Hello old timer! Glad to see you love technology. I do too. I experienced first hand and watched computer graphics in animations and FX grew over time. I am so blessed to be part of that beginning process.

You are definite in a right place at the right time. Best wishes in accomplishing your goals in 2018.

Hi Hennie,

Thank you for following. Same old school -i'm 62. I remember late 70's, early 80's, my first encounter with computer, a minicomputer at the University in Grenoble, France - punch cards etc, then came the Apple micros, PCs, programming in Basic, Cobol etc. Thank you also for sharing the kind of love the world badly needs. I wish you all the success, peace and happiness.

I was around from the early days, too, but I didn't work on main frames at that time. I am into Ham Radio, and through our radio-based Packet AX.25 system, we were ON the internet before most people even had a clue that there WAS an internet! That was back in the mid 80s. I am an elder in our little store-front church, so I'll encourage you to keep the faith as well!

I am glad to find you Hennie. I am into mainframe application development. I have a senior colleague at work who speaks about punch cards and tapes. I often ask him that it would have been awesome if he could have kept some of those samples with him. It would be interesting to see them today in comparison to how we punch in multiple jobs today on our laptop.
Thanks!

Yes Subhadeep. In those days it was just mind-boggling what those beasts could do. At a later stage, we installed a carousel with hundreds of tapes inside and an automatic robot arm picking tapes and inserting them into tape drives. Those tapes could store a massive 360 MB of data. Those were the days.
Thanks for connecting

Hi Hennie,

Thanx for the follow, I also worked with computers at the card reader stage but digressed for a number of years eventually getting back into PC's and running a computer support business for small business which put my kids through school.

Now, with a new partner in my life I am exploring the virtues of the internet world via affiliate marketing.

Thanx again for the follow, may your Xmas be good to you and all the best for 2018.

Hey Henniest, care for a caricature? That's ok if you don't want it,
I do it for practice and man this place is a treasure chest of new faces I can practice on.....umm, like yours.

We do have something in common we are baby boomers, lucky to say. I am proud and btw Henniest, We (us) are in the numbers. I mean bigtime numbers. We are not going out quietly, if you know what I mean.

This e-commerce marketing is huge and we play a part of it, no kidding. I'm here for 3 months now and have nothing to show but
my website outside of WA.

But I know this place is exciting for me and newbies who are just beginning their own journey such as yourself. I'm excited for you.
We have over 3 billion of us humans and counting and we now
at the beginning of a new paradyn.(I hope I said it right and mean it right too. lols) but everybody as individuals have something somebody in this world want from you and that is exciting my friend. Ok, enough of my thoughts.

Getting back Henniest, I'm drawing people care for one. I love to practice my skill and put a smile on faces. There's no catch, my professions screams for me to get better and what better place
to place but right here.

let me know my brother from a different mother.

Btw, God Bless you my friend!

Hi Hennie,
It is a pleasure to meet you! I agree with you on giving our Lord Jesus all the glory! My website does just that.
Sounds like you got in on the ground floor in "the computer evolution" and your knowledge and experience will be such a plus here!
Kyle and Carson have given us all a wonderful opportunity to learn and grow here and I am so thankful for them both. This is a very supportive community.

Blessings,

I'm sorry Henniest but my memory goes back quite a bit further than yours :) . With regard to a "main frame" the company I was with had an IBM which had to be fed with punch tapes etc. and took up a huge amount of air conditioned space. It's cost was I believe around £250,000 In the early 60's. (a huge amount of money for that time). Today a £300 desk top computer could cope in place of that main frame.
Like you I'm a Grandparent dare I say also, a Great Grandparent!!
I also believe in our Lord Jesus, The Lord of Lords and The King of Kings.
It's great to have contact with you.

Now it's up to you to establish your goals, blog or website and actualize those goals. You will find plenty of help with that through the Certification course and Affiliate Bootcamp lessons and you always have members to help you if you have questions. .

good day- i'm following you now-- I have a question:
I'm at the part putting in my seo description, and having a problem with my thought pattern. If I'm promoting WA can i use those words (letters) in my description-- something like this 'veterans are making money with the WA affiliate program made easy, not a make money now, but a career.' don't know if i can put something like this in the description part. suggestions please!
Reply
HennieSteyl Premium
Hi. You can use that as it is. Use Wealthy Affiliate instead of WA and make sure that the description also appears in the first paragraph of your review. Hope that help. All the best.

Well we have a lot in common. I started in IT on the IBM 1401 and went to the 360 30 and eventually the fastest and biggest computer (at the time the 155 and 165. I managed computer operation for a major local bank. I got tired of the politics and moved into technical recruiting where I provide recruiting services to the hearing impaired (with technical experience). I learn American Sign Language while at the bank. I moved to the hearing candidates as I wasn't making any money (not that many deaf programmers in 1973) Anyway, I when from mainframe to desktop computing technical placement.

Look forward to more dialog.

I had a look. Well, I can't wait. I wish I can take a long vacation and work on it full time. I am so excited.

Wish you all the best. Blessings.

Hi Hennie,

Welcome to WA!

As you are just new to the community I'd just wanted to pop by and say hi. If you have any questions on how to get started just let me know!

WA has helped 1000's of people over the years build thriving online businesses and the WA platform will provide you the tools and training to succeed as well. If you follow the training and put the work you are at some point pretty much guaranteed success.

This is one of the most supportive & helpful communities I think you'll find online, so if you have any questions I suggest using the Live chat as you will get answers very quickly. Or you can ask questions within tutorials, blogs, or directly to other members on their Spaces.

Here is the initial training that I suggest you get started with:

Online Entrepreneur Certification - Getting Started (Level 1) Welcome once again to WA and I look forward to seeing you around online.

Cheers
