I'm planning to start a new website which will consists of mainly photos; very little text contents.

My question is : What should I do to get it indexed on google?

Hi Usiba,
I had a couple of posts with mainly images and they got indexed much quicker than ones where text was predominant. Now, I use images whenever I can.
I hope this was helpful

Alex

Oh yes my dear friend, very helpful.
Thanks for sharing.
You are so kind.
All the best my dear friend.

Use Pinterest. It’s ideal for what you’re contemplating.

Thank you my friend.

As Coach said below, you will need to shift your expectations for the purposes of a blog that is related to images and photographs.

I would think that you might even be hoping for your photos to show up in the Google image search for keywords.

In the world of images, Quality counts. So does an detailed accurate description of what is in the photograph with "low hanging fruit" keywords.

For example, don't try to rank for chicken or brown chicken. Try to be more detailed as brown silkie chicken.

I just did a test google search the term Silkie Chicken and then on silkie chicken eggs. On the egg search, there is so little quality competition that ebay listings with photos of Silkie chicken eggs showed up.

The post that I randomly choose to look at from first page had lots of cute pictures of silkie chickens and some content but the focus was on the photo.)

Good luck!

OK, thank you Sondra for your reply.

It is possible. Once you upload the image you should be able to write a description and title of that image in a form connected to that image on wp. It's not visible to anybody that sees the image, but google sees it and ranks accordingly.

Thank you Rosemary. Just have a look at my reply to our friend "Memorylaneuk" below. Would like to know what you think.

If it has a good Keyword title and an opening explanatory paragraph with Keyword in it and a closing paragraph too then you should be okay.
You will need to make sure your images have titles and alt text attached too. Using good keywords in these will also help.

Thank you Karen. But the description can be around 100 words or less. Won't be able to write 500-1500 words. So I guess this will be a great disadvantage for google ranking.

It will only be a disadvantage if the keywords aren't effective. It's not so much about the quantity, but the quality, so choose your words wisely. Remember Google doesn't read the whole content, it just scans it looking for certain keywords.

I'm planning also to do that. Let's hear from them.

Good.

Only photo's will bring you nowhere. It is the keywords in the text (article title) that will get you ranked.

Thank you Jerry for the reply.

Although that's not an ideal way to do with a website, but I've seen websites in Google doing just that. No text but just photos. They call it "photo blog".

Thank you my dear friend.
