Hello Bo ... thank you for the follow. I too come from before computers and cell phones. In college I was one of those engineering student geeks that carried around their K&E slide rule every where they went.

Long career in high tech manufacturing exposed me to PCs of course, but I spent most of my time using Manufacturing Control software packages. Spent very little time on the internet.

So yea ... I was a digital newbie so to speak when I started here at WA. Your story is very encouraging. I enjoy your posts.

So did you use a pocket protector back then. Most people on here won't remember what that was. I know my dad worked in an office and he always used one. I bet you remember the calculators with a lever on them also. Glad to follow you and look forward to talking with you more.

Your kiddin' they actually raced on that track.Must be bloody good sand or my eyes are shot. Looked like mud to me.I think if I took a running jump and dived I might have slid around the track and got 4th. Anyway the favourite won (good swimmer) which is good for the organisers - due to racing on that surface.
Reply
botipton Premium
No sand on that track it was packed clay. What you saw was the way it actually was. The funny part was at the end his the winnings jocky's buddy came up to congratulate him on the way to the winners circle. The guy who one was nice and clean.
he one who congratulated him was covered in mud from running back in the pack.

Moral of the story is if you want to stay clean you better lead the pack. LOL
Reply
BradBurns Premium
Yes jockeys here in Australia have the same problem on heavy tracks. If they are running in behind horses all the mud kicks up in their eyes or on the goggles and they continually wipe it from their goggles so they can see. If a horse is out in front and dictates the pace on a heavy track it is hard for others to pick up their feet and accelerate quickly.

And the guys in the back find out what covered in mud actually means.

Hi botipton,

I have a question. I can't use Grammerly because it's not iPad friendly: mobile friendly. I found a plug in Word Press called Pro Writing Aid. It tells me that it has not been tested with the current version that I'm using in Word Press. Last updated version was five years ago. Is it safe to download it?

Above this warning, someone left a comment saying they are enjoying the version, but still I'm not convinced! They are from some editorial type of institution, actually a blogger posting from Twitter. Becky
Reply

Would I download that has not been updated in five years. No.

Grammarly is compatible with iPad you just have to download the native app to use it on IPad according to Grammarly. You can find out how on the Grammarly site. Go to the help section and type in Apple in the search box.

Big race meet 14 races. Our big meetings are 10 races.
Just been looking up form and some trackwork. It appears Hence has been working well in trackwork and is nice and relaxed and won on a wet track. Not sure how wet the track is? If heavy then it could make it like a 1 1/2 mile race. That Drape fellow is tipping Tapwrit and Irish War Cry. Good luck and I am going to have a small bet on the 8.
And amazing Secretariat still holds the record since 1973 @ 1.59.24

Protect that valuable bee hive - 50 years bloody amazing.
How is the tree?
On another note, seeing it is close to Kentucky Derby time, next Saturday, I looked up a map of Kentucky and guessing you live in one of these areas (approx 1 hour out of Louisville) Either Oldham, Shelby, Spencer, Anderson, Washington, Nelson, Hardin or Meade?
How did I go close? Or perhaps the dark horse could be across the river into Indiana?
Reply
botipton Premium
You were close we live in Boyle county. We lived in Hardin county for years but just moved to Boyle county in December to be closer to kids and grandkids. The closest town to us is Perryville one of the sites of a big Civil War Battle.
Reply
botipton Premium
The bee tree is documented being here 50 years but not sure how long it has been here. It sits about 20 feet outside my office window. This house was built in the 1850s so no telling exactly how long the bees have been here. It is a huge tree with a hollow center. Still alive and doing fairly well for it's age but full of honey.
Reply
BradBurns Premium
Keep it a secret.
Trust me.
If it was here in OZ it would be raided by thieves.
Good Honey is going up in price. There is a lot of cheap syrups on the market posing as honey - HR corn syrups and glucose.

I will have to look up Perryville.

Last week I watched a 3 part series with Kevin Costner "The Hatfields and the McCoys". I believe the feud took place just after the civil war. Great series and what I read it wasn't far from the truth?
Reply
botipton Premium
Yep it is one of the most famous feuds here in the States. It happened up in the hills southeast of where I am.

Yes honey here is the same thing. Good honey is going up in price and junk is being sold as honey.

TOOK THE WORDS RIGHT OUT OF MY MOUTH.
I think my father bought a black and white TV when I was 6 and we thought that was technology. Years later colour TV. We thought that was the end to the expansion of technology.
I think we were called cave people or that's what my 21 year old daughter calls me.

LOL I had one of my grandchildren ask me if I was born before they invented cars. I remember that I was 13 the first time I watched TV in my home and it was a black and white TV.

We have a couple of bee hives out in the backyard that keeps us supplied in honey and a honey tree on the place that I am still trying to figure out how to raid without harming the tree. It has had bees in it for over 50 years.

Hope to talk more.

I am involved with a Master Beekeeper here in Australia.

So many packers mixing Chinese syrups with a bit of Ozzy stuff.

He is the only one I trust and have done for 7 years.

I want to get some hives in the Upper tablelands 3 hours South West of Sydney and get some Blackgum. Waste of time putting up hives in city areas like they do on top of buildings - Pollution Pollen.

We currently get various eucalyptus varieties (ironbarks and stringybarks), white bloodwood (although its brown), and manuka
of course all in season and hopefully producing nectar.

My mate just had 52 jumbo hives knocked off out of remote bushland. Some person(s) knew what they were doing.
About $35K worth of bees and hives.

I really appreciate hearing (reading) your story. I too have been a gypsy and done many and varied things to earn a buck. Right now I'm driving a courier route, putting 236 miles a day on my Prius. As you can guess, Social Security isn't cutting it. I'm doing this to build an income stream so I can get off the road.
Are you doing only Affiliate marketing? or do you have something like a drop shipping or wholesale site as well.
Like you, I didn't grow up with a keyboard in my hands so learning is slower. However, I love to learn and think it's the only way to avoid brain decay, so I don't mind setting myself up to do this type of work for the duration. Hope the hear from you soon. Cheers

Mostly I do Network/Affiliate Marketing in different aspects but I do own a few membership sites that do fairly well. We have one site where we sell my wives work who is a beautiful artist. That is the only one that sells a physical have to ship product. I have also sold off and on Ebay for the last 13 years.

Social Security is a joke (my opinion) but there are things you can do to make more than running your courier route will pay you. PM me something if you want to talk about it.

As people learn about hosting a site and how much it cost for a good host we realize how good the hosting is here for the price. Incredible resource

Hello, Botipton, It's nice to meet you.

Thanks for following me. I appreciate it and have returned the favor.

I looks like both you and i had a mixed and varied history. I've worked a number of different jobs from Jet Propulsion Laboratories (don't be impressed, I was a janitor - though I did get to meet some really interesting scientists), to an accountant for a now extinct savings and loan, a salesman for a number of different products from fire alarms to vacuum cleaners to Cutco knives to Fuller Brush. I've been a Computer Programmer/systems analyst, and a youth pastor. Now I'm retired and attempting to build an online business to supplement my retirement income and because I'm interested in online marketing.

Like you, I'm also wanting to help business owners/entrepreneur to build successful systems they can implement into their businesses to help free up their time and help them begin to work *on* their businesses rather than slaving away working *in* their businesses.

Anyway, nice to meet you and I wish you all the best in your online pursuits.

Going back to college is fun, interesting, challenging and so much more. I was 49 when I went back and loved watching people in a way I couldn't when I was younger. I also know my hunger for learning was different than when I was younger. One of the best things I ever did.

I look forward to reading about your journey in college.

Enjoy the ride.

Thank you Bo. So great to hear that you got the most out of college, more than most.. It's all in the experience. When you can enjoy the point A to point B, which I have learned to do, that's what life is all about... and when it truly becomes the most rewarding. And you have done just that. Have a happy Tuesday.

Hi and thanks for following me. You have done so many things in your life and it seems so exciting. The rodeo clown sounds the most fun but also the most dangerous. I have only been with WA a month and I'm finding out all the learning it has to offer.
You have a great evening.

Hey Bo, we share an extensive diversified background and now find a stay @ home career that can benefit our friends and associates more than we were able to before.
I'll look to you for assistance by reading your posts and giving you a shout out now and then as I push thru Bootcamp.
I like your green fedora and your apparent strength to hold up that pine tree. All the best ahead...

Ahh you noticed that I wan holding the tree up. Good not many do.

Any way I can help feel free to PM me. It is a good journey going through the training. What Kyle and Carson teach here I know for a fact works and is some of the best training out there.

I look forward to hearing of your accomplishments.

Hi Bo (again)!
I had a look at your website Acorn Haven! I know that Acorn is a Native American plant and used for food. Love your recipes there! :)
You can be very proud of your Choctaw Heritage! And I appreciate that you teach others about the Native American culture... Love it...
Just wanted to mention it!
Have a great day!

You don't know me for naught, and you may scratch your head at first to why I would come on here and put a lengthy writing on your WA Space, yours of all the rest, but I have my reasons and I have my goals. Please bear with me as I have read your biographic and and found you quite worthy as any of the successful ones on here. Be warned, this is perhaps on the wordy side.

I un-followed you, but I stopped dead. There was something about you that made me undo what I did. Unusual thing to be doing on what seems a random move as such, here it is. I restored my following you when I noted your latest blog and that I had read it when you first published it. From it I know you are not just the run-of-the-mill sort of individual.

I have been here over seven years now. I have read over your blogs. Some of what you said apply to me and others not so much, but I've enjoyed all of them and archived them for my personal Journal. I have written in this Journal since 1973 and none of it has ever been made public, so there is no need to worry about what happens to your content here.

Your place on my buddy list, ranking 666 at the time of this writing, and the very last one to date of whom I've followed, marks the end of my following thereof.

I don't know you at all except through what you've written. I don't even know your first name, except I assume, "Bo." I assume this is a nickname or pen name. At this point I'm shaking your hand in greeting.

I am Daniel. Euergetes is my pen name, but Daniel is my first name. I hate my surname and don't use it except for legal purposes. That is a long story. I have social retardation and therefore handicaps in the social realm. It hurts business and I don't have the charisma it takes to make it big, but I have not given up, since I feel these issues can be overcome with the right resources and even lunaticks have succeeded. So, I'm still here.

Here's my story...

Something about you stopped me dead, and I had to look over your stuff. You are a prime candidate for someone I would keep on my buddy list, from whom I can gain insight. It's why I am writing this.

According to some on here, I have very little to offer and am one to have plastered my WA Space with mostly junk. I would have never wanted to think of it this way, since I have always tried to write stuff on here that would be useful to others. But I have run my course and beyond. Many say my writing is fantastic, but somehow, it falls through the cracks here at WA. I've been known to be libelous, racist, trivial, pontificate, know-it-all, having a type-3 personality, sensitive, negative, rude, offensive, noxious, and this list goes on. Most of this derives from misunderstanding, some from the fact that I probably have Asperger's Syndrome and have had lots of problems with life. Trying to be somebody on here sticks out like a sore thumb and it spurs distrust and what my intent and motives behind my writing would be. To some, it was to rank.

To me, it was trying to open up. That didn't go over very well. I had no family growing up, but I do now, my church family, and have learned many things I should have been taught when I was very young.

I'm a good guy overall, or I try to be. I stay away from drugs and alcohol, don't smoke, though I do like to eat too much. I've lived in the woods throughout much of the 1980s in semi isolation, but became a member of the church of Christ, where my deliverance began. I read non-fiction and watch educational stuff. You will never find me around the stupid stuff, like South Park, stand-up comedy and other junk like this. I am not into jokes and rarely understand them. I have watched very little television and is still this way to this time.

My age of writing on WA has come to an end. I verily hope you don't fall into the same trap many have on this awesome place, and that is, vast quantities of blogs and the drive to rank, rank, rank on here. Don't get me wrong here. Some people NEED to blog on here. It's valid stuff. Look at Nathaniell's blogs, magistudios, Kyle, Carson, and several others. Nathaniell's blogs take you from a time when he knew not a thing to the six-figure status he has now. They have proven to me their worthiness to write regularly on WA. They have the online income derived from what they've learnt on here to show for it. There are some Ambassadors that don't!

To date, I have written between 600 and 700 blogs on here. Coming down to where the rubber meets the road, in just a short time, I'm a nobody on here and very few know me now. I know it, and I admit it. We need good writers on here who stay on-topic and not the "How to Make Black Bean Soup"-type stuff.

I have removed many, many of my blogs. Some were negative due to circumstances under which I have been trying to work my business, and got discouraged and downtrodden. Others do indirectly concern business, but is the kind of stuff every man and his brother has written on here "Distraction" is one of these. When I have finished purging, only the very very very best will remain, the best 25 or so. That's about three blogs per year, give or take on the distribution of these.

My failure in the content-publishing end of WA stems back to my difficulty with social circumstances. I accept that and am willingly going out being visible to the public on here, since it seems to be for the best for myself and everybody else.

I do fairly well publishing reviews on my campaign. This seems to be a little different but it could be better in and of itself.

I really wish I had used much of this time, energy and writing on my campaigns instead. To some people on here, I'm now a foe. To most, I'm simply unknown. I once spent almost all my time on here.

Today I am removing my content for a number of reasons, some not good. Wealthy Affiliate is an awesome place, but it can be misused. It can be a time-sap. It can be the difference between success and well, nothing. It came from not pitching the second tent you spoke of. The large tent I pitched began with the pegs, each of which was a blog on here. It took many years to set this tent up, larger than any circus tent ever pitched. But I pitched it.

I am now breaking that camp. I am pushing out everything that will not help with my success. I have little value on WA as a helper nor has my content stood the test of time save maybe five or so pieces. These I will leave. Those people whom I see truly contribute to the success to others, I will continue to follow. The rest are gone.

Maybe in the future I will once again, write content on WA, but not until I have the full-time online income to show for what I've learnt on here.

I have never quit, though I've come close. I have read your blog, 7 Reasons People Quit Wealthy Affiliate. I've held out here.

Are Goals Important? You bet! Without Goals, you stand no chance of succeeding. Knowing this all-important step, I have stumbled many, many times.

I have already discussed being persistTENT and consisTENT.

The blog, your very first blog applies to me. I am one who has gone in every direction except the right way. Writing all those blogs stood as a monument of folly, which I am now pulling down from its pedestal, as did those of ancient times the statue of Nero, and of recent, that of Saddam Hussein.

My final year at WA is going to be just that if I don't get my act together. What may seem futile is something I feel I need to do - and that is, purge my WA Space, stop writing on here, get rid of all the distractions around me and get busy. If I find I'm still where I am now when my current subscription ends in 51 weeks, I will close the curtain on my act.

The beginning bookend of my Wealthy Affiliate experience was Jay (magistudios.)

The final bookend is you.

The library in between will be purged, and has been in progress already. I've pulled a lot of books and committed them to the flames. To get the most out of this library means bringing it down to the length of one bookshelf, even down to the few on my desktop between those bookends.

Don't fall into the trap many do on here. So far, I can see you are not. Those with blogs like, "Things Men Say that Get on Women's Nerves," isn't exactly the kind of stuff I want in my library.

I am happy to have come into your WA Space. I hope your writing will continue to be like that of what you find in the most successful on here. I need it.

I am pleased to read what you wrote on here. Hearing of someone's journey will always touch on points in our lives and if we truly listen benefit the storyteller and the one listening.

I am honored by what you said but know that was not your reason for writing it. That you were speaking from your heart and I appreciate that.

From reading what you said in my viewpoint all I see you are doing is letting go of what does not serve you and moving toward what you want in life. That is never a bad thing.

I have a young woman in my life who is like an adopted daughter to me who faces many of the same issues that you do. She has learned what she is good at, what she wants to do and what she doesn't want to do. Understanding that and working with that she has built a very successful business here on the Internet after she was told it would not work for her.

Daniel when we speak things that bother us or that we like on the spiritual path I follow it is called putting them on the wind. That always brings great healing to us when we let them go, when we speak them. Often times others do not understand it or appreciate it but it still brings us healing. It takes courage to put things on the wind when others may not like or appreciate it but from what you say of your writing that is what you have been doing. Keep at it. It is called walking your own path in my world and is a good thing.

No, my writing will not change it will stay the same. I have a great love to help people who are struggling to turn their life around. I have been so broke that I could not eat and never want others to go through that. Now that I learned how to not be in that place of being broke and that there is no reason to if people will take action with the right mindset I have the drive to help others.

I am 65 years old and as I draw close to ending my journey in this lifetime it is important to share with others what I have learned. That is where my writing comes from and will come from.

I wish you well on this journey of discovery you are on of waking up and allowing the real Daniel to be Daniel. I would love to talk to you more.

One last thing with the way you see things I encourage you to do reviews. I believe you would give a unique honest perspective to them and would be successful at it.

So the end of my long answer and I honestly do hope to talk with you more.

Hey Botipton,
Thanks for the follow. I myself went back to school at 48 and obtained a associates and bacherlors degree. Who say that you can never teach an old dog new tricks (a figure of speech). You are a man with a lot of wisdom. I know you have some interesting stories to tell.

Nice to meet you. This old dog is still learning new tricks. I have a question for you. Are you using the degree in what you do now?
By the time I graduated in 2001 I was already marketing online. I taught at the same University for a couple of years and then went full-time on the Internet and haven't used the degrees that I earned. It was a lot of fun and I thoroughly enjoyed it but haven't used it.

Hi again Bo it’s a good idea (only if you want to) to click the 'Like' icon within a comment if you like it as I have done with yours.
Obviously you don't have to click every single comment or you will be here all day doing nothing but.
But to click the ones you like that are replies to your own comments will be reflected in your WA ranking because it shows you are getting involved with the community.
Enjoy your day.

Hello Bo,♫Welcome! Nice to meet you ツ I wish you a lot of learning pleasure and fun on WA. Thank you for adding me to your network.

From the start, I have written training for every issue I had problems with myself. I made an addition for After The Walkthrough. Also a list of 1001 niche ideas, a checklist with 25 points to go through before you publish a post, 101 blogging ideas when you get stuck and an A-Z WA dictionary. I just love lists:) It has been very helpful to a lot of people. I have listed them in one blog you can find on my profile. It's the first website link right under “Follow me on” (click on my picture to get there). I hope to help you with those.

If you have any questions, please reply to this message or leave a comment on my profile.

Thank You Botipton. I really needed to see the post you put on "You better get contol of this". I have been a worker all my life so this internet business is new for me and the distractions are numerous with exactly what you shared. I have been either busy making no money or busy getting nothing toward my goal of making more $$$$$. I'm considering printing it and post it around my house.
