It's been pointed out to me that my sites may not be authenticated. How do I go about finding out how to do this or find out if they are already authenticated? Thank you for an

Authenticated? In what way?

If someone sent you an email asking if your site was authenticated, it may be spam or phishing scam.

Affiliate programs or traffic tracking apps like Google Analytics may need to verify you own a domain, but they usually include instructions on how to do that.

Hi Nathaniell, Thank you to you and Phil for chiming in here.
To explain, I use MailerLite and I had a question to them about why I had a big number of sign-ups but not a big number of subscribers.
They are the ones who suggested the authentification because it looked like these visitors didn't hit the confirm button or for some reason, it didn't click through.
Hope this makes sense. I appreciate any suggestions on what to do. :) Thanks so much.

Oh, they are probably talking about a two-step authentication process for your email signup. Meaning when someone signs up to your email, they need to click an extra box to confirm. Something like "Check this box to confirm you're human".

That would filter out any tire-kickers, or spam signups.

Either that, or there's some kind of verification/authentication process I'm not aware of which would allow your emails to get better delivery rates. In any case, MailerLite may be able to provide more insight into what they mean by authentication.

Thank you, Nathaniell. They did send me instructions on how to do this so I'll work on that. I was just wondering if there was something to do with our sites here, but it looks like it's a MailerLite thing. Sorry for the confusion. I'm easily confused about these matters. :)

can you define authenticated Judy.
i am not understaniding what you mean.
all of the sites here have ssl certificates - when you switch them on with domains - meaning they are secure.
adding content from a non secure site will cause your site to show non secure content.
but they are secure.

I've looked in Google Console and all I see is zeros and straight lines for both of my sites. The one site I recently changed the title and transfered it over to the new title.

How long as it been? It takes a bit to start seeing data.

If you are not seeing any data and it's been a couple weeks, you may have a verification issue. Changing themes can remove verification in some cases.

You can try to re-install Google Analytics and Search Console, then resubmit your sitemap and see what happens.

Hey Judy,

Perhaps Jays webinar replay will help explain: Hope you find this helpful.

Why am I not seeing any results in google console?

I have a recent posts widget, but would like to list favorites instead of recent. Is there a way to do this? Thank you :)

Yah, I'm liking Nathaniell's idea. That's what I do!

You could create a custom menu for your sidebar:

Thank you, Nathaniell, hadn't thought of that. :)

Hi Judy, it is the same as adding links in the sidebar, and this is described in my training below. So make a post with a list of items that are linked to your posts, give the title, and copy all. Do not publish post but keep it for later, then go to Appearance, Widgets, Add a Text widget and paste the content you created, give a title you want.

Oh, thank you, Jovo. I knew there was training here, but couldn't find it. Will work on this. Thank you. :)

You can always pick any post and make it "Sticky". This means it will show up at the top of the list. You can only make one sticky at a time though. You do this by going to your list of posts on your site and then doing a "quick edit". There is a checkbox to make it sticky if your theme offers it. It is dependent on the theme.

Thank you all for the answer. I knew it was here somewhere, just couldn't find it. Thank you, again.

If you have widgets, you can write a title as you wish, any name.

You could also create a menu labeled favorites and only include your favorite posts there.

You could create a text widget for this. A good title would be "Popular Posts".

The post went to my blogs and I want it on the Short Story menu. Can't find how to change it. I hope it can be changed. Thank you

Thank you Nathaniell, Jovo and others here. I guess I won't worry about it being in two places. Thought that might be an issue. I had added a story before and it went where I wanted and I thought this one would too. Oh, well. Thank you all again.

You would need to see if your theme allows for, or to install a plugin to remove the post from your blog roll. You could potentially have your blog roll exclude certain categories, and make your post that category, so it's listed in one place, but not the other.

But having your blog post in multiple places is not an issue. AIO SEO takes care of any SEO implications for that.

There is no harm of having a post in several places. So you can leave it in the blog roll and in addition go to Appearance, Menus, Posts, Add to menu. Then drag and drop under the item in the menu whare you want it. Save Menu after that.

Or do as John says, make a page of it and do the same as I described above. There is a plugin pType Converter to change post to page, done in seconds. After that deactivate the plugin.

Open the post's editor and over on the right side you should be able to uncheck the category that is putting it in the 'blog' category then check the Short Story category.

I appreciate the help, but I'm missing something. The post is now in two places, under the blog menu and the short story menu. I only want it under the short story menu. How do I delete it from the blog list? The post is only listed once in the post area. I hope I'm being clearer here. Thank you again.

Probably just need to open up "Menus" and then delete that post from the menu. You'd also want to delete it from the "Blog" category.

Dashboard>Appearance>Menus ... select the correct menu then click on the post down arrow. At the bottom on the right in red you'll see Remove. Click on Remove and it's deleted!

Hope that helps!

Go back into menus and choose to add the short story category to the menu. Then all posts with that category will fall on the right menu. Add additional categories to the menu as you wish.

Thank you so much for replying. It still isn't working the way I want. I was able to get it to the menu I wanted, but it's still in blogs too. How do I delete it out of blogs?

If you don't want an article in the blogroll, write a page and add to menu. Menu is for pages, although you can add posts to a menu. Categories are for posts, and you cannot add pages to categories. Sounds confusing, but there is some deep logic to it.
