About Paulgoodwin
Joined February 2015
I have been involved with Music and Audio since 1960. I started in my mother’s kitchen by using her cleaning bowls as a drum kit. I also “borrowed” my dad’s acoustic guitar when he was out and learned to play. At school I made my first electric guitar and formed a group with the headmaster playing drums, the fitness instructor playing rhythm guitar, the Drama master playing bass guitar and myself playing lead guitar. I also formed my own group (as most of us did way back then) and I was very fortunate to meet and actually play with some of the great artists who are still with us today.

I moved over to working with live recordings and studio recordings and was able to always to get a great mix and this ability has never left me. I found even in those early days that I am ability to be able to create a musical picture in the same way as an artist paints a picture. The positioning and re-positioning of the audio equipment and the position of the equipment in the listening room achieved this and came naturally to me. I was always happy to help friends set up their audio systems and to paint that musical picture.

Oil and Gas

I joined the oil and gas industry in 1970 when I lost the urge to become rich and famous and spent the past forty years working in many countries all over the world. The oil and gas industry was a tremendous challenge, but at the same time very rewarding which allowed me to keep up with my passion – Music and High-end audio equipment.

At the beginning of 2015, the oil and gas industry became very slow and this told me that the industry wanted a rest and so many things began to change in my life. It also seemed that I too was to have a rest, but I am not the resting type. I continued with my passion for Music and High-End audio, which has taken me to what I am doing now.

Home sweet home

I live in Vilnius, Lithuania and at the end of last year; I became friendly with a group of Doctors who are all Tannoy Loudspeaker enthusiasts. My friends were always trying to get the best sound from their audio systems and when I was able to show them my system setup technique I quickly became known as “The Expert”.

My friend (who is a department head in the main hospital in Vilnius) asked me which cables I was using in my system. I told him I made the cables myself and so he asked if he could try my cables. When my friend heard the difference my cables made to his system he was impressed, to say the least!

Doctor’s orders

I was advised by my friend to get a name for my cables; get a website and bring my cables into the marketplace. I was told because my cables sounded so good, every Audiophile needed to know they were available. This was “Doctors orders” so to speak and by some twist of fate, I found a Canadian company called Wealthy Affiliate with whom I was able to make a website and my journey began!

Hello Paul,

Great, I've finally learned how to use Jaaxy and found 10 very good keyword phrases to boost SEO in my website!
With one of this phrases, I've opened a page on my site and put the SAME keyword phrase in the title, description, meta keywords, 1st paragraph and a few more times over the text.
OK. Another one I have used in a post.

My crucial question is: what I suppose to do with the other 8 keyword phrases?
I cannot open other 8 pages/posts about the same subject in the same website!

I really will appreciate any help.
Thank You in advance.

I just took a peak at your site and it looks pretty well constructed and informative. I hope you are having success with it.

Good day, Paul. I hope you and your wife are well but not snowed in.

I haven't seen any blogs from you the last few days so I thought I'd just drop you a note to let you know that winter is back with a vengeance here. It started snowing yesterday and now, at 11:20 AM today, we now have about 20 CM of fresh snow on the ground with more expected. Temperature is about -2 C, just right for a bunch of white stuff.

Hi Paul!

I am a great fan of you so I thought I ask you something. I read from one of your posts here (but I forgot which one) that your site has very impressive bounce rate (56% or something if I am correct).

Compared to that, my one is very bad (90-91%). Now here's the thing - I am not a native English speaker nor I have never lived in any English speaking country. So I am just wondering whether it's about cultural differences or something... Aren't my articles engaging enough or what?

My English has improved but maybe there is something I could (or must) change to increase overall engagement.

Could I ask you to do a little favor? It is easy to render and won't take much time.

Could you check some of my articles. I don't ask you to read them word by word. Instead, when you scroll through them, what do you think of my laungage skill from the point of engagement?

Is my writing style engaging or rather boring? Is it friendly or rather formal (because I write in foreign language I cannot test it myself. Maybe I am missing something crucial)

Ahh... almost forgot it. My site is http://egonsarvreviews.com

I thank you very much :)

Hello Egon

The main problem is just WHAT is your website about????

I visit and see a small title at the top left and below a bit blog of writing about what I do not know and so I scroll down and down and down and down with so many different things all to gather

A blog roll website sucks for doing what you are trying to do and personally I HATE this type of site layout

I thing you need to rethink what you want to say at the top of your site and give a viewer the possibility of going white he wants and not just trolling through the mess

That is what I think the problem is because your texts are all good and pics etc and colors are good

have a look at my site and you will see how easy it is to navigate

hope this helps

Paul

Thank you for the feedback, sir. It's a tremendous help for me. I got sick (the grip virus or something) so I don't have much strength today but I will definitely rethink-redesign my site (I already changed my main menu - just as a first step.)

But I see, I read some of your articles before contacting you - it impressed me how you have such a talent to position musical instruments to maximize the quality of sound. Somewhere you wrote that you had such a good God-given talent (or gut feeling or...) to do that. Well, aren't you doing in my case the same? ...lol

It automatically resembled me that doc (or whoever he was) who invited you to his home where he proudly showed you his system. And while he was proud, you with your friend quickly noticed the deep problems.

Same here, right? ... lol

Well, I had followed the bootcamp lessons and that's the layout they teach there. However, I completely understand what you mean so I am going to work on it.

As for my writing in English - your feedback is encouraging. I still have hope :)

Thank you very much again, sir.

Hi Paul, you may have noticed that i am engaging myself a lot and i am commenting on your posts which are all great. Initially i have read your post and saw a lot of similarities in regards to our passion. Unfortunately as you have more people following you it is tough to remember each and everyones profile. I also started in the music industry at age 12 playing Piano and later on got my first Synthesizer. It is a dinosour now but it was new technology in the 80s. The name of it was Poly 800 from the company Korg. I decided not to go out and play soccer with my friends as i was living in Germany at the time, now in nevada, but rather sat in front of that keyboard trying to create new sounds. Later on, i had 2 recording Studios, one in LA, California and one in a small village near Munich, Germany. After producing some Hit Dance music tracks and R&B tracks in the 90s i have retired from the pro music industry field in the early 2000s, partly because of a shift in the entire industry. Today i am still a tech enthusiast and pursuing multiple avenues in that field.
I have visited the country you live in on 3 occasions. I travelled to Riga mostly on business and i liked it.
Maybe one day i will head out there again.

Cheers

Cool profile. My dad was a well known jazz pianist back in the 70s in San Diego Calif. He played with some big name jazz musicians, regular show at the Del Mar Fair and played with a band called Bill Greens Orchestra. He loved doing jam sessions at our house. Sadly he passed away in 1980 but I'm sure you would of liked to meet and play music with him. Those. were the days when everything was "outtasight!" and live was simpler. Hello Paul, nice to meet you and thanks for the follow. I guess most young men dream of becoming famous musicians. I never did learn to play an instrument but some people believed I could sing. I gave that up when I really started to listen to real singers, in my mind Jazz, R&B and early Reggae. The person(s) who are unsung heroes who make or break a recording are the engineers or sound men. I am a Cerwin Vegas person, because of the bass rather than the highs Tannoys provide, but I do like Tannoys. Given the wireless world do your cables perform better?
Reply
paulgoodwin Premium
Hello Harvey and good to know you have knowledge with Audio and tannoy are the best!!!
Now your question is interesting but it all depends on your system and your ears !!!
Reply
HarveyBrown Premium
Very true Paul, Celestions are also great speakers. I chose CVs over JBs because I played out a lot at dances and parties, so the bass was important. If I were selecting for my personal pleasure it would have been a toss up between Celestions and Tannoys. My hearing was pretty good in terms of highs and mid range, still is, although age is trying to change that.
Reply
paulgoodwin Premium
I am 67 and still hear great but my favourite was Tannoy 15" HPDs and now I use Tannoy 15" with 300 liter cabs and that is something else for the bass!!!
Reply
HarveyBrown Premium
I am 66, hear is still great, but I suspect the real highs and low ends have dropped off, not enough for most people to notice. Your love of Tannoys HPDs is perhaps not what they were built for but from using them in mixing. From what I understand they did provide a deep bass. The cabinetry is why I could not select Tannoys, with all the travelling around they would have gotten nicked and scratched.

It's in the mind NOT in the body - that we feel our age. It's important to have a HOPE for today and tomorrow - bringing meaning to our lives each day when we rise.

WA does that for you (and for me increasingly) - it's amazing how this 'team' - community - concept works at WA. I LOVE connecting with people from Mechanicsville in Maryland, to Saudia Arabia, through to Thailand, Australia and now Lithuania!!

I'm from Aberdeen, Scotland but have lived in South Africa for the past 58 years - I now travel back and forwards to Bingley in West Yorkshire - trying to bring quality to life now that my wife and I have TIME to use.
Thanx for the encouragement.

Dear Paul,
it is great honor for becoming a part of my new network. Thank you so much. It incredible to read your profile about music. I love music too, American old rock n roll, British Rock n Roll, I love guitar and tone. I knew Tannoy Loud speaker, Jensen, Eminence etc. (for guitar amp and hi end stereo) I modified guitar to upgrade tone of guitar by changing the capacitor, (Bubble Bee, Paper in oil) upgrade amplifier tone by swapping loud speaker, but just for fun. I am very exciting to know Professional like you.
So, I wish you all the best at WA, you can tune in your professional background blending with online marketing beautifully and successfully. Thank you so much sir.

So I just took a brief look at all the categories of your website and noticed that you offer to make videos. I'm wondering how much you charge to make a video? I'm interested in having a video maybe half a year from now, but I can pay you now (depending on how much it costs).
Reply
BooBish Premium
One idea seems to be leading to another, so I'd like to share another idea with you. Well, I noticed that the videos that you have on YouTube with music on them have really good sound quality, and so I'm wondering if that's because of your Perkune audiophile cables? And if so, my opinion is that you ought to mention that somewhere. Also, my suggestion is that you create a video (if you haven't already; of note, I haven't watched EVERY ONE of your videos or looked at EVERY PAGE of your website) of you playing the guitar with your audiophile cable hooked up, and then shoot another shot with you playing the same guitar with a different competitor's audiophile cable hooked up. That is, if you have another competitor's audiophile cable already and, if not, you can wait when you have the money. This would SHOW how your audiophile cable makes a difference in the sound.
Reply
paulgoodwin Premium
Hello my dear and thank you for your words now I have many different cables and always compare then when I visit a customer and he also compares my cables to his and most of the time my cable sounds better and I will actually take your advice again and write something along these lines and thanks once again for you support !!!

BooBish Premium
Sure, I'm glad you like my ideas.
Reply
paulgoodwin Premium
Keep them coming!!
Reply
BooBish Premium
Just another idea that came into my head that I'd like to share, Paul, is regarding the title/s of your YouTube videos. You may want to re-title it something like "Former 70s Rocker Presents Perkune Audiophile Cables." That way, if someone types keyword "70s rocker" in YouTube, they'll likely see your videos. I have a feeling that not many people at all will likely type in keyword "audiophile cables" on YouTube and I'm assuming Perkune isn't a household name.
Reply
paulgoodwin Premium
wow that is am amazing idea
Reply
BooBish Premium
Yes, it is, isn't it? LOL I love it when I get amazing ideas. On second thought, I thought maybe "Former 70s Rock Musician Presents..." rather than "Former 70s Rocker..." I think "presents" rather than "offers" is a subtly more effective word because presents doesn't sound so much like you're trying to get someone to buy something (as we know, selling something to someone needs to be subtle). Also, "presents" sounds a little more exciting. I think maybe "70s rock musician" is more likely to be typed in as a keyword than "70s rocker"? That's my intuition speaking, for I haven't used the keyword tool on this. Another suggestion is that you may want to show the phonetic pronunciation of your brand name Perkune on your website, as in: Perkune (prounounced purr as in cat and kune) or some other way to emphasize the brand name, as I also don't know why you chose name Perkune.
Reply
BooBish Premium
Being a non-technical sort of person, this is my conjecture of what may be partly the problem you're not making more sales. It's because you don't explain on your website (as far as I can see) what exactly are audio cables for and HOW your audio cables are better than other audio cables. I'm assuming there are plenty of people who don't even understand exactly what audio cables are and how they affect/improve sound. Your website seems to presuppose that everyone already knows about audio cables.
Reply
paulgoodwin Premium
Hello and I thank your for your words. You certainly do have a valid point and I could never imagine how a person could not understand a simple Hi fi system but then again you did not and so many like you right?
I will have to think of something and thank you
Reply
BooBish Premium
Yes, my intuition tells me if I don't know exactly what audio cables do and how they affect sound and what exactly makes one audio cable more effective than another, then plenty of other people don't know either. And it is PLENTY of people that you want to reach, after all, not just limited technologically-minded audio people.
Reply
BooBish Premium
One more suggestion is that if you decide to explain HOW audio cables work to affect sound and HOW your audio cable is better than competitors (perhaps some kind of special thingy in yours?), it would be more far-reaching to explain it in a simple and fun way that even a 4th grader can understand.
Reply
paulgoodwin Premium

Honestly, I'm personally not interested in audio cables and amplifiers. But I guess that clearly explains things. But what is it about Perkune audiophile cable that differentiates it and makes things sound better from competitors? And why is your company called Perkune? I think this should be stated on the static homepage. I like the music motif on YouTube video "Audiophile Cables By Perkune", BTW, which sounds retro.

Paul asked a question today about why I have Four Web Sites that are under construction. So I thought I would provide a better answer than my first attempt. Of course, this answer may not be any better than the one I provide for the question "where does the light go when you turn it off". But here goes.

I now have five websites "indexed" with Google. The only pages on each of the sites is a Privacy Policy so far. Everything else is in my notes, my Bamboo Spark or Evernote, or my worst place to store things - my head!

Ready for the why? I am not completely sure which direction I want to go with "several" passions so before I forgot them or the domains were taken I registered the sites. I did two when Kyle had the "fire sale" on new websites. For less than the cost of a Happy Meal, I could register domains. I am working on ideas for all five of the sites. Some may survive, some may go away after a year.

This means that for every course and every lesson I am doing things five times. Since I consider myself to be a little slow on the learning curve (not intended to be a self-deprecating statement - rather a statement of fact), I thought this would be a good way to "practice" each of the courses and learn at the same time.

I may add even more domains, who knows. I think I should create a domain on Wealthy Affiliate members (like Rick of CosmicRadio) to show the world the abundance of good will, intelligent, problem-solving, creative, kind and sharing people we have in our community.

Not sure if that makes any sense to Paul or anyone else. But (here comes the self-deprecating statement) no one has ever accused me of being the brightest bulb on the tree.

Happy Weekend to All,

Steve

Paul if I have not welcomed you to WA Premium I am doing it now. I have read your bio and It is very interesting and also a bit distracting. Your experience with sound equipment can be very useful for a site. I see you have several already. My intention is to visit and make comments on them. For now, I am providing a critique of your content on your intro page. I like to critique content whenever I can and give helpful feedback. The feedback that most of us need is in the area of spellcheck. In a nutshell, my suggestion is to spellcheck your bio, etc. There are a number of misspelled words that has to be corrected for a purposeful meaning. I hope what I am commenting on will be of help to you Paul and please do take a look around at the words and decide to provide a check on the spelling. This is not meant to be a negative post but a useful one. I hope I have provided a useful way to enhance your sites content for now and in the future. Welcome to WA.
