Hello, thanks to the WA members that helped me with my first question about subdomains. I used the tab and created a subdomain. My question is, to transfer some files to that sub

Updated info: You can easily create a Subdomain and make a Redirect. Instructions here: How to find the FTP Access Info instructions is here:

It's in the PM Hilda. Your subdomain details (Username and Password) are different to your domain details. See attached image. ~Marion

Hi Hilda, is the subdomain on siteribix?

No, I bought the domain. Thanks for asking!

All your domains including Sub Domains will be listed under the Public_html folder. Double click that folder and you will see your domains.

Thanks Leo...but I don't see that folder either. Where do I find that one? I have opened up all the directories and I don't find any of that.

As soon as you log into filezilla you'll find it on the remote site side of the filezilla, which is located above all the file names - here's a screenshot:

I see two of the other folders displayed in that picture but I don't see public_html.

Hello everybody. I have been trying to create a subdomain with Filezilla Client because the website does not have a CPanel. I need to create a subdirectory and put some files

Not sure if you were able to solve your problem, but here is a training by Welshy in regards to filezilla (video)

let me re search this then get back to you.

Thanks a lot. Blessings!

Hi Hilda looks like Marion was able to help you. Gilles

Yes, Gilles. Thanks a lot!

I think I've found out what you need to know. The FTP for your subdomain is different than for your dot com. If you need WordPress on your subdomain then you have to install it manually. If you don't need WordPress then you can just go ahead and find the FTP details as in the attached image. ~Marion

Hi Hilda.

A subdomain is something you create on your nameserver - specifically adding an A record.

For example - I have one on one of my sites: fixitks.co.uk - the subdomain is lhts.fixitks.co.uk - the subdomain actually points to a completely different file location than the main domain.

All of the siterubix sites you can create here, are just subdomains of the siterubix.com domain.

You can transfer files to your subdomain using FileZilla - but you can't create one using it.

For my fixit site - the subdomain is located here:

vshosts\fixitks.co.uk\lhts

Depending on your control panel, if you've been able to setup a subdomain, it could be located anywhere - not specifically within the httpdocs folder. Sorry it's not a more specific answer - but in my experience, my subdomains can end up anywhere in the file system!

All the best, Mark

Thanks a lot Mark!

See: Kyles answer here. That might help.

Thanks a lot!

I don't see the 'create a subdomain tab' in WordPress, I must be missing something. Can you please elaborate so I can try to help. ~Marion

HI Marion, when you go to your manager dashboard, in domains you can create subdomains. Thanks!
Hilda

OK, gotcha. I'll look into it. Why do you want a subdomain? Send me a PM.

Thanks Marion!

Hello everybody. I am writing a product review. The product is sold by Amazon and when I read the customers' reviews I found a testimonial that I would like to just copy and past

Hi Hilda, I would not just copy, paste and then change the words in quotes...that looks like a direct quote to you, which is not true. I would link to the testimonial and say something to the effect that "this is one person's thoughts on such-and-such." Just my opinion. I just would not want to see anything come of it for you.

I wouldn't trust someone else's opinion about a product. How do you know if they are genuine or not.

If the reviewer on Amazon was showing as having a "verified purchase" I would tend to trust them as they have no reason not to be genuine especially if the product has several verified purchasers.

Everyone always trusts someone else's opinion whether that is the salesman in the shop or the manufacturers copy on the packaging.
Both of whom have a vested interest.

Let us not forget we hope that our audience trust our opinions too or why are we bothering at all.

Dave

Just my two cents: if you are going to use someone else's review, it should be a direct quote and theoretically someone should be able to find it from your link to the product (don't know amazons policy on reviews and/or if the person can delete it or something). I would probably preface it with "here's one persons review of this product" and then maybe after say what you agree/disagree with

I use direct quotes only. That way there can be no misunderstandings.

If you are an Amazon Associate (Affiliate) then there is no harm in linking to it directly and then promoting the product.

However if you go about copying and then amending it and claiming it as a genuine testimonial or quote then you are just adopting the same scam type approach that we claim to disapprove of.

If it is not the original quote then it is NOT genuine.End of.

However, there is no harm in commenting on the general thoughts of reviewers in general just don't claim things to be genuine when they are not.

How would you feel if you bought something based on the reviews quoted which were to all intense and purposes manufactured albeit based on fact?

Just my thoughts but it all comes down to how you want to be perceived.

Thanks a lot for such a thorough response. This really good food for thought. Blessings!
Hilda

Hi Caraid, I was wondering the same thing that Hilda was about using the product reviews from Amazon, and you answered the question for me wonderfully...thanks.

I use testimonials but re-word them a bit and put in quote marks.

Thanks a lot Kathy. Blessings!
Hilda

Hey hilda... hope you are doing ok ..

I would say not to that too to be honest... especially if it is a simple copy and paste ...

Maybe in your own words you will be ok ... !! If you look on my site I have some in place... I looked at some ideas and just made my own .. maybe this helps you :)

Thanks

Hi Hilda, I don't know the answer to your question but Marion's answer not only helped you it helped me. Thank you Marion. Gilles

Thanks, I learn so much here. :)

Hi
Just buy your domain name, host it at WA as usual, then outsource someone to do your squeeze page. you need to give your WP log in to the person who is going to do it for you.
Mahinthan

Is it going to be in HTML or WordPress compatible? If it's HTML you can check with support to make sure that you could actually upload it via FTP. My suggestion is to ask that it be written in Word or similar. I have a squeeze page on http://believeit-achieveit.com/downloads/attracting-wealth-law-attraction/ which makes use of a number of images instead of text. Is this the sort of thing you have in mind? ~Marion

Thanks a lot Marion. You just hit the nail on the head! How did you upload it here? What specifications does it have? Did you outsource it or did you use WP here to make it? Blessings!
Hilda

You can create a squeeze page through WordPress by choosing a static page for your home page and create it to suit you. I created one at http://bizsuccess.org

It came as a package for an eBook with master resell rights from http://freeandcheapebooks.com/indigital so it's basically a page which I copied and pasted into my post. All the images came with it. The rest I did using Header 1, Header 2, font color etc. I only needed to make a few changes to ensure that it wasn't duplicate content. And of course I used my JPG signature.

Hello everybody. I would like to know if Siterubix can be used to create a squeeze page with sign up formats and other features. I also would like to know if WA hosts that kind

I have been studying and toying with idea of squeeze page. I put a static page up for my home page instead of posts

I would like to see your squeeze page as well.

I do not see why not. You have unlimited sites (for premium here a WA. Whether it is your own domain or using a sub-domain on Siterubix. The way I see it, a squeeze page and a webpage are the same. It is all in the way you design it.

Hi Bob
Just an aside, I wondered about the unlimited sites here as an email I received said differently.
I asked Kyle to clarify and it's now 25 own domain and 25 site.rubix, not unlimited as before. :)

Well that's good to know. That is still a lot of websites. Is there a limit on pages with in each site?

No limit on pages but the experts here advised me to have the minimum (home, about, contact, privacy policy) and use categories on a menu to organise my sites navigation.
My site http://toolsforquilting.com has only those pages, the rest are categories and posts. I found it much easier this way. :)

See ken is able to assist hope it all works out

I have a theme that makes great squeeze pages.
I will locate it and PM you, is that OK?
Could take a few hours. Busy day Monday.

Thanks again Ken. Take your time...I will wait! ;)

I would like to see your squeeze page too.

Sorry Hilda only WA.

Thanks
