had anyone ever bought traffic for pay per click ads before?
Currently p
In my law practice, I have used various pay per click services on various websites set up to drive client referrals to my practice. Each was a complete waste of time and money. I have not used it on any of my affiliate sites and would not use them unless I had a particular audience I was targeting that was a good candidate for pay per click. Even then I would test it and if it didn't produce quickly, I would remove it. All in all, I agree with CoreyLust. Don't do it..
If you want to try some PPC play with Bing Ads. They are pretty open to affiliate marketing. I have been doing some promotions for a couple of months now. I am more serious with my PPV campaigns but have Bing idling in the background and not paying big money. Right now I am any where from .08 to 2.00 / click depending on my keywords. To get first page ads you need to bid about 7.00 / click depending on keywords. It's fun, kinda like a game : )
You can even get a $50 coupon that is valid after you put in your CC info / to show you are serious. If you can't find the place to get the coupon PM me and I should have the link that my traffic coach gave me around here somewhere.
P.S. I would never use Google PPC and I don't use it to generate traffic to my website. It is for affiliate offers like WA etc.
Matt
I believe you can still use Google AdWords as an affiliate marketer. In fact I know people who do. It's just more your site has to have a ton of content on it that is not linking out as an affiliate, which is actually a good thing to be doing anyway. However if you are promoting primarily how to make money online, they will shut you down quicker than you can say, but why?
That is true, that is why if you use PPC you have to send the people to your squeeze page or directly to the offer with your affiliate link. I would not use PPC to promote a blog.
Hmm Bing must be different to Google somewhat, as I would advise quite the opposite. If you are directing traffic directly to the landing page of your affiliate link they tend to shut you down almost immediately and ban you for life. That is why it is so hard to do PPC with Google AdWords. You more or less have to have your leads land on a squeeze page like you said, and then squeeze the heck out of them onto your landing page where your affiliate link is. However I agree promoting an affiliate site with Google AdWords is not an easy task, and definitely not for the uninitiated.
Hi I have actually been pitched from a company offering unique click visits to ad. I have previously been advised against this from my mentor as you are unsure of where traffic is coming from and if it is pre qualified
Hi I have used adwords years ago and it was not a good experience so I've never been back, I wish you better luck if you try them but be careful as it can get very expensive.
I haven't but once I have something to offer, I shall. Only after I know what I'd be doing. Otherwise, I won't. Meaning I need to find a good course elsewhere with different opinions and ideas than the normal 'it won't work'. I like to take risks and I'm not scared of failure so yes, this I will do in the future. And of course with a good course elsewhere first!!!
Also, I should note that Google Adwords is very particular about ads promoting marketing/affiliate sites. They will not run ads that they feel contain redundant content or whose primary purpose is to direct traffic to another site. I had no problem getting my Adwords campaign approved for my "niche" site, but failed to get one approved that I tried to setup for my WA affiliate site.
Yes. I would not use Google AdWords to promote any site that does not have a 'tangible' product or service. If you are thinking about using it to promote a 'make money online' site, like a site that is centered around referring people to WA. Think again, then don't. Google HATES make money online type sites.
They also don't accept 'bridge' sites, and let's face it, as affiliate marketers that is what we are building ;)
I tried Google AdWords, too, but was not successful with it. Generated a fair amount of traffic to my website, but resulted in very few conversions -- perhaps the fault of my landing page or chosen AdWords keywords? I'd say that it may be worth experimenting with, but do so cautiously: determine ahead of time how much you are willing to spend (and potentially lose).
I have not done this and here's why:
First, many of the visitors that come to my site would not really be interested in my content. As a result, the comments they leave would not be quality ones. In other words, they would not add anything to my article and would not open a discussion.
Second, many who would visit just for the purpose of building traffic would look quickly around, then leave just as quickly. This results in an increase in bounce rate in google analytics. This is something I want to avoid.
When I chose to visit a WA community member's site, I take my time to read, check out different posts/articles, and leave a comment if possible. I leave this site up while I am providing my feedback on it. I don't want my visit to become a negative static with google.
I hope that this is helpful. Cindy
I've only ever used Google AdWords. I was very successful with it. It really depends on what you are promoting, and how good you are at it, as to how well it will work for you though. I've never 'bought' traffic per se though.
All I can say about Google AdWords is if you get it wrong your out, and out for life. As in Google cancels your account and you are banished to the never realms, forever.
Again all that being said, if it doesn't work for you it can just be a money pit. As in the money pit of death.
Not sure how helpful this is, but I would never consider paying for traffic unless I had a huge advertising budget and a tangible product, or service. I would have to be really struggling to get organic rankings online too, then I would probably consider it. I started off with Google AdWords back in the day because I did not know any better. It definitely got me a leg up, but it was very expensive.

It makes it so when I update Facebook, it automatically updates the rest. It's heavily customizable. It's also free! One of the most useful sites I've ever found.

considering changing theme half way through constructing my site, was looking for advice as to what issues this might create and if it will affect content and work done on site
Hey Michael,
Whatever theme you decide, and for that matter, whenever you make ANY changes to your WordPress installation, make sure you have a backup. It hasn't happened too often, but I have had a couple of instances where changing themes knocked my WordPress out of whack.
Best Regards,
Jim
Changing the theme normally wan't affect too much your content. Choosing a new theme (there are thousands free and paid) is not easy. You must find out which fits the best to your content and niche.
I wrote a post on this subject, perhaps this can help you:
http://mybestinternetmarketingtools.com/how-to-find-a-reliable-wp-theme/
Great article you link to there...helped me re-acquaint myself with site building from the ground up. Thanks for sharing this, Giludi!
You might have to do a little adjusting of images, I know I had to when I changed themes but it was very little.
No it won't change your content and work done. the theme choice, I guess, depends on how you like it
Hi walkerm07, I can recommend a lot of great themes, but it depends on the look or functionality you're looking for. What's your site URL?
Hi Lindsey, thank you for the advice, will have look at training and will have look at your site - michael
Check out Kyle's training on this. You can look at the themes I am using, I like them a lot. But it all depends on you niche. I like to install numerous ones and then do the "Live Preview" to see how my content looks within the theme. The search can sometimes time consuming, but it is worth it once you find a theme you adore.

Hey, thanks for posting this link as I too am in need of WP training.
Just this morning, a realtime buddy suggested I *use* a free WP theme as I could then learn the "ins and outs" of what my particular site requires, and *then*, to upgrade to a more flexible and dynamic "fee" site later once I've learned about what the site fully needs. She assured me that, as both are WP, they are completely compatible and that no content is lost during the upgrade.
But this implies that you don't switch NOW during construction because you've not yet had a chance to get a working knowledge of the site and the functions you will need -- and you will learn more about what you need as you work with a finished site.
Live with the site a bit, making note of what works and what you prefer, then upgrade, or switch over to what you need. To switch during construction still leaves you with an experiment that you may wish to change out later on anyway. ( make sense?)

hi, have designed header for my website on cool text website, looking for any assistance on how to install html code for banner onto my website home page, have tried through cus
Hi Tom, getting there now, i have header up and running but have cool text info included on header, I take it I have to exclude some of the code to take this away
Go through Appearance and then editor, you will then be brought up a list down the right hand side of boxes.Go to the header one then paste your code at the top of the writing then save.
Thank you for this information Tomtitty i was able to add html to my side bar because of your information , great question Walkerm07
Hi had originally inserted embed code into title text section, but is been viewed in text format
That is because you are not doing something correctly. Difficult to iron out unless I know what you are doing.
Hi, what Khaos stated is absolutely correct. However, in order to find your header file, go to appearance, then click on editor, once there on right hand side will list files and one of them is the header file. You can insert the code there.
However, you may not have to do all that, what you can do is to download the header image to your computer. then click on appearance, once do that choose header and on left hand side of screen shows add image from computer.
Hope this helps,
Rich
Hey, download the cooltext picture, upload it to your blog using media/add media, then go the picture on the media part and click edit. On the right you can find the adress of the picture hosted on your blog, just add the code to your css file on the header part.
Oh man sorry my english suck but i hope that help :)
Hi Khaos, thanks for the information, have downloaded picture and edited to include description etc, still struggling on last part
