Kind of a follow on question from my last........ in view of the trouble i'm having with my chosen niche... If I decide to change it, is it wise to pick something I know a lot

Hey Nicky,
Sorry to hear of your struggle. I would think that if there was
another niche that you liked and were knowledge about, that
might be the route. I know it is hard, but you are the one who has to do it. Another avenue might be to concentrate on promoting WA as you should already know what a great product it is and
how it could help lots of people. I just feel that if you find the right
niche and really get into it, then this would help your condition as
there would not be time to get depressed with all the work you
would be doing. I hope this helps.
Cheers,
Ken

Thanks for your comment Ken. I suppose it's hard as I'm learning. You are totally right in what you say but I don't feel I know enough to promote WA yet and not sure if I would enjoy focusing on depression, even if it is helping others. I'm going to concentrate on the art for now and give it a month or two before I make any decisions.

Nicky.

Hey Nicky,
Thanks for the like and for the comments. I respect your decision
as the whole idea of this organization is to allow each of us to
choose the direction that is right for us. I certainly will be behind
you 100% in whatever choice you make and only wish you all
the best.
Cheers,
ken

Your welcome Ken,

Thank you for your kind words. I'll let you know how I progress I'm sure :-)

Happy Sunday :-D

Hey Nicky,
Thanks for the comments and the same to you.

Thanks.

Appreciate the like.

If you know a lot about something chances are this is a passion. Whether it be doing research due to your own experiences or helping someone else who is going through similar experiences, you will feel better about yourself by writing this down and sharing with others. I vote to go for it.

Hi Jeff, I'm unsure at the moment, its something I'm going to keep at the bottom of the list for now and see how I get on with the art site. I'll give it a month or two and if I don't make progress, that will be the option I'll take. Thank you for your advice.

To me, it comes down to how deep is your "Why" and your passion for succeeding in business. With a strong enough mindset, you will do whatever it takes and that includes developing a passion for a new area.

The key if you want to change is how do you fuel your passion for the new niche. Does helping others motivate you? What would motivate you in that niche? If you can't answer that, I would avoid the new niche.

Passions change. If you asked me 5 years ago what my passions were and ask me today; some have remained the same, some have vanished, and new ones have formed.

Hi Rich, thanks for replying. My passion to succeed and the why are top of the list for me and I understand what you mean in saying do whatever it takes but as a newbie in this field that wld make it extremely hard. Helping others definitely motivates me and I find helping others helps my own struggles with depression so I can answer that so maybe it wld be good. Thank you. Things seems so much easier when you get someone else's take on it.

Thanks
Nicky

Sounds like you are sorted :-)) hope you didnt delete the art website though :-))

The problem is that you spend so much time with your blog that it does have to be enjoyable, otherwise you can quickly start to resent it and the writing process becomes a real chore!

Maybe there is a particular angle on depression that you do feel passionate about - or are there particular products that you would really want to sell and review? - or is there an alternative side such as mindfulness or meditation to counteract depression that would interest you and you would like to learn more about yourself?

It is worth taking time to choose a niche because personally I think it's one of the hardest decisions you make in affiliate marketing.

Hi Marie, thanks for replying to my question. I think my angel wld be how I cope, what helps, what doesn't etc and I am into holistic things too as a means to feeling better abt things. I know also with a type of interactive site, this would keep me interested. I think it's something I may consider after reading the advice given here.

Many thanks Marie.

I joined almost a month ago and I seem to keep going over and over the lessons and getting nowhere. I built a site, following my passion, art - www.nocriticsjustart.com I thou

Its verh weird to start with follow my passiong and end with I have no idea what to write about. There are a few sites for artists to share their work/portfolios. Why dont you try checking those out?

Hi Ace, good point! In my defence my head was stuck on one particular idea when I should have been looking at the bigger picture. Stepping stones.

Thanks
Nicky.

Hi Nicky

The "about me" page is very weak -

Why are you not shown - a happy smiling artist?

The story seems very laid back and not positive but the site its self looks good -

Personally, I prefer a static landing page the I do not have to keep scroll down to see what is next.

it takes time to get things going so be patient

I think that you can allow comments with any theme it is just finding how to activate

Hi Paul, thanks for the feedback. I'll take another look at it. The picture I'll review. When I'm creating it's just me and only get a pic if I ask the children to take one. :-) I didn't like the static look with that theme but who knows once I learn more.

Patience has never been a stong point of mine :-)

Many thanks - taken onboard.
Nicky

Good to hear

Hello Nicky,

I left a comment direct to the site, hope you see it and I hope it is relevant, if not feel free to delete it.

With respect to websites and businesses, making a website is relatively easy, making a business is not that easy, it requires hard work.

The website looks good, your ideas sound realistic but the artworld is just that bit different (I know my son is an artist) so for you to do well you will need lots of regular content, filled with information for people looking for things like:

what paper to use?
how do I prepare the paper?
what niche am I doing my artwork for? (yes artwork is in niches too)
Who is my audience?
How does this audience want the artwork presented?
How do I find quality framers?
How do I set up for an exhibition?

Also you really need to work hard on your keywords, more so than for the general run of the mill niche!

Sorry if my comments are a bit all over the place, as it is late and I am very tired. If you need any help at all please contact me.

Steve

Hi Steve, thank you so much for the first comment on my site and your positive words above. There is a lot I still need to learn, keywords I find difficult but hopefully it will all improve over time.

Thanks Steve,
Nicky.

Great site Nicky, looks very nice, you should keep up with the training, remember that content is king and keywords are queen within your blog, in order to have traffic and reach out more people you need to write content consistently at least 2 blog posts a week, it's recommended to write 600 -1000 word posts, you will rank in google from every single post separately so there are tons of possibilities to drive visitors to your website, I think you need to focus on filling your blog with content at this stage your site looks very good, remember that people is looking for information on the web. If you run out of ideas maybe you should think to change of niche but I think you should think a little bit outside the box, you can write about: tutorials on how to paint, techniques, what kind of paintings look better in certain places inside your home, what are the best materials for a painting, what is the lifestyle of an artist etc. I'm not a painter so maybe my ideas sound silly but I just want you to let you know that you can talk about anything really, hope this helps a little bit.

Hi Mario, thank you for your reply. It has given me a few ideas what to write, although talking about art, how to and other peoples art I feel takes it away from what I was trying to achieve, that is the problem every artist faces, creating and audience and selling art, but maybe your suggestions are the way forward for now. Thank you.

NICKYW.......looking good honey ......you can also create a gallery with comments available on it ....I use G Media...have a look at mine and tell me what you think....

You can monetize by attaching an A-store and you can put everthing an artist would need into it....you can also use your experience and review the products that you use too.....

You can also try to affiliate with a few online galleries too....
You could also maybe do stuff relating to how to get into galleries.....what do they look for , how many paintings should you have......etc etc etc.....it is endless........and i do not think your nieche is too broad either.......you can start with a few posts on a few subjects, get the a-store up as it is evergreen "always relevant" and take it from there ......Hope that makes sense....PM me if you want to chat more about anything xoxoxo to you and yours ...Tania

Thanks for all that advice Tanya. I had a look at your site and wow you have lots of fun content :-) I will see how it goes. Finally managed to enable comments which makes me feel better. Now to think about those dreaded keywords and content.

Nicky x

GLAD YOU GOT SORTED HONEY.......RE WA KEYWORD TOOL, TRY THESE....ROBERTS LESSONS ARE REALLY GOOD. THEY HELPED ME A LOT XOXOXO LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK XOXO TANIA

I agree with the points CaJe51 mentioned.......

And I think somehow Art is your real passion, if it interests you every day and you could talk endlessly about it......

I think building an authority site takes some time, and everyone that has made their way already reinforces that opinion.

The important thing at this stage is enjoyment and consistent activity on the site, and remembering to always ask any question here....

.......like me, for example......practically every time I've had to do something technical, I had to ask here!

There's always someone in the community who knows the particular problem we ask.

I'll also have a look....

Cheers,
Therese

Thanks Therese, I love art, I really do and i've spent the last month on here without touching my art and I'm just getting frustrated I guess. I will focus more on the content of art and not about trying to help other artists that have the same struggles... for now.

Bless you thank you

Hi Therese, did my first reply to this get to you, it seems to have just disappeared?

Nicky.

If the only reason to start over is that it's not progressing as fast as you would like then I would suggest pushing forward with what you have. I really like your idea and I know plenty of people that would be interested in it.

Hi J, thank you for replying. It's not that its not going as fast as I'd like. I think I kind of got stuck with the problem I was trying to solve, helping artists create an audience and sell art easily when, after reading these comments, I need to focus more on just art until I can move onto that stage. I find wp themes hard to navigate, so it has to look nice for me personally to want to work on it!! That must be the artist in me ha!.... I still try harder still!! Thanks for the reply.

Nicky.

Hi, I visited your site and it is awesome! I see comment boxes on No Critics, Just Art. I will leave you a comment so you can tell if it is working. I see you have added a contact form to the end of the post. There is no place to enable comments on your post on this theme? Do you know how to enable comments on your post?I do not think you should start over, the site design and content is really good! Wishing you much success! Linda

Hi Linda, thanks for replying, its appreciated. Not sure about awesome though ha! I can't see any comment boxes or a comment that you left? I have read and reread the theme and can't find anything to add comments or enable them and i was only able to add contact form with pirate form plug in. Can you suggest a theme that might fill the bill so to speak.

Thanks again Linda. Might need your help again.

Nicky.

Hi Nicky, I don't mean to question your knowledge, but did you look for the Add Comments box on the bottom of your WordPress editor? It would be at the end of your post(within the editor), check it and then update. I am attaching a screenshot from my editor. Let me know okay, because I guess there can be some themes with no comments?
With Kind Regards,
Linda

Oh wow, thank you for your advice. Happily question my tech knowledge, I'm a Learner! I found out how to add it. Strangely though, the option you suggested only came up in quick edit mode but it's finally there! Your picture led to the solution so thank you so much!!
#feeling better!
Nicky

Your website looks really nice. A month is not long though, however. I believe you have to work at it consistently for several months before you see any results. At least that's what I'm told and hoping for. But if you are running out of things to talk about, then maybe you are in the wrong niche. Do you have other interests? I started out with 2 websites, one on pets and the other on polymer clay. I'm in my second month here at WA but I'm finding out that the polymer clay one I've run out of stuff to talk about already, I'm not really that good at it, and I've lost interest. But my pets website is what I love working on and have started to place more of my focus there. My mind keeps being flooded with new ideas for it. So I'm letting the polymer clay site lie dormant for awhile as I don't really have the interest in it that I first thought I did. I hope this helps.

Hi CaJe, thanks for taking the time to reply to me. I could talk about art for ages, I really love it but I think my head just got stuck on one idea about it and not general art. I don't have any other interests. I shall try to see the bigger picture so to speak. Thank you so much

Nicky.

Hey Nicky, I checked out your website.

Hi Rog, thank you. What were your views on it? Do you have any advice for me. Going by previous comments, I guess I need to just talk about art rather than trying to help other artists for now?

Thanks Rog. Hope to hear back.

Nicky.

I s it ok to use seen capture of others success here at WA to use as promotion for my website for WA obviously cropped/edited or contact each author individually?

Yes, you can link to stories here within WA if you like, there is an Affiliate Link button within every page that you can use to link to any blog post here.

Also, you can take screenshots of content as well, just don't copy and paste content from here onto your website as that will hurt rankings.

Thanks Kyle. I'm sure it will help

You don't have to worry about that. You can submit your sitemap to Google once you've ready but in the meantime keep plowing away!

Once they have gone live, I don't think you can stop them. If you have not published any posts, you could still put Site under Maintenance, ar coming soon on your home page and just publish that. You will be able to edit it when you are ready.
Hope that helps :)
