UPDATE: April 22, 2019

Another year at WA has flown by. I have been here four years and counting. In that timeframe, I have learned so much and updated many of my rusty computer skills and met some great people. I love WA because not only of the potential to learn how to make money which I have, but also through helping others learn as well. We are like a cohort helping each other when someone asks a question or is stuck on something. The give and take systems at WA helps you to get immediate assistance whenever you need it and you also feel good when you are the one helping out.

Everyone needs to have communities that they belong to. WA is one of those communities I belong to. I have been able to find employment as a freelancer, but I am also working as a Background actress on the side. New Mexico has been booming in the film industry and the nice things about doing BG acting is that it is super flexible and I can still work on WA stuff. I have worked on TV series and films that were done in New Mexico. You can find me on IMDB (International Movie Database).

UPDATE: April 2, 2018

It has been almost a year and a half since I updated my bio here at Wealthy Affiliate, so I figure it is long overdue. I joined WA three years ago this month in 2015, and I have learned so much, not just about affiliate marketing and modern strategies in web development, but about different mindsets and ways of living. I discovered that there is so much more to life than living a robotic routine of getting up at 5:30an, taking a shower, commuting to work, putting in an eight hour shift, clocking out, going to the gym, picking up the kids from basketball practice, going home and fixing dinner, helping the kids with homework, watching evening TV programs, and then going to sleep and then doing it all over again the next day.

I am an empty nester. My two kids are 21 and 23 and no longer live with me. Around the time my youngest went off to college at the age of 19, my father passed away, so I went from caring and raising my own children to caring for my aging widowed mother. I realized just how short life really is and it was time to re-think abut how I was living and re-prioritize. I wanted to create a comfortable life for my mother for the years she has left and for myself. When my father passed away there was no life insurance and a mortgage left to pay. So I moved back in with my mother to be there for her and it has been nice to re-connect with her. I had not lived with my parents since leaving for college, so it has been a wonderful learning experience about just how important family is. I want more than anything to spend the remaining years that my mother and I have left traveling, exploring new places and working as an Internet Marketer and Web Designer will aid in that.

In addition to spending more time with family, I am also able to take better care of my health. When we are working so hard at the nine to five job, living the robotic life, we forget to take care of ourselves. At least I certainly did and now I have been given the time to spend getting caught up on health issues. I have learned that there were underlying health problems that I had not known about that went undetected for years. Fortunately with taking this turn in my career and choosing to work from home, I can now afford the time to visit the doctor on a regular basis and get the necessary health care I need.

I think that when you start this life style of working home you too will discover many benefits that you did not even think of. Whenever you make a positive change in your life, you will create a ripple effect and other positive changes will also begin to occur. When I began this new career, I started spending more time with my mother, taking better care of my health, and also spending more time exploring other interests I have had but never had time for, such as cooking and baking. I have learned to cook and bake new things and taped into hidden talents, all of which are positive changes.

I am excited about all the new ripple effects that will occur as a result. Thank you for taking the time to read my update,

UPDATE: November 25, 2016

Thank you for visiting my profile page here at Wealthy Affiliate.

It has been about a year and a half since I joined WA. I figured it was time I updated my profile description. I am keeping my initial description I wrote up when I first joined, so if you want, you can learn my history and my reason for working online.

I can honestly say that joining Wealthy Affiliate was one of the best things I did for myself. I not only learned a great deal and increased my skill set, I gained from additional insight into my life and what I truly want it to look like, and I am not sure I could ever go back to working the traditional 9 to 5 job. I enjoy the personal freedom to work from home and spend more time with family. I can take off and go on trips whenever I want, I can go see my son graduate from high school or take him to college and get him settled in or go to a friend's wedding on the other side of the country or whatever I want. I think more and more we are going to see the need to have these Internet marketing skills because traditional jobs are going to become less and less available.

I am delighted to be here and I am even more delighted for the friendships and following I have here at Wealthy Affiliate. It has been a blessing.

April 2015:

I recently moved from one state to another several thousand miles away to help take care of my mother following the loss of my father. I began looking into opportunities online so I can stay and work at home to take care of family matters. I have held many traditional jobs to include being a teacher, librarian, writer and web designer and I have college degrees. But I have found myself in a position where I need to look at other options for establishing an income which allows for more flexibility and time with family. I am very hard working and have many skills already which I am hoping will be an asset in WA. I do look forward to receiving support and the sense of a community which I am hoping this opportunity will bring.

Stephhill's Goals 3
Money Goals
Q1: I would be happy earning $5,000 per month ($60,000 per year) - that is what a traditional job in my field at my level would equate to, but difference is I want to be home with freedom and flexibility to do what I want.
Q2: I would be ecstatic at earning $150K a year
Q3: I can do this full-time and then some. I am used to working two traditional full time jobs, and that does not include commuting time, parking, etc. I am not afraid of hard work and I actually thrive off of it.

Great to see that you've added some goals Stephanie!

Working towards achieving these goals will happen as you take action on the lesson tasks here at WA. Ask questions when you have them, and take your time. This is not a race, and your time investment will have you up and running before you know it!

You're going to do just great!

Hi Polly: I have a question about Google analytics. On the free start up access which I currently have, it states Google analytics installation is included in the free trial membership. However, after designing the start of my website, I was not able to connect to Google analytics. any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. My plan is to become an affiliate on behalf of my father who was a famous well known war game designer and author. He has a new book coming out soon. I thought this would be a nice way to break into WA and leave a nice tribute for my dad at same time.

Thank you Carson. I have a question though...what is "ambassador"? I see the label next to your name. Is that because you are one of the founders/owners? Just curious.

Hi Stephhill,

Google adwords found my affiliate accounts, so I am trying to do SEO with my one page lander, which I built & uploaded to my domain thr instapage.

A quick question, do I have to rebuild the page in wordpress, in order to do SEO, I am new to this SEO. Or is there any shortcut for it?

Many thanks & kind regards,
Pei

No, you don't have to rebuild your page in WordPress in order to do SEO. On my website I provide a way to do what is know as alphabet soup which is an SEO technique. That can be used for any platform you build a website. http://legitimateonlineopportunity.com

Hi Steph. Thanks for following back. I was the full time care giver to my parents too for over ten years. That's why my home based photography business was perfect for me. Since I closed that and started working at a "real" job I've been looking for another home based business. (I was spoiled by having the first one) I think that this is a great place to give me the tools that I need. Thanks again.

Hi Stuart!

Thank you for visiting my profile page and for reading my profile and I guess you can call it "my why" - it seems so common how so many of us end up needing to create a business online so that we can care for our elderly parents. I am thrilled to take care of my mom. I wish I had been there more for my Dad when he was still living. I guess you can say I was guilty of taking it all for granted - like I think I thought, they would be around for a long time and then suddenly life gives you a wake up call.

Thank you for reading and visiting and commenting. I wish you much success here at WA. I know you can make it happen.

HI again Steph. The more you tell me, your story is exactly the same as mine. I had both my parents in the house with me until my father past away. I still kept my mother in the house for a number of years until she needed assisted living. Eventually she past away there a couple of years ago. You're doing a great thing. Karma will pay you back one day.

I love that Karma. Sometimes bad things can happen which result in some big blessings. The loss of my father was sudden and unexpected. He was only 69 - not old at all and he took care of himself, so it was a shock but a huge realization just how short life really is. My parents were together 46 years so it was a shock to mom and she is fine leaving the house on your own, but she needs help with certain things especially things involving Dad's estate and assets. My mother is not at all a computer person and everything has to be done online these days, so I am continually working on those things and providing meals, etc. b/c she has been too depressed to a lot these days.

But yes, our stories do sound similar and I appreciate you reaching out to me.

Hello Steph, I hope that WA has worked out for you in terms of looking after your family's needs. You have achieved a lot here in 9 months. I'm still very new to all of this - but working consistently through the courses.

I shall pop over to your various social networks and join with you there also.

I am still not making what I was hoping but it is coming a little here and there. Great meeting you.
