About Paulgoodwin
Joined February 2015
Since 1960, I have been involved with music and audio equipment. It started in my mother’s kitchen by using her cleaning bowls as a drum kit. The next step was when I “borrowed” my father’s acoustic guitar (when he was out) and learned to play it.

At school, I made my first electric guitar and formed a group with the Headmaster playing drums. The fitness instructor playing rhythm guitar, the drama master playing bass and I played lead guitar.

After leaving school, I formed my own group (as most of us did in those days) and was fortunate to meet and play with some great artists who are still with us today.

Recording

My direction changed and I began to work with live mixing and studio recording. I was always able to get a great mix and had the ability to create a musical picture. The positioning and re-positioning of audio equipment in the listening room came naturally to me and was always ready to help friends set up their audio systems and paint that musical picture.

Oil and Gas

In 1970 my life changed when I lost the urge to become rich and famous. I joined the Oil and Gas industry which was a tremendous challenge, but at the same time very rewarding and allowed me to keep up with my passion, high-end Audio. At the beginning of 2015, the oil and gas industry became very slow which told me the industry wanted a rest and many things began to change in my life.

Tannoy loudspeakers

Vilnius, Lithuania is my home and at the end of 2015; I became friendly with a group of Doctors who were all Tannoy Loudspeaker enthusiasts. My new friends were always trying to get the best from their audio systems and when I was able to show them my “System Setup” technique they were impressed to say the least! Please click here to read more.

Doctor’s orders

My Doctor friend advised me to get a name for my cables and bring them into the marketplace. My friend said because my cables sounded so good, every Audiophile needed to know they were available. This was “Doctors orders” so to speak and then by some twist of fate, I found a Canadian company called Wealthy Affiliate with whom I was able to create a website and my journey began!

Please answer the question in the 1st paragraph and share all the helpful info and encouragement you have for me .

Hello Paul, nice to meet you and thank you for following me and I will follow you now. Tremendous career of oil and gas. Sometimes hot ... I just saw your videos and sound both great. I can see that you have good taste for everything. I wish you more success than you have had and you can enjoy it to the fullest. I have always liked music and have recently been interested in drawing or painting. Let's see how this evolves. For now I will be studying as much as possible with WA University to achieve my goals in the future. Have a great day. CYA.

This is a great feature......it is a little hidden, that's all, as it doesn't show up unless you click on that side and make it come up, but I guess that is why you are pointing it out. My website has disappeared from there so I will have to put it back up, but want to do some more work on it first now. Have to set up social media accounts too - have a fairly neglected facebook page, ouch.

Hi Paul! You have an interesting background. I'm not quite as dedicated with music as you are, but I've played keyboards since I was a child.

Nice to hear you're from Lithuania. Your name sounds English though, so did you move there at some point of your life? I'm from Finland, so it's nice to learn about people who live "close by", even though Lithuania is not exactly next to Finland. Globally thinking it is quite close though. Have a great end of the week!

And what an interesting profile and life you have enjoyed.
I visited Vilnius about 4 years ago, purely for pleasure - and what a pleasure it was. A beautiful city full of lovely people. Also you have the most efficient and effective tax system in the world - oh that other countries would adopt your model.

Did you ever create your cables brand?

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the follow. Your early band life slightly mirrors mine. I started out roadie-ing (if there is such a word) in my early twenties and graduated onto sound desk for them. After about five or six years the band went their separate way, but I am still in contact to this day with a couple of them.
I now am on desk once a month for our local church and have a nice 24 channel digital desk to use. So much different from the old Spirit 24 we had :-)

Glad to see you have a site up and running and I wish you all the best for the future.

Hi Paul,
Hope you are well. Please excuse the intrusion.
Robert A suggested that I contact you for some guidance.
I put the Sumome plugin on my site and it works fine for gathering sign-ups. However, in order to have the "Welcome" letter come from my own site address it asks me to place 3 lines of information in the DNS file.
I have no idea how to go about this. ThomasPaul suggested creating a sub-domain but I couldn't see how that would work. Any ideas ? Also, when testing the sign-up welcome mat I cant retest it as I have already signed up !! Any thoughts.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Hi and with the DNS file I do not use that instead I wrote my welcome letter on a page and put the URL into the place where is says so - you just have to read carefully as it took me a few days to realise what to do !

Welcome mat is crap!!!!

slows the site done and prevents a person from direct access so why put a door in the entrance !!!

Hello, Paul. I have just put up a question: Can you switch from AIO SEO on a website to Yoast SEO? Loes answered me and said yes, but gave me your address here and suggested I ask you because you were an expert. I am new enough to be a bit anxious about this and not understanding what steps to take. A Google search sent me to a Yoast site that does lay it out pretty plainly.

Also, should I think about the Premium Yoast? I'm having a lot of trouble with meta titles, keywords, etc., and getting them right. Three of my posts rank high but my website itself can't get higher than page 6 and I can't figure out why.

I would appreciate anything you can tell me about this. Thanks.

Hi. An update on Yoast. I bought it last week and had them configure it for me. I know, should have been able to do it myself, but I have been so frustrated with my website lately and the seemingly never-ending problems that I felt the expenditure was good for my psyche. I absolutely love Yoast and am finally getting my first posts into a better order. Thanks for your encouragement.

Hi Paul, I'm back. Had no success but I think the reason is that I haven't yet reached that level of training yet. My Certification Progress reads Course 3, Lesson 5. Have only just learnt how to add links to my content. Evidently introduces Google Analytics in one of the Bootcamp sessions and although I have done a little work there too, just haven't progressed far enough at this stage. Would love to promote WA but as I read somewhere, there are two hungry wolves in my head: The Certification Courses + The Affiliate Bootcamp Courses. And I'm not sure whether to donate equal time to both or to work at completing The Certification Course first. Would appreciate your guidance, Paul. Roy

Hi Paul. Wonder if you could hand me a pearl of wisdom? I have been training with WA for just on two months now and am at a stage in my training where I have just learnt how to add links to my pages, which was very exciting. I now need to drive traffic to my website. I realise that good content is one of the keys but can't see how good content can be any use if I am not getting traffic there to read the content in the first place ? Please put me in the picture. Would be most grateful. Roy

Hello Paulgoodwin,

Laba diena from San Diego, CA! My fiance is actually from your country -moving to California next month! :) I'm glad you were able to find a way to still become successful living in Vilnius, Lithuania! For a while I thought my fiance was crazy saying, "Most people here don't like each other", but when I visited last month for 3-weeks I did indeed notice people weren't as friendly as what I'm used to. But I also noticed the amount of pay they make over there! People work 12-16 hour days to make like $600 a month! From then, I kinda understood why people aren't as happy there.. At least from my few weeks that I spent there.

Long story short, I can now show my fiance that you CAN be successful no matter where you live. :) So long as you have the right support from the people you are surrounded by.

Best of luck in ALL YOUR ENDEAVORS! :D

Thank you for the follow Paul. What an accomplished career. I'm sure that made picking your niche was very easy for you. Do you build and distribute your own line of audio cables or is each cable order a custom project?

You are a very active member here in the community ... thank you for your contribution. That's a lot of work (1092 WA posts). Usually I wish new followers the best on their WA journey. That somehow doesn't seem appropriate here since you already have achieved the best.

So I wish you continued success on your WA journey.

Hi Paul,

I have a few questions, wonder if you can help me.
1. Why does my website have a siterubix at the end? I have bought my domain.
2. I wrote an about me and when I went back to find it I could not. So I wrote another. Then I saw the first one but cannot bring it back up to join the other one. They can go together. Do you understand this and how do I find it?
3. I thought I added two plugins and activated them but I cannot see where I did that on the site. What's up with that?
4. I have decided on a vendor for my one website. Am I able to put two vendors on the same site or more than two?
5. Google wants me to delete existing MX records. then create new MX records and then create new MX records for B suite. I cannot find the MX records, do you know how to find them.

I know the other day you wrote about support but I failed to make a note of that and now cannot remember how you said to do it. So many things to remember (for an old brain-I didn't say that).
I think that is it for problems.

Today when I went out our Dogwood trees are all blooming along the roadways, two in our front yard and two,in the back yard. They are just lovely. White dogwood trees, Red,red bud trees, and all the new leaves in light green and some with a yellow tinge.

Thank you for helping, I appreciate it.

Hi Paul,
I am experiencing dreadful problems uploading my affiliate links.
The company has a
Target URL: http://info.allaboutlearningpress.com/orton-gillingham-report/
Source Code - Copy/Paste this Code Into Your Blog Post or Social Media post

The target URL takes the prospect to the page and the source code is the link with my affiliate information in it,

When I upload the affiliate link a red rectangle appears around it and states that it is too long.
I went to Bitly and shortened the link -I received a message saying it wasn't a correct URL
I have contacted the company and don't seem to be moving ahead with their support.
Have you any suggestions?
Thank you,
ANN

Good Morning Paul,

With music life is a lot easier I must say. I was fortunate that my. dear parents introduced me to music at a young age. I played some instruments myself. You had an interesting life also with traveling so much, getting to know other people and cultures broadens one's horizon.
Thank you for the follow and good luck.

Hello Paul,
enjoyed reading your writeup. This is my second month in WA. I enjoy music and have messed around with HiFi equipment since my teens. I retired in 2015 , also from the Oil and Gas business when it started to slow down. Used to work with an American MNC in Singapore.Found WA when I was looking for help in the internet marketing business. Happy to know you! Best regards,

Hey Paul, Awesome bio you have. Thought I would hit you with a follow.

I too was in the oil and gas industry. If you have ever worked in Bakersfield, CA that was my stomping grounds for quite some time.

While I got my undergraduate degree in Petroleum Engineering I actually ended up getting a job as a Mechanical Engineer in energy efficiency when the oil market took a turn for the worst.

Now I am a bit more stable than I was in the volatile oil and gas realm, and I have to say I also have much more time to spend here at WA since I'm not on call for emergency situations.

Good luck to you and keep up the good work!

Paul, I loved reading your bio and can really sense your upbeat, fun personality from it! I am a singer who never wanted anything to do with the technical side until here recently when I lost interest in making music because I felt so dependent on other people. I just joined WA a few months ago and recently made the decision that this was going to be my main focus (I do A LOT of different things lol).
Anyways, I wanted to introduce myself and say I appreciate your bio.
I'd love to hear more about your cable invention. I am an inventor myself (and I actually have 2 ideas that involve audio) but the ones I have patents for are in the physical rehabilitation industry and the textile industry...both involve sewing which I don't know how to do. Yet. (Told you I'm all over the place).

Keep on rockin',

Hey Paul

Thanks for the follow. It's always nice to meet a fellow music enthusiast. I first formed a band when I was 16 years old. We lived on Manitoulin Island in Ontario Canada. The island has several small communities so we organized dances every week and charged a small admission. That was my spending money when I was going to school.

Now it is almost 50 years later and I'm still in a band and I live in Sudbury Ontario. I still love music and play every day.

Wishing you good luck here at WA.

Thanks for following me. My name is Donna. I also had a love for music when I was growing up and I sang all over. A girlfriend of mine used to play guitar and we sang together. We had a killer harmony. I would sing as she played guitar. I loved it. Your never too old for music ever.

Hello Paul,

Great, I've finally learned how to use Jaaxy and found 10 very good keyword phrases to boost SEO in my website!
With one of this phrases, I've opened a page on my site and put the SAME keyword phrase in the title, description, meta keywords, 1st paragraph and a few more times over the text.
OK. Another one I have used in a post.

My crucial question is: what I suppose to do with the other 8 keyword phrases?
I cannot open other 8 pages/posts about the same subject in the same website!

I really will appreciate any help.
Thank You in advance.

I just took a peak at your site and it looks pretty well constructed and informative. I hope you are having success with it.

Keep working hard and I presume having some fun and don’t forget to ask questions.

Good day, Paul. I hope you and your wife are well but not snowed in.

I haven't seen any blogs from you the last few days so I thought I'd just drop you a note to let you know that winter is back with a vengeance here. It started snowing yesterday and now, at 11:20 AM today, we now have about 20 CM of fresh snow on the ground with more expected. Temperature is about -2 C, just right for a bunch of white stuff.

All the best....Wayne

What a beautiful story, Paul! It seems so many of us leave our passion to join "the real world," but ultimately, it's our passions that fuel the world and keep us young!! I'm so happy you are back at it and wish you all the best in your journey! Thank you for being such a great inspiration and showing us that our unique talents and abilities are what makes us special! Namaste. Paul.

Hi Paul!

I am a great fan of you so I thought I ask you something. I read from one of your posts here (but I forgot which one) that your site has very impressive bounce rate (56% or something if I am correct).

Compared to that, my one is very bad (90-91%). Now here's the thing - I am not a native English speaker nor I have never lived in any English speaking country. So I am just wondering whether it's about cultural differences or something... Aren't my articles engaging enough or what?

My English has improved but maybe there is something I could (or must) change to increase overall engagement.

Could I ask you to do a little favor? It is easy to render and won't take much time.

Could you check some of my articles. I don't ask you to read them word by word. Instead, when you scroll through them, what do you think of my laungage skill from the point of engagement?

Is my writing style engaging or rather boring? Is it friendly or rather formal (because I write in foreign language I cannot test it myself. Maybe I am missing something crucial)

Ahh... almost forgot it. My site is http://egonsarvreviews.com

I thank you very much :)

Hello Egon

The main problem is just WHAT is your website about????

I visit and see a small title at the top left and below a bit blog of writing about what I do not know and so I scroll down and down and down and down with so many different things all to gather

A blog roll website sucks for doing what you are trying to do and personally I HATE this type of site layout

I thing you need to rethink what you want to say at the top of your site and give a viewer the possibility of going white he wants and not just trolling through the mess

That is what I think the problem is because your texts are all good and pics etc and colors are good

have a look at my site and you will see how easy it is to navigate

hope this helps

Paul

Thank you for the feedback, sir. It's a tremendous help for me. I got sick (the grip virus or something) so I don't have much strength today but I will definitely rethink-redesign my site (I already changed my main menu - just as a first step.)

But I see, I read some of your articles before contacting you - it impressed me how you have such a talent to position musical instruments to maximize the quality of sound. Somewhere you wrote that you had such a good God-given talent (or gut feeling or...) to do that. Well, aren't you doing in my case the same? ...lol

It automatically resembled me that doc (or whoever he was) who invited you to his home where he proudly showed you his system. And while he was proud, you with your friend quickly noticed the deep problems.

Same here, right? ... lol

Well, I had followed the bootcamp lessons and that's the layout they teach there. However, I completely understand what you mean so I am going to work on it.

As for my writing in English - your feedback is encouraging. I still have hope :)

Thank you very much again, sir.

Hi Paul, you may have noticed that i am engaging myself a lot and i am commenting on your posts which are all great. Initially i have read your post and saw a lot of similarities in regards to our passion. Unfortunately as you have more people following you it is tough to remember each and everyones profile. I also started in the music industry at age 12 playing Piano and later on got my first Synthesizer. It is a dinosour now but it was new technology in the 80s. The name of it was Poly 800 from the company Korg. I decided not to go out and play soccer with my friends as i was living in Germany at the time, now in nevada, but rather sat in front of that keyboard trying to create new sounds. Later on, i had 2 recording Studios, one in LA, California and one in a small village near Munich, Germany. After producing some Hit Dance music tracks and R&B tracks in the 90s i have retired from the pro music industry field in the early 2000s, partly because of a shift in the entire industry. Today i am still a tech enthusiast and pursuing multiple avenues in that field.
I have visited the country you live in on 3 occasions. I travelled to Riga mostly on business and i liked it.
Maybe one day i will head out there again.

Cheers

Hi Paul,
You have a very interesting background: both audio and oil industry. My own observation is that we seem to strive better when we follow our passion. And you have found one with your audio niche. Congrats !

I am also wondering if you are originally from Lithuania? It must be a beautiful country over there.
Best.
