I'd love to hear more about how it worked for you.

Hey Stephanie,

Personally, I would work at creating a winning website and once that has been completed, then and only then look for option like Ezoic seems to offer, in order to improve an already winning website. Otherwise, I would deem this expense a waste of money.

Hope this helps you.

Does anyone here use ezoic? if so, please reply!

They're from 2012 and 2013, and I'd like to see a curated, current one. See link off to the left, under "Tools".

A helpful discovery that needs a change.

You posted a good question.

Yes obsolescent Stephanie. God catch!

I excel at god catches. :)

Love it Spork. My fumble LOL!

One that I wanted was unavailable, but naturally I went to the site and then saw I could inquire about a price. I was quoted a price of $78,000. WHAT THE HOLY HECKMAJIGGY?

Private message me Sporkypie. I'll show you how to find available domain names that you're not paying a fortune for and use the keywords you want without resorting to using hypens in your domain name or buying a .net or .org name.

In my book, reasonable is 13.99 what you have at Namecheap and also at WA.

Oh that is crazy. I am selling mine for only $50K! Maybe I should up my price...

Are you serious?

Nope, but if someone offers me $50k, I will make the sale...

that's a ridiculous price unless they're selling it to a corporation and even they wouldn't pay that

Yeah, I thought about counter-offering with $300, as a joke. This URL is for an extremely niche kind/size of shoe, so the entire thing makes no sense.

you have people out there buying domain names simply to resell them and make big money off it thinking someone would want it bad enough to pay the price---this was done to corporations when having a presence for your business online just started to grow

The price is a starting price for a negotiation.
When you approach a domain, the seller does not know your resources or intent for the usage so they start off high.
In some cases, the domain is worth a lot to the buyer, and a crucial part of an upcoming strategy plan and the buyer is willing to pay up. And if that is the case, the seller do not risk missing out on that.
But in most cases, the price can be talked down a lot.

You can sign up to see if the domain expires and get notified and grab it if you are quick enough. Also if you look in WHOIS you can see the renewal date for the domain so you know when to look for it.

I use a Norwegian site to notify me for domain expirations.
https://domainnameshop.com/domainwatch
Its free.
There are others that can do this, but many are connected to Hostgator, Bluehost or others and if they see some interest for a domain they snatch it to sell. Domainnameshop does not do that.

Thank you for this answer!!!

LOL .. in that case I must have $1 mill worth of domains! Cheers, William.

Wow. I was complaining about 35,000!!!

I mean, I understand if it's tv.com or oscars.com or a major, known brand-name that didn't have the brains to park their domain. But really. The one I wanted was hardly an obvious commercial goldmine.

My advice is to find something you are very passionate about and want to tell the whole world about even if you never make a dime; not just look for a niche to possibly make some money.

It will become a daily work of Love and Joy. Your Love and Joy will shine through every word you write and you will be blessed for everyone you help.

I wish I had a dollar for every time this was asked ;-)
This may shed some light:

Thank you for sharing these resources. I'm sure this question gets old for the experienced users, but it's probably on the top of the list for most newbies!

Definitely!

It's very hard to say. It depends on where you start (absolute newbie or not), your niche, the time you can spend working on your on your website, your dedication, and perseverance.
I started making money after 4 months working full time on my website and starting as a total newbie.
1 year later I am still not earning a consistent income with affiliate marketing but I am getting closer every day and I am making a good income by working from home doing Freelance jobs on the internet.

Thank you for sharing your perspective and experiences.

In my case, I started earning before joining Wealthy Affiliate, but the sums were pretty small...Like under $100 a month small...

Over the past 21 months, I have managed to generate an average of a bit over $500 a month, but that average is going up quite a bit this year already...

The main reason is from e-commerce sales. This makes the gross income look good, but after you deduct all expenses, it is considerably less...

We have inventory costs, employees, warehousing, hosting, content creation, marketing costs, website maintenance, handling costs, and etc.

When you take all this out, there is about an average of 30% profit leftover so far, which is acceptable for us. That money we are plowing back into the business to grow faster...

Delay of gratification is the key...Working steadily and regularly towards whatever goal you may have, based on your online marketing plan is the way to go...

It is a marathon, not a 100-yard dash..This is how I and my partner are looking at this online marketing business...

Our real monthly (net) income should hit 10k USD a month by the end of the year, based on how things are growing (we are looking for $30-35k a month in sales), and we split these profits 50/50 - for me (and my partner), that is just the start...

I seriously think what we have is a $50 million a year global sales potential with the niche (and complementary niches) we are in...That is a lofty goal hehe, but that is what we are working to attain...

If we maintain the 30% profit margin (or even drop an extra 10% into marketing and take out 20%) you can see what is left for us - a LOT)...

The last part of the plan? Sell...Always have an exit plan at the end of growing your business, even if you do not intend on selling...

There may come a time when you will want or need to sell, so have an idea of what your work is worth...

So back to your question on how long does it take...

(1) It takes starting with a good plan and

(2) Identifying the concrete steps you have to take action on, and then

(3) Staying busy regularly and over time making sure that everything you do regarding your online business is moving you forward on your planned path...

(4) The last step is to regularly review where you have been, where you are, and where you need to adjust to keep moving forward...

(5) That end goal can also be modified as you go through the review process, and it should. As you gain more experience and intelligence about the niche, new information must be factored in...

My opinion...

The training and path shown here is a proven method and many have succeeded following it...You and I and all members here can too...

The information you gain with the training can also be used in other online niches as I and my partner have done...You can choose to take on more and do both affiliate marketing and other activities, as you may have time and desire for...

So I will take one last stab at this how long it will take to make money question...

How long it takes is

(1) How you use the tools provided here and any others you may think will help you leverage your time and work,

(2) The veracity of the plan you develop to deploy those tools...

and one more (perhaps the MOST important factor)...

(3) Having the right mindset for the business...

You have to have the tenacity to stick out the rough times when you are tired, the kids are around and wanting attention, you are lazy, you are not getting the results you wanted or expected, etc...

Not sure if this answered your question fully, but it is my thoughts on the subject hehe...

Cheers!
Dave : )

Thank you for this Dave and for the time to write these guidelines. I am sure many will appreciate it. Love the part about tenacity and the rest.

No problem at all...Thanks also for taking the time to add your comment Jovo! : )

This was an awesome and thorough response. Thank you for sharing your experiences so far, as well as your expectations for continued growth of your business. It's a very good reminder that we need a PLAN beforehand and even thinking ahead, to selling the business someday.

This is a long term project .. commit to 1 - 2 years :) Cheers, William.

I do see that it's long term. I'm mostly curious about how it played out for other people, and when the real "ah ha!" moment hit :)

It will take as long as it takes or how Long is a piece of string
Yes all depends on your niche and you !
I would say two years

based on this, would you say it varies wildly niche to niche, person to person? Is two years average?

Nobody can tell you what the average is, and there is no guarantee it will ever work. I am close to thinking it will never work but I push forward as hard as I can. If you find this contradictory, you are right, but this is true.

You have seen what Dave is saying, he is at 500/month but he speaks about millions in future. Contradictory? Probably. Realistic? Who knows. He is thinking big, this is a good sign.

There are people here who achieved 10000/month within one year, there are many more who remained at zero.

You bring up a good point: there is no guarantee. All we can do is work hard, think, take steps that work for others, and hope they work for us!

I think most people fail because they have not learned how to get traffic - they have a site post a blog and sit and wait but you have to learn different ways to bring traffick to you
