I could not find even one Training from Carson out of hundreds??? I am going to bed for the night. I have looked for this for hours. I even went off-site to WordPress Training. their site is screwed up. Wants me to Login but offers no way to register first.

Well, now you know that it is not WordPress but All In One SEO that provides that option.

Hope you have a restful night Bill.

Are you available? I bought a Domain Name through WA and I have the DNS1 and DNS2 links. but I don't have a verification code and can not seem to get this process completed. I have a Theme picked out and the Gutenberg plugin
I went to send this yesterday and here it still sets!

Hey Bill,

Sounds like you may have done the same thing I did. For hours I kept clicking that send verification code again button and nothing came through.

However, once I discussed my issue with SiteSupport they suggested that perhaps I had used a different email address when registering that domain.

At first, I thought... nooooo... but upon thinking more, I figured it wouldn't do me any harm checking my other email addresses that I seldom check on.. and VOILA! There were the many verification emails offering me a link to click on. LOL!

If that turns out to be your issue... then YEEEAH!

Question. I know WordPress is well known for Bloat either by Hooked in Code, or Widgets and Plugins. I saw where Kyle said, "try not to use more than 3 Plugins". I have seen 3 Plugins kill WordPress. Anyway in my Search tonight for clean code Plugins I downloaded 2 new Themes and several Plugins. One is the Gutenberg Project. WordPress 4.9.8 is the last and the cutoff was beginning of Oct. The next release is to be the end of Oct and it has the Gutenberg Project in it. My issue is that the code is a hefty 1,141k. I want to remove the EWWW and replace it with (ZIPPED) Jetpak at 5,931k, Yoast SEO 3,398k, and a CRN 1,215k to capture Emails for a funnel. This is obviously going to add some Bloat.
My question is; it has been many years since I used WordPress and it didn't have any method of crunching the code after you added the weight. Does it have a way today? Or does the added code just stay in an exterior package and passes data in and out?
Reply
Triblu Premium
Hey Bill,

If your website is hosted here on WA servers, Jetpak won't run for security reasons.

Kyle is trying his hardest to get to all of the older training and update it, and he has done a bang up job... so please, understand that the 3 plugin rule has been updated, though using well coded plugins truly is a must.

Not sure what you are referring to by "crunching the code", but perhaps this will address your concern: Hope you find this helpful.

My mind just won't work on that issue. Once we used to code a program we ran a program that made it an executable, i.e., EXE. It's not the same process but similar. When you add Bug Fixes, Program Upgrades, etc, you then run a program to make them all work with less overhead. I'm sorry but I have struggled for 2 days on what I mean to say there but just can't remember.
I hate where I am stuck. No Memory and Tremors. You get hit on the top of the head enough in a truck accident that it breaks your neck from C2 through C5 I guess you have to expect damage. Not looking for sympathy. It has been since Feb 2014. I lived through it, I guess that should be enough.

The domain transfer to WA is driving me nuts! I've !watched Kyle's lesson no less than 7 or 8 times and I still can't get my domain to transfer. I'm trying to move to WA a domain that I've had for several years.

The lesson tells us to select 'Site Manager then click the Move" button. when we do, we're supposed to get two buttons.. The one on the left we choose , to transfer a domain name that WAS NOT purchased in WA (which s m y case), and the other (right) button is used for domains that have been purchased in WA, which IS NOT my case.

So,I go to Site Manager and click on the "Move" button. I DO NOT get the two windows noted above, but I get a bar that requests a domain name.

This page is ow the page on which we purchase a domain from WA???, not the page with the two option buttons discussed above. I type in my domain name but it indicates that it is not available???!!!???

I've been working on this off and on (more on than off) for three days now and I'm kinda fed up.

Would appreciate any assistance you could provide.

Thanks... Steve

This sounds like a good time to seek out the help of SiteSupport Steve. https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites/support

The new method of bringing a site over to WA was intended to be simpler, not to cause frustration. You make me glad I never had to go through what you have, as I'm SURE I'd be frustrated too. Wow!

Do be sure to explain all that you have tried and how frustrated you have become so they "get it" else they may redirect you to that silly option of button to choose from. Hmmmm...

Hope you find this helpful.

Hi Triblu
My question is about writing content. I am not sure if I am supposed to guide people in the direction of buying from me in the future or is this is a general guide. Sample, I haven’t published it yet but my content is an overview of what is needed in the kitchen. My niche is kitchen gadgets. My second content page was going to be a guide to buying kitchen gadgets but since I don’t have my site ready, I am not sure that is a good idea. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

Hey Carolyn,

The best advice I can offer you about writing your content is this...

When writing your content, write though you are speaking to your best friend over the telephone. Speak to your readers just like you would your friend.

We are not pushers... we are to be a fountain of information helping others solve their problems.

Once we have established a good and reliable reputation, we will definitely be making sales as visitors will be less leery of clicking on our affiliate links.

Hope this helps you.

Hello Trish,

I hope you are well.
I would like to ask for your kind help.
I applied to add AdSense to my website but my application was rejected. The reasons are vague and I don't know really why.
The response from AdSense is in Japanese and I tried to translate into English.

Below is the English translation of Adsense response:
"As we reported in previous e-mails, the AdSense code has been placed on your site, so we continue to review your application. As a result, the following violation was confirmed in your account, so your account has been disapproved.
Reasons for not being approved are as follows.
Sites not complying with our policies: Your site can not approve your AdSense application at the moment, as it is not compliant with the Google AdSense program policies or does not comply with Webmaster quality guidelines Please understand. Google's goal is to provide advertisers with a site that can deliver high-quality, useful content and relevant ads to valuable users. We have determined that your site does not meet this standard at the moment.
Please refer to the following tips to increase the user's convenience on the site and to meet the requirements of AdSense."
It is important to provide valuable information to users on sites that display Google ads. Please make sure that content to be posted on the site has high relevance and relevance that users want to access first.
Do not place ads on pages that have autogenerated pages or few unique content.
It is important to make the site easy to operate and enhance user convenience, and it is necessary to move the page by clicking operation so that you can easily find the information you are looking for."

I would appreciate it if you could have a look at the website and let me know how I can improve it

Thank you in advance

Warmest regards,

Hey Adel,

Have you reviewed Adsense Policies yet?

Google searching "adsense policies" (without the use of quotation marks, of course) will bring up 2 pages of policies that you can review.

Your website has no navigation (menu) bar. Kyle states in his training about our sites having Home, About, Contact, etc. That was the first thing I noticed.

Also, your site seems focused around you and not about the visitor's dreams... which could be what they were referring to when stating; "Please understand. Google's goal is to provide advertisers with a site that can deliver high-quality, useful content and relevant ads to valuable users."

Having said all of that... most members do not like what Adsense does to their websites and are not long removing the code and simply walking away from using Adsense, even though their sites WERE approved.

Don't feel bad, I too was not approved and I'm in agreement with the members who don't like what Adsense looks like on their sites. Personally, when searching for information... those sites I come across that use Adsense, I will not read their information as I feel their credibility is lost with their use of ads like this.

Hope this helps you.

Hello Trish,
Thank you for your quick response.
My site have an About, Services, FAQ, Contact and Blog Pages.
You have to press menu to select the pages.
This is how the theme I am using shows the menu
Do you think I should change the theme so the menu appears differently?
The website is to introduce myself and the services I offer that is why it is focused around me
Do you have an idea how I can make it more focused on the visitors dreams?
And as you said it might be not a good idea to have AdSense on the website
Thank you again
Adel

Hey Adel,

Have taken a screen print of what I see as to a menu. If there is another menu, I do not see it.

Your loading page should have content that is relevant... and a video that does NOT autoplay. The only content I see on your loading page that definitely belongs there is the video you have set to auto play as soon as your page loads. All else is not relevant to the loading page.

Image of you and your Meet Me video would be perfect for your About page.

Pretend you are the visitor to your website and you are looking for the information there. That is the BEST way of being able to provide what the visitors wants instead of what we THINK they want.

It's the old adage of "what's in it for me" that we must keep in mind as that is the mind-set of our website visitors. They don't care WHO we are... they just want a fix for their problem.

As to whether you should change your theme or not that is entirely up to you. If you should decide to do so, here's a great tutorial to help you:

Well hello Albert, nice to meet you.

If you have just signed up now... congratulations for believing in yourself. I am certain you will grow to love it here. WA reminds me of how helpful a few of us were back in the 90s when we would help each other out by sharing the new techniques that were discovered on other's websites.

You won't want to be wasting too much time socializing right now though, as you only have 7 whole days of free training. So, please DO take advantage of that goody!

Here's the link to get you started: See screen print below to see how you can readily access the training course.

Hey Triblu, how are u doing. I'm still working hard doing lots of research and learning more everyday.. The writing part is now second nature. Before long I think my iPad going to start talking to me lol.

I have one question do you need where I can find out how to incorporate a spreadsheet into my blog. What program or plugin do I need? My questions are getting more technical, which is good I guess.

Thanks

Hey Mickey,

If you simply want to offer your website visitors an Excel spreadsheet you could offer that in a zip file, up load the zip file to your Media Library, find the URL of the file once up loaded, and attach that within your post or page where you want to make your Excel file accessible for downloading.

However, if you simply want to insert a spreadsheet into your post or page, you can Google search "insert spreadsheet into wordpress" (without the quotation marks, of course) and select a plugin from those listed in your search result.

Hope you find this helpful.

Trish,
I have a question I thought you might be able to help me out with. I am using the OceanWp theme. I set up the standard header with Home, About, Blog, and Contact. I successfully created the menu and labeled it menu 1. I then selected main for the header position. On all my pages the header is on the right-hand side, except the "About Page", where it appears on the left-hand side. I have gone back to the WordPress page and check to make sure the "About page" was included in Menu 1 and marked menu 1 position main, and it is. Can you think of a reason why the header appears on the wrong side?
Sandy
Reply
Triblu Premium
Hey Sandra,

I can only guess... but perhaps you selected a template setup in your About page that places your menu on the opposite side. Check to see if that is it. If so, simply make the template the same as your other pages and VOILA, that should fix it.

The Templates (if your theme offers that option) will appear on the right side of your edit window.

Hope that works.

I spent all day yesterday redesigning the page. I added and new theme and added google fonts. I'm really happy with the new design. I'm know writing more content before I add my amazon links. My one question I'm not quite sure where to insert my affiliate links into my blogs? I am wondering if I should just provide a link to my review blogs we I keep them done. Anyhow but to writing I'm hoping to add three more posts this weekend. Thanks for everything.

Hey Mickey,

Sounds like you are making great progress, good stuff!

As for affiliate links... only recently discovered that text links are working best. Yes, not images... odd... but, what ever works, right?

Always keep your affiliate links below the fold... meaning a visitor would need to scroll to find your first affiliate link. And, no more than 3 affiliate links per 1000 words.

Yes, you could add your links to your reviews for sure.

You're on a roll... I KNEW you could do this! :-))

Thank you for the follow! I should be following and learning from you. I'm a third generation farmer. I grew up on a farm but started in 1974 until august 5th 2014. I fell thru a roof helping an old lady repair her barn.I broke my hip. I'm still recoverying thats why I'm going thru a career change. The only thing I used a computer for was to play games and look up stock qoutes.
I stared February 2018 I'm still here. It's just taking me a little longer being I have to learn how to use the computer also. My first site their was a mis spelling ,didn't realize that until late march.
Then I got caught up in trying to be perfect.Going to change my profile to tell a little more about me and probably add a real picture of me .
I guess I think I know enough now so I be making some noise soon. But their is alot to learn yet. Even though I'm trying to recover. My real motivation is my wife has a non curable disease. I learned how to multi-task real quick on house work.among other things that come up. That why I have to learn this.
Thank you Doug

Wow Doug, you certainly have had a LOT to deal with lately and I admire you for stepping up, learning a new tool to start out on a new career like you are doing.

Remember too that you do not need to be perfect. When reviewing older blog posts, and I find a missing word, a spelling mistake or a sentence that juuuuust wasn't quit worded right, I've been angry with myself for... mmmmm... about a second, and then I remember that... shuckers darn it, I'm human and humans are not perfect.

I am still embarrassed when making typos or grammar mistakes but less critical of myself now. And as for learning... heck, I'm STILL learning website designing techniques (that's why I'm here!), mostly because they're new techniques.

The major PLUS is the community here... we keep each other updated on changes. Yeaaaaah! :-))

You're winning attitude will drive you toward learning, and in time you WILL succeed. Looking forward to reading about your success when you're ready to share.

Hey there! Well, the wonderful party is over, and it was a wonderful party! I don't know how many people were here...didn't count...but they filled my deck and yard. When all the eatin' and birthday cake was done, 20 of us went to my "woman's cave" (originally my garage, but a finished room, sort of, that opens onto the house proper) and played music. A few folks came and listened; some went to another party across town; a bunch of sweet elves cleaned all the mess while I was having a ball playing bass and singing. It was a totally stupendous party. One friend gave me a tiara that I had to wear all evening. Cute! And now I am going to go fall in bed! Night-night.

P.S. Next summer you should come visit Alaska. If you come about this time of year, you might be surprised that it is so warm.

Thought about you and your party all day yesterday... and prayed it would be a success. :-)) sounds like my prayers were answered. Yaaaahoooooeeee!

Friends toured Alaska by car and they even video taped it (VHS back then) and so I've known since then how warm it is at this time of year.

It's just the winter months that I could not handle. I have a hard enough time getting through winters in the GTA.

Hope you slept well and are ready to get back in the saddle here. :-))

Your "woman's cave" sounds like my office here. I converted a garage to my street entrance office, removed a hill and put a detached garage in the backyard.

Would love for you to send me a screen print using the Text tab of one of your posts (in a private message, of course) so that I can help you from there.

Hello, and happy Sunday. Wanted to give you an update; then I have a small question. Justin4487 answered my question about where I'm to put product links. He went through my blog and found one very good place. In one article, I have a pic of a cat scratching post with the remark, "I like this kind", or something like that. He suggested I replace that with one Amazon has for sale, and put a link there. I looked in Amazon, and, sure enough, they have some like the ones I pictured. Then, I remembered the book I used for a reference in a couple of my articles. In fact, in the one on cat breeds, I gave the book a full credit at the bottom of the article. And, guess what? Amazon sells that one. So now my problem is solved.

Now -- where do I find a list of all the tutorials? And blog posts?

That's my question of the day. Today I have to work outside. Hope you are recovered from the rose bush massacre. You poor thing!

Hey Fran,

You can search to find WA tutorials, blogs and questions from the exact same text box. Check out the screen print below...

Nope, thankfully it wasn't rose bushes... just low-maintenance plants that were planted in my retaining wall 20 years ago. LOL ...blisters are still healing. Got to the dump yesterday to get rid of the many bags it took to contain the scale infestation.

Now I wait until next year to replant 4 new plants to replace those. This should give time to make sure that all of the scale bugs are gone. They have some sort of armour on them making them nearly impossible to kill.... thus the recommendation for removal.

It has been raining here most of today. Much needed rain... yeaaaaah!

Hope you have enjoyed your day outside.

Well, that looks easy! Thanks, Trish.

I just weeded my carrots; thinned for the last time. Then fertilized. We had such a cold spring that the garden suffered. My carrots are struggling, but the fertilizer seems to help. (Liquid fish stuff, made in Kodiak.) Hope you don't put blisters on your blisters!'

Have a nice evening. I will be doing some "catch-up" -- still several things to do for the party, plus I'm working on an interview for my other website (blog). I have done 15 or 16 in-depth stories about local people here. For such a small place, there's no end of interesting characters.

I thought retirement gave you lots of time to loll around. Doesn't look like it -- but then I'd be bored.

LOL, Fran y'er just not the sittin' 'round kinda' gal. You're obviously a doer!

I imagine that my blisters were made so severe because I kept going despite them breaking. Wasn't until all leafing branches were removed that I went an put on leather gloves... and, oooooh, did they ever hurt putting on and taking off. But I had to removed nearly 20 year roots with a shovel, so I HAD to where gloves by that time.

Hope your party turns out to be a hit with everyone, as I'm sure it will be.

Looks like we're not far from each other geographically speaking, I'm just north of the border in the GTA of Ontario, Canada. Our spring weather has been identical. :-))

At the start of spring, I was fearful of a repeat of last summer... you know... the summer that never was, it was sooo cold and wet.

Am off to get caught up myself now. Been out shopping this morning then picking raspberries in my backyard. Boy! Do I ever LOVE summer.

Take care and have a great day.

By the way, progress report. Got my Amazon affiliate ID, and will add a couple links to my posts soon. It's so warm here and has been dry for at least a week (What is Gustavus coming to?) so have to go hand water the potatoes. This morning a friend and I decanted devil's club tincture that we've had brewing for about a month. Always something more to do, isn't there?
Reply

Hah! I thought you are living in Connecticut... and you're in Alaska! That'll teach me for scanning your profile too quickly, eh? <wink>

Weird though that you suffered a similar spring... strange indeed.

It rained here all day yesterday, and its supposed to rain off and on every day for the next few days.

Yeaaah... you got your Amazon ID. Oh... just a tip on this... use text links only for Amazon as they apparently convert the best... PLUS, once you create a OneLink Amazon account (later, do NOT worry about that for now), OneLink only works on text links now.

What kind of potatoes did you plant?

Devil's club tincture... does it work?

LOL, like I said... you ain't the sittin' 'round kinda' gal!

Okay, have been taking a WA break because there will probably be 50+ people at my party Sunday, and I'm breaking up housekeeping chores with WA. Thanks for the Amazon link. I may do my first links after supper (halibut tonight -- yum!)
There are about 4 kinds of potatoes out there...I think two red and two white. A friend brought over his leftover seed potatoes, so took what I got. (Pretty sure these include some Yukon Gold and some French fingerlings.)
Devil's club tincture is quite effective. It is the only Alaskan member of the ginseng family (Echinopanax horridum). There are 3 primary uses that I like: 1) It works like Echinacea, in that it is an immune system booster. 2) It regulates blood sugar. If it's too high it will lower it; if too low, it will boost it. 3) Helps lower cholesterol. That's what I am taking it for at present. Do you have devil's club in your area?
I've been in Alaska for 50 years, by the way.

Hope your day is going beautifully. Your weather sounds like our usual, as we get lots of rain. However, it's quite warm and sunny today, and those spuds really needed a drink!

Enough...back to the current household chore. Take care.

Well Fran, now you really do impress me. 50 years of Alaskan winters... eewwww! Sorry... I'm a summer person and even though I live in what I call Canada's banana belt, I dread winter every year. LOL!

Don't know if there is a devil's club here in Oshawa or not, to be honest with you. That herb is a new one for me. Had not heard of it previously.

Have used liquid oregano oil for boosting the immune system and just learned today that real cider vinegar (acetic acid) is great for lowering blood sugar levels and fights diabetes, as well as lowers cholesterol.

Housework is on my todo list tomorrow. Top floor MUST be scrubbed, dusted and vacuumed tomorrow. Not a fun chore... just a necessity. :-))

Yukon Gold make excellent scalloped potatoes too. My dad used to make the BEST scalloped potatoes. Now I'm thankful to get them from Costco.

Have you tried the sweet potato french fries yet? WOW! They're now my "must haves". :-))

Nite for now.
Reply
FKelso Premium
Yep, those sweet potato fries are really good!

Devil's club is a very scary plant. A normal height is 5 to 6 feet, but it can get much taller. It has big maple-shaped leaves, but much bigger, with little fine spines all over them. They attach to a central stalk that is covered with nasty spines. During the summer, a spike of red berries grows at the top.
It amazes me how Native folks figured out this plant was such a healer. They use it for all kinds of things. You can even eat the young shoots in spring. The stalk is large, like the branch of a tree. To make the tincture, once you've gathered the plant with leather gloves on, you use your gloved hand to slide up and down the plant and remove the spines. Then you cut through the outer layer with a sharp knife to the cambium layer, which is lime green colored. You peel off the outer bark, then shave that lime green cambium layer off the plant. The inside is a white core, also used for a few things, but the cambium is the layer that circulates all the nutrients to the plant.
We used Christian Brothers brandy to make our tincture. The shavings are packed in a quart jar, covered with brandy, stored in a dark place, and shaken twice a day. After about a month, you strain it and put it in tincture bottles (one ounce size with a dropper.) Whew! I'm glad we got the job completed. It took us two days to get enough of the cambium collected.
Can you guess that my next website is going to be about Alaskan wild & edible plants? Have written two books about them.

Fran
P.S. Hope WA doesn't mind our having this conversation, which is not exactly about our "lesson plans."

Okay, here's a WA question. By the way, no, my plant books are not available on Amazon. One is out of print and I'll tell you the story of the other one in a private message sometime. However, I have a book that just came out about a month ago. It is about a cat, and I want to put it on my website. Yes, it is available through Amazon, but I can make a lot more if I sell it myself. Can I list something that I supply to the customer? If so, how do I do that?

I will send you some URLs for you to review in helping you with offering your own book for sale from your website. Reason I'm sending these links to you privately is so that years from now, if the URLs become dead, Kyle and Carson won't have a nightmare of work to do in fixing all the broken links.

Well, got the blog issue fixed. It's always something so simple! After I retrieved the draft, it asked for two tags. So I provided two. It still wouldn't publish. This last time I did the same thing, and then in the next space, it said add one tag. I hadn't tried adding a third one yet, so did that, and, voila! It published! I can't believe how simple the solution is at times. Why am I so dense?

Thanks for answers to all my questions. I removed Jetpack. Now I need to see if I can find the social media icon on my post.

Hey Fran... before you start sharing on social media... why have you not yet turned on your SSL certificate?: You need to do that.

Here's a tutorial to help you with this: Was this not covered in the training?

You will need a plugin to help you so that ALL of your pages will be displaying the green padlock. Here's a tutorial to help you with that: Now you will need to verify your website allllll over again with Google, Bing and Pinterest (if you previous had all 3 that is).

You do not have social media icons displayed, so am guessing you have not installed a plugin for that, yet. If so, here's a tutorial to help you: Do hold off sharing your URLs until your website is totally secure so that a warning will not be given to those who may visit your website IF you do share your URLs right now.
Reply
FKelso Premium
Ooh, you are good. If the SSL was covered in training, I missed it. You have given me homework. Thanks so much, lady!
Reply
FKelso Premium
Okay, I flicked the SSL switch, got the Social Media button on there, but have managed to create a new problem. On the Ultimate Social Media plugin I upgraded to the Premium and have paid for it. I want it because they have cat-shaped icons for the various platforms. However, now I can't figure out how to get it on the site. It is in a zip folder; should I extract? Or leave it that way?
I can't get it to upload on my website.
Reply
Triblu Premium
The zip file probably contains more than just the plugin. Try opening the zip file and if you see another zip file inside... then THAT is the plugin zip file you will need to upload to your website.

To do that simply click on Add New under Plugins... and at the very top of the next page, you will see Add Plugins and a button right beside the title that is labeled Upload Plugin... click that button... then you will be offered another button that will be labeled Browse... click on that button... then you will be presented with a window to your computer where you can locate that zip file and the you can click on the file and then click the Open button to upload it and it will upload and install it for you. Then all you have to do is Activate it.

Hope this works without too much pain.

You installed the Really Simple SSL plugin too, I hope.
Reply
FKelso Premium
Yes, I installed the Really Simple SSL plugin.

I believe I did exactly what you suggested: once I got to Browse and found the file, it would not open. I tried it a couple of times. I will go try once more. I am getting so frustrated with a new problem every time I try to do something.

Okay, got it to install. I had downloaded more than one; chose the one I hadn't used, and it installed. However, now it is asking for my license key. Where do I find that?

Also, there is this message on there: "SSL activated! Don't forget to change your settings in Google Analytics and Webmaster tools. I looked at the Analytics one, and couldn't figure it all out.

I am so sorry to be so computer-ignorant. I am slowing myself down by my lack of knowledge and taking up your time. Hope you get good benes for all the help.
Reply
Triblu Premium
Your license key should be in the account you would have created when purchasing the plugin... or, it might have been sent to you in an email.

Yes... the setting in Google Analytics... I gave you the tutorial to do that. You need to verify your site again. Changing so much as ONE character in a string of text makes the domain name different to scripts.

You are NOT slowing yourself down Fran... not one bit missy. Give yourself a bit of credit... you are doing a BANG up job and I am soooo proud of you.

However, I have to sign off here shortly as it is getting near midnight here... lol, I gotta' get some sleep soon. But I WILL be back tomorrow... promise!

FKelso Premium
Okay, after I wrote, I looked at the invoice, as I did print it. I found the purchase key -- assuming that is what they mean by licence key. Entered it; hit activate; told me it was not the right number. Found one letter wrong; tried it again; still wouldn't work. There are 2 choices there as to what it is listed under (can't remember the names) tried the code with both; got "error -- try again."

You get some rest. It's only 8:00 in Alaska. Tomorrow I will be gone until late afternoon selling at a summer market. A break will do me good. Might make me feel a little less hopeless.

Talk to you soon...
Reply
Triblu Premium
Yes Fran, fresh eyes after a spell away from the computer always works wonders.

Try to find the email again if you kept it (and you should always keep emails if you can). I have found that copy & pasting license numbers works waaaaay better than typing them... 'specially when they are a loooong string of mixed characters, which most times they are.

If that does not work, go back to your account with this plugin and request assistance from their support staff, as I am sure they will have support.

Hope you have a profitable day at summer market. I'm off to therapy myself this afternoon. :-))

Hey Verna,

When you want to chat with a member (or owner) of WA, all you need to do is go to their profile by clicking on the profile image (make certain you are ON their profile page and not offered a textbox), and then click on the Private Message button... which will take you to a blank form so you can start typing straight away.

As for reaching out the the WA owners, you do the same thing... going to their profile and clicking on the Private Message button. However, you will need to take one more step before you get to a blank form. Select one of the 3 options from the BOTTOM of the 6 options you will be offered to choose from. (see screen prints below)

You will not see YOUR profile having the Private Message button as we cannot contact ourselves, obviously.

If you need help picking a domain name, here are 2 great tutorials to help you: Hope this helps you.

Hello again. I noticed you often type dot com without letting a website or address go blue in conversations here at WA. Is it better never to let is go blue. If you want to have conversation with others here at WA, for example, to go leave a comment on your site, is it not good to let the link go blue to make it easier for folks to find your website or for following on Google? Any thoughts?
Reply
Triblu Premium
Hey Robert,

My agenda is simple: I prefer to not offer anyone a link to leave WA if at all possible... that's all... honest.

If you want ANYONE to leave a comment on your website, there are 2 distinct areas that WA has setup for you to spell out where you want the comment(s) left.
1.) 2.) https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites/comments/requests (see screen print below to see how you can readily access this link)
In BOTH of these cases you MUST make sure your link is not only "live" but you should always click on your link (in #1 option) to make sure you have stated it correctly.

Google's scripting (spider software) is clever enough to pick up subtleties like what I did in order to give credit where credit is deserved. That's all mentioned in the new ways of ranking in Google nowadays.

Hope this helps you.

Hey Scott,

Your privacy policy SHOULD be a web page and NOT a post. As for the print (font) being very large, that may well be an issue with your theme.

Check by testing to see if a new page created with dummy text displays the font size the same size ... or not. If the test page is the same size as your privacy policy page, then it is the way your theme is displaying pages as opposed to posts.

You can easily remove comments from ANY page or post. Here is a tutorial to help you with that: Hope this helps you.

Hey Chin-ti,

Like you, I'm still learning affiliate marketing, so I'm hardly an expert ... but thank YOU for your compliment.

As for feedback on any website; there are many members here who will gladly take the time to review a website for you. You can request feedback at the following locations: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/website-feedback Due to my limited time allotted for helping members with technical questions, I truly don't have time to do reviews too, as I run a business. I know silly question, but I worked in IT field for 30+ years and I noticed that women that worked in the same field drank Mt Dew. I don't know any woman outside of IT field that do. I have a theory that the IT field causes people to drink large quantities of Mt. Dew.

Website design knowledge will certainly be a big advantage for you here at WA Trish, so you have come to the right place to use your skills I think. You should find it quite easy to leverage your web design skills to generate a significant income, if you follow the training and in particular pay attention to the keyword related content marketing training. I'll follow you with interest.

Hey Gary,

Website designing rules are changing all of the time, so, though I do have the advantage of not being so afraid to Google search my way to discovering a fix for myself (back in '97 we had to go find the info ourselves as there were no books on website designing), I am in the same boat as any other beginner here when it comes to affiliate marketing.

I am enjoying what I'm learning here at WA, and loving the secured hosting we now have (https) for our registered domains.

Having started last year, I do think it would be to my advantage to take the Certificate Courses over again. I'm hearing there has been lots of new info added.

Thank YOU for following me right back!

Good morning Trish, greetings from a windy but sunny south of Portugal where I came on a weeks vacation to visit Danish friends who live in Canada. Great to be a website designer, I wish I could be like that. I design quite nicely in my head but to put it into real, the technical stuff so to speak, that is difficult. Anyhow, I will continue and perhaps one day I will also master this art.
Thank you for the follow and have a good day.

Nice to meet you Taetske!

Portugal is a destination friends have been talking about going to in winters. Anything to avoid our nasty cold Canadian winters :-))

Stick with Kyle's training in the Certification Courses and I'm sure you will do find with the technical stuff. Believe me, the techy stuff has changed drastically over the years, and WordPress has made creating a website a lot simpler ... though there is a true advantage to having a working knowledge with HTML.

I'm here learning affiliate marketing, but am also getting brushed up on what's new with WordPress every time I try helping to answer a member's question ... so, I'm loving that aspect too.

Hey Trish - I'm sure that you do straight WP installs, so I'd be curious how SiteRubix fits into your work. Also, you've probably faced many more challenging situations with local marketing than what folks here tackle. So, I'm curious what you get out of being a part of WA.
Reply
Triblu Premium
Great question John, and I have detail the answer in a post shared here: Not sure where you get the idea that I only do straight WP installs. I've been doing website designing LONG before WordPress was created.
Reply
johnchang Premium
I don't think I said "only" - it was more a comment on straight vs. SiteRubix..and asking about how / whether this platform offers you anything. Like you, I *can* do a straight install with regular hosting but find that SiteRubix saves a bit of time for some cases. The trade-off, of course, is using their domain vs. your own.
Reply
Triblu Premium
Oooh ... okay. Well ... I use both my own AND WA's servers. Which do I find best?
Well, for local marketing reasons, I make sure my local business uses local hosting - explanation here: http://www.eparrs.com/blog/should-you-use-international-or-local-hosting-servers-benefits-of-hosting-your-website-local/

And for affiliate marketing ... well ... here of course, because US based affiliate marketing sites done right, do best ... leastwise that's my take on it.

Hope I have understood your question properly this time. Sorry 'bout that.

Thank you for the follow, appreciate it greatly and following you back. I definitely understand what you mean by starving, working only for local businesses.

The problem for me is that they don't always know what they want themselves and that's what makes the job difficult and prolongs the job.

Because it is only me I don't want to take on too much because they always seem to all be ready at the same time and I don't want "any" unsatisfied clients.

Glad to have you in my network Trish!
Reply

You are very welcome Sophia, and Thank YOU for following me right back.

I hear you about not wanting unsatisfied customers. That's why I have a 100% guarantee money back if not satisfied ... and, am picky as to whom my customers are. Unsatisfied customers cost any business way to much money. :-))

You're welcome.

Definitely, I need to be more picky! I don't want any unsatisfied customers so I work extra hard for my clients and I'm proud of only having one bad experience because of my second client thus far (besides them taking too long to make a decision on what they want).

I have the work ethic and I have a drive to please my clients and I love having satisfied customers. I just need to pick up more clients with less upkeep but I also realize that this is the beginning and it starts from somewhere.

Have a wonderful progressive day today and a flourishing 2017!

Well Thank YOU Mason, I truly appreciate your following me.
My best piece of advice that I can give you is this ...
Never skip any of Kyle's training be it the Get Started Here (Certification Course) or the Bootcamp training.

Those who have the most difficulty are those who skip either some of most of the training and then wonder why they become confused.

My dad used to have a great saying that I think can apply here too ... Rome wasn't built in a day. In other words, don't expect to build your site and they will come. It takes time ... could be as much as a year ... or two (depending on the niche you choose). So ... don't give up too soon.

Best wishes,
Trish

You certainly have a head start with websites by already being a designer. I do know that you will learn plently here; all the tricks of the trade so to speak. Good friends of mine have a website designer and I must say they don't know these!

Work hard, have some fun and don’t forget to ask questions.

A very nice boss once told me, ‘Helen, when you ask a silly question everyone else breathes a collective sigh of relief because they don’t have to!’ And that is so true. No question is silly so ask away.

Should you need EXTRA help (above and beyond the training) that's what the community here is all about ... helping each other. So, should you find yourself in need of help, be sure as a question to the entire community.

In this way, if I am not online for a few days (which happens sometimes may because I run a business) then others here who are online at the time you are ... they will be able to help you.

Not to worry. If I see a question posted from ANY member whom I can help out with advice, I do!

You're very welcome Phil, and Thank YOU for following me back.

Thanks too for your compliments on my websites.

My personal blog started years ago now, and I tend to use it to keep stuff so I know exactly where to find it (LOL!) or things I want to share with friends and family. I was SHOCKED at how many others have been enjoying my posts ... which spurred me on over the years into sharing even MORE info ... like my rant about Ontario Hydro.

I truly appreciate your feedback on my style of writing ... though I think I sound more like a stuff shirt on my two new affiliate marketing sites ... the other 2 shared here.

Your doing great with your 3 sites Phil. Keep up the learning ... and just make sure to fix any minor spelling errors you find or grammar errors. That's where a lot of sites will lose credibility.

Believe me, I STILL find boo-boos on my posts and scold myself once I discover them ... LOL, sometimes YEARS later when I find them.

From the start, I have written training for every issue I had problems with myself. Wow Dmitriy,

Thank YOU for your offer. Though I stick with website designing because I enjoy it, I KNOW that gamers are the ones who push technology to keep ahead of the demand for abilities for ALL other computer users. So, yeeeeeeeah! for the gamers ;-)

I've only ever tinkered with affiliate marketing and only recently decided to take the plunge to learn it properly. Heck, if I can make $100 US funds tinkering ... just imagine what I could make when I get serious and follow proper educate :-))

The ability to ask for help goes both ways here, so if you have a website design question, I'd LOVE to help YOU out. Don't you just looooove WA?! Makes me feel like I'm back with the crowd I learned HTML from, back in the days of Window 3.1 :-))

Thanks again,
Trish

Hey, thanks for reaching out, Trish!

Windows 3.1 - yeah I remember that one. Gosh, I think I was - how old? 10? Maybe even less. Actually, I had my first experience with it when I was older - Win 95 was already there, I believe. I had just got my hands on an old PC - it had Norton Commander and Win 3.11... I remember playing Wolfenstein 3D on it. And "Home Alone". Those times, lol.

Yeah, opportunities are limitless here, I bet you will be able to earn enough to live the life on your own rules.

I may actually need your help with web design as I know almost nothing about it and build my websites around that lack of knowledge. If you have enough time - and desire to do so - could you maybe take a brief look at my site and tell me how I could improve it? I have it posted in my profile.

Thanks again!

Well Dmitriy,

For a fella who claims not to know much about website designing, you've done a bang-up (great!) job setting up http://lc-games.com/ that's for sure. That's without my conducting an actual website audit, of course.

Is it a Wordpress theme? If so, have you made sure to include an SEO plugin and populate that plugin properly?

If yes, then you're a well on YOUR way to success!
Reply
Dmitriy Premium
Thanks for getting back to me, Trish!

And for your praises :)

Yes, it is a Wordpress theme, but I tinkered with the code a bit, as the basic customization tools weren't able to provide exactly what I needed.

As to an SEO plugin, I have All-In-One SEO Pack, mentioned by Kyle in one of the lessons. What do you mean by properly populating it? So far I made only a few adjustments that were shown in that lesson - nothing else. What else should I do?

Thank you again for all your help - I really appreciate it!
Reply
Triblu Premium
I haven't gone further than Course 1, Lesson 5 myself Dmitriy, so that MIGHT be covered in more detail by Kyle in future lessons.

If not, you could try searching for instructions on YouTube ...and, be sure to find the most recent "how-to" video, as the plugin has changed a lot over the years.

Right now, I'm still in the stages of building my 1st website here. I'm a tad behind ... but have 14 pages to build besides the loading page. Only 3 more to go :-)) right now though ... then I can get back to the lessons to see what Kyle has to say about the SEO plugin.

How far along in the course are you Dmitriiy?
Reply
Dmitriy Premium
Thanks for your suggestion, Trish, I'll surely check out YT.

Wow, so many pages already! I think by the end of Course 1 you barely have the framework of your site with a little bit of info on the main pages. Do you write your content "in advance"?

I'm asking, because that's what I've been doing lately for my second site, lol. I write reviews as soon as I realize I have the time to sit 6-9 hours straight doing nothing but writing :)

As to the lessons, I'm currently at Course 5, Lesson 5.
Reply
Triblu Premium
I've written the loading page and 14 pages that are linked TO the loading page. Each one is offering a different product. I had a REAL tough time finding a niche, so broadened my horizons a tad. :))

Yes, on my own websites, I'm the only one I trust to write my content ... and, yes, I wrote my content in advance.

LOL, you can well imagine how many hours I've spent writing 15 total pages.

WOW! You surely are well into the coursed. Keep up your great progress ... and be sure to let me know when you start earning form your sites. That'll help encourage me on even more.

Hey,

I've just checked out your site (trishparr.com) - looking good! Of course, recipes instantly became my favorite section :)

The other one (localbusinessideas) is also nice, I take it that's the one with 14 pages? The theme looks really good.

About earnings: I can encourage you, as I already earned around $8 from LC-Games. Now I'm trying to make it make more money for me :) I hope this will give you some additional inspiration and motivation to work even harder - I know such things do it for me.

WOW! I've been soooo hoping to be able to leave my affiliate pages here.

Ah shuckers ... too late. I purchased 2 yesterday after our chat.
Next time, I'll check here. Thank YOU so much for your great advice Dmitriy. I truly appreciated it.

Am not pointing the new URLs because the sites are far from ready.

Oh ... did you read the tips regarding posting a clearly written affiliate disclosure on all your web pages? I had forgotten about that issue and spent a couple of hours this morning, posting a disclaimer on all my web pages ... well ... 'cept my contact and disclaimer pages that is.
Reply
Dmitriy Premium
Ah, I don't think that's bad - I actually only found this out myself recently and almost by accident, as I decided to quickly go through some of the lessons again :) Those domain names from other sources work just the same anyway.

Yeah, I read quite a few tips on disclaimer/disclosure some time ago, but still haven't placed them everywhere - just have them on their own pages and that's all. Probably will finally do it this week - thanks for reminding me, btw :))

Hi Trish
Take your time, it's best to go slow and understand all the details, in that way your site will have solid foundation. I did that too at Level 1, slow but surely. Now I'm at Level 2 Lesson 4 and go delayed because I've been pretty busy at the day time work. Which part of US are you in, California.

I love working together as it gives us exponential motivation, inspiration, and brainstorming too. At the same time we also get to know each other and can be the best of friends too ;)

Hey Trish, how's everything coming along now that you've been a member for a few days? I hope you've found your way into the "Get Started Here" training toward the top of the menu on the left and that you're enjoying yourself so far!

Some people gravitate towards the "Affiliate Bootcamp" training which is something I don't recommend right off of the bat if you've never made money in internet marketing before. I have a detailed blog post covering this topic if it's something you're wrestling with and you'd like me to send you the link.

I know that may be a bit confusing, but if you have any questions at all don't hesitate to ask! I hope you're enjoying your time here so far :)

I hope things are going well. I know you are getting rolling within the training and there is ONE thing that always tends to confuse people and that is "what is my niche?".

I know, same thing happened to me when I started.

I just wanted to reach out and let you know that I am here if you ever want to run any niche "ideas" by me or you have any questions about finding your niche.

Get back to me when you get the chance! :)

The niches I'm looking at right now are as follows:
- Anti-Aging
- Beauty
- Gardening - stop critters from eating my flowers
- Pet - behaviour problems like eating poop
- problem barking
- Mole removal
- Building SEO ready websites

Things I'm curious about ... or things I'd like to help others be able to do for themselves.

Thanks for asking pribs!
Reply
pribs Premium
Hey Trish! These are all pretty high-level (besides mole removal, which could be pretty tough to monetize). Try to narrow them down more to a subtopic or two within each niche. Taking on any of these as they are will be too broad and competitive for the training here at WA.

Hey Trish! I wanted to start you off with a quick note that could SIGNIFICANTLY impact your success with Wealthy Affiliate. Read this entire message if you are serious about being successful in internet marketing (it's lengthy, but I'm not joking when I say that this advice could make or break your entire internet marketing career):

1) You'll need to work consistently and hard. There's going to be a lot to learn in the beginning and you may feel overwhelmed at a point, but keep pressing forward and you'll make it through. It happened to me and every other successful internet marketer at some point, and the only way to become successful in this industry is to push past that overload whenever you get there.

Do yourself a favor and commit to a number of hours that you can work each week right now. It doesn't have to be massive, but it should be more than 10 between evenings and weekends at least. Just remember the more you work each week, the faster you'll learn and draw closer to success.

After you've picked the number of hours you can work each week, commit to working that much for AT LEAST six months - a year would be better. You won't see results immediately in this industry, and being consistent is the key. Pick a number of hours you can work each week, then work those hours for at least six months. It's something you've probably never done in this industry, and this advice alone will make a HUGE difference in your chances at succeeding with internet marketing as long as you take it seriously and STICK WITH IT.

2) I recommend starting off with this training (which you can access with your free account): It just scratches the surface of the MASSIVE amount of helpful content in WA, but you'll get a good "feel" for the teaching style here and begin to see the power of all of the great things they're teaching here at Wealthy Affiliate.

3) DON'T FORGET ABOUT THE COMMUNITY. Two of the best places you can go to for help when you get stuck are the "Live Chat" and the "Classrooms" sections located on the panel to your left. You'll find direction and inspiration through the community here, which is one of the reasons I recommend WA so highly.

4) Finally, you don't ever have to upgrade to the premium account here at Wealthy Affiliate if you don't want to. You'll have limited access using your free account for as long as you wish. HOWEVER, if you're serious about internet and affiliate marketing then you should invest in the premium membership for AT LEAST one month. You could look back on it years from now and see it as a pivotal moment in your internet marketing career, but you never will if you don't at least give it a try.

Check it out for a few days though - you don't need to upgrade right now. Make sure it's a good fit for you, and if you upgrade within the first 7 days you'll receive your first month's membership at more than 50% off. I keep my membership active and recurring every month so I can be here for the people I refer like you, so realize that I'm putting my money where my mouth is here!

On top of that, if you upgrade to a premium membership at the discounted rate within the first 7 days I have a special bonus EXCLUSIVE to people that join WA through me and upgrade within the first week of creating their free account. This bonus will show you how to be twice as successful with WA or any other legitimate internet marketing program out there and gives you some very valuable video lessons (which I recorded for you personally, of course) to ensure you get off to the right step in your internet marketing business.

I keep a close watch on the list of people that upgrade from starter to premium, so I'll send the bonus your way within 24 hours. If you upgrade and don't receive it within that time frame for some reason, just post on my WA profile and let me know!

I don't offer that bonus so you'll spring for the membership and make me more money, I offer the bonus just in case you needed that tiny "push" to make sure you invest in this training because I know that you will use for the rest of your IM career and it could change your life. I've referred hundreds of people now and I have NEVER had anyone tell me they were dissatisfied.

Best of luck to you! You're about to embark on a journey that could change your life forever, so make sure you take it seriously, put in the time and effort, and expect great things in return!

You know where to find me,
Ian Pribyl

P.S. I know I've thrown A LOT of information your way in this message, but I wanted to give you one last thing. Here is a video tour of the members' area to help ensure you get the most out of your free membership as possible: http://youtu.be/NDmMcMtMB8c

Sorry for sending so much your way at once, I just want to set you up for success as much as I possibly can!

Thank YOU Ian, I had forgotten WHO directed me here.

Am thinking of creating a blog post like you did, to warn others not to waste their money.

Was doing some due diligence in investigating John Thornhill and his training when I came across your post.

Several complaints have been posted about his training and he has NEVER responded ... not smart. The freebie his offer sent me when signing up for his webinar was soooo riddled with grammar and spelling errors ... WOW!

Anyway ... THANK YOU for saving me nearly $4,000 CND with your post! Though I signed up here way too early as I couldn't become active until today ... sadly, day 5.

Obviously, I have gracefully "bowed-out" of John's training.

Thanks again Ian, for the post you wrote ... and in directing me here!
