Hello Family =]
If I want to make one of my existing pages into a blog post, am I safely avoiding duplicate content by disabling SEO and Google analytics on the blog post
If you move content around on your own site, this is fine. It is only when you are taking content from somewhere else and putting in on your site when this becomes an issue.
I usually don't move pages => posts simply because you can organize your menu any way you like with custom menus, but completely up to you. This will not affect your rankings other than the page itself (if it is already indexed, you might lose some indexing).
Google has its own way of doing things, even if you uncheck everything it is still not a guarantee they won't look anyway.....it is set up that way.....you can do a re-write by simply rewording a few items here and there, or perhaps alternating paragraphs, addition paragraphs....actually, this applies to all search engines but in particular Google due to its popularity. There are free tools that can check your content before you publish it to make sure it will not be considered duplicate....
That's really helpful info, Rosie, and thank you to Ben and Judy also for commenting. Is there a particular plugin that you're referring to, or can you give me the name(s) of the tools you mentioned? Tyvm, Gg

Hope this helps....Happy Holidays to you and yours! :)
Thanks, Rosie! I'll look at all of these resources. You're very kind to share the knowledge - much appreciated =] Happy New Year! Gg
That's what networking is all about.....HAPPY NEW YEAR'S !!!! May 2015 shine bright for us all.....
I'm going by what Kyle says in the training about checking the four or five boxes on the SEO options when we did our Privacy Policy; seems to me this is a similar circumstance, in that I just don't want Google to index that page. Thoughts?
Yes Gwynn. We click No Index and No Follow as we do not want Google to index the Privacy page.
I think Google is smarter than that, and I would never duplicate content exactly, try rewriting it differently.

You made me smile; I would love to help you but I haven't got a clue :-). I admire the sentiment in your message too. Live long and Prosper!
Lol! You could go through someones Amazon link if you find what you're looking for there. :)
For a minute there I thought you meant a "Betting" niche. Very punny, though and you are very kind to think of supporting someone here.
The sooner the "bedder" lol Sorry I love goofy jokes like that. Hope someone is selling bedding stuff here. All the best!

If my website name and subtitle are in the form of a composite logo, will this have a negative impact on SEO rankings for my site?
What type of file image is the logo? I don't see why you can't put the name of your business, identical to how it is worded in the logo and use it as the alt-text for SEO purposes, too. Hope that helps, all the best!
Howie! Or should I say Benny?! This is a great tip... I'm headed over to make this change right away because it makes such perfect sense =] I really appreciate your taking the time to answer; it gave me another opportunity to visit your profile and read your words again. Sending you blessings and much goodness always, Gg
Haha, no problem at all! Glad I could help and hope you have everything worked out now. All the best and much success to you!
Not if you have your All In One SEO plugin all set up, it should not effect your rankings one bit :)
Thanks, Dan... My All In One is doing its background thing, so I now feel relieved by your comment! Gg

I've created graphics for some of my pages and want to link each graphic and its caption to an external source. I'm not finding any answers here so far, and am hoping someone c
Probably by the time you read this, you will have completed your task. It's a cincy, isn't it?
How funny, I read your question and was about to give you Nathaniell's training when I saw your comment! :)
Thanks so much to all you great people =] I just now came back to WA and the first thing I found was Nathaniell's training on this very subject! I'm all set now, and very appreciative of everyone's support. This community is so wonderful :-) Gg
My training here can help you with links

Barry
Nathaniell's training is spot on. You can link an image just like you do a text link. Click once on the image in the edit screen. It will outline. Now click the chain link button. Paste the URL you want to link the graphic/photo to in there, put in a short description, click on open in a new window and don't forget to update. Hope this helps!
Nathaniel recently published this training:

You can add a media link to any image. When you are inserting into your page choose add custom link in the dropdown and paste the link that you would like. If you have already put an image on a page or post. Click on the image and it will bring up two buttons on the top left. Choose the edit and not the x. You will see a dropdown menu to add a link. If the captions are separate from the graphics you can highlight and add a link the same way you would add your affiliate link. Hope that helped. Don
Hope this training will help https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/how-to-make-a-link-with-text-and-images
Hey Gwynn, if you click on the image, you can then click on the link button. It probably will already show that it is link to something. That's okay. That URL that is placed in there is not the actual source but where users will go to click it. WordPress defaults that to your source URL but you can change that to anything you want including an external link.
Hope this helps.
Best Regards,
Jim

My theme allows space for Sticky Posts, but I haven't been able to find out what a sticky post is and how it is used. Can someone
It's a special designation for a post that stays at (or sticks to) the top of your list of blog posts. As new blog posts are made, the "sticky" post remains at the top of the list as the first post visitors see when they enter your site. New blog posts appear directly under the "sticky" one. (Otherwise, new posts will push that post down the page as they are added.) Most people use them to give a site introduction that's always visible as the first thing a visitor sees.
Thank you, Bob =] A very succinct and helpful answer! Now I know just exactly what I'll use as my presentation page sticky post :-) I appreciate your time in teaching me. Gg
Hi Gwyn
You're in good company, because I haven't got a clue either :-). I would be grateful if, when you get an answer to your question, you would PM me and let me know too. Live long and Prosper!
Bob Barr's got the right answer for you. Did you put sticky post into the top search bar? There's a lot of info in the archives on sticky posts. I always go to that top search box when I need to know something. I'd say 95% of subjects that come up are in there. Good Luck with whichever type of opening post you choose. I use a blog roll.
I used the top search bar with several wordings, but nothing came up under Sticky Post. I do use that bar as my first go-to, but this is the first time I've come up empty!
you gave me a bit of a giggle, I know I use a bog roll but I'm not sure if I use a blog roll, but I suppose when I think of it, I do :D
This is a post that will remain at the top of your blog. Even after new posts are published, a sticky post will stay at the top.
Usually your favorite or top ranked post.
