About Laparra1
Joined January 2017
Hi, I am Dutch and have lived in the south of Spain for many years.
I am creative, love animals and nature and, at the age of 67, as I have time on my hands, I thought it a good thing to start something new in my life.
I will do my best and anticipate being successful in Wealthy Affiliate.

I have put a new photo of myself.
This cat comes from the US, I did a 3 weeks trip in 2016 and found it in Leavenworth/Washington

After being here for more than 6 months I would like to add a little piece to my profile.

I chose the name La Parra for a reason. In 1981 I bought a, at that time 150-year-old ruin, like a farm house. Infront of it was growing a very old Parra=grapevine, I guess it was at least some 100 years old.
15 Years ago, seeing the old Parra was getting weaker, I planted many new ones. To get grapes is nice, normally the birds are there before me, but it gives shade on the south side. Now the old Parra has died but the new ones are doing well so having shade in the hot summer is now guaranteed.
I have also named my house La Parra.

With best wishes for all of you. Regards Taetske

Thank you for your message, not often people contact like that. With time I have become a bit particular with the following part of WA, perhaps you care to read my post about to Follow. I only write 1 post a month so I will not be a bother I hope.

Hi Taetske,
It's lovely to meet you. I "found you" from a response to someone's post about leaving comments and site feedback that you left which took me to your post about leaving comments.
I love grapes too - when I was growing up we had a Parra at the back of our yard which yielded very tasty black grapes which we also shared with the birds :)
Later I lived in Cape Town which is very close to the vineyards around Stellenbosch ... I guess I developed a taste for grapes in a different form ... aka "a good red" haha
Anyway, I'd love to follow and learn from you as well as share in your [anticipated] success which I share with you.
Best wishes for your success
Take care

Good afternoon Gary,

Now that is a nice way to be found I must say. Very few people take the trouble to write something, normally it is just clicking the Follow button. I have stopped doing that because to me the word to follow means a lot more. I wrote a post about that about 1 month ago.

I also love grapes but as I live in Spain I like to have a glass of red wine every evening, I call it a nice medicine.

Thank you for your good wishes, I tell you it is work but also interesting and fun.

Hello Taetske,

I just love your name. Of course how I'd be pronouncing it may not be as your parents had intended, but I do love it :)

I lived in Ireland for a little while and remember seeing many of the Irish names there. Not in a million years would I pronounce them correctly by looking at them but I just love them. Here are a couple of examples

Cearbhall - pronounced Car-ool
Niamh - pronounced Neev
Maebh - pronounced Mave (like wave)

Beautiful! I think if I had had a daughter while living there, she would have had a name like that. Definitely an Irish name.

As for the medicine, you're taking, I'm on the same prescription ... well, my prescription says to take it Friday evening, Saturday evening and Sunday evening haha Yes, I love my red wine.

I did a Med boat cruise back in 2007 I think it was, and two of the stops we had were Malaga and then Cadiz. Malaga was beautiful although I have to say, we did a tour up to Mijas which I fell in love with. It is SO beautiful there. Malaga was interesting from a Picasso perspective. Very festive and colorful - it was also close to Christmas, so all the street decorations etc. were out too.

Then Cadiz, aside from imagining Halley Berry walking out the water in the James Bond movie which was shot there, we did a trip to one of the farms where they make Sherry so we were sampling Sherry at about 10:00 in the morning - great way to start the day :) Also a lovely little town. You live in a beautiful part of the world!

Well, Taetske, once again, it's lovely to meet you. If you do ever get back to Australia, please do feel free to look us up. You're always welcome.

Best wishes

Thank you, Gary, for your nice and long message.

As I was the first grandchild to my Mother's parents I got that Friesian name, Friesland is the most Nordic province in Holland. They have their own recognized language it is not a dialect. My Grandfather and his Grandmother had this name as you see one can use it for boys or girls.
There seem to be some 50 variations on it.
You did not tell me what part of Australia you live.
I live between Malaga and Torremolinos about 8km inland. My village of around 42.000 is called Alhaurin de la Torre and has Arabic roots. The village is ideally located with good connections to the coast, airport etc.I live 11/2 km away from the center.
My parents came to visit me in 1976 during the Christmas season as I was working as a tourist guide for a German company.
On the 26/12 they went up to Mijas and the weather was so clear we could see the Maroccon coast opposite us.

I say nice to meet you too and we will be in contact.

Hi Taetske,

I just read your "To Follow or not..." blog :) Well, I don't follow people without first getting to know them a little from what they are willing to share in their profile. So, obviously I came here to read yours. However, if people in my network become inactive, I don't un-follow them. The silent presence of their smiley faces doesn't bother me, and they may (and some do) return to WA at some point.

It's nice to e-meet you! Your La Parra story is beautiful. And, on both photos you look very fit, pretty and much younger than you say you are. I would check out your website, but you are not sharing the links...

I see that your WA rank is very high (good job!), and I hope that you are being successful in your online business. Good luck to you!

Oh, today I see your links. I swear there was no "Follow [me] on" header on my screen when I was writing my message to you last night. But, I was writing it before I actually clicked "follow" button. I wonder if this makes a difference...

I wasn't sure whether you would mind my comment on your look and age, but decided to go for it anyway. Now, that I can see your websites, I understand that aging, health and beauty are the areas of your expertise. So, I guess my comment came right into a bullseye. :) Love to gemstones happened to be our common interest.

Both of your websites look awesome. I've noticed couple small things in a content of an article I read... The best way to comment on them is probably through the SiteFeedback channel, but I didn't find a way to select a specific site there. Therefore, I'll just message to you privately.

You did a great job answering to all the comments you received on your blog! It would take me at least a week to reply to everyone...

I hope you had a wonderful day at the butterfly park.

Yes, one has to first follow to then be able to see the websites at the bottom of the profile page. No problem with your comment, I am known for being very straightforward. Hi Teatske!
I stumbled over your page. WA member Dave advised me to connect my site to my WA about page: He wrote: " there should be a link at the bottom of your profile page to add you sites and social media sites" which I followed up. It has more impact and works for other members (as well as yourself) just by clicking on it.
It is on the right side of the screen.

Taetske, I was just reading the comments on Loes' Portugal bush fire post. I am going to comment on your comment so came here to read about you.

Now with your websites you can put the links right here on this page. Just go to the bottom right and do this under the 'Follow me on' button. That way your links are here and people can just click on the link and visit your sites.

You can add your social media links too.

Now I will keep in touch.

Good morning Helen,

When I heard that one has to put one's websites I added them to my profile only finding out that one has it below one's posts, I did not take it away from my profile as a lot of people do not know about the other place.
I am not into any social media, I do not know if I will ever make it as I am more than busy with the rest, but if I make that step it will probably be Google+
I tried to find your websites but only saw the training. As I am not a computer/internet person at all, I would not be surprised if I do something wrong.

Have a good week, Taetske

Yes, my name is Fries. I was the first grandchild of my Mother's parents. My grandfather and his grandmother had the same name, a, so called, family name. As I was born in Australia I got this name of course. At the age of 3, my parents took me back to Europe and I spent my youth in Holland. At the age of 15, I left to learn languages in other countries and never lived in Holland anymore. I have lived the biggest part of my life in warm climates and to tell you the truth I would not be happy otherwise. When needed I for sure will visit your treasure trove, I am quite hopeless with all the technical stuff but love the making of websites, let's call it the creative side of it all.

Thank you for your message yesterday, I have Michael who is helping me with the photo as background for my first website. You see I have it all in my head but need help to put it on a computer. Anyhow we are slowly advancing. I will have to write different stories which then include the links, some that I want to included have affiliate prog., saw that on Google, so that is good. The lesson yesterday where you go into your backoffice of your site got me somehow confused, I think with clicking and practicing it will become familiar. Same as when I started with a computer, it took me awhile to master the mouse so to speak. I only have 3 days left to be able to talk to you, as all this is already slightly overwelhming I donot think to go Premium yet as I first have to master the basics. I have 49 followers, thats nice but only the people who write a small message I will answer as now I have to concentrate on the lessons.

As there is no wind we will be sitting in the patio at 13.30, get some sunshine for the vit D and in the mean time eat our eco. oranges, I have some 100 trees.
Yesterday we improved our learning system.
I had the lesson going on my small computer and next to me was Michael with the big computer doing the steps in real. Doing it and not only listening to the indications improves understanding a lot.
Michael said he now thinks about signing up also. He has been a
Environmental ingeneer in the US so his websites would go in that direction.
Today we will do lesson 7.
( I have good friends in Canada, they are Danish, I met Rolf in 1968 in the French language school near Paris, we always kept contact. They will be visiting the south of Portugal this March so we will have a 1 week holiday there to see them )

I am so happy you made the decision to take advantage of this opportunity. If you are determined and can stick with your training here at WA it can open the door to an exciting and rewarding future as it has for me. This is where your online business is going to be realized. Here's the course that started me down the road to an unbelievable lifestyle and one that is now within your reach. From this point on you will have not only my support in person but the ability to ask any questions of the community here at Wealthy Affiliate.

Without wasting too much time you can now access the Online Entrepreneur level 1 online course found in the main menu by clicking the green "Get Started Here" button.

Here's the link to lesson 1: This is the course that I started with and lead me to my first sale online!

If you are willing to put in an honest effort and take the bull by the horns I will personally help you through the course or with any questions or concerns you may have in your quest to make your online business a reality.

I can be reached through my personal profile at any time when you have any questions...trust me, you will!

Oh! Lesson 3 "Finding A Niche" for many is the most challenging to get through without pulling out your hair and the occasional temper tantrum so I have created some extra material that I feel will be of huge benefit to you while working through this lesson, let me know when you are there and I will give you if you upon request.

Don't forget to create your personal profile by adding an image and a few words about yourself! You will find many WA members come offering their help and asking you to follow them which is a great resource for you to have access too, many members here have a wealth of knowledge that you can tap into.

Just a quick heads up! You can just do the course and that's it or you can take advantage of a discount on a premium membership here at WA. There is absolutely no pressure to change your status, but if you decide to become a Premium member and unlock absolutely everything Wealthy Affiliate has to offer and do so before your 7 day course is over you will qualify for a 50% discount on the first month of your membership.

I look forward to getting to know you and being able to help out when you have questions.

Cheers, Mike

Thank you for your prompt answer Mike. It is only since end 2013 that I have a computer and I have limited myself to photos and emails and also folllowing some Master classes or Summits on subectsI am intrested in. Before Christmas I came upon Mark Ling and followed some things online but it went very fast and I would be lost half way, still, I came out with understanding the concept but not really how to do it. I compared ML to WA and opted to give it a try, it will go slowly as I first have to understand all the things I see on my screen and also understand what happens when I click here or there. I belong, as I always say, to the handwritten letter generation so computers and fam. are " strange " to me.

Regards Taetske
