About JHaugland

My name is J. Haugland. I am 50-something years old, Norwegian, family man, and I (still) hold a full-time job outside of my online career.

I have been an internet user since 1995 and a user of Bulletin Boards before that. During my professional career I have worked for both smaller and larger companies, mainly within administrative positions and recruiting, and for some time around the turn of the century, I was a part of a team that defined the online presence for the largest Scandinavian temp agency. We had a lot of fun breaking new grounds.

Now I hold a much lower profile job, that gives me less stressful days and time to further explore a long time passion of mine; blogging, Wordpress, and online money making. My job is seasonal so it gives me time to both work and travel in the off-season time.

I have previously set up several websites of my own, ever since the day I memorized all available HTML-codes (in the beginning there were not that many), and hand-coded everything in a text editor.
Nowadays it’s a blast, with Wordpress and pre-defined themes, but still, some understanding of HTML, PHP, and CSS comes in handy, even though it's hardly ever needed.

For the past 14 years, I have also run a small part-time web-design company, helping smaller local businesses setting up a website.

But even though some of my previous and current websites were intended for money-making purposes and some even achieved some success, I never actually got a hang of the total picture until I joined the Wealthy Affiliate community. And I quickly found out that even though I have been doing this for years, I still have a million things to learn.

When I started here I had 4 websites running outside of WA. Three of them are still alive on the outside and are being continuously improved based on what I have learned here. And I have built new websites after I started here, and some are being planned, and they will mostly be hosted within WA.

You will find that I write some blogs in here. Some of the content may differ slightly from what is taught in the WA lessons. If you are new at this and want to learn, pay attention to the lessons and ignore me.
The lessons are the best training available anywhere on the web if you want to learn the basics of building your own business.

Then, read me later when you have enough knowledge to make up your own opinion on what you should do. I am an information seeker that soak up all I information I can on what we do here, and I share my opinion on what I find relevant. When you seek advice in the community, remember that all in here are smart and good people, but some are more experienced than others. So follow the advice that makes sense to you.

I live on the beautiful rainy windy west coast of Norway, and I have my second home in the Philippines where my wife is from, and we try to visit there at least once a year. Together we love to travel, take long unplanned road trips, spend time with friends and family or just relax and do nothing.

If anyone has bothered reading my bio all the way to here, I would appreciate a follow (which of course will be returned). And if I can be of any assistance, just ask. Send me a PM or comment here on my profile. I will do my best to help you out. If I don't answer your PM message right away, I'm probably busy, traveling, sleeping or simply offline. But I will answer eventually, I promise.

Hello Jorn,♫Welcome! Nice to meet you ツ I wish you a lot of learning pleasure and fun on WA. Thank you for following me.

From the start, I have written training for every issue I had problems with myself. I also made a list of 1001 niche ideas, a checklist with 25 points to go through before you publish a post, 101 blogging ideas when you get stuck and an A-Z WA dictionary. I just love lists:) It has been very helpful to a lot of people. I have listed them in one blog you can find on my profile. It's the first website link on the right (click on my picture to get there). I hope to help you with those.

If you have any questions, please add a comment to this message or leave them on my profile.
Success building your business in 2017. See you around, Greetings Loes

Jorn, I see you are making some good progress through the Affiliate Bootcamp. Just wanted to pop by and see if you need a hand with anything?

I also wanted to mention the success rates of Bootcamp. Absolutely everyone that has taken action on all of the phases of Bootcamp has a business that is generating consistent income online. MANY of these folks are going to be at our super affiliate conference next year.

I want this to be you and I want you to succeed with your promotions. So, please promise me that if you ever need a hand or feel stuck as you move forward, that you will get in touch with me!

Trust me, I know things can be a little overwhelming sometimes and I don't want you feeling like that.

Anyways, just checking in. Get back at me if you need anything Jorn.

All good Jorn, site is looking good thus far. Nice work! I like your theme choice, nice and clean as well.

Use clear and concise headlines within your content. You can do this by using h3 tags that break up your content. It will make your content much more readable.

Here is an example of what I mean:

http://waystoavoidscamsonline.com/how-to-sell-your-art-online-paint-yourself-successful

As you scroll down, you will see headlines that break apart my content and foreshadow to my audience what I am going to talk about.

Ex. Art, to be honest, is an EASY sell within the online world?

This is highly effective and will lead to much more readership of your content.

Thanks for the input, Kyle.
I totally agree about H3 breaking up the text, and I will go through everything and adjust,
Blockquotes is also an option, but as of now I am not too happy with the way they are formatted in the theme. Need to look into the CSS.
I think also some of my texts are a bit too long. Any idea on that? I have heard somewhere that more than 5-600 words is not good.

I think you should check out this live class on CSS. It will give you some good insights here if you want to make font/styling changes site wide.

Ideally you want to have over 1,000 words, in some cases they articles will be a bit shorter, some cases much longer. I tend to write until I think I have covered the topic at hand and gotten my point across.

Thanks for all input Kyle :)
I used to be quite good at CSS back when it began replacing design withing the HTML itself.
But using professional themes these days you normally get to adjust the CSS on a very detailled level within the themes settings. And with Elegant Themes that I have used for my site, I find (or can ask for) every other CSS adjustment in the support forum, ready to cut/paste into the custom CSS fields in the theme settings.
And I totally agree with you regarding the length of articles. They should be as long as they need to be. And bruken up in reader friendly segments.

Most definitely, you still have full control with the design and many themes allow you to do this in a much more simplified manner by providing you with code or an interface in which you can do this.

Do let me know if you need a hand with anything at all moving forward. :)
