you will learn because of what you will have missed the first time through.

Hi Rob,

I was thinking of adding a WA training link to one of my pages. Specifically Kyles training on creating a website in under 30seconds
I noticed that I can simply select the affiliate link tab above the video
Do you recommend this specific process introducing new people to WA?
Do you have any concerns with adding these training links? ( Ex: Too long to keep peoples attention or they get get into our program with with signing up)

I have a seasonal event niche not a topical one, meaning my products could vary from toys to electronics. What I'm having a hard time with is finding a product that is relatable enough to the niche. Help?

Wow, very informative and useful info. Thank you for the free lessons. There is so much to learn and see here. Its making it very exciting and easy to refer WA as a great place to learn and make money. I won't have a problem doing the bootcamp but will definitely start with the Get Started lessons. It all makes sense after you have explained it. Very helpful community here. Thank you so much. KIM

Rob in Phase two lesson Three,,,in our bootcamp section where it asks... Write an article that targets a new selling keyword...

I'm looking for a sample article that leads to the reason to refer the reader to Wealthy Affiliate...yes I understand it can say to sell anything like a car, boots etc...I struggle with the structure....

I struggle with the development of the paragraph

I understand our end goal is to get them to sign up to WA

Thank you if you have a model reference

Right now Im6 not exactly sure how you need help

You explain to your website readers how WA can help them to take any interest that they have, find associated products of that interest, and then become affiliates of the companies that sell those products.

Provide them with the information on how to join these affiliate marketing programs, what the commission structure is and how payment cookies work. Also tell them how they can search for affiliate programs on Google.

Basically give them as much info that they need to find a niche, find affiliate programs for that niche, how the programs work, and suggest possible products they could promote. Then direct them to WA to learn how to put all of this together.

Hi Rob,

When I select a WA page and click on the Affiliate Button. I get the long tailed link. One of Kyle's tutorials shows him selecting the Affiliate Button and getting access to the short version of that link. Its no longer there??
How do you get access to the short affiliate link ?
Reply

The short link option was discontinued in a WA platform update a couple of years ago. You can always take the long affiliate link and go to the Google link shortener and shorten it there. https://goo.gl

Hi Rob,
Been off the screen for a while... trying to get back again...
checked your very helpful comments on some peoples queries...
On one you mentioned that it would be preferable to start on the " Getting Started" as opposed to the "Affiliate Bootcamp" one...
Although I have not asked advice in this area before, it is the first time I hear it. Your reasoning sounds very professional to say the least.
I have done the entire Bootcamp course in 2016 and took the suggested ten day break... only returning now to start all over again!
Then I saw your comment... AND I want to start making a bit of money!... my first goal would be to recruit at least three premium members... to pay for mine...
I want to get started on the "Getting Started" training... and am thinking of using Amazon as the company to promote.
Would you be kind enough to part with some of your professional advice here... it would really be greatly appreciated.
Thanx in advance
John

Depending on the niche you select you may want to become an affiliate of another company other than Amazon. Amazon has lower commissions than most other affiliate programs and their purchasing cookie is only 24 hours.

This means if someone clicks on your Amazon affiliate link, makes a purchase, saves it to their shopping cart because they are not sure what else on Amazon they wish to buy while there, and then pays for everything after 24 hours, you will NOT get the commission.

Thanks for the reply and advice.
No I do not have a niche to target... that is why I was doing the Bootcamp...
Sure there are thousands of niches available and I am prepared to market anything...
Going to do the Getting started training to get more insight...
Maybe then I'll do WA anyway...

Thanx

Hi Rob,

This is a related question for the company I work with and wanted some of your professional technical input .
I still have a Day job, until WA picks up.

My day job is a small software company that develops a program for CPAs and Bookkeepers. We are trying to get our software product more Google traction in the rankings.

What tools can I use to find do combinations of Key word search's that we can use in our blogs and email blasts, we use an Auto responder called Infusionsoft.

Is Jaaxy one of them? Do you recommend others?
Reply
boomergp08 Premium
Though I do not use Jaaxy because the WA keyword tool is powerful enough for my website content creation, I would suggest that you use Jaaxy for your company as it has a lot more robust features that can be beneficial for you.

TopAcheiver mentioned you and Loes might have an answer to my question concerning images. I noticed in Photoshop, there is a lot of exif data, keywords and other information when I download images from a paid source. So my question is, what is good practice, is it ok to remove that exif data and keywords, etc. that they add?
Reply
boomergp08 Premium
Though I do not think it would be a problem removing it, I cannot say for sure because I only use images from totally free resources.

Hey Rob,

I know that attributing shouldn't be that complicated, but I'm confused a little.

Do I right click on an image, save it to my computer, upload it to my website media library and then edit and attribute like in your "How to apply attribution..." training, or will copying the HTML/BBCode in the text editor suffice for attribution?

And then the question arises, What about the Page URL and File URL links in the attribution portion of the website that you get the photo from? When I click on the "Use on the Web" link, it shows me "Page URL", "File URL", "Attribution" and then the HTML/BBcode.

Do I need to use all of those, some of those or none of those. I need some clarification so I don't violate copyrighting.

Also, I can't use a photo like this as Featured Image, unless it's in my media library.

Mahalo Nui Loa.
Reply
boomergp08 Premium
You are over complicating the whole issue. I would do it the way I described and then choose one of the links given for attribution. You do not need to use them all and frankly you have no way to do so.

Yes, your featured images are just like all of the other images you use on your website and they must be in your media library.

Why do you need the http to show for sharing your website? You can share it just like you did above without the http and still have it be a working link.

FYI, There is an image on your website that you cannot use because you do not have permission. It contains a company name watermark across the front which means it is NOT free to use.

I have attached the image of the photo below. You better replace it before you get into trouble from Shutterstock.

No free image will have a watermark across the front of it. The watermark is there to tell you that it is not free.

If you found this image on Pixabay it is important to know that all of the images along the top row and sometimes elsewhere, that say Sponsored Images, are not free to use.

You just gave me an idea for a new training blog for WA newbies regarding Pixabay and other image resource websites...Thanks. :-)

Hey Robert

Hope you don't mind me dropping by to ask a couple of questions :)

First of all, THANK YOU for sharing the lesson on the keyword tool. That was awesome info. I now fully understand it and can continue the trainings with your knowledge in place too. I really appreciate it!

The questions I was going to ask... I have a couple.

You mentioned you've been in the industry for 4 years. What made you decide to take this route and how long did it actually take until you started earning anything significant on a regular basis?

Do you have any tips or advice for those who are just starting out (besides the obvious "go through the trainings")?

Hope you have a great night and thanks again :)

Hi Chris,

I was already making money online by doing drop shipping on eBay but I wanted to build my own ecommerce website and do drop shipping from that, so I could stop paying all of the eBay fees.

But once I learned how affiliate marketing worked and how many different niches I could promote, I decided to take on that challenge and put the ecommerce website on hold.

I made my first bit of money just within 6 months but it wasn't until about a year that I started making consistent income. So my advice to all newbies is to be patient and never quit.

Thank you for the reply. Very informative and great advice. I've read many posts that mention the same, to not give up. I realise this is a long term strategy, nothing can happen overnight and there's hard work and learning ahead to put everything together in a package. Got some decently sized Facebook groups and a few Facebook pages I have created over the years but couldn't figure out what to do with them, until I came here! Now I have a plan of action and can truly embrace sharing the information gained from my "job" into a scalable online business. I'm pretty excited to be honest :)

Thanks again :)

Hi Robert! I found your profile through a discussion about being an ambassador. I was positively surprised to find out that you have been/are in the game industry! I've been making games for a long time as well, programming, game design and some graphics as well. When working in small teams everyone gets to do everything over the years.

It was also encouraging to read that in spite of having rewarding jobs you still want to try out different things and ways to make money.
