Do you prefer to watch a video or read the text in a website?

For the most part, I like to read, unless it's something technical in which case video might be more useful.

When I am reading, I can easily skim the article in question for what is relevant, but when watching a video, it can be hard to skip around and find just what you need. You pretty much have to watch the whole way, or most of the way, through.

I bet. So, I think that explains why short videos are popular.
It's easy to skim written words, but again your feedback is giving vital information that we must remove the fluff from writing, so the readers don't just skim through.

Thank you very much for sharing!

Depends on the subject, but mostly I like to read.

Thanks for sharing your information.

Cheers.

I prefer to read the material

That's great. Helps you to skim easily, I guess. :)

Both :)

Thanks for sharing. :)

Depends I actually like a video with the text on it.

Ah. great. Interesting. :)

For me, at least here at WA, I have been reading, then watching, then reading again. I retain things better that way for some reason. :)

Yes, you see members here prefer one over the other. Wealthy Affiliate has taken care of both types. :)

It depends, but I prefer text. I can stop and think about what has been written. Videos can be paused. But in general, I learn better via text than video.

I guess you write a lot, so you prefer text. But again it is just a guess as reading allows us to exclude portions we want to skim.

Thank you very much for sharing!

Watching a video is definitely better for me. It makes it a lot easier to understand when I see an example rather than reading something and then trying to piece it together .
Hope that helps.

Yes, it was helpful. You're a bit different, and I prefer it your way. :)

Cheers.

Videos have great deal of appeal!

You're like me - visual person. :)

I'd say it really depends.

Depends... if you don't mind please can you share the situation where you would prefer one over the other?

It is paramount for your SEO that Google indexes all your links.

I can run a batch of 50 links and respond with links that are not indexed. I have some credits to spare

I have 3 sites and indexing by Google search console

That's great. Good for you. :)

Such a nice offer . How does index differ from ranking with Google? Thanks! Pat B

You need to get indexed first! Gautam

I've checked them all by typing in Google search bar. site:mydomain.com. I have over 160+ indexed now, Gautam.

That's great. Good for you if you have the time.

I would typically run in badges of hundreds and send the pages that are not indexed for indexing. It usually takes 10 seconds or less and saves me hours of work.

Thank you for your message.

Thanks, that's great to know Gautam, that is such a time saver!

I have just 4 and I'll get to them. Thanks Gautam

Excellent Mike!

So what's wrong with just doing a google search by typing:
site: and then your domain

Nothing wrong there if you have the time! It took me less than 10 seconds to run a whole batch and point to members that all their links need indexing, so they are careful.
I knew this would come up, but you can see for yourself members are not aware.

Thanks for your message!

Good afternoon Gautam,

To tell you the truth I thought that if Google has your website indexed everything would be ok.
So yes, I would appreciate you looking to see if all is well.

Hi Taetske,
Your URLs are indexed, no doubt. You could manually check the links or send them here so I can bulk check them.
I will read your post and comment there.

Gautam

Good morning Gautam,

I am a very untechnical woman, would not know how to manually check myself or send it to you. I will have to ask my better half if he knows how to do this. I will get back to you. Thank you for your trouble.

Have a nice weekend, Taetske

Hi Taetske,
You could read the discussion thread and use the site: domain to check.

what index in google means

in short in means whether Google knows your page exists or not.

I think so

Hi Gautam,

I was interested in getting the rest of my pages indexed on Google? Really hoping to get them on there soon so if you could help that would be awesome!

The pages I currently need indexing are;

https://anxietyreliefs.com/how-to-stop-anxiety-attacks-top-5-videos

https://anxietyreliefs.com/anxiety-relief-methods

https://anxietyreliefs.com/help-anxiety-in-children

https://anxietyreliefs.com/anxiety-and-phobia-workbook-6th-edition

https://anxietyreliefs.com/physical-symptoms-of-anxiety

https://anxietyreliefs.com/dog-anxiety-symptoms

Thanks in advance!

Great! I will check them all and let you know. :)

Well, I will have to check first. :) My tools are super accurate -never let me down.

Very strange! Not quite sure why that is. Can you think of why they would not be found?

Thanks for doing the other pages!

I can confirm it is accurate and you get them indexed, which would be good for your website.

Good luck!

Often they use a links indexer to index backlinks. But you try this with your site:

What do you consider a decent income per subscriber in an email list?

the average value of each member of your email list, if you send to them properly, with appropriate content, at a decent interval, it has almost always been about $1.00 per month.

I also thought so. But now rethinking as I see some claiming as high as $10 at the lower end!

It depends on how you treat your email recipients and the price point of affiliate products. I certainly would NOT use that figure as a budgeting one, until you see how you handle your relationship building.

True that. :) The claims the marketers are making is based on segmenting the audience and then building the relationship...

The industry average is $1 per subscriber per month. My real world experience has been about $0.50 per subscriber per month. It has never been lower then that and at times is much higher. This is on an email list and if you are building them right it is a pretty stable pay the bills and more income.

If it the list is connected to a membership site. If that is where the sign ups come from. The average is $0.25 per member. You know the ones where you join a membership site and they put you on a mailing list.

On a very select list with active subscribers I can get the $1 or above but not on the normal signup from a squeeze page list.

Those are my figures for years and hasn't changed much.

I bet only the best marketers achieve $1 and the geniuses get to $3.
You are doing great! I am just a bit surprised with some tall claims of as high as $30, and that's coming from respectable marketers. I just can't believe!

Thank you very much for sharing your journey. :)

It would have to be a very small list that they know if they send something out they will buy it. I can't believe that. It has to be something special on my list to break over $1 but that is with about 20,000 people on this list. If the list is big enough even $0.25 is good enough monthly income

I was told each subscriber is worth $1 per month

I also thought the same, and it was the feedback I got from experienced marketers. Also, something like $1 is if you are doing very well and $3 if you are a genius.

I stumbled upon startling facts, which made me ask this question.

Thank you very much for your response.

It's getting the subscribers that I find difficult in my niche.

You could focus on traffic first and then take the next few steps.

Yes that's what I am doing.

Cheers.

I don't know exactly but I would venture about $3000 per month

How many subscribers would you aim to make that amount if you are taking the email marketing route?

I don't know the answer to that question. Does anyone have any idea? Thanks in advance

No worries. Thanks for taking the pain to answer.

Why don't universities have degrees for SEO? I have noticed, it isn't taught anywhere, even in computer science degree. They just touch on a few points in online marketing clas

you are right Hope you get what you wished for

Cheers.

I agree with Marion. I'll add that to be a university degree, the qualification must be recognized by the specific industry as a common professional standard - In this case by Google and other search engines.

Most SEO practices these days focus on influencing search rankings, even if the site has lower quality content than a non-optimized site. I don't see search engines recognizing such degrees any time soon. ~Jude

That's true and thanks for sharing. But well, Microsoft and others do endorse courses. Both Google and Facebook have free courses too with certification.

Cheers.

That's so.

Digital and Social Media degrees are offered at colleges and universities. Maybe SEO will eventually follow suit or at least become more available in the curriculum. ~Jude

A good question indeed.

My answer reflects my own opinion, the way I see it.

I guess it's never taught because it's a newly discovered secret. Also, there is a mystery still surrounding the subject. Not all tools to use have been revealed and people continue to learn and unearth more.

Also, the world of computers is not static either. Changes means changes to information we have at the moment about SEO .

True - SEO is every changing, so is the medical science!
I am still not sure, why it is a dark area even the potential is enormous.

SEO training is treated more like a technician - plumber or electrician training.

Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts!

SEO changes so frequently that anything you learned last year may be obsolete this year.

Yes, but they could address that if they have the will.
Thanks for your sharing your insight. :)

You should check out edx.org for free & paid SPOCS and MOOCS if certification, especially Ivy League is what you're after :)

Thank you for sharing the link. :) I am checking it now.

But well, on a personal level I am not after anything as I know the path I am traveling.
It came to my mind and thought would spark an interesting discussion.

I guess the link you shared now is similar to Coursera.

It's definitely an interesting question and I agree with @beauandnik, in that the courses/info would become outdated in a 4 year degree program. I think that's why there's a growing interest in professional digital marketing certificate programs.

Then again professional online certificates could be scammy too! But it is interesting because they are far less expensive than university courses in the West(In India, where I am at the moment, they are dirt cheap and filthy poor quality. :) )

So, the risk in a potential online scam is far less than a university SEO degree which could be as worthless as a scam after a few years when the course over!

I think the key is researching the university that's offering their program on the edx.org platform. Many of the universities are reputable, ivy league including Harvard & Wharton.

That's true. I think as I said Coursera is a similar platform. But well, these platforms charge a hell of money and a proper online course could pay back well. Say, for instance, Udemy at $10. ;) Getting back $200 after spending $10 would be far more satisfying than getting $1000 after spending $10,000!

I think that higher education should map to the practical job market more than teaching "esoteric intellectual" subjects!

Haha, yes. But yes, some do. And we cannot forget "esoteric intellectual" subjects either. Also, you find many graduating in Mathematics and doing well as computer programmers.

Would it surprise you medical schools don't teach doctors nutrition either? :D

True. :)
Thanks for your sharing your insights!

But it gets interesting because a person who knows their SEO stuff well can make a hell of money and reputation compared to Ph.D. computer engineers. It may not hold as true for a nutritionist vs. a doctor.

well if doctors knew nutrition then most illness would be cured or prevented, but then the biggest industry in the world would suffer, big pharma

with SEO there probably isn't quite the same correlation, or is it? There is a local SEO company to me profiting on making websites for local business but ironically provides no SEO service, they do minimum work and get maximum yield - the majority of websites I know fall into the category of having paid huge money for 'nothing' and our government gives grants of around 3000 euros for new business starting off to get a website - so there is actually a system in place where a lot of people are making money and no one knows any better

I guess it comes down to 'not rocking the boat' as those driving the boat are happy?

Great insights! Thank you. Most SEO companies are CRAP. But well, again if you are doing well there, you are a SUPERHERO.

The clients to these companies want everything at one place. Say, for instance, web design, writing, hosting, etc.
So, a web design company or a writing company would also try to sell other things to make themselves a complete solution. But again, most clients would prefer an SEO company who sells other services because they are the ones who would play the 'match winner' - TRAFFIC.

My local farmer's market, for example [and you could include nearly all the regular small shops in the town] would not know about SEO, they just think they need a website, and you're right they want a one stop shop, so 'City SEO' [not real name] headed down to the market and scoured the town and fed on them all like a parasite and even left them unable to make the slightest change to their website such as upgrading a post or product, while charging them a lot of money for the privilege! I told one business owner he'd do better with WA but he showed it to 'the professional' who felt quite threatened by WA, that guy ended up buying a fancy looking website [to the untrained eye] but he's impossible to find in google! :)

There are very few SEOs who know their stuff. The pace is too much as something one learns today could just get outdated tomorrow with a new Google update. So, the same person who helped to get a ton of money yesterday could just harm you the next day!

Wealthy Affiliate is great in the sense that there's clarity in the basic stuff. So, as long as one is doing it right you will have a presence in Google. The owners have just excluded stuff that could potentially confuse or harm members in the long run.

Cheers.

They do offer courses but what you get taught in these high priced learning centers is generally outdated before you graduate lol.

I bet. :)

I have books stacked up on my desk, all last year's publications. They are as good as old newspapers!

LOL, they should and a whole lot more relevant to this day and time.

Seems like they should! I am surprised they don't. Not even Computer Science specialized schools?

I think @BeauAndNik has made an interesting point. :)

Cheers.

Cheers.
