Hi, All!
I was hoping someone in the community could help me determine whether or not it matters how your link is displayed in the search engines for SEO purposes.
To to Settings > Permalinks and choose Post Name. It will not change your URLs but it will change the way the posts show up on the search engine results.
Yea, I've already had that set up that way. I'm thinking one of the plugins changed it around. But thank you for the advice!
In the dashboard of your wordpress, you have settings... medialink
Be carefull with those... best is to juse standard
If w/e you are doing is working I wouldn't change it. Are you using an SEO plugin? and if so, which one?
All you have to do is make sure that you're filling out the meta info correctly. The display probably has something to do with schema so I wouldn't be concerned.
Yes, I am using Yoast SEO plugin and I feel like that may be causing the problem or having a conflict with another plugin. However, I am ranking for over 4,100 relevant keyword phrases that I certainly don't want to lose but others I want to improve and wonder if it had any impact on keeping them from getting the boost I am trying to get for some of those keyword rankings. I wasn't sure if anyone else was noticing their permalinks showing the way mine do in the search engines and/or knew if it was anything to be concerned about or not. I also don't know how important keywords in permalinks are anymore.
Regarding the schema data, I also have a SSO Free plugin that has a schema markup extension that is supposed to help show the correct schema markup but it also took away some capabilities of Yoast and I can no longer control the images associated with social media posts and I'm not sure that it is reading the correct metadata that I want the search engines to pick up. Perhaps, I should ditch that extension altogether? However, it was helping to place the proper schema markup read by the search engines.
I know this probably sounds very confunsing but it feels like I need to choose between correct schema markup or correct metadata and social media pics and sizes.
Anyone that can follow this and help is greatly appreciated and I appreciate the insight you've provided already.
Perhaps, I am packing over nothing, lol. I'm stuck and don't want to suddenly drop my rankings.
Thanks!
I think you're overthinking on this. You're ranking fine as far as I can tell. You're not going to be ranked #1 for all of the keywords you target no matter what tool you use.
Keep doing what you're doing. You're doing fine. All of this sounds like how it's supposed to be. :)
You're probably right. It is just one of those things that were bothering me that I couldn't figure out, lol. Thanks!
