Hi everyone,
I'm really excited to see that I've recently been seeing an uplift in WA sign up conversions, though interestingly, none have yet completed their profile!
<

Sean,
The only way I would think would be to add a tracking link
to each of your posts that contain WA sign up's and this
might take you some time to go back and complete :(

Yes... that had occurred to me. But like you say, I have hundreds of such links :-/

But thanks for the idea.

Sean

Great question Sean. I've looked before as well and haven't found exactly what I was looking for, or I just misunderstood what I found at the time.

How to get a handle on this would be a great topic for a weekly webinar. Setting up a system early on would make a world of difference.

It would take weeks or months for me to clean up the mess of links and entry points I've left behind over the last couple years.

I have a handful of links being tracked using clickmagik but now with so many blog posts, pages, pdfs, emails, social media posts and on and on lol... I must have thousands of links out there and I have no idea where my referrals come from.

I use 'pretty links' as well, and Bit.ly for a few links... so I have a good idea of where my referrals are NOT coming from... but as far as conversion tracking and knowing what works best... I'm completely blind.

I'll keep an eye on your question here to see if anyone has some good recommendations.

Thanks,
Jay

Hi Jay,
Sounds like I'm not the only with a myriad links out there, and no idea what traffic they are generating. I must check out Clickmagik - I've not come across that before. Like you, I also use Bit.ly and 'Pretty Links' but I don't see how this would help me know which of these links aren't generating referrals at WA? Am I missing something here?

Anyway, since reading Robert's reply below, I have gone into Google Analytics for my sites and set up completion goals, so hopefully that will at least tell me how many are coming from these. I can also do the same for PPC - as described in the video link from Robert below. That, I think leaves just direct traffic and social generated traffic, which I think counts for most of my referrals to WA - though I'm not 100%. Some insight on this would be useful.

I agree, this would make a great weekly webinar. I'm assuming there isn't one already? I will check.

Thanks again Jay.

Sean

No you're not missing anything, lol. I just didn't explain it very well. I can tell they're not generating referrals because they have zero clicks 😀

Clickmagik is good, but a little complex and unfortunately, not free.

When it comes to tracking, Pretty Links is Pretty useless. Not sure if you have the same problem but it records all of the bot traffic. I've even set up some bot blockers... but just yesterday I updated a post for a different affiliate program (not WA) that maybe gets a dozen views per day... but according to Pretty Links my affiliate link was clicked 4800 times by a single IP.

I check it periodically for hits on certain links by unique IP's but that just gives a rough idea of traffic, not conversions.

Otherwise, I really have no idea where my referrals are coming from. In my WA stats the vast majority just show up under "Website Join". But there are a dozen other entry points that I'm not even familiar with, and then I have a bunch of custom links I've set up.

If I knew where I was generating those "Website Join" referrals I'd drive all of my traffic there (and identify what's working so I can apply it to my custom links), but...

I'm torn, because tracking is not something you really want to teach someone before they have traffic. It's just a distraction and in most cases, discouraging when you're new.

On the other hand... it's a mess to sort out later, lol.

Type the words

track conversions

into your grey question box at the top of your screen and you will get choices of blogs/trainings to choose from

Thanks Robert.
Yes, I tried that but for some reason my Chrome browser is playing up today and won't allow me to search!!! So I gave up and thought that I'd post the question instead. I'll persevere... I know it's my browser. Maybe I'll try it in Safari.

Thanks for your help.

Hi everyone,

I must admit I have asked this once before, but nobody at the time knew the answer, so I thought I'd repost.

I have noticed that some of the tutorials

Perhaps it is because people have stopped viewing it. If that is used as an indicator, it would make sense that it goes down over time. That is supposition, of course. For the actual answer, you would have to ask Kyle.

Anita

Thanks Anita.

You're welcome!

I agree with Shawn. Ask Kyle.

I would send in a ticket on this or ask Kyle in chat maybe?

Yes. If I can't get an answer this time, I think I will. Thanks

Hi everyone.
A quick question that I can't help feeling really is a daft one! I am seeing quite a few referrals lately that are listed in my stats as being 'Website Join Re

I am sure I have seen a program that monitors social media but can't remember the name, perhaps google it
Geoff

Hi Geoff,
Yes, there are a few. Hootsuite and TweetDeck are two. Not sure they offer referral analytics, but it's certainly worth a check. My tweets that are pointed towards WA are all done manually in Twitter, but if Hootsuite or TweetDeck do offer more detailed stats for referrals, then I'll certainly be using these more for these WA tweets. Thanks for the suggestion.
Cheers,
Sean

Hi again Geoff,
Looks like Hootsuite do offer link click stats. So thanks for that. It looks like the best way forward for me.
Thanks again,
Sean

Just found that Twitter Analytics do provide a wealth of information. It's pretty cool. I can feel a new blog post coming on :-)

Google Analytics and Bing's should help to give you the information.

Thanks Monica,
Yes, I'd say that were true if the referrals were from one of my Wordpress sites, but they are actually from Twitter - and I have no way of monitoring this in GA. Yes, I can monitor social activity related to my sites there, but not referrals directly from Twitter itself. But thanks for the thought.
Cheers,
Sean

Twitter is the best referral so far 4 me

Yes.. It's certainly what I've found.

have you checked your analytics in google and Bing? It should show you which one of your pages are getting the most hits.

Unfortunately, you can't get this information for direct posts from Twitter to WA. I only have GA and Bing Analytics for my Wordpress sites and these were not the referral paths for these conversions. But thanks anyway.

Break a leg is stage talk for good luck. Apperantly if you wish a thesbian good luck they will break a leg. You wish them the opposite to assure good luck.

Haha. Don't worry Dennis... I was kidding. I didn't think for a minute you were suggesting that I should actually break my leg. My wife always said my jokes were awful. :-)

I'm laughing.

Phew... Good :-) My daughter is an actress and she gets fed up with me telling her to break a leg!

I, too, would like to know what's working for you!

Frank

Hi Frank,
It seems it's my Twitter posting. I have written a blog about this here: Cheers,

Thank you, Sean. I just set up a Twitter account, so I have a lot to learn still.

Frank

This is just the one that is linked to your affiliate link but not one that you have made personal. You will see your links if you click on the black aeroplane at the top of the page.

Karen

Hi Karen,
Thanks for this. That makes sense. I post a lot of WA content on Twitter using my affiliate link. So this would tie in. Like you say, it's not a custom page so discounts all of my own custom landing pages. And as they are all WA blog links mostly, that discounts the homepage conversion. So it must be these... I only wish I knew which Twitter post is working better than the others. Twitter stats don't reveal much to that end, and there are no URL referral stats here at WA, so I'm still a little in the dark, but at least I now know it's my Twitter work that's doing the business. :-) Thanks again for clarifying. I really appreciate it.
Kindest regards,
Sean

I would just be happy that you are getting referrals. Keep up with the twitter. I cannot offer advice as it is probably my least favourite social media platform.
With Grace and Gratitude
Karen

I do not like Twitter as well but use it to get followers etc.
Tom.

Give it a try Tom. With some creative hashtagging you'll be surprised how much traffic it produces.

I should have told you that I use it and have 8900 followers as my blogs go through it 24/7 on auto.
Tom.

What do you use to put your blogs through twitter 24/ 7 ?

Hi Karen,
I use the Tweet Wheel plugin. More info here: https://tweet-wheel.com/

Sean

I have never heard of it. I must have a look at it.
Thanks Sean.

Tom.

Social Jukebox.

I use Social Jukebox

No worries Tom. :-)

Yes. I've seen a few here use Social Jukebox. I don't know a whole heap about that platform, but I believe it's similar to Hootsuite and TweetDeck? What's the advantage of Social Jukebox?

I have not used the others but Tim the owner is very quick at answering any problems.
They give 200 quotes to get you on your way as well. They do send them to Facebook and Linkedin as well but restricted.

Great that you asked that question - my video is bigger too than the box - and I thought that this is how it was meant to be!
I did not know you can change video size - now I am going to have a look at it!

Yes I agree. It's a real problem that I can't seem to fix! :-(

I have placed a question too...after trying to follow the recommendations here, but could not find it - will update you if and when I find out....

You're a star. Many thanks. Appreciate that.

Hi,
You have to adjust the size of the video to fit in.
Goto the Wordpress dashboard-edit post - text. There you can see your video HTML code. Adjust the size of your video.
Thanks

Hi there,
Thanks for your feedback. Unfortunately, this is a WA custom sign up page - not my Wordpress websites! You upload the video to WA but there is no way to edit the size that I can see - or none that seems to work anyway. But thanks for the info as that will come in handy when sizing them on my sites when I get to that.
Sean

Great comments and valuable tips

Which size did you upload?
you can try differen formats
This are Youtube sizes
240p: 426x240 || 360p: 640x360 || 480p: 854x480

Thanks Loes
To be honest, I don't remember! If I look now on the YouTube page it says "Auto 720". Is that too big? That said, the video on the custom page was uploaded directly to WA and is not posted there via YouTube.

Yes the total signup page is 822, so less than half of it is about what you need 240 or 360

Cool. Thanks Loes. I'll take a look.

Have you tried Mozilla Firefox? I have more problems with Google Chrome when I download images and videos to my website

I haven't Rich. But I will now. Will need to download it first :-)

No. Same on Firefox too - in fact worse, as I got this error! At least it plays on Chrome and Safari :-)

Great question! I know WordPress themes has one. Not sure if you're referring to site content or word. I will wait to hear others views on this one.

Thanks Louisa. Yes, I mean the content here at WA - specifically my own WA blog.

You have asked a good question here that I can learn from. I will be watching the responses.

Hello Sean:
Yes my friend, WA does have a RSS feed. They seem to have it all! Thanks to Kyle and Carson's generosity and helping spirits.
Best wishes to you in 2018 from México.

Cool. Thanks Eugenio,
Do you have a link?
Thanks too for the follow. I have followed back :-)

Oops, sorry, I deleted my original reply because I had not read your question properly. You can only send out "feeds' if people subscribe to them. They will need a feed reader.

Haha... Thanks for letting me know Jude. I did a screen refresh and your answer disappeared! I thought it was me :-) And then I worried that you'd think I was quite rude for deleting it. Phew. Glad I didn't do it then.

Thanks again for this. Yes, a reader will be required, but email is usually suffice for this. And like I say, I want to add it to dlvr.it which requires and RSS feed to automate tweets when posted. But it's not a problem. I'll use Hootsuite.

Thanks again,
Sean

Glad you figured it out. :-)

No there is no RSS feed for WA. Only the email notifications in your account settings.

You can set up a subscription button to enable people to subscribe to the rss feed on your website. WordPress includes the feed by default. Add the word /feed to the end of your site URL
