I haven't received any WA emails since around 3 PM yesterday. Has anyone else experienced this?

I've noticed that the WA site appears to be slow in responding today and has been a bit 'jumpy'!

No problem here, but I did check my spam folder and found one WA email... hmmm.

Some email accounts will see it as spam unless you whitelist it.

No problem here.

I have had more emails going to my spam folder then my inbox. I still don't know if I am getting all of them.

You're no. 5 that I've seen, Kristina. I started something, I guess. I had to switch email accounts. Once I did that, it was fine. Not sure what's going on.

I'll give that a try.

Working fine for me....just keeping up with them all is my problem. I just set about 15 mins aside 3 times a day to try to answer them all.

I'm still getting emails.

It looks like you are not alone. A few others have commented about this. I saw Carla first

Strange. So, Carla's not getting any either?

Yesterday she had a problem. May be fixed now.

It's working fine for me.

I moved my site to WA several days ago and now google searches the site and can not find URLs. How do I fix 404 errors so google can index my site?

Is it possible that you changed a page name? So the page is still there but the name has changed? I did that when I first set up my site. I had mrbobobook.com/Pictures-and-Video, but later deleted that page and separated it out to mrbobobook.com/pictures and mrbobobook.com/video. Google was still attempting to access the first iteration so I just clicked Mark as Fixed.

It's possible. The site that I moved was also www and now in wordpress it's non-www. Not sure how to change this without having redirect issues. Do you know how to do that?

Not unless what onefineham said works... going to Settings-General and changing the WordPress Address URL by adding www to it. Maybe submit a support ticket. Those guys are sharp.

It says too many redirects and then I can't see my site at all. I just changed my settings in webmaster telling them to only look at the non-www. Hopefully that will work.

Fingers crossed!

For Real! and toes, eyes and anything else I can find to cross!

There is a specific step by step procedure... I'll try to find it. I have done it once before for the same reasons.

Pretty sure this is how I did my domain a while back

http://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_The_Site_URL

Before I do anything. Do you think by telling webmaster tools to only index the non-www site would fix the problem?

I don't think so. Your problem is structural, not just a gloss over I think. man my tablet types some wierd stuff.

When I look up site:larimoreservices.com all of the non-www are indexed and the www show up as 404.

Structural, meaning?

It's okay. I got the jest of it.

Your site redirects to www... You can see this at opensiteexplorer.org yet google has indexed both (I got both results in my site: search for your domain).

For example I saw 17 pages indexed on your 7 page site and google even reported that it had blocked an additional 10 pages.

I see that now. The problem is my site is being hosted at WA and I don't have a wp-config.php.

Odd wp-config missing.

Yeah, I'm about to lose it. I put in a support ticket. This is for my husbands business so it's kind of crucial that I get this fixed pronto. I am very thankful for your help.

Where are your sites hosted?

Mine was with GoDaddy and I moved the nameservers to WA

I have sites all over the place including several at WA. WA hosting doesn't give certain access the way a Godaddy or other host does, but their support has always been a pretty quick turnaround. I will continue to follow this with you until resolved.

They told me WA servers are configured in such a way that it redirects all www links to non-www links. This should not cause the problem for your site as there are other sites which are doing well and do not have any issue of indexing in Google.

Thought I'd give you an update. I now have one page showing indexed. Keeping fingers crossed. Thank you again for your help. You are wonderful!

Just glad to be some help.

Hi I was wondering did you have any further bother with those 404 errors once you clicked Mark as Fixed. i have five 404s now and fetch as google is behaving strangely

Nice post!

This is what I get when trying to go to your site:

The page does not refer in a proper manner

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never end.

This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies.

Loes

Great! How do I fix that?

You need a pro for that

Have you tried to 'Google the answer?

It's O.K. from my side also.

Hi Christina! -

Great news - your Website is find - you need to clear your browsers cache!

No, I can see my site. Google Webmaster is giving me 404 errors and not indexing the site.

You will need to ask that question specifically

That should help! :)

Okay. Just edited question.

Hi there Christina,

I had a similar problem. Check out this Q & A session

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/what-is-a-404-error-and-how-to-fix-it/comment/2410451

Thanks, I saw that. It shows you how to remove the pages so they won't be indexed. I need them to be indexed.

Hi Christina! -

What is the URL - I'll check it my end :)

larimoreservices.com

Looks like Google has around 17 pages indexed correctly. In webmaster tools, what "date" did Google find the errors?
You may just be able to "mark as fixed" in webmaster tools and be done with it.

It says last crawled 9/1
First detected 8/30

I think you can just "mark as fixed"
Just as a final check... how many pages are in the sitemap you submitted to webmaster tools?

Hey just noticed something else. Waaaay down the bottom of your page you have some odd / php code. You may have an error in your theme or one of your plugins somewhere. This is appearing at the bottom of your home page:

'; echo $content; }

Looking at the source it appears you have a '; echo $content toward the end of your footer... you probably need a php escape after the single quote (and close escape after the ;) - or you need to whack that stuff entirely. Either way... that's where the error is.

I pray it's not my theme. It took me days to pick it out and then I purchased the pro version.

It could be though. Webmaster shows that I have submitted 7 urls, it crawls them, and then they just disappear from indexing. While it's indexing all of my pages show up in search and then after it's finished they all back to error 404 when you look them up. Except for the homepage the rest are all 404

7 and it shows 7 URLs submitted and then when I check on it later it shows 0 URLs submitted.

I can't find it when I try to edit.

If you purchased the Pro version then the author almost certainly will be willing to look over your site to try to find it for you.

I think if the theme has one flaw how many others does it have. Should I just find another theme?

I would get in touch with the writer of that theme - before I did anything!

Have you checked your settings on the sitemap plugin? There can be a conflict depending when you first installed that program. A recent update dramatically changed how that plugin works.

Everything looks fine there.

I just don't understand why it would show 7 submitted and then 2 hours later show 0?

Gotta admit, you have me stumped. I checked your robots file... nothing out of the ordinary there.

I just emailed them so, we will see.

Thanks for trying. I just emailed the author. Maybe they can help.

Which site domain do you have setup in webmaster tools? Is it the www.larimoreservices.com version... or the larimoreservices.com (no www) version? Google seems to have both indexed right now and maybe that is the confusion. Your sitemap calls for the non-www version. Maybe Google indexed the www version first and thinks the rest is duplicate content... or... you have registered the www version on webmaster tools but your sitemap is listing non-www only (which google would then show as '0' submitted on the www domain).

Both. They say to submit both. Should I delete the www version from webmaster tools?

I don't know the answer to that question... my suspicion is no, don't delete. But if there is no difference btw the www and non-www ... that's going to cause one version to be flagged duplicate content and de-indexed.
Google used to let you decide which domain is the "correct" one within webmaster tools. Will see if I can find that setting.

I could not find that setting, although I control the www vs non www via htaccess modifications... google may not even look at my sites for the www version now.

It looks like they are getting info from the www version and not the non-www. What should I do?

I think I am on to something with this now. Your domain seems to re-direct to the www version but your wordpress site is set for the non-www version. Your sitemap is confusing google by telling it that the non-www version is correct when your domain setup is saying the opposite. You need to fix that conflict. Will see if I can find a wordpress.org link to do that change correctly.

I think you are right. Thanks.

from the WordPress.org help site:
"Absolutely no need to redirect non-www to www sites with .htaccess. Simply go into WordPress admin to the site settings and add the www. to your domain in Dashboard>>Settings>>General

There's no appreciable SEO difference in the two. People trying to go to the non-www site will be redirected to the www. domain by WordPress. "
Give that a go, then re-create your xml sitemap, and resubmit.

Not to sound stupid but how do I recreate sitemap?

After I've done this should I delete the non-www in webmaster tools since it seems to be the one not collecting any data?

I think if you just "update options" on your xml sitemap plugin (way down bottom of screen) that should do it. Hopefully. Getting an error right now trying to access your sitemap, so you definitely changed something.

I leave that up to you. I don't think it will matter once you have established the www as the primary version.

I am offline shortly. Will check back in tonight to be sure everything went ok.

Thank you soooooooooo much for your help!

I had to remove the www because it showed my site as having too many redirects. What do you recommend now?

Right now I see your site is up. That's #1. Even if we fail to resolve problem the site is still visible.

Wish I knew how the www got in there in the first place. Do you have an ftp program like filezilla? If so can you see a file called .htaccess in the httpdocs directory on your WA hosting for this domain?

You know I just noticed the state (assumed FL) is missing from your address card at the bottom of every page. That could be a source of the error related to the random code at the bottom of the page.

My original site was www

Fixed the state issue

Just a typo or omission I assume?

I did it through a geomap generator. Have no idea why the state was left off.

Ever since I have transferred my site I am not getting indexed by google because URL is not found. After doing and SEO checkup it says IP address is not redirecting to domain name.

As far as I was aware you cannot transfer from a free website to WA, ie Weebly, wix, blogger as these are all sub-domains and not your own site. Please correct me if I am wrong on this

Ah right, sorry I don't know about paid sites with them

No biggie. Thanks for taking your time to answer/ care. :0). The small, monthly price at WA is a no-brainer, so I'm hoping there's a way to make the transfer. :0).

We transferred domains we owned over with no problem. We also exported data out of blogger and imported it into a page we built here on WA. We currently have a pointer from our old blog to our new website. It can be done.

Wow. OK great. Interesting... So you did this transfer from Weebly to WA? Wonder why Weebly told me they couldn't do it?

You can redirect your domain to WA but you would have to build your site from scratch in wordpress if you do.

The other issue I had is my old domain was www. and here they are non-www. That's why I had the issues with webmaster tools.

No, you can. Have you used worpress before?

I've never used WP prior, so it will be a new learning experience for me, but I'm up for the challenge. Just don't want to lose the SEO ranking I've built thus far, starting from scratch, and was hoping to transfer my content and site-value to a WP site without losing the SEO value I've created.

If you have a good ranking I don't think I would do it unless it's just to save money.

Maybe another option for now would be to build a review site that does a similar end-result (get homeowners to sign up for my "Rent-to-Own" program) for me with the goal to rank the new site. Then, maybe in the future, I can simply delete the other site or choose to keep it.

Yes, you do a siterubix site here and then transfer after your site is complete.

That sounds like a better option. Build a new site and get the traffic coming in. After hearing how well your other one is doing I would keep it where it's at. The only reason I switched ours is because it wasn't really indexed very high and we use adwords.

We did not have a Weebly site, but you should be able to export data from ANY site, and import it where you wish. I'm sure they said they couldn't do it because they didn't have an app to make it easy for you.

Makes sense! Thanks, Ahnna!

Not as far as I know. I googled and googled trying to find a way to export and everyone said if it's not a blog you are just SOL.

I export data out of our websites every week to back them up. Kyle did a video here about exporting data for back up. If there is a certain site that's not allowing you to export data that was created by you, I'm really surprised. I don't know Weebly at all, but we exported data from websites we had hosted elsewhere.

Maybe you can but I never figured out how.

I have a wordpress website with WA and i want to transfer it to Host Gator where i have an account, will this be difficult?

Here is a previous link regarding transferring from WA to hostgator...

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/everything-wordpress/how-do-i-transfer-my-website-from-wa-hosting-to-another-host-say-like-hostgator

Hi Ahnna. Would you be prepared to assist me in transferring my domain name from weebly to here? I really would appreciate it.

Hi Leanne, Have you actually bought a domain name? If you have, all you have to do is go into the site builder here and choose the option to transfer a site you already own. Follow the instructions. If you're still having a problem, post again. Someone can help you.

Hi thanks for responding Ahnna. Complements of the Season to you. I managed to redirect the domain name from weebly. I dropped the site, will rebuild it again. Happy selling for 2015.

Did you transfer them yourself Ahna?

Need Advice: Weebly told me, "I'm sorry to say that we don't currently provide this feature. But feedback like yours makes it much more likely that we'll develop and release such an option," when I asked them if I could transfer my Weebly site to another host. Maybe my question could have been better? Or, if they do not do this, any other options? Thanks!

Log into weebly, go to domains, click on dns and nameservers and add
ns1.mywahosting.com under Primary and ns2.mywahosting.com under secondary. Weebly is much easier for design. Are you prepared to build your site all over again in wordpress?

That's true. Weebly is very easy to build/ design. Of course, I'd rather avoid having to rebuild all of my sites, but I guess I'm looking for the long-term and wanting only the best. I'm actually unsure as to which direction to go and whether I should stay with my Weebly sites or not. If I understand your instructions above, doing what you just recommended will simply point my domain name to be hosted by WA instead of Weebly, correct? Meaning all of my Weebly content will be transferred to WA? Sorry... just a little confused on the details.

Are they sites or blogs?

Primarily sites, but one has a blog. Traffic is from 100-300 visitors per day. It's real estate, so I don't really need a ton of traffic to make a sale financially worthwhile, but my monthly lead flow (Opt ins) is more of a dribble than a daily occurrence (which I'd prefer).

I would think about this hard before you make that decision if you are getting that much traffic.

I appreciate that. Good advice. I'm thinking I'm going to start to build with WA and then either move away from my Weebly sites or just keep them if they still perform. You've been a BIG help to us. I can see why your rank here is 47! Thanks Christina and much success to you!

You are more than welcome. Going through it myself gave me a pretty good understanding so I am very happy to help. Now the real fun begins. Wordpress is a whole different ballgame.

Quick Q: Out of Weebly, Kajabi (which I also have and want to transfer), where would you say WP "ranks" as far as "the way to go" and profitability?

I haven't used Kajabi but I wouldn't do another site anywhere other than WP again. You have way more control and it looks more professional depending on the theme you choose I will tell you if you use WA for hosting you don't have as much control as you would with a dedicated website hosting. WA is cheaper and still very effective, especially if your going to have several sites.

And the support here is excellent if you have issues. If you need to put in a support ticket they respond quickly.

Fair enough, and excellent advice once again!

I just found this which has a video from Weebly, that tells you how to export your files into a zip file.
http://divtagtemplates.com/backup-weebly-website/

That's good. Wish I had seen it before. My site actually looks much better now than it did in Weebly so maybe it's a good thing.

I agree with Christina here. Build a new site with Wordpress and let it build up where you can decide later whether or not to quit Weebly.

I certainly like Wordpress although I don't have knowledge yet on how to manipulate and change stuff around. I think using Wordpress here at Wealthy Affiliate is the better way to go in the long run.

Just my own thoughts here. Best to you. Allyn

why not go back and try the transfer over again, and it might take a bit of time for the changes to happen, if all fails I am with Carlaves on this one put a support ticket in

I put a support ticket in and they said that it would take time. It's been several days. Google searches my pages they show up for a little while then disappear.

strange one sure it will all get sort sorry I cannot be of more help

Thanks Cathy.

Christina, have you filed a support ticket? They seem to be able to help with a LOT. Wishing you luck with this challenge!

I did. They said it will just take time.

When you rebuilt the site Christina, did you do it from scratch and follow the course procedures?

I did it, just as they said to do it.

I have a weebly site and would love to bring it to WA...hope we both find out how soon!

Not to make light of your struggles, but "weebly to wa" sounds like a tongue twister. Say that 10 times real fast......

I soooo needed that laugh! Thanks!

Weebly always made me think of Weebles wobble but they don't fall down (which is kind of a good metaphor for life if you think about it...)

More like weebles and woobles because they have no SEO. I used to love the Weeble Wobbles when I was a kid.

Far more difficult that it looks. I have tried a weebly and wix free website. "free" is rather debatable. I am thinking that it may be hard to transfer them as they are not wordpress, however I could be making it up.

No, I had to totally rebuild the site in wordpress so, not easy. My concern is that the domain transfer has gone through but it's not being indexed properly.

Mine says the same thing from GoDaddy to WA, so I'm curious to see if anyone has an answer.

How long ago did you do this?

Has anyone transferred their site from weebly to wa?

Has anyone transferred their site from weebly to wa?

Probably 2 weeks ago maybe 3

I don't know what to do. This is my husband's business site.

I was thinking of using optimizely for my site but wanted to see if any of you have used it and what you think about it.

Hello Christina! The product looks good to me if it does what it states. At the moment, coding, for me, is something in the future, so I'll be following how it has worked out. Love and light.

I feel I do not know enough to use it yet so would be interested in the feedback

Don 't know either, so I wait for an answer too, Loes

Haven't used it but I looked at the site. I need to know a lot more about analytics before I would use it.

I don't know enough to tell you but here is the link.
https://www.optimizely.com/benefits

I have not heard of it. Can you tell us about it?
Harold

I haven't either, so I'm all ears.

I'm anxious to hear what people say. I've not heard of it.

Has anyone used optimizely? would like your input?

I want to make the phone# in my header bold but can not figure out how to do it. Can anyone help me with this? larimoreservices.com

I just sent a message to theme creator so maybe they can tell me what I need to do. Fingers crossed.

They will definately be able to tell you!

Come back and tell us if you manage to do what you want to do - won't you?

I will.

If the header came with your theme I could not figure how to do it either, but there is 2 programs cool text.com and Flaming text.com...you came make any text you want and then put it into your header just make the text then save as you would a picture and then export into your header.

Thanks. Yeah, I'm at a loss.

I just remembered flaming text cost money...cool text does not.

Thanks.

Beside of my comment below, your website looks great, would not change a lot if it were mine. Congrats.

Thank you. For now that's about the only thing left to change other than going over content and improving that along with SEO.

I don't know the theme at all - chances are you are going to have to edit the .css file - check on Google first

Right. I will keep searching.

I would advise you to Google - the name of the Wordpress theme - and what you want to be able to do - if you haven't already

Done that in every way possible way to search it.

And you've read no mention of editting the .css file?

Nothing that would change just the number.

This is the logo of your husband's business, why would you like to change it. It is part of his cooperate indentity, when you change the header, you should also change all his cooperate letterheads and so on.

No, I just want to make the phone# bold in the text line below the logo.

Could you tell me what theme you use.

zeetasty pro

I think in the Pro version you can customize this or put a bigger phone number on the right side, see the pro version demo at:
http://preview.themezee.com/zeetastypro/

DOn't you just have to go to edit highlight it and change the the setting to like H2 ?

Is that done by a plugin you are using?

I think it just came out big I didn't do anything to the size or maybe I was lucky lol

Have you created the header - or was that logo included in the Theme?

It was included.

It's our logo but they just had a place to add it along with title text.

Hi Christina! -

Would it be possible for you to post the URL - so we can have a look - and maybe advise you?

Just posted it in question. It's larimoreservices.com

that may require some coding stuff, which is something i have no knowledge about. haha. Hopefully you get the help you need =)
