how do I back up my site before upgrading to wordpress 4.0?
Here's Kyle's training on it. I used the export method and it works very well. Good Luck! https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/wa-affiliate-bootcamp-content-keywords-and-conversions/backing-up-your-website
Thanks Carla.
I'm have a problem with Wordpress trying to upload files to the media library. Although I successfully upload the file the image will not open. I can see the image if I click on edit image but it won't open in the library nor will it open on the site if I click "Insert into post". I'm at a loss. I thought maybe I need to upgrade to 4.0 but then I have to back up the site first and I don't know if that will make a difference. I seem to spend a lot of time trying to figure out problems.

Get your backup made first, Pam. Then you can experiment a little. I've never had a problem with media except in effectively resizing. If you see the image in the media library and the side panel appears, you should be able to set it the way you need it and click "insert into post." Not sure why you can't. See what happens after the upgrade. Mine went just fine on both sites. Good Luck!
Can't see the image in the media library - just a big blank square. However I can see it if I click on edit image but it won't appear in the library or on the site when I click Insert into post. I think there is something wrong with the wordpress program - got a bug or something. Don't know how to check that. Need to speak to a Wordpress expert I think.
Thanks Carla.

The picture isn't coming up. Is something wrong with the Wordpress program?
I just uploaded to media. Have not been having any problems here. Best regards and good luck.

how do i add a category to a post
you don't. It's the other way around. You add a post to a category.
Go to POST--> CATEGORIES = then just add a name for your category and hit enter...that's it
Then you are going to assign a specific post to that category. Uncheck the "uncategorized" box and check the box of your category.
Hope this helps!

Thank you so much.
I've been away for awhile and was too lazy to look it up. Anyway I decided to go through the course videos again for a review. Hope I can help you sometime.
Pam
Over on your right-hand sidebar while you are in the edit screen, you will see categories. It's probably checked as uncategorized. Under that box, it says "Add New Category." Type what you want in the box and add it. Your post should come up in that category when published. Good Luck!
Thanks - After being away for awhile I've forgotten a lot of things. Going through the videos again for a review. Thanks again.
