Having built a new website and then "Moving" it over to an existing website, will the new content overwrite the existing content?

Hey Gordon,

If you do the transferring of your website from one domain to another, the backup plugin I use to transfer ALL of the content, makes ALL of the changes to your internal links for you: If SiteSupport moves your SiteRubix site to your purchased domain name from WA, then they do all of that for you.

Then, they will tell you to LEAVE the SiteRubix in place for at least 30 days so the search engine spidering software will see that you have moved your content to a new site.

Am sure that SiteSupport would tell you this too, but in case someone reads this and attempts this on their own... once you have had your content transferred from SiteRubix to your NEW domain, go back into your SiteRubix site dashboard to the Settings > Reading and look for Search Engine Visibility, then DO check mark that to Discourage search engines from indexing this site.... for obvious reasons.

Hope you find this helpful.

Hi yes totally.

However,

I would back it up, you can use AIO WP Migration or Updraft plugins. UpdraftPlus is a premium and highly recommended.

I would then delete destination site.

And then do the move.

Great Thanks again Abie

If I were to build a website using siterubix free domain are there any restrictions as to what I can do and can't do?

Besides the obvious no-no Gordon, they sky is the limit.
You may find this post encouraging: Hope this helps you.

Thank you Trish

Good info here, Gordon! Thanks!

Jeff

No you treat it like your own. Just keep it legal.

Looks like you are covered by answers

Looks like it Dave :-)

Nope. I think there aren't. You just need to realize that when you are sure about your brand/website name, you should change it into a dot com domain. Hope this helps. Good luck,

Thank you Clemont
