About Botipton
Joined July 2015
I have been a Rodeo Clown, Deputy Sheriff, Newspaper Editor, Business Owner, Truck Driver, Part-time College Professor, published Poet, author, News Paper Editor Full-Time Internet Marketer and much more.

I have always had a interest in learning and doing something new. My life has never been boring. I love learning so much that at the age of 49 I went back to college.

Here is the secret to being able to do some much in your life time. Live a lot of years.

The things I have done has given me the ability to write about diverse subjects. My writing is always sprinkled with a unique point of view and humor.

I am from the time before Computers and Cell phones and have learned how to use this wonderful tool so I do not have to leave the house for a Job . I spend my time working with people who are new to the Internet to help them realize the freedom of working from home.

You can never learn to much and that is why I am here. Wealthy affiliate is a wealth of knowledge that works. I came to Wealthy Affiliate in 2015 and did not pay a lot of attention to it at the time. Now I am an active WA affiliate because of the proven way it helps people.

Thanks for adding me to your network Bo! Once I get through these first 10 lessons and have my sites content "mostly" organized, or at least published in, I have a list I've made of blogs I want to read. Your's are now on that list. Thanks for reaching out and I'll be seeing you around the WA community!

What a profile !! it's like someone's life switching from the old tele-com connection to "fibre optics" :) The world is full of interesting places and people living there and we have the Internet to connect us together. We can improve our own lives and hopefully others around the world. Admittedly, theres the Good the Bad and the Ugly but we can't all be perfect :). Like you Bo I go back before the "chip", almost before the telephone (but not quite). I appreciate your input which helps people like myself over some of the hurdles we meet, in building up our Internet Skills.

I was born in the Year of Sputnik, and so share your time and stories of people, some places, and life. This is now my third career and to say I have to keep learning is British understatement. Not sure what your age is, but I'm guessing we are close to the same age..........maybe not. But I think like you in similar ways.

Hi, botipton, i have a little blog that I want to write and send out to at least WA's for now . this will be my first foray into this type of public communication but my questions actually pertain to another area of your expertise. I was wondering if you you could help as I know these haven't been dealt with in the training thusfar. First) can what we write in the content editor and published be saved and used again in another context or must we start over? Second )How do I get it out to all WA's and can it still be saved?Third ) Which platform do you recommend for which platform? Thank you , for you articles stawhu, Scott
Reply
botipton Premium
Yes it can be saved and used or finished later. There is a button on the top right to save it. Yes you can copy and paste it anywhere. The way to get out to as many WA's as you can is with a blog post.

I do not understand your question, "Which platform do you recommend for which platform?"

Hi thanks for the response, I read some where here (WA) site content and site write template , I take they are the same thing or not, stawhu
Reply

No they are not. This is the Content Writer. And the other one is under the ink pen on the top right. Click the ink pen and then Write New Blog and that is probably what you are referring to as the site write template.

Yes as I know all about the lack of technology when I was young, I find I have to just work harder to handle it all. It's my smart 'phone that gives me the gripes. I'd rather speed back home and tackle
things on my computer. Those little letters you have to touch to

I've also had a pretty crazy life, so many different jobs, I did not drive a truck though, only a taxi, I would have liked to try a truck,
you can scare DH''s off the road, no I don't go in for road rage, but guys that like to drive women off the road.

Now you can await the coming of success if persistently taking the right actions as instructed in the WA training course and the help from its members, though hard and tough. In reality, there has been no such a program like WA.

To illustrate what I stated and assured above, welcome to peruse few of my WA posts and some contents in my site, www.ebettercare.com, built with WA's WP platform.

If encountering any questions, just ask the WA members, who will surely and timely lend their helping hands.

Hi , I am just wondering what the purpose of following others and being followed is ? I am totally new to internet money making and marketing , website building etc .
What I do know is I am pretty intelligent , and if help and others really showing me how to do this is available in depth , then I will do what needs to be done .
Please answer the question in the 1st paragraph and share all the helpful info and encouragement you have for me .
Thank you much ,

Hello Brett. The purpose of following is two-fold. One it lets us see what others post and we are each others teachers. Also it lets people see what we post so that can also learn from our post. Following and being followed is the action that allows us to have more opportunities to learn from each other.

Thank you for inviting me to follow, Bo! Being a good clown takes wisdom, and from your multifaceted experience(s), enjoying life as you obviously do, that depth and humor is still with you! I'm also 65. We're aware of values we had, but being interconnected as now were beyond our reach. I guess the trick today is to keep focus, avoiding (too many) distractions. WA has been an eye-opener in so many ways, via the sincerity of this community. It was almost by coincidence I found it, and it sure is a path out of habitual circles. It will take some time, though - WA is to me a core base with a long-term view, meanwhile learning and interacting, continuing from what I've done prior. We have a lot in common overall, it seems - both of us in good shape, bouncing - even cruising a truck through landscapes is an old dream of mine, but then again philosophy doesn't always entail a driver license... Let's talk along the road!

All the best!

What a great post! I am like you I have done a wide variety of jobs. I often feel like a jack of all trades but a master of none! I am very grateful for the experiences I have had throughout my life.
Now on to the next greatest adventure, learning this internet thing! I am happy to have this platform to guide me.
You have had a great deal of writing experience so I'll ask you, if you'll allow me the liberty, is it better to have lengthy content that drones on and on or does brevity play a role?
Have a wonderful day.

There is value in both. My post are around 600 words but have more if I have something else to say. I think you never should inflate a post just to make sure you have enough words. I know that Google has got where it does not like short post in the 200 to 400 range. To easy to game the system with them.

I think it is better to be concise, say what you need to then end the post instead of trying to add things to make the post longer.

I appreciate what you wrote about the stairs and falling. And I am
also a dog lover. I was a dancer and even taught it when I was younger. Even though I was suppose to be graceful as I got older I began to trip a good deal and fall. I also developed osteoporosis. Therefore my last fall I broke my femur and it was on my bedroom floor. I am ok from that or just about ok. Thought I would throw that in while falling was being discussed.
I have not done what I should do here on WA. I have found there is life and so much that gets in the way. Serious stuff! But I always have this in the back of my head and really try to get back here. One of the things that helps me is to sit aside a little time each day to work on this. Even if it is just an hour. If you do you will be pleasantly surprised how quickly things change.

One of the people I work with built a successful website and business on their lunch hour. They talked to their boss and he agreed to let them use it to work on their business during lunch only. They did not have Internet access at home and could only work on it during their lunch hour at work.

Pretty quickly they got where they could afford Internet and a computer. Now they no longer need a job and are doing great. It all started with 1 hour a day on a companies computer. If their boss knew that was going to happen they probably would of said no.

I am glad you are doing better from the fall.

Hey thanks for the follow and I was just thinking about what I would be do if we didn't have the internet. So many people are afraid to try new things and that's why they don't make it and that's why I'm here because I'm not afraid to try something new. Thanks again

I wanted to thank you again and I am curious about what your view is on what is considered the hard work of getting this going...understood is time a few months possibly...basically I'm looking for a model site to look over and see how the structure is such as where products are placed and how the reviews are written
Thank you
Mark

Everything is relevant to how much you want to work and the time you want to invest. As far as a model site that is hard to find. Each site is based on the theme you chose and how you work with it. So a model site is hard to find.

There are people and places that will send you a generic site that works with everything ready to go but then you are one of the thundering herd but then you are not doing something to make yourself stand out.

A few months is it possible? Yes it is.

Thank you for the information. I still need some work and glad to know in a few months it is possible with W.A. I was apprehensive because I have tried three other websites and lots of money invested with my credit cards in a different company that didn't work (computer stuff like tablets for sale). Still paying them off... My current Tshirtsbymark...was done by a couple friends and no one has ordered..even though it has seo ...however I read it's not good to try your own product...because most people want brand names.
Are you using Pay Pal for payment...haven't been that far yet in my training...

Thank you again
Reply
botipton Premium
I use PayPal for payment here. I use several different ones for Payment on my sites.

There is nothing wrong in using your own product like t-shirts if you have a unique selling point. Something that makes you stand out from the thundering herd. Otherwise you are just one of many. If you want to send me a private message and we will talk about it.

You should not go into debt here to build your business. You should build your business to pay off your debts.

What is taught here has been proven over and over again to work if you do the work. I know you can do this. It is time to move away from struggling and not making anything.

Why do you not post some poetry on your blog. I for one would like to read it.

Hi There, I have had this system for quite a while. I have done nothing with it because I get stuck on what do I do with it, feeling I have nothing to offer. I have been looking at the things you have done and I really would like to get this off the ground. I have many interests. Should I just go with my most loved interest, and then the next liked? I am not getting any younger and working is getting old after all these years. I do not have any social media accounts because they seem to be so silly, people putting their lives out there, which I think is so silly. Is there any hope for me?
Reply
botipton Premium
Sure there is hope for you. Even people without social media accounts that are getting older and that are tired of working is a niche to work in. Think about what you love doing and would not mind writing about it every day.

Only concentrate on one thing at a time.

If you one to message me and talk about some ideas fell welcome to do so.

So yes there is hope for you and you actually in a good place to start.

I too think the social media has gotten 'silly', but I have two Facebook accounts, one Google Plus account and one Pintterest account. I have been tempted many times to disconnect from all social media but.... it's supposed to be good to get attention to my website which is dog related. I just found out today that my website might actually have made some money... that was a surprise since I thought I hadn't made a cent. I will check my Paypal account tomorrow and see where the money went :)

As far as the show I gave up watching TV years ago. We watch movies all the time but doing this is so much more fun then TV

I don't imagine that there is anything in particular that I can advise you about. But, I definitely agree that living longer enables one to get more done.

Of course, for the penny conscious, getting older in its own fashion is free.

Am considering JustOldBob, am not yet ready for JustElderlyBob.

Just after my wife and I turned 60, we had to look for an apartment. At one place were we were in an interview, the owner stepped away for a few minutes and we saw her notes. It said "elderly couple". We each looked at each other and both protested, "we're just old, not elderly." So, to this day still, we're Just Old. WE Do seem to be losing the argument lately, however.

I use to own the domain names: Oldnotelderly.com and Justoldnotelderly.com. Dropped them a couple of years back. With your imagination and talent, they might be useful.

Nice shirt!

I just telling them that each day I getting aged a little more and like a fine wine worth more. We have a lot of fun with it.

I still own marketingforolderfolks.com even though I have not done anything with it yet. It is the next on the list to develop.

Really good to meet you on here and I know we will be talking more.

You remind me of a guy I hired in the mid 80s. He was an ex Marine (back when the draft could assign you to the Marines as well as the Army), a rodeo cowboy, a TV news anchor for local NBC affiliates iin El Paso and then in Corpus Christi, a local newspaper journalist, and a published author. He came in with his best asset being his personality and quickly learned the product lines extremely quickly.

Hi botipton, my name is Judy and I am very new to this. I am a bit confused actually. My wonderful husband died in August 26, 2016 so I decided I would attempt to try a new avenue of making money. I am a retired teacher and a volunteer at the Womens Resource Center. I believe I have the time to do this. If you have any pointers please share them with me. I need help. I have watched the Training 1. Is this the same as being an affiliate? Thank you for reading my message. Judy

Hello Judy glad you are here. I would be glad to help you anyway I can. I sent you a private message.

The difference in the training 1 and being an affiliate or Affiliate Bootcamp is that the training is teaching you how to setup a website in a niche/area/field you like working in. Being an affiliate of Wealthy Affiliate and going through the Affiliate Bootcamp is helping others find their way here to get the training that is offered and getting paid to do that.

I just wanted to stop by and say thank you for the follow. I am currently following you as well:) You're bio is very inspiring coming from an individual who has done so much in life! It seems like with all the multiple career paths you have chosen throughout life, you have finally found a program to help you escape the 9-5 rat race. It is just so inspiring to me as a young individual to finally come across a program that so much people talk about that actually works and Helps change lives. So much members here on Wealthy Affiliate has put in good words and ratings for this program! That is definitely awesome to hear! There is a famous quote from Mark Twain:

"If it's your job to eat a frog, it's best to do it first thing in the morning. And if it's your job to eat two frogs, it's best to eat the biggest one first."

And that just means - do your hardest task first or at least as soon as you can in the morning. If you do this then the rest of your day is easy from there!

ANYWAY…

Hello, thanks for the follow and welcome to WA. You are definitely in the right place!

Hello my new WA Friend! I am very new to WA and appreciate you following me. To reciprocate I am now following you! Not even sure what that means.
Here is why I am involved with WA:
I am a Wordpress/Woocomerce web site manager and developer. I have five web sites I manage and they all sell stuff. I am trying to figure out how to add an affiliate layer to three of these sites so affiliate marketers can use their sites to funnel traffic to my customers' products. If that traffic develops into sales, then the affiliate marketers get a commission. So...WA is my first volley into that world. If you have any ideas or insights into how WA can work for me or them, I am ready to take notes! In the mean time, thank you for friending me!

If you are using WordPress there are some plugins that can set up what you are looking for. Don't let Wealthy Affiliate fool you. I run about 20 sites and pretty good at what I do and I still learn a lot here. If nothing else hit helps me sharpen up some of th skills I have got slack on.

So welcome to Wealthy Affiliate their is a great group of people on here that will answer questions and help you on your journey as much as they can.

Thank you for the follow; I am following you as well. I have always been an advocate of mentoring. There is too much to learn. In my case, I could spend half an hour going back and forth on the videos, and with a mentor, I was able to move forward after about 10 minutes of assistance. Continue doing the good work in sharing your knowledge with others.
