I have a chance to acquire an established site. How do I transfer it over to me? Thanks.

Usually domains are registered with places like NameCheap...

See MarionBlack's response

Ditto with 2Al. Please tell me what you gain by acquiring an established site? Thanks. DAN

Great question. I'm learning from the responses.

See Marion has covered it for you hope it goes well

You need to approach your preferred domain name registrar and get their help on this one Ron. I have done it but I acquired the domain from a trusted source. Other people who don't know each other use an escrow service.

You'll need to transfer the files from the existing domain to your computer and then migrate them to the domain when it's at its new host.

I knew that MarionBlack would have the answer. She is smarter than most of us here at WA. What would we do without her? Just love ya MarionBlack. If you weren't an Aussie I would suggest that we meet so that I could pick your beautiful brain. I guess I will just have to follow you on WA will have to do for me for now, though. DAN

You'll need the seller to push the domain to you. Easy if you have an account on the same registrar as they do. Just search the registrar's faq for push domain.

Then you'll need to copy the site to your hosting. . Usually pretty easy with a clone plug in. Eg WP Clone. If it's a very big site then you might have to do it all by FTP and also fiddle around with MySQL. In which case it might be easier to find someone on Fiverr to do it for you for $20 or so. ( That's what I did when a site I bought turned out to be around 4GB in size.)

Hello,

Restier your name at registrar (namecheap for example) and change the DNS servers... Grtz,
Bert

Thanks for the link Bert

Howvcan I put my photo on my wp site that will show up next to my name in a comment or response ? All there is there now is a dummy photo.

That would be a Gravatar.

see Marion has it covered hope you managed to get it done

MArionBlack has you covered on this one.

Hi Ron, you need a gravatar which is linked to your email address. Once you set that up, any time you leave a comment on your own or someone else's website your photo will appear.

Check out the Discussion (Comments) settings in so you don't show the 'mystery man' image.

Use the wordpress "user avatar" plugin. You can upload a photo of yourself into the media file then use the thumbnail of it as your avatar, it will automatically be seen on each of your comments. You can also choose an avatar from the plugin for your visitors. Looks nicer than the shadow picture.

Go to the training on Gravatars in Course 2 (I think) and set up a Gravatar. Gravatar will help you set up an avatar (small picture of yourself that will show up everywhere you go on the internet. Works great. DAN

when I go to siterubix site manager to log in to my site, the thumbnail photo is of someone else's site, even after I refresh it. When I login, my site is amazingly slow. Even

Tech support is awesome!

I'll second that Gayle!

ROCK ON!

Happy to learn we can count on the tech support as much as on the support of the community! :)

Sounds like you've done the right thing!

Thanks all for your comments. I put in a support ticket, and they turned off all of my plugins and it worked perfectly. So I went through them one by one and found a good mix that does most everything I want, and only slows it a minimal amount. Thanks!

Yes a support ticket would probably be the best route Ron.

mine seem fine it it is not to do with your cache or browser perhaps you can put a support ticket in

How do other pages load on your PC? Are they slow as well?
Perhaps there are updates for your PC loading in the back ground taking up your band width.
Can you try opening n a different browser? IE If you are using Chrome, try Firefox for instance.

I have two sites up and they came up fine, and at normal speed but they are my own domain. I still had to access them in Site Rubix though.

If the problem persists I recommend opening a support ticket un Site Rubix and then select Site Support Ron.

ROCK ON!

I had a quick look. I had no problem with the affiliate site, but the elderly one, you are right is taking minutes, its still going. I wish I could give you an answer why, but I'm not sure. I sometimes have problems with my images loading even thought i have checked them all and they are small. maybe a question for support?

I had the same experience. Maybe too many plugins? Is causing the slowness?

I am having a tough time verifying my site with Bing. I am using Yoast, if that makes a difference. I know very little about html coding. Thanks.

Katie's got you covered. Listen Ron, the best way to learn this stuff is to see if you can find the answer. Eddy Salomon has a solid blog on getting help.....Dick

see if this will help you out

I don't know about Yoast but in All In One Seo all you need to do s paste the verification (number only) into the space provided under Bing Verification.

You do not need to know coding. Kyle gives the procedure in Certification Courses, you will find it easily. I did not have problem following his instructions.

I use yoast SEO for WP. Do I need to write meta tags myself, or does it do them automatically? If I do, is there a training on how to write them, and where to put them? Thanks.

Krazykat's got it covered Ron.

Type meta into the question bar up top. There is a lot info available and Robert (Boomer) has done numerous trainings all listed there.
