Good to meet you all here at WA.
Real name David Buckley but everyone calls me Bux or Buckers.
My over-riding passion is France. Absolutely love the country and before this Covid plague I passed many weeks each year visiting friends, adventuring or just sitting taking coffee in the square. If I ever disappear, you will find me sat on the benches on the sea front, opposite Queenies restaurant in Nice. Join me for a beer.
My expertise is electrical engineering, I’m an Incorporated Engineer, and this career has taken me around the world several times. With 40 years experience in the electro-mechanical world my contracts have included working on a whole range of equipment from every area of industry - from testing brake pads for London buses to engine parts for military aircraft. From testing machines for the Royal Navy to installing research equipment for rocket research in India (does that make me a Rocket Scientist – ha-ha).
A lot of time was spent in Africa and India working on some very interesting contracts. My time with a Japanese company saw me in Indonesia and Singapore, as well as HQ in Japan. I never learnt Kanji, I used to have a notebook with all the train station name boards in Japanese and English and just compared pictures at each station. It worked, most of the time.
I love having a go at things and certainly we all like to win – but if you don’t fall down occasionally how will you know when you are doing things right.
One of my favourite sayings – Stand back up and face the action!
I just love teaching others now and this has been my main source of income over the last 15 years or so. I think it is very important that we pass on knowledge to the younger generations and it gives me a definite buzz to see these young kids some 10 or 20 years later, as adults, making their own successful way in life, some with their own businesses and to think that perhaps, just perhaps, I helped in some small way to get them started.
And what of WA? My interest is YouTube, and I make training videos for electricians. Currently there are well over a hundred videos on the channel, plus many additional posts, all about electrics. I have the website hosted with WA, and they really are very helpful. The name of the website is LearnElectrics.com and really, it speaks for itself. I use the website to drive traffic to my YouTube channel which is also called, not surprisingly, LearnElectrics. If you get the chance, go and have a look at the website and the YouTube channel, well worth it, even for non-electricians.
And what about my car – you’ve guessed it. Bright red, the sports model of course, with personalised number plates - BUX
I wish you all well, make your plans, stay focused on your goals and give things time – it does work.
Still charging after all these years
Take care

Bux, I believe you mentioned that you are a teacher now and that you set up and record engineer items on YouTube. Does this mean you have attached yourself to a location or are you still traveling to far-away places.
Wouldn’t It have been fun to learn 300 words in each language you were stationed at?

I'm taking my time compared to Jan. 2019 when I was all over the board panicking over it all.
This time I go at it slowly read everything and take more time to absorb what I need to so I remember what to do.
as I have some problems remembering then will ask for assistance/help in what I'm doing then.
I have just started and was thinking of doing something on pets or youtube.

I live in AZ but that was on yt short for YouTube. I gave you the title of the video. So go youtube. In the search type in the title. It should come up. I just took pictures with my phone to record some of them from the video. Because you can stop the video and take a picture.

Hello Bux, thanks for the follow, and I am following you back.
I enjoyed reading your bio, and about your three passions. I can relate to each in a small way.
We had a French foreign exchange student for about six months so I learned a little bit about France. It sounds lovely.
Most of my adult life, I grudgingly cooked, but now that I have more free time, I'm learning to like it more, mostly cooking in cast iron.
Our youngest son graduates next May with his degree in engineering, though his focus is more on computers. It was all him because I know nothing about it. He is way smarter than me (in fact, all my kids are).
It's super great that you enjoy passing on your knowledge to the younger generation.
And now you have WA. Has your background helped you much?

Thanks Lynn
I prefer to use cast iron for cooking too.
Engineering - he will never go wrong. There was no Covid when I was a sprogg of a young engineer so I was able to travel the world. Things are different now - at the moment.
Take care and keep focused.
If it is to be, it is up to me.
