Hello dear WA Community.
I'm keen to see examples of some great blog post layouts. Not the blog roll, but the blog post. This could be your blog post or ones you've seen th

Interesting thoughts.

The blog post is customizable per your theme.
Not all themes are alike.

The blog archive page itself is not customizable, per se, yet you can set the blog archive page layout as 'default template' or 'theme.'

You can set up the blogroll as the home page, or you can create a blog archive page where your posts will land. This can be achieved in Settongs>>reading, where you set up the static home page and blog pages.

You can customize that blog archive page by selecting the number of columns the blog archive page will show, wherher to include side bars, image above ir below title, etc.

As Phil has mentioned, I too have a few websites listed oj my profile that tou are welcome to take a look at my blog posts as well.

Hi Melissa

I am new to this and this is the first time I heard about Thrive suite. Thanks for asking the question.

From the many responses below about it, you should have the information that you need to decide if it is something you want to use.

All the best

Hi Jackie, yes I posted this question quite some time ago. I purchased the thrive suite and it’s great.

Hello My dears,
Thanks to your post about thrive theme Melissa.
I am a beginner at WA and I have read a lot just today about building mailing list and landing pages, especially with thrive plugins and I am interested in subscribing the plugin.
My question is this: Shall I use both plugins the one for mailing list and the other for building my landing pages?
Through the blog I read I come to understand that the thrive architect also has the mailing list building fonctions. Is this right or did I confuse?
Shall I get the first, the seconde or both?
Thank you

Hello, It takes time that we know and learning your lessons is really very important know that even without those lessons and learning you will achieve your goals. It takes a lot of time, I agree with you. But you must first learn and sow that until you can go east. You also don't build a normal business in your life in a day or week. That also takes time? a business also takes time. But patience will be rewarded, believe it. try to spend as much time as possible learning the lessons. read books cd listen to people who have already done it be patient with yourself. then psd the success will come your way. hopefully this lesson has something that you can use. it is meant as a wise lesson and I know because I have missed many things because of my impatience that I could otherwise achieve with success. I wish you good luck and know that you can do it and give rejection no chance. Every change becomes a win-win situation.
And you come closer to your goal. have a nice day Peter.

I am a thrive Themes subscriber. Thrive Themes tag line is For Affiliate Marketers by affiliate marketers. They live up to the mission. Architect allows you to build anything you want. Their plugins are specifically designed to support affiliate marketing.

If you are building sites for IM I recommend them. If you are building sites for other purposes you might want another theme.

They used to have 20 or 30 themes and 100s of plugins. They recently made the business decision to have two themes and half a dozen plugins. As I said, Architect is all powerful and you can develop any look you want. The plugins all support important feature an IM needs. They are tightly integrated into Architect and do not slow your site load.

There support is great both in terms of tutorials and I never fail to learn something new from their newsletter.

5 Stars for any IM.

I use Content for its free pictures. I do my original writing in Google Docs. Docs produces an HTML doc and copy and paste into my post works perfectly. Everything goes into the proper blocks and I need to do very little editing

Hi Melissa, I have the Thrive membership and it's the best thing I've ever done. My favorite features are Thrive Architect which is amazing and just keeps getting better and better, and also Thrive Leads.

You could use Site Content with Thrive, but I don't see any reason to do so really. I compose my posts right within Thrive Architect. I do use Site Content to save drafts of stuff I'm working on for the future though, but I do not publish anything from there directly to my blog. Here is one of my sites that uses Thrive Themes. Feel free to have a look - https://stillenroute.com/

Thanks very much Mary-Elle!
Much appreciated :)

My experience is the same as Martins, though not been using it as long, but now I wonder why I waited so long to get the membership option

Well well worth it and it makes WordPress fun

Thanks very much Dave!

If it helps further, I would suggest going for the membership option, because, initially, while you may not think you will use ALL the various products, as time goes by, you find you do and buying individually, is more expensive than the membership option

Equally, and this is just my experience of it, you will find you won't want to use any other editor.

Hi Melissa

I have been using thrive products for a few years now.

Thrive architect is amazing as this will help you build pages and posts very quickly.
I also use a thrive theme on my main website which I have had no issues with at all.
The support is great too, if you ever need them that is.
They have a You Tube channel too where they show you how to use different elements and create professional looking pages.
I would fully recommend it I have done some tutorials on my Youtube channel and on both my websites if you need convincing more... lol
All the links are on my profile.

Trust this helps in your decision

Martin

Thanks very much Martin.
I do hear excellent things. I guess I have a nagging worry that I'm not tech savvy enough for it but perhaps I need to give myself more credit than that.

With the Architect component, can you use that with SiteContent, or do you create the posts directly into the Architect editor?

Thanks very much for your help.
Cheers
Melissa

Like every new tool it will take some practice to get used. No techie is needed at all.
You would build your pages in the thrive architect builder which is separate from the WordPress editor so no need for site content. Although you can still do site content and post in normal editor if you choose.

Martin

Thank you for the repply. I was searching this info.

Glad it has helped you more info on my websites if needed

Thanks so much Martin. Your sites look fantastic. I think I need this!!

No problem happy to help

Hi Melissa,

I've been a Thrive Themes user for years and absolutely would not be without it.

The Themes themselves are excellent and I honestly believe that Thrive Architect is simply the best WordPress editor there is.

They have too many plugins for me to list them all here but the include opt-ins, quizzes and various widgets.

Their training is first-class and they actually have a Thrive University which runs courses on all their products.

Have a look at my website https://agingslowdown.com. It's hosted on WA and uses a Thrive Themes theme. All of the posts have been created with Thrive Architect. The posts list in the sidebar is a Thrive widget.

Click on Articles in the menu. That's a single page with a Thrive widget that causes it to be automatically updated every time I create a new blog post.

If you get Thrive Themes, I'll be more than happy to help.

I've recently become an affiliate for them. I've created a new website thescamwarrior.com. In the sidebar, you'll see affiliate links for WA and Thrive Themes. This is a new site for me and it has just one post, but I aim to make it an authority site in the internet marketing space.

Naturally, I'd be thrilled if you were to acquire Thrive Themes through my link :-)

Thanks so much Phil!! Really appreciate that.
I will absolutely check out your pages. I forgot about the affiliate aspect so I guess that's another bonus.
If I do purchase it I'd be happy to go via your link :)

Off to check out your pages now ...

You use Thrive Architect to build your content directly. It's much better than
Site Content
Gutenberg
WP Classic

You don't need to be tech savvy and I'll be happy to give you the Cliffs Notes version to get you up and running quickly.

Hi Phil - what is Cliffs Notes?

Sorry, it must be a local reference only. Cliffs Notes are summaries produced for schoolkids to make a subject easier to digest.

I just meant that I would write an easy to understand guide covering the basics to get you up and running quickly on Thrive Architect and other aspects of Thrive Themes.

Oh! Thanks Phil, that would be really handy, I'd appreciate that.

Great, I'll probably build it out into a lead capture giveaway e-book on the scam warrior website.

Did you manage to take a look at either of the sites?

Hi Phil, yes I looked at both of them.
They look clean and uncluttered which is exactly what I'm looking for. I can tell that Thrive is a quality product by seeing your sites.

My site uses a free theme and it just doesn't look nice to me.
I think I'll do it. I want my site to look professional.
I'll also build a business blog site for my husbands new technology business so I think it will be worth the money.

Thanks Phil.

No worries, Melissa. Just let me know when you're ready to start so that I can offer you help.

Hi Phil,
I just made the purchase - I did go through your link so I hope you got the affiliate commission. I did read though that cookies last for 2 years (?) and I had previously clicked on a thrive review several months back so it's possible the original poster got the commission. Anyway I hope it's gone to you!
I'm yet to upload onto my site, I'll aim to do that tomorrow.
Thanks again for your help.
Cheers
Melissa

Thanks, Melissa. I always clear browser cookies before making an affiliate purchase to avoid this issue.

Let me know whenever you need some pointers.

Oh I hadn't thought of that. Thanks for the tip

I've just checked my affiliate account and it has been credited to me. It's awaiting approval.

So thank you so much and, as I said, very happy to help you get up and running.

Oh fabulous!!

Like I said I'd completely forgotten about the affiliate aspect of this when I'd posted my original question. When I've got my site looking good and I have a handle on it I'll be promoting it too. It's a great product and hopefully it will pay for itself!

Hi everyone,
Yesterday I became a certified commenter for the first time (yay!) and I'm not sure how the credits work once you reach 50+ comments for the month.
It seems

Big congratulations, Mia.

Wayne

Thanks Wayne!

Don't forget, payout is on the 1st of the month, and you have to actually claim it before that date if you want it. Or you can let it rollover for as long as you want, and keep adding to it.

Thanks Diane

Congratulations Mia.

Thanks Maxine :)

I'm pretty sure it depends on approval (makes sense) that it alternates as you suggest but that it's not for the month, but for the past rolling 30 days.
I've recently also become a certified commenter (though I always seem to leave much longer and dare I say better comments than I receive) so I'm watching this with interest.

Thanks Phil

Looks like you got your answer. Congratulations on becoming a Certified commenter.

Thanks Michael

You are correct, you get $0.50 for every other comment and a community credit for each one you don't get the cash for (again, every other one). You need to maintain the prerequisites on a daily basis. (i.e. if you have 6 comments dropping off from 30 days ago but you only added 5 today, that may take you to 49 and you'll no longer get the cash credits until you hit 50 again, so it's a daily revolving check to make sure you met the requirements in the past 30 days)

Thanks very much Scott. It makes much more sense now :)
Cheers
Melissa

Any time!

Here is some explanation

Thanks so much Loes!

Congrats! Yes, they alternate. I think the actual cash credit posting depends on when they approve the comment.

I have gotten to were I do not pay that much attention.

Enjoy! I've found site comments to be very educational.

Thanks Sondra!

I think some people just have trouble understanding some of the training. I know i'm new here and i'm not that greatly schooled.

Hey Melissa,

Apparently, due to the new rules laid out by the GDPR there is no means for WA to reveal the owner of the website.

In the past, when I came upon a website like this, I would click on the Contact page or the About page to find out more about the owner.

Once you have that you MIGHT recognize the member's image IF they used the same image (as they should) on their About page.

If not, then use their contact page. If that is not available either then there is little else you can do to assist the member.

This is exactly why we are taught to follow the training. Some members prefer to circumvent the training and do so at their own peril.

Hope you find this helpful.

Thanks very much Trish. I didn’t realise this was a gdpr thing.
Many thanks
Melissa

One of the members mentioned this a few days ago no... that SiteSupport USED to be able to reveal the owner of the website, but since the GDPR ruling came into being, they could no longer provide that info.

One bad apple...........

Yikes... am I Mark?

Not you. People ruining the new site comments.

Oooh... gotchya' :-))

I'm glad you brought this up. I've been frustrated by this almost since I joined this past June. I've taught English to non-native speakers for several years. One thing I discovered is that some people who have weak English skills can become quite defensive if they think they are being judged or criticized. That can explain being attacked when you try to help them. It certainly doesn't explain the spammers and those who have chosen to skip the training. I'm at a loss for that group! I hope someone can help with this.

Did you try to get in a hold the owner of website

Great! That is the spirit of a passionate blogger. Please, keep it up.

Israel Olatunji

Great question Meissa and needed as so much of the content platform is spam infected now!

Hey Melissa, thanks for that ,this is really serious... once you give feedback to some people they become rude and some people think that they will make it by skipping the training... they dont care about anything all they want is to make money.

I also did give feedback to somebody else and and it was like war. I wonder why some people dont even use the simple ABC check which is very great to use.

Melissa,
Did you check to see if they had an about me page I have in the
past looked for one of those and not been able to locate one
this is a problem not being able to identify the author and letting them know they need to make repairs.
Susan

One of them was an About Me page. The names don't necessarily correspond and I can't find them.
I was on a page just now and honestly it is so bad I just won't comment on it. I'll go back later and hopefully there is something else. And I'm not being harsh, these websites have NOT followed the training and they simply don't make sense.

Melissa,
I tried to help a member through PM with his website
I felt really bad because I know he either did not
understand the training or skipped over way so much
of it - so I did what I could and then PM'd him back
and told him to go back and do the training over again!!
Harsh and rude is not in my personality but he did
not have but one page on the site????
We need to be honest with new people and they are
putting stuff off for comments that I cannot leave one
on :(

This has been my experience too. I don't want to get penalized for refusing to leave a comment. Then again, some don't provide enough information to base a good comment on.

Hi all,

I have two things I'd like your input on please.

I am wanting to know how to add tables and tables of contents to my posts. I don't know if I need a plugin

Hi Mia, I can't do any better than Marion with an answer. All the best.

When you install the Gutenberg plugin, or when Gutenberg becomes part of WordPress core, you will find tables are available as blocks. In the meantime you can use WP edit plugin

There is a plugin for tables of content. go to plugins > add new and search. Or you can create one manually

Thanks very much Marion. You are a fountain of a knowledge!

I use exactly the same theme and page builder as Bald Eagle. I too use the free version of Elementor but have premium Generate Press GP. My second year now with GP and in my second year I got 40% discount. Unlimited websites with GP and full payment for the first year is only $39.99. Tom Usborne is the developer and the support is really fantastic. I highly recommend GP and free Elementor. And Elementor free version is so good I am not sure why it is free.

Thanks Brad, it's great to hear you echo Lawrence's experience with Elementor. I'll have a look at Generate Press GP too.
Thanks so much!

Melissa
I was in exactly the same boat as you recently, did you not see me paddling away and getting nowhere?

Then someone handed me a MOTOR and I have never looked back.

Seriously take a look at installing Elementor (its a plug -in) which solves all your problems. The only thing is that it works with selective themes. Use the Generate Press theme and you're good to go.

I am using the free version and it does all I need - there is a paid option for Elementor that you could look at too.

Hi Lawrence, sounds like we've had the same issues!
Thanks so much for your response - I will look at Elementor and the theme you suggest. Would you mind sending me your site so I can see it in action?
Thanks Lawrence and I'm glad you've gotten past paddling :)
Cheers

Hi Melissa,

I use Easy Table of Contents Plugin. It's really easy to use. It's based on your heading type ( H1, H2, H3, etc. ) After you install and activate it, scroll down to the bottom of your post editor and place checkmarks for the heading types you want to be in your table of contents.

Hope this helps,

Monica

Thanks very much Monica, I will check that out.
Cheers
Melissa

You're welcome... let me know if you have any questions on it.

For your MMO niche.. I just purchased Authority Pro theme last night from StudioPress and it looks quite impressive. But I'm really new in that theme.... I can't say any good about it other than the demo was quite nice.

I hope you get some good responses to the theme recommendations.

Monica

Thanks again Monica. I don't really know what I'm doing when it comes to themes ... but I will certainly take a look at the one you suggest.
Cheers
Melissa

You're welcome... don't purchase it if you're not ready yet. But the demo is great.

Cost is $129.00 USD.

Monica

Hey Melissa,

For training and blogs on Table of Contents, see screen print below...

If you prefer a plugin you can Google search for a "wp plugin table of contents" (without the quotation marks, of course).

Hope this helps you.

Thank you Trish, I will do that. And I should have done that earlier :)
Cheers
Melissa

Yeah it takes a while to search business related questions in WA search tab before Google :)

Adding tables and toc - is this theme or plugin related?
