Hi Everyone in WA-Land!
Well...I've been here over a year now and am happy to say that I have learned more in that one year about online marketing than I had in the many years prior to WA that I had spent in other programs that just plain didn't work for me.

I truly think the main reason for this is the WA community: the support, the willingness to help, the ability to get that help anytime I need it. I love that you don't have to wait hours or days for a reply - that it's there whenever you need it. This could be because WA has members all over the globe!

I am still a professional organizer by day but now don't have to book so many offline workdays and can devote part of my week to my online endeavors. I now have a few local clients who actually pay me to build and run their sites. Yep, I am now a webmaster. I also have a physical product called Stacked Glass Art and have my hands in affiliate marketing.

Am I making enough online to sit back and let things roll? No. But I'm well on my way and have made more gains in my knowledge and understanding of the world of online marketing than I ever thought possible. I am still a student: Still learning. Still building my network. Still trying new things. Some of us move faster than others and that's fine with me. I work at my own pace and in the time allotted. And you can too!

The biggest thing I've learned here backs up one of my all time mottos: Just Do It! Whatever I learn, I take action on. I make mistakes and then I get help to correct them. I read the trainings and do what they tell me to. And I love every minute of it!

Welcome to WA. You have touched a piece of the market that is often neglected. There is a huge hoarding problem here in North America that is hidden from the view of most people.

The reasons are complex and the solution is often tedious. Hats off to you for having the courage to address this problem. This area could very well be a good niche (corner of the market) for your onliine business.

Seems you've had some success in the physical world. YOU CAN DO THIS!!!

We all engage in negative talk that has the ability to brings our dreams to a screeching halt. Not this time! You have the drive and ambition coupled with some real world experience that can only help you.

Here at WA we are a community of supporters who are only to happy to assist you with knowledge, or skills, lessons learned from our own trials and errors, teamed with the expertise of Kyle and Carson.

They had such foresight when they created Wealthy Affiliate. We are so blessed that they chose to share it with each of us.

Good luck. Thanks for the follow, following you back.

Thanks nomari!
It's amazing to walk into a home that LOOKS like they are organized and neat and clean only to find that every closet, drawer, cabinet, basement, garden shed, attic, etc....are a total disaster! LOL
I think everyone is so busy that things just get out of hand and appear overwhelming to fit in the many hours it may take to fix it by yourself. My clients love me! They say things like "I feel so much better when you're here." which many of them say...and "You ROCK!" (my favorite) and "You are really good at what you do." another line from several of them. When they move away from the area, they regret I won't be there to help them unpack and set up their new home. It's definitely a niche but not a great money maker (unless you rip people off which I won't do) unless you write and sell a book about it.
I guess I could sell other people's books via Amazon from my site and work to get the site more traffic that isn't necessarily local. And sell products that help keep you organized. You've given me an idea here...thank you for that!!! Now to find more time to implement...

Any ideas on how to maximize a turtle niche? LOL...I'm actually only half kidding. I have a red-eared slider and he is The MAN! Keep thinking he's a passion so there must be something I can do to help others and make a few bucks in the process.

http://www.squidoo.com/caring-for-your-red-eared-slider

Anyway...I hope you are doing well. Please keep me in the loop on your progress.

Thanks for giving me the prod I need!

There is a lot of competition and they all do that, Chris. I promote but don't pursue...lol. Word of mouth got me those I have and I have a line on several others but just plain don't have time to work with them so am laying low until they really pursue me. it took a couple of years to get rolling...my fault as I have too many irons in the fire...that's my ADD...I like to try new things and mix it up. I don't pay to advertise since I don't see any reason to...there's plenty of free ways to get traffic.

Hi Renni, and thanks for the follow. I'm just starting, after dragging my feet for a couple months. Just got my website started, but I seem to run into walls at every turn, probably my brain going to mush from too much TV. I retired a while back, and haven't known what to do with myself until I came back to WA. I like it a lot, just wish it would go smoother, I keep feeling like I'm in the wrong training, but there's lots of real nice people here, ready to help, and I've got through it, I'm sure it'll get better as I go.

I absolutely love this stacked glass art. Do you make these, or sell them for others? They're gorgeous. I am motivated to know you have done so well, so I'll keep plugging along, and if I can achieve half of what you have in a year, I'll be happy. Good luck with your businesses.

Thanks for the follow Renni. You have lots of great things to say there, and it is awesome that you have your own product, and you are a webmaster now! It sounds like you really have learned quite a lot in your time here.

Btw, that stacked glass looks pretty cool if you ask me. Keep up the great work and the best of luck to you.
Reply
Renni Premium
Thanks Duley. Stacked Glass is a product of a guy I befriended while I was living in Florida. I told him he needed to be online and he told me he didn't know how...what further impetus do you think I needed? LOL
He makes them himself so each is "handcrafted by the artist". we have a standing order every year from Dole to make their Pineapple awards for the top Salespeople. Tom, the crafter, is busy making them for this year's event right now - shipping Monday -it's pretty cool.
Reply
Duley Premium
Very nice! Having a standing order every year from a big company like Dole is more than cool I would say lol. So I take it he makes the products and you are in charge of operating the website and getting traffic?

Thanks for the comment, Shields. You have some really good websites. And I'll bet you are way more organized than I. Unorganized has always been my middle name. (I may have a slight AD disorder). Any hints for me. I started some time ago but got distracted by my mothers health. Thanks and Good Luck to you!
Reply
Renni Premium
Thanks for the nice comment, s hayes! I think had ADHD as a kid. I never could sit still...still can't unless I am thoroughly engrossed. I also have my hands in too many pies including, like you, an elderly mom who I am the primary caregiver for.

It's a balancing act and I am constantly berating myself for not getting more done despite the fact that I can look back on every day and tick off a list of things I've accomplished. It's just never enough for me because I always have more on my plate -- the online stuff is what tends to suffer for it.

But I just keep moving forward and learning new things and fitting it in whenever I can. The only hints I can give you are the ones on my 'lessmessstress' site. Guess I should write a blog about time management...lol.

Just keep plugging away whenever you have time and you'll get the hang of things.

Stay in touch and when we have more time we'll kibitz about it all :)

Good Luck to you as well.

Hi Renni, That plugin looks good. I might have to give it a try. the only thing I would say is : top 5, I would alter to top 3 unless top 5 is your specific keyword. 5 choices usually gives the person to much info/to many choices and that = procrastination and not sales . In my opinion! remember master jay just targets one item in his sites for a reason...cheers phil
Reply
Renni Premium
hmmmm....I could easily make a top three (for beginners) as I'm revamping the first page anyway and still have to add content for two of them...thanks for the food for thought - you just made my job easier...lol

However, one of them is specifically for kids....maybe I should give them their own page?
Reply
the filbert Premium
is the one for the child a "stand out" in that it is easily better than any other models? if yes, then ,for me, that makes it even easier..make a page for children and have only the one product...and say "this is easily the best"...perhaps outlining the benefits to the parent as they will be buying it!

Then on the other page take the top 2 , again at top of page comment on why you prefer one over the other in a "this one is my choice and why" type of thing.

that's another 2 cents worth... 4 in total so far i believe :)
Reply
Renni Premium
There's a page for the one for kids separate from the Front page and the Reviews page. So I'm covered now :) Thanks for your input and advise, Phil :)

Yeah, let's do that. I am the other way around :) I'm thinking about adding digital products thru Clickbank but am leery about the possibility of too many people opting out or wanting a refund after a trial period. Hi Sherion,
Sorry I didn't see these posts sooner. And Thanks for the Gold! You're so sweet!
I wrote two articles and then had to re-vamp my site to accommodate the keyword phrases. But, after months of training, I think I finally got it. My site is ranking well (oage one in spots 2 and 4) but one of my articles disappeared. The other one is still page one in google so I'm pleased about that.
I'm currently trying to find the spot where I can upgrade here at WA so I can rinse and repeat with other niche ideas since this one is finally paying off - not that I've actually made money yet but I feel I'm close to that goal. The upgrade window pops up now and then but now that I'm ready to take that plunge, I can't find the darn thing. Sheesh!
I think you've been working hard as well so am going to send you some gold right now!
Good luck with all this and stay in touch. It's nice to meet you.

Hey Renni,
I was going through the last article writing with Kyle and I was wondering how your article are doing now. I don't know why but I did post this tonight but my first two artcles have just more or less dissappeared, after not being in the first 15 pages I cannot find them. My third article is still ranking badly. I think the only reason they did good to begin with is that the curious ones here at WA is what made them rank high to begin with. Now that the curiosity dropped off then so has the ranking. Let me know how you are doing and I hope that yours are doing better than mine. Best of Wishes to You.

So now I'm off the write another article as part of Kyle's 'test' for optimizing SA, our articles, and our sites. My first article for my latest site got 31 views in the first 24 hours and was # 21 in Google search results. Not bad, but I want PR 1. Wish me luck!

Hey Everyone!
Got some good feedback from Jay in the Hot Seat WAbinar tonight. A few compliments and a few suggestions on how to make my site better. One of my links didn't work which was a little embarrassing. That link seems to give me a lot of trouble. All in all, good lessons. Jay is tops!

I am sooooo excited. I won the Hot Seat for Jay's WAbinar tonight. I can't wait. I think I'll write another SA until then. I only have 8 days to write 9 more articles for the 30 Articles in 30 Days Challenge. I think I'm actually going to make it. I also think I tend to put more detail than I need to which means I don't just write them to get them done. They only need to be 400 words minimum and I end up with more than twice that for most of them. Sheesh. I really have to learn how to lighten up.

Man, I used to write for a living but I don't think I've ever written more than I have in the past couple of weeks. I'm took the 30 Articles in 30 Days Challenge - which I'm not even sure I correctly registered for but will be very upset with myself if I didn't - and it really is a challenge. At this point I am two articles behind which means I will have to write two or three a day for a couple of days. I wrote two today as a matter of fact.
I confess I'm a little miffed at SA. Can't indent unless you're using bullets, and can't italicize more than 60-odd words, so I was forced to use quote marks for excerpts instead-- which, as an editor, really went against the grain of my Type A style.
And another difficulty was the fact that I didn't even publish the first article I wrote today because SA told me I couldn't use an affiliate link. I was trying to link to MY OWN Etsy store. I am not an affiliate--I'm the actual store owner!
I think SA needs to iron out a few kinks.
My back is achy...I'm going to treat myself and put my feet up and put the heating pack on my back and relax for the rest of the night. After all, it is almost 9:30.

I am in a panic today. I have been trying any way I can think of to change the links in some of my street articles. I have a friend who I asked to let me know what she thought about my articles and she loved the articles BUT did not like the links which are to my web page, or the link after that which is the product landing page.

In analyzing what she said I got a better idea. This was a good learning experience for me. So I made a whole new page on my site specifically designed to have a better "link to" page from my articles and got a better product landing page link as well.

I am pretty sure this campaign is going to work. But there's One BIG Glitch. I can't change the links in my SA articles. :( I am very frustrated by this. It has been almost 24 hours and I have left messages with URGENT all over them and have not gotten any responses yet. My articles are getting traffic and some clicks already.
Any one out there know if there is a way to accomplish this for myself? and asap, of course.
Thanks for any advice or help.
Have a Great Memorial Day weekend!

I made two Squidoo lenses recently on the topic of red-eared sliders. That's Big T's baby picture in my profile. He's bigger now. What confounds me is that I'd love to link out from SA articles to Squidoo (and have for this topic) but anyone that links to the lens has to sign up for Squidoo. I think. I know I've seen visitors in Squid-forums but apparently you can't browse around or "like" lenses if you aren't registered with them.
Any of you guys know if I have this right?

I am very excited to say I made my first Squidoo lens yesterday - with a lot of help from PotPieGirl's tutorials. I went thru them all step by step, link for link, action for action, and even a pdf! I worked on it from 7:30 am to just before midnight virtually non-stop. And I did it! It's just a fun one for my first attempt -- kinda like a dry run. And it's about my pet turtle (don't laugh, he's my bud) Even though it was a fun topic, I seriously worked on it, like doing all the research for keywords and found a great keyword phrase and all that when following the trainings.
I'd be honored if you would visit it and let me know what you think. http://www.squidoo.com/having-a-turtle-for-a-pet

Having big-time headaches over html links from Amazon and not knowing how to use them on my blog without having to make everything html with only rudimentary knowledge of it. I have a few products lined up and keywords ready to go and even wrote the articles and web pages but am confused about how to move forward with all this...and wondering if I can convert the html links into a usable affiliate url link. Got some advice in the forum but it's all Greek to me. ARGH!

Hey Edrika1!
Thanks for the advice. I will try that. In these days of technology, I thought there should be an easy way to get to your favorite themes. I would also like to choose the themes from the install list but don't know how to get a few in there. Oh well, I guess some things just have to be done the "old way"...by hand! LOL
Thanks again and have a great WA Day!

Hi Arthur, thanks for the post on my blog. You're right we are meant to live in abundance. Regarding your WP issue, I had the same problem a couple of days ago. I actually went through every single theme to pick out favorites, I needed to change it but couldn't. This is what I figured out after I wasted my whole Monday.... Go in like you're creating a new blog in wp, you can even select the same domain name, you just need to get to the themes, don't worry, it won't save unless you complete the task and save them. Then, when you get to the theme section, go to your favorites, write down all the names of the ones you may want to use, try to narrow it down. Cancel that out after, make sure you don't save it then go into your original blog and, select themes, do a search and type in the name of the favorite you would like to try then select it. Now, you may come back later when you get into wp later and find that you have two blogs to select from, just delete the one you haven't worked on. But from now on to keep from doing this, have your themes jotted down. I have mine saved on my computer so if I need to change I can without going through all of this. You may even be able to create a fake url when you do this to find the favorites that way you won't have a problem deleting the correct one if it shows up.

Welcome to WA. There's lots of information here at WA so don't let it overwhelm you. Start by taking the training in the Training Center. I also suggest going to potpiegirls blog. You will find info there that will get you started including some videos. Then go to either magistudio's blog or up to the Wabinars and go to the two videos I feel will jump start you in the right direction. There entitled An Affiliate Walk through 1 & 2. Enjoy and MUCH SUCCESS.

Hello Wealthy Affiliates!
I just want to introduce myself so I'm keeping this kinda short for now.
I have learned about affiliate marketing in the past and went through some motions; bought all kinds of training packages that were cumbersome and overwhelming, time consuming and expensive. I actually did set up an eBay store called Stacked Glass Art where I sell handcrafted items that a friend of mine makes. I also have a web site (lots of content but short on interaction because I still don't know or understand everything) at www.stackedglass.net. If anyone wants to lend some constructive criticism to this site, please feel free to do so.
I hail from PA but spent some years recently in FL where I met the Stacked Glass artist. I have expertise in a few areas including communications/journalism and writing in general, editing, and marketing (B2B offline). I am also and most recently a teacher of eight years which I found out wasn't all its cracked up to be -- at least not for me. I edit books as a freelancer and am currently writing a children's book in collaboration with an illustrator I met in a chat room at Etsy. Oh, yeah, I also run an Etsy store for the stacked glass items.
My two cats, Renni and Pywacket, and my pet turtle, Max, keep me company during the day when I am at home.
That's about it for now. Stay healthy, happy, and prosperous.
