It's me ... Eric

I'm certain I'll revise this profile a few times (or more) as I am winging it right now so I will keep it short and sweet.

I am a seasoned healthcare equipment management expert. I've been in the field over 20 years and love technology and helping people. I am an over achiever that doesn't settle for less than the best.

In my off time I am a musician/songwriter. I am self taught on several instruments and enjoy recording my own songs. I've had a few bands in the past and was in a few too. I enjoyed my 15 minutes of fame opening for big acts and headlining several times.

My goal is to become self sufficient and stop "working for the man" so to say ... or at least compensate my income. lol. Joking aside I started farming and wish to earn my living myself ... family included of course.

Until ...

Thank Marcel. I've been around WA a bir, for a few days I was ranked #2 - now I'm looking to reach 666 just to take a picture of it. Kidding of course. Hello - sry to bother you but I got this is my email this morning and I'm kinda freaking out:

"We’ve noticed that you’ve successfully created your first ad unit, but you haven’t placed your ad code on thaifoodwithlex.com. This step is necessary for the full activation of your account. Please sign in to AdSense to get the ad code for the ad unit that you’ve created, and then place the code on your site."

I've been working on this all day but I can't really see if anything was done. I see dead people... I mean blank boxes.

Does Google have a deadline? Am I in danger of getting dropped by Google?

Opps, didn't mean to write a novel but any help would be appreciated.

No worries Sadie.

Google does not have a deadline nor will they drop you if you haven't yet placed an Adsense ad. It looks like the email is simply a reminder for you to place an ad.

When you first place the ad you may not see anything right away. This is normal. I am glad though that you don't really see dead people. :-)

I looked at your site and did not see an adsense ad, should it be in the box in the right sidebar near the top?

Nice guitar Eric. I used to do that also, but probably not at your level. Most grange halls and back street taverns! But, I have three grandsons that do very well with guitars, bass guitars and mandolins. They do everything from country to semi heavy metal. Sometimes at family functions I get my 1953 Telecaster and Tweed Fender amp out and let them play it...they love it. Thanks for note and you should start seeing some activity from me going forward..

Excellent Pat, your grandkids must have a blast playing with that Tweed and Telecaster.

Reply
EKautz Premium
Harmonica is cool. I am not good at it at all, lol.

The best advice I can give you for a niche is to choose something you really love to talk/write about. You want to keep your interest to keep the readers interest. All niche's are pretty much the same it's more about what you do with it that makes it valuable.

Hi Eric,
I am new to WA, but I have seen your name pop up a few times, so I took a look at your profile. I, too, am a musician, although I have never made a living at it. I play with guys that I have known a long time and we have had lots of fun gigs over the years. We rarely play anymore given the demands of family and work, but we have recently been practicing for an upcoming gig.
Just thought I would reach out to say hi to a fellow musician and, well, rock on!

That's awesome Devon!

What kind of music do you guys play? I've been in a few cover bands mostly playing alternative, grunge and classic rock.

I spent some time in SoCal, when I was in the military, San Diego to be exact. Beautiful area. I also had relatives that lived in Long Beach and Huntington Beach that we'd visit. I had good times out there, like a dream.

later on!

We did a little bit of everything: Rolling Stones, Elvis Costello, Joe Jackson, Social Distortion, Talking Heads, etc. Like you, it was primarily alternative with a little classic rock thrown in.

Funny you should mention Long Beach and Huntignton Beach - I live right in between the two. I feel very fortunate that my wife and I bought our house when we did as I don't think we could afford it in today's market.

I was in one band that played metal and it was really fun to play fast and hard like that. It's also the band where I had my 15 minutes (actually a few years) of fame.

I play many genres and like just as many. If I had to pick only one it would be a toss up between punk and Pink Floyd (Floyd is there own genre as far as I'm concerned).

Seriously Eric, farming? That is awesome. I never got off the farmstead I rented but had 100 chicken and 12 pigs. Besides that I had a huge vegetable garden and one could say I lived of that for 85% of my living. I also kept scrounging car parts for the Dodge cars and the Chevy truck I had. So that didn't cost me much either. I used to "rebuild my engines on the pick nick table behind the house. This was the most fun I had during the six years of that. 3 acres, a barn and a multitude of sheds and all that for $50/mo!
Reply
EKautz Premium
That is awesome Mike!

I've got a dozen or so chickens, same with ducks. Moving into turkeys and pigs during the coming year and expanding the garden too! Most of my 5 acres is beautiful hardwoods that I don't want to cut so I'm somewhat limited on space but I am good at making things fit. :-)

We bought a short sale property so the mortgage is only 260 which isn't too bad but it's certainly not 50 bucks.

I've got an old dodge plowtruck/farmtruck that I am going the same thing with ... welding, ductaping and scavenging parts to keep er goin'.

I'd love to get your thoughts on pigs sometime.
Reply
Mike1942 Premium
Boy Eric, first of all, have you got a litany of Niches there and , eh (that is Canadian!), do I ever envy you! Now I am sitting on a very small city lot with just enough room for a small homebuilt greenhouse and a couple of sheds. The winters are too harsh for the greenhouse and so it is back to the sh...y grocery store vegies. And all the animals we can afford here, and are allowed here are two cats. These old Dodges are indestructible, aren't they. I had about a dozen or so full sized 85 Dodge Vans in my later days; used them for tool storage and moving plywood and drywall. The GMC/Chevy trucks on the farmstead were mostly used to get firewood from down by the Bow River. I had an oil furnace but heated and cooked on woodstove fires.
The pigs are really simple. Mine did get all their shots, Vitamins, and the rest was simple. Just keep them CLEAN and no more then two or three per normal sized pig pen. They will eat in one corner, poop in another and keep things separated if enabled and then sleep in the rest of the pen left. If you clean the pen every day,, morning or evening (your choice) give them fresh straw to wallow in they are going to be happy campers. The other thing to remember ids, if you are raising them for meat, or sale then crossbreeds are better. They give better meat. And, and that is very important, the pig need to go out and get fresh air and sunlight! If you follow that you will be known in your neighbourhood for quality pigs!
Hope this helps Eric! Boy do I wish I could at least visit some day!

Well hell Mike you can visit anytime you choose. I am well versed in the Canadian eh, I live right near Niagara Falls in NY. We just took a trip to Toronto a few month ago.

Grocery store stuff (especially veggies) are horrible and full of who knows what. Not cheap either.

It may be the end for this Dodge (and it's not one of the real good ones, it's a 97) as the tranny is shot and the engine blew a plug out of the case. It'll be fun to mess with though.

It sounds like I have a perfect place for a couple of pigs then. I love pork, especially double smoked speck.

My pops got a buck yesterday in our woods and I'm currently typing this response to you and have my loaded 12 gauge ready for the next one to wander by. I bet they didn't think of blogging and hunting when they thought up multitasking. :-)

I'm thinking of doing a homesteading niche site just for fun and for more of a diary than anything else.

Well, I should get back to work on my site, it's been fun Mike we should chat again soon. I'll have to send you some photos of my place. ... and I'm serious about you stopping in anytime.

Thanks for the invite Eric, it's a little too far for me from here in Calgary, Alberta to Niagara Falls in NY. I am not sure if they let me across the boarder either. I had a spat with the boarder control years back at Sault Ste. Marie, going forth and back between Michigan and Ontario. They didn't like me very much because I fooled them several times and laughed about it. The guards have no humor! And there are a few other things that might impede me from going into the States, like the politics down there and I commented on plenty on the internet!
No matter, thus far I wouldn't have the time nor money to do that, even though I would love to. My wife is from around that area and keeps telling me how beautiful it is and beautiful I could use. The prairies are getting to me with the drab landscape and limited use. I come from the Lake Constance area in Germany and that is more like where you are.
On the hunting bit I must disappoint you. I was never much of a hunter and have a hard time killing a chicken. I used to leave that up to my former father in law. He was an Irish/Cree/Indian, raised by the Blackfoot and an avid hunter. I just kept watching him (the natives have special hunting rights here in Canada). The meat was usually delicious but I had to teach my mother in law how to prepare venison and make it taste exceptional. Indians just boiled the crap out of it and then ate it that way. it wasn't very tasty at all. My Blackfoot wife died of breast cancer in 1996 and now I am married to a white woman from Ontario for the last 25 years. She is absolutely a "city girl" and I hate it here. Cities are cesspools and nothing better!
I sure hope that WA will eventually give me the means to live out my life somewhere in the "boondocks".
Oh yah! Your name must be German if you know about Speck, isn't it? Good stuff!

You got me Mike, German I am (well and a little mix). My Great Grandparents came over the States on a boat in the 20's to escape Nazi Germany. They worked hard as hell and bought a sawmill and cider-mill turning it into a family owned business. We just closed that cider mill about 15 years ago after being in the family for decades. We sold the equipment to the family that sponsored my ancestors to come to the States. My dad currently resides on the property.

You got yourself a city girl ... nothing wrong with that, she'll teach you how to live high on the hog and enjoy life in a different way.

Awe hell when we get our businesses up and running we'll find a way for you and the misses to come visit a spell. We got some city here for her too and when the girls go play we can hang out in the woods.

I had no interest in hunting until last year. Funny because my family brought me up to hunt. I haven't shot anything but pictures yet ... though I have, in the past few years, harvested (great PC word for killed to eat) a few chickens. Now I just enjoy their company and eggs.

Later on Mike.

Good one Eric! I like your sprit about the whole thing in the "woods" and would love to join you. Yeah, city girl alright! We had a compromise and moved to a, at the time, littler town but then, after two trailers, one house back to the city and ended up in a trailer again. Luckily it is on its own property and so we at least own something. In the meantime I converted it slowly into a sort of condo style place. We are having hardwood flooring with marble tiles in the laundry/half bath and kitchen (still working on) and the outside looks more like a house but you never can hide that trailer look. The place has all energy efficient windows and four outside doors, just like a real house. Unfortunately my wife never sees the HOUSE in it but the trailer. And the city pulled a fast one on us and zoned the area all of a sudden as "Mobile Homes" only, without asking us or our input! These bas....
want our properties eventually to sell it to "developers" and put Condos on it. Well, they will have one big surprise|: I won't budge and over my dead body! I guess they can arrange that too, the way I know them. We have a Muslim as a mayor. Not that I have anything against Muslims in their own country but they are getting too big here and are making too many unreasonable demands. If we go to their country and ask for the same rights we give them here, we wouldn't survive the first three days. So what gives them the right to come here and "demand"? Sorry, I had to put that in here because I am severely peeved! This mayor of ours always talks about "equal rights" and means his/their rights and not too much ours. He would love us to visit the Mosks in this country instead of the churches. I don't do either of them and think that religion is one of our biggest problems in this world. I put a blog on Google about that not too long ago. So far no takers yet. It's all about our "brainwash" for millennia!
I am not sure what your feeling on that subject are but here it is anyway. I also think that we should take our conversations onto the PRIVATE Messages, it's really not what our members are interested in, except for maybe a very few! What do you think? Mike

What's wrong with trailers ... I like them, reminds me of camping. I've owned a couple of houses and now own a 'glorified' trailer - a.k.a. double wide, no wheels though, what a bummer ... I'd really like to move it just a tad to the left. My other half only sees the trailer too though, gotta be something they learn in school cause I didn't take that class.

I learned long ago that putting too much on what others are doing gets me nowhere so I don't bother anymore. I focus on mine and my little slice o' heaven. lol don't touch my slice and I won't touch theirs.

You can give me a shout in PM and we can keep chatting while we build our empires. :)

I am sure you have gone to bed by now and I am just having supper. There is nothing wrong with "trailers" in my mind, especially when they are renovated and really cozy. I had a fight with the insurance company calling my place a trailer just so they could charge me double. My "trailer is mostly dry-walled, has hardwood flooring and marble tiles. Most of the outside wall have 2" of styrene added under the vinyl siding and the roof is brand new wit R50 insulation. When I get a chance I can send you some pictures. It's still 12 years in the making. What bugs me is the zoning the city imposed on us and makes us feel like second class citizens! They are up to no good and I am determined to find out. I got the neighbours set on them too because they didn't have a clue! We will have to keep communicating like this because I only have a landline and long distance costs a fortune. So there is no "chatting" other then this. I never had anyone to talk to outside my area.
You are right! I have given up on the "Joneses" a long time ago and do what I like and not what the so called "peers" like. They can like what they want and like what I want and that is that! I drive an old 2003 GMC Savana Van and my wife has a 2006 VW Golf Diesel. I am going to sell my Van when I am done with the Renovations, sometime next year. That thing has got a six liter engine, I am not sure what that is in cuin. but it sure eats the gas like there is no tomorrow. When I was contracting that could be written off but now I am retired and there are no write offs.
Well, got to go and get some sleep. Talk to you tomorrow Eric and have a good night! Mike

Hi Bernard, nice to meet you! Claire is great, I love her website.

I don't play in bands anymore, other than the occasional impromptu gig. I mainly focus on writing an recording my own music.

I put out an album around 96,97ish about six months after picking up a guitar for the first time. All original songs too.

I've been working on my second album, again fully, and this time I am playing nearly all of the instruments, doing some vocals, co-engineering and co-producing.

Classical is my favorite, especially the scales and runs that you see in many heavy metal hair bands.

I wish you the best success here at WA and should you need anything just let me know.

Thanks for the follow, Eric! Had to quit farming for food here because of the drought so I'm growing succulents and desert friendly plants and trees. The front yard is a Xeriscape (cool name, huh?). My goals and yours (as stated) are the same...I had a woodcarving business for 15 years that supported me but never an internet thing. I wish us both good luck, meaning, that we'll both create good luck for ourselves and hopefully others. Fun talking with you, Man!!

My pleasure Billy. I could google it but it's more fun chatting with you so ... what's a Xeriscape?

What sort of succulents are you growing?

Reply

It's just a landscape with drought tolerant plants but it sure sounds a lot cooler than that doesn't it? Everybody out here is ripping out their grass and replacing with desert plants because we now have water restrictions on how often you can water, etc. And more to the point, it's now the LAW. The snowpack in the Sierras is completely gone and that's where we get most of our water...really dry times out here, Man!! As far as succulent types...EVERY kind that I think is beautiful (which is every kind!)...just love those plants...Trees: acacia, palo verde, arbutus and 2 big palms in the front yard...we've got more plants in the front and back than you can believe (may have gone overboard in the front) but they're on a drip system and nothing out there needs a lot of water.....aaaannnndddd..wait for it....one tomato plant! Ah well...last year I had a pretty big garden that fed us BUT it turned out that I was eating $5 tomatoes and $4 zucchinis...it wasn't really cost effective. I think you either have to go bigger or smarter or both to make it worth your while...I did all organic. So what are you growing, Dude? Before long we'll all be able to grow weed...hard to believe, eh?
Reply
EKautz Premium
Oh man I feel for you Billy. I mean the drought - wow.

I do love the type of trees you speak of and I cannot have any .... I'm in western New York near Buffalo. We had over 7 feet of snow at my house in Snowvember and a total snowfall of over 21 feet this season - breaking record for all of NY.

Poor little tomato - all alone out there. I heard you cannot over water tomato plants but never tried to really soak one.

Yeah planting for yourself is not always realistic from a cost vantage, however, you know what your getting and wants on it or in it.

It's our first year and we have a small plot - about 12 feet bay 26 or so.

We planted beans, cauliflower, broccoli, tomato, radish (a couple kinds), leaks, onions (many kinds), cucumbers, garlic and spices.

We got a good deal on a few things as bulbs but most were seeds we started so the cost was relatively cheap.

We've had some good rain and an early start on the growing season. We have a well so water is cheap as it costs to run the pump. of course we could always hand pump.

I sprouted onions, garlic and potato from some growing in the fridge - lol - so those were free in a way.

It's a hobby for us and we plan to can a bunch for the winter to make sauces and such.

I made my million and spent it all - the corporate world can kiss my ass. We are going to be homesteaders now.

We've got chickens and ducks and if all goes well a couple of pigs and a cow are on the list.

Wow I can really talk huh --- maybe I need to build a site about homesteading - damn - I'm going to because it's my life and easy to write about.

See Billy you inspired me and made me realize I have a passion nearly as great as music!!!!

ROCK ON Billy!

Yeah...not only is that poor tomato lonely, it's sunburned...I had to pull that poor baby out of the direct sun for a while! You know....Lifestyle Blogs/Sites etc. do very well and Dude you gotta write about your passions!! There are so many people out there (me included) who dream about living off the grid...plus there are so many different ways of doing it: sorta, somewhat, partially, gettin there, almost there and then...drumroll...FULLY COMMITTED. Think you got a winner Bro!! I remember a story I read when I was really young and right at the beginning of winter they slaughtered the hog and used every single bit of it....it broke my heart but it was fascinating. I bet I'll laugh my butt off when you have to slaughter a hog and write about it. How the heck would you do it...Lordy...I've never even been hunting before because I was afraid I would kill Bambi by mistake!! Anyway...believe it or not I lived on a commune for 7 years, was a vegetarian for a long time and did the whole hippie thing. We raised all our own food and were pretty happy campers for a long time. There are lots of old people like me out there in cyberland who remember those days (but you better be quick...we're dying off rapidly) who would love to read about your farm. Now on a more sober note....just what the heck am I supposed to write about pen & ink illustrations? Buy yourself a pen and draw something...yeah Baby...I'm in the money NOW!!.......I lived in Big Bear, CA for 15 years at about 7400ft. and man...I'm done with snow...over it.

Super Cool Larry!

You're site has come a long way since I last visited - Awesome work!

I got carried away and left you couple onsite comments. I need to poke around your site some more.

The Chord Buddy looks pretty cool for a new player, and heck think about someone that really doesn't want to learn to play but wants to jam some songs around the campfire - so it has a gimmick edge too.

I'll hold out for the sweep picking barre chord lighting fast solo buddy though. LOL - it take s a musician right ...

Way to be there bro!!

The comment was very constructive and much appreciated.

Please do look around, your input is most sought out for.
Most of my pages are short in word count and working on this.

Thinking about taking background out from side bar. Beginning to think it makes it hard for reader to see.

I'll try the solo stuff but I want to stay friends, LOL!!

Larry
Reply
EKautz Premium
Anytime Larry. I'll leave more for you too.

The side bar didn't bother me at all, but not much does so ...

I don't go by word count, in fact most of my articles are short, they just end when they end, sort of like they end themselves. I write in like a trance I guess - same way I play. Does word count matter for SEO - I would hope not - Quality is Quality after all and I was always told size doesn't matter - LOL

Friends till the end!

Oh, and I play all those old acoustic songs that I didn't want to learn many moons ago. I play them more now than shredding on my electrics. Peaceful folk type stuff.

ROCK ON Larry!

super glue on the finger tips Larry, works wonders.

That band played in drop C - the strings were loose low and growly!

It was a blast.

I may have something Larry but more importantly are you using CJ (Commission Junction)? If so are you using Guitar Center as an affiliate?

If not you should. I am and they have a ton of stuff that would be perfect for your site. In fact I just received an affiliate update from them that they are having a special promotion April 17-19 (you get credit for in store purchases through this too) and they have - get this - 50,000 guitars under a hundred bucks.

Just thought you'd like to now.

I'll get back with you on the video and stuff.

Another good one at CJ is Zzounds. They are a bit pricier for the consumer but have a loyal following due to their payment program - people can purchase items and pay over so many months without interest.

Note - CJ will not send you a notification when your approved or denied by an affiliate. I waited a week or more and then one day went on CJ and boom there was Guitar Center listed as MY affiliate. So check back often.

I`m glad you live your dream. I play guitar and it`s all I play. I did bass tracks on some of my recordings but I`m not very attracted to bass. I need to learn more about technical stuff and recording equipment and that`s why I`ll take a deeper look at your website.

What kind of music do you do? Is there any sample of it on the internet?

By the way, do you think that WA method of affiliate marketing really work? I`m little split about it.

Regards
Igor

Super Cool Igor - Guitar is my main instrument too!

I have much to put on my website and have not gotten 'too technical' yet but I've years of experience and am pouring it in to LRT as I can.

I do not have any music up on the web yet- there may be some of some bands I played in, not certain about that. I will be adding some links on my site to an Album I did in the mid 90's (yeah lol long time ago) and a teaser track (pre-prod) from my upcoming album.

As for WA - I would not waste time here if I was not 100% certain that the WA method of affiliate marketing worked.

In fact - where I come from they say - 'shyt or get off the pot' - not sure if that means anything to you but I can lay it out in another way - a guitarist way -

You know when you hit that one note, bend it and get a little pinch harmonic making the world a beautiful place .... well - that's WA to me and I'm here to stay.

It's all up to you man - you choose - success or failure - no free rides at WA - instead you build a business with a solid foundation.

Whatever you do - do not be split - just go for it 'cause life's short and every moment counts.

ROCK ON!

E (aka Eric)

I understand that expression. Thanks for that. I was split whether WA is worth the effort or not, cause I did affiliate work before and got nowhere with it. I`ll try it out.

And if you get anything out that can be found on the web, or your website, let me know.

Talk to you later

Yeah Igor, I'm not trying to sell you on WA or affiliate marketing put being on the fence sucks.

Great to hear your giving WA a go. I'm not certain what went wrong for you with other affiliate work Igor but I can say for certain that success or failure is only up to you.

All the tools are at WA - Everything you need!

I'll give you a hand anytime you need it.

I will be putting some of my music up soon - pre production and months prior to release.

ROCK ON!

Maybe it`s to soon to say, but it seems to me that I was learning the wrong approach and methods before. Nevertheless, your straight-forward opinion of it, together with the good spirit of the community made me to re-think and get into it.

Thanks for the support.

Just let me know when you get it out. Talk to you later!

Hello Eric. May I ask you something, just quickly. I tried to ask Kyle something, sending a private message but I couldn`t post it, cause there was no button to post it. Strange. Do you know how it`s done?

And, maybe you can help me with the question I wanted to ask him. I want to create the first website without the siterubix as extension (like your domain), but there was no video explaining how to go with on`s own domain. I guess you go to the namecheap or similar, buy it, and then put it here. Is that correct?

Igor
Reply
EKautz Premium
Sure Igor

To send a private message you can just click on the persons picture to get to their profile page and up top next to the follow/unfollow button is a private message button. Specifically with Kyle you need to go through the prompts first and eventually you'll get to a place where you can send a message. This is so that many questions can be answered without having to actually send him a message.

I have not tried to build a site first outside of WA. I started with the siterubix site and then bought a namecheap domain and transferred mine over to it.

However I have seen posts where other community members have brought their pre-made sites over to WA, so it can be done though I'm not certain exactly the process.

I recommend that you go to your profile click on questions and ask the question to the community at large. Then your question will list in the Activity Dashboard and I'm certain one if not more will have your answer Igor.

As Always -

ROCK ON!

Thanks man - I've only just begun. I do have a couple links - Amazon on a can review and guitar center on the KRK review. Very subtle as I intend to provide others with years of my experience and hope to build a solid following that will trust my opinion and then purchase. Going slow, steady and methodically I guess.
I see tats and a plank in your pic - nice! I have a prison tat - no I was not in prison, or ever got in trouble at all, just got it that way at home to see if it'd hurt - it didn't so I had one done, same technique, in my armpit - that one hurt a little bit
