I have my reviews listed as pages and I wanted to add them to my blog roll, can that be done?

Yeah I made that mistake also

Going forward, you can create a post category called reviews. You can then add that category to your main menu. Write your new reviews as posts using that category. If your site is already indexed and ranking I would not delete pages. Just go forward.

Just do a copy and paste it in a new post, and delete the old page.

For now, I'd keep it as is Kay, But if you haven't already done so, from now on every new review you write, make sure it's a post. That way it will all appear on your blog roll :)

Pages are static and don't move or change. It depends what the review is and whether you want it always available to your customer from your menu. Blogs will always move around with time and your category assignment. If you have a review that you think works well as a static page and a blog that needs to be categorized I would simply copy the review over and post it as a blog also. You may want to alter it some though, so google doesn't see it as duplicate material.

Doug

You might want to make "Reviews" a category and not a page, like Shawn Martin said. Then when you post, it goes into the blog roll, but you mark it off as a review on the sidebar. In that way, it's out front, but 10 posts down, if someone clicks on the category of "Reviews," they can find it. Hope this helps. The difference between pages and categories had me at first, too, but I get it now.

I do that every day

No. The blog roll is for posts only.

Not really. What you can do is make a reviews tab and use a drop down menu or convert them over to posts, which can be done but there is a proper way to do it.

How to get pages in your blogroll instead of just posts?

Seriously, Arkansas has a tax law and Amazon pulled the state off of there affiliate site. I can not even sign up for Amazon Affiliates... What other site does anyone recommend?

Sign up with LinkShare. Many of the major retailers affiliate through them. Walmart, Best Buy, Sony, Target, Microsoft, Kohl's, Apple, Nike, Macy's, and tens of thousands of other small and large companies.

Plus the majority of them have a much better commission payout plan than Amazon which frankly isn't that great. I wrote a blog about it a couple of months ago and yes, Arkansas is one of five states that do not participate.

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/boomergp08/blog/should-you-become-an-affiliate-of-amazon

You are right Robert. Linkshare has been recommended in one of the early lessons

Thank you for this question. I live in Minnesota and Amazon will not take affiliates from their either so now I know where else to look. Thanks to all.

I use a combination, some you can do direct, I am with commission junction, amazon am going to check out linkshare

I agree with VitalityG all the best

Clickbank has a TON of high paying products. Also through linkshare you could affiliate with wal mart and other big corps. Tons of possibilities even without amazon.

Search with your niche for affiliate programs: in google "your niche + affiliate programs" You should find lots of opportunities that way.

Wal-Mart. It is under Link Share.

There are many, just type into google your niche+affiliates

Enter the products you want to promote into google follower by: + affiliate. You will probably find a more generous commission offer than you would have through amazon anyway:)

i can add a pic, but i want have text beside it... you know like ya'll do in your posts that look pretty... So how do you do that... links please

Are you asking about a caption with your photo? When you add media and upload your graphic, you can change the name of your graphic in the right hand column. There are also boxes there to put in a title or add a caption. Style is controlled by your theme, I don't think you need any plugins for that.

Leave your cursor planted in the content a few sentences down from the first sentence. In other words just leave it in the area you want your pick to be beside. Then go grab your "ad media button" and select photo, then click insert into post. It should appear right beside left or right or center of page, whichever one you might choose.

Now if you are talking about a photo beside your post itself to show up in a blog roll, you have to scroll way down when in edit mode and you will see a place where it says featured posts. You then pick a photo there and add it which will appear beside your post title.
There is a plug in for that does this. So let me know which you are talking about, inside the post with different photos, or in your excerpt. For this go to my website and the first thing you see is the photos tied to the different posts. www.downhillmoney.com

Thanks RickBell57, I'll try that...

How are tags and seo keywords different? I guess i don't get the tag thing... help please

Well, I think that's very clear. Thanks!

If you use All In One SEO You will not need to worried about it now.

Thanks Bill67

Very good to know, Bill. Thx!

I do not do anything about tags as Carson has explained the SEO sorts them for us

Good to know, thanks KatieMac

Hi Kay,

"Tagging" your posts or adding Keywords in the All-in-one SEO section is totally useless and it will do nothing for you in terms of SEO. When you add keywords to the all-in-one SEO section it adds them to the Meta Tag section of your page which is an old deprecated type of markup that is not used anymore.

Google, Yahoo, Bing, and all of the major search engines do not look at the meta keywords, so save your time and don't bother adding them.

Tagging/Adding "seo keywords" will do nothing for you.

Carson

Thanks!

Tags are basically an old form of SEO where you tell search engines which keywords you'd like to rank for.

Nowadays, tags aren't a necessary component of SEO anymore. You can still use them if you want, but it's better to leave tags empty in your posts/pages because Google ranks what's in your content on it's search engine.

In addition, keywords you add into your content (and title) will rank in Google.

I would personally leave tags blank because in the long run they actually inhibit your SEO results. This is because if you tell Google you wish to rank for say 10 different keywords on your page, odds are it won't happen.

But if you do what's recommended in the training, enter your main keyword into the title and first paragraph, not only will Google rank you for that (as long as it's low competition), but it will also find other keyword variations in your content and have your page rank for those too.

In other words, when you don't use tags and follow the basic SEO guidelines from WA, you end up ranking more often and eventually getting more traffic to your site :)

I'm just now starting course 2 so that is great to know. I tried a blog about 2 years ago and SEO and tags where a big focus on that platform. Good to know that WA training is up to date!

Yeah, one thing a lot of places still teach is the old school way of doing things which is really a waste of time. Content is the most important component now and if you have that, you're well on your way to seeing great results :)

Very helpful. Thx!

Oh, that's strange, I've just copied and pasted my post to a new page (Add New page), I had no problem.

NIce answers and a good question

If you really wants to do it, just copy and paste.

You don't need to change it. You can add the post to your menu just as you do your pages. When on the menu page, up in the right corner, there is a drop down menu. Click on it and make sure you have post checked.

Then on the right side where your pages etc used to be, you will now see posts as well. :)

I know you can change your homepage to a sticky page making it static

I don't think there's anyway to change posts to pages, but as Jaweda2k said, you absolutely can make posts show up in your menu by making custom menus. The link he provided shows exactly how to do this.

After I set up my about me page, get started and privacy policy pages, usually every new article I write will be a post. Pages/posts aren't different in terms of SEO benefits so could make either, but I find writing posts helps (initially) because it shows up on your homepage and shows Google you're adding fresh content.

Thanks VitaliyG,
I was thinking about the post or page thing myself and I can now use posts and add to menu when i need too... i already changed it, great video. Figuring that out on my own would have taken all morning

Heh I know what you mean. Custom menus for me were always a mystery until I saw that video. Glad I could help :)

wow, that was quick... thanks Jaweda2k

You can put posts in the menu system just like a page. Check out this training: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/wa-affiliate-bootcamp-content-keywords-and-conversions/enhancing-your-website-experience
