Keyword with higher traffic or better serp results (low da)?
Hi all

Hey Padraigin,
Why not simply use BOTH keywords. Sometimes I find three or four keywords to use. You're not suppose to use any one keyword more than 3 times within a 1000 word post, so when I find more than 1 keyword to use, I feel lucky. ;-)
What is DA?
Hi Trish
DA is Domain Authority. I have the MozBar on my browser so I can see both page authority and domain authority on all sites.
Without thinking about it, looking at how similar the phrases are, I probably would have used both within the content without even realising it.
I am still curious to know though what people think about which metric is more important, the amount of traffic or how competitive the competing pages/sites are that you're trying to rank against.
Myself still being in the early stages I would take the low competition keywords. However I feel if you have good rankings already then go for the harder competition...

I think I already know the answer to this question but I'm gonna ask it anyway in the small and unlikely hope that I'm wrong. I noticed a little while ago that I hadn't had any
This has made me think, had a theme before joining WA, but was in the mind to change it for something that I wanted, also to save money, now I am not sure, as I do not really like the theme that I have.
Sadly, you should follow the advice and start the job with changing your theme.
I fully understand authors of themes that give up on keeping up with the ever-changing requirements of Wordpress.
That I why I always recommend going for premium themes from well-known authors. Our business depends on the uptime, security, and functionality of our sites. The job of changing the theme and losing business and traffic while doing so may well by far exceed the $60 price tag for a premium theme.
Thanks
I was actually thinking about that. I now fully understand why people choose premium themes. God only knows how often you'd have to keep doing this otherwise.
You can still find good free themes by known authors, but they are most often light versions of premium themes and will lack some functionality.
And you will want that functionality :)
But before you choose a premium theme, do very thorough research. It's not fun to pay $60 for something that is not as you expected. Over the years I have done that numerous times.
Also, when you change the theme, pay attention to the permalink structure and make sure it stays unchanged. Some themes tend to want to mess it up.
If the permalink structure changes you lose all achieved ranking.
I have two blog posts that are related to this: How I choose themes for my websites Changing theme - the hard way
As long as the theme is still compatible with the latest WP version, it should be still functioning.
Maybe you can try this troubleshooting. Sometimes it works.
1. Ask site-support for the latest backup file they have.
2. Change to the default theme of wordpress.
3. Then change back to the your theme. If this does not solve the problem, reach to site-support if they can restore to the last backup of the site before the wp update.
Hope that helps a bit.
:)

Bad idea to keep using an abandoned theme, you're just setting yourself up with problems, especially security issues and security holes.
Totally agreeable if it is confirmed the theme is abandoned. In this case it is not confirmed if the theme is no longer compatible with the latest version of WP. The troubleshooting is to see if the theme is really not compatible with WP.
The message shows that the theme has been abandoned and is no longer supported or being updated - time to ditch it and get a new one
Unfortunately the child theme will do you no good as it's associated to your theme.
As the theme has been abandoned it's best to get a new theme, because things will just become problematic has you move forward as this theme cannot be updated or supported opening you up to security issues and holes
Thanks Leo
I was trying to tell myself it wasn't so. Darn it, I guess I better get to work on it asap.
Leo is totally right abandoning any theme or plugin when it is not being developed so do it for your plugins as well

There are lots of social media plugins that could save you trying to figure it out on your own. But if you really want to do it then try this: Image Grid or Gallery With Custom Links But that's another plugin...
Thank you Marion (sorry, I was sick the last few days so I've only just seen your reply). Yes, I was really trying to do it without another plugin. I'm already using SumoMe for social sharing but unfortunately, it doesn't have a social follow feature.
It's quite frustrating really because it's supposed to be very simple, the buttons come directly from the developer section of each of the social media sites and it should be a straightforward copy and paste.
I guess their layouts are all formatted differently so I may need to consider displaying them differently (not in one horizontal line) to hide that fact until I'm more proficient at HTML. I'm already using their larger profile feed widgets/badges (which are very cool) so I could get away with not having the smaller buttons at all but it would be nice to have them at the top of my sidebar as well.
I'm sure with some trial and error, I'll figure it out. :)
I don't use much HTML these days. WordPress has got just about everything figured out with plugins.
That's true, It's typical of me to try doing things the complicated way, although it's wasn't supposed to be complicated when I started it :))
Yes, I've tried changing it up and down but it only seems to move the Facebook button so I'm now wondering if I've input the code either incorrectly or in the wrong place.
Interestingly, if I move the buttons around and put the Pinterest button first (right after the line height code) it places the Pinterest button directly above the Facebook button. :(

Unless there's some sort of "exclusivity" clause in your affiliate agreements, there should be no problem at all. As far as I can tell, Amazon doesn't have any such restrictions on your mixing its affiliate links in with those of any other companies.
Thanks a million Bob. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to make the big "A" angry. They seem to get angry quite easily :). I don't even know where I got that idea from. Thanks for your response.
