Does anyone know how to get a set of images the same size? Not as in pixels or anything like that but literally the same height by the same width.

Thank you everyone, I have plenty to look at :)

Free online program
For a single photo
http://picresize.com/
For multiple photos's at once
http://picresize.com/batch.php

Here is a source http://www.shrinkpictures.com/

I use Irfanview to resize images

If you are using Windows, you can do this in paint. Marion shows you in her training. Make sure you pick the same size value for each image and they will all be the same. You can also do this in WordPress if your images are already uploaded there. Use the WA search bar for 'resize image in WordPress' and you will find training for that as well.

I use Irfanview. I used to use GIMP, which is pretty good but when installing you need to be aware that they do install other stuff on your computer. You can deselect but I didn't appreciate the practice.

In Irfanview, I go to resize/resample and then enter the height dimension I want. Be aware that you will want to keep the ratio the same as the original or your image will end up being distorted. Start with either height or width and then you can crop to get exactly the size you want.

But, with that said, resizing won't necessarily optimize an image. I use RIOT for optimizing. I don't know if either program is the best but they work for me.

Let me know if you still need help. Maybe private message me that you've asked a for further info.

Oh, and you can resize/crop right in WordPress media screen.

I hope this helps!

Wendy

I size my images in ipicy. When you upload your photo it gives you the option to size it as well as enhance it.

Has anyone heard of Advert Anywhere? I'd like to know if it's legit.

It's not really for people working online.

More for someone involved in MLM - eg selling cleaning products / Amway etc etc - and wanting leads to build their network.

They're a registered UK company so safer than dealing with someone anonymous.

The job advert I've seen is to earn from them rather than pay for leads

Most reviews give it 5 stars Go with it on a trial basis.

It seems to get about 3600 visitors a day. Website is alive although their blog posts as well as their Facebook are pretty outdated. Either they use paid traffic or indeed receive genuine traffic. I'd say: No Go.

Cheers,

-Danyel

I've spent months trying to choose a WordPress theme for my new website and it's really holding me up. I don't want to make the same mistake as I did with my last website and g

It was a daunting task for me too, to choose a theme. I started with Iconic One and now I have a wonderful theme called Mantra. It has a lot of options for customization.

Maybe you can research it and see what you think.

I've just taken a look and I must admit, I like the Mantra theme. Is it possible to add a logo?

You can add a logo, but I am not sure how. Not there yet, but they have an option.

This is what I have done. I have used my test website to set up the theme and all the settings I liked and then exported it to my website. Mantra has a wonderful option to export all the settings to another website.

Maybe you can give it a try. There are so many options you can test first. It took me a day playing around until I was happy, but it is definitely worth it.

This post was helpful as I need to change my website very soon. I bought a Studiopress theme and I am doing a few practice runs on my dummy website. It's challenging but that is half the fun. I hope you find a website theme that will suit your internet business

Tony Hamilton advertised a new theme that seemed to cover a lot of bases a few months back. You should check with him.

I've spoke to Tony, and he's told me the one he uses but he says he's not an expert on themes.

Here are some resources that might help with your task: ~Jude

have you tried using the "Feature Filter" to narrow down your search? When you click on "Add New" for themes, one of the tabs is for the filter. (see #1 below)

Clicking that opens a page of checkboxes that let you select themes that support the features you want and eliminate the ones you don't. (see #2 below)

This doesn't show on the WA build my website after buying domain

You can select any theme temporarily on the "Build My Website" page. When WA has created the site, you'd go to Apperances > Themes > Add New. Once you're there, you can use the Feature Filter to choose a theme to your liking.

In this situation you can just select any theme while you're on WA, then you can change the theme right after when you log into Wordpress by going to "appearance", then "themes". From there you can filter your search.

Hope that helps,
Steph

Ok thank you - although it seems a strange way of doing it lol

I'm thinking that presenting thousands upon thousands of theme choices when initially setting up a site might overwhelm and confuse someone setting up their first site. Sometimes simpler is better, even if it's somewhat limiting, especially for newbies.

Mythemeshop is offering any theme for $19.00. I just bought Thefox on sale for $40:35% off. Keep an eye out for deals and you'll find one.

No probs Pauline and hope you get something you like out of it

Hey Kaciesmama! :)

I usually google search wordpress themes. It is true that there are so much its like you get ran over by a theme tidal wave.

Also, premium themes are more hastle free. Some are decently priced too and now most are responsive (mobile optimized).

I think this site might help :)

Hope that helps,

Hello Pauline.
It can be a task in itself choosing a theme that will do everything you want but unfortunately there will always be some tweaking to do.
There are plugins that are good for making large images fit a page while not affecting the load time.
As for drop downs - why not just use custom menus.

There is a tutorial I use once so perhaps this will help you out instead of me trying to explain the process.

Enjoy your Friday and the weekend to come.

Oh no! I must admit it was mainly my internet security that warned me against the page. If you don't get any where with them direct you should be able to get help from your bank - they should have some way of getting the money back even though you paid it willingly (when I say willingly I mean to get out of the situation you were in). I hope you get something sorted these scammers make my blood boil!

SCAM....SCAM....SCAM.....You know what I did to help others. I wrote a post about this on my WA website to help my readers not get scammed, because that is the purpose of our WA website - to help people avoid getting scammed.

If I were you, I would write a post on your WA website about your experience and tell people that you used the WA community to uncover the truth and use that to market WA.

Just some thoughts...... :)

Steph

Scam was the first thing that came into my mind when I saw the header. the second thing was "delete"

Scam .. read my post here: Cheers, William.

Thank you William - I didn't even notice payment was to an e-mail address. Thank you though, I did wonder and so glad that I didn't fall for it.

As Bob said, it is a scam. They are trying to get you to pay for a search engine listing. Google and the other major search engines will index your site at some point and it will not cost you anything.

Thank you Glen - as I say I thought it might be a scam but wanted to be sure.

Scam, ignore it.

"this notice is not an invoice"

Those words protect the scammer from being sued for fraud. Whenever you see them, you can count on it being a scam. Since the notice is not an invoice, you're "voluntarily" paying them.

Yes I'm definitely thinking scam. Thank you Bob
