Dear fellow members,

I got a question for you. I got a blog at Blogger (Google blogs with subdomain Blogspot) for 2 years now and it is well ranked.

I see a member mentioned duplication which may not be such a good idea

I agree with you.

The only thing that gives me some "hope" is the post from "believeitYes" which gives some useful info that I need to check and see if re-direction works (before messing up with my website)

This is the link "believeitYes" gave me: http://www.labnol.org/internet/switch-from-blogger-to-wordpress/9707/

LOOKS LIKE YOU LOSE IT

Looks like I'll be in deep trouble.

I transferred from Blogger to Squaretrade some years ago and my top 10 rank disappeared immediately. It took a very long time to regain my top 10 position.

That's what I am afraid of! Thank you for your reply!

Looks like your question has been covered. Good luck with your website

If you are transferring content from one platform to another I think that would be considered duplicate content and both would be de ranked. What I understand is once it is published it is on the internet forever.but as a subdomain it might not matter.

Thank you Tommy for your reply!

Hi Gus

Transfering your blog to WA server shouldn't be a problem. Perhaps this discussion will help you : If you are unsure, perhaps you should send a ticket to WA.
Is your blog built with Wordpress?
Good luck !
Sarah

Hi Sarah and thanks for your prompt reply.

I have already transferred a domain here, so I am aware of the procedure. No design or content was involved for that one, so everything was easy and the transfer was made without any problems. The thing I am worried about, in this case, is the design.

The blog I am thinking to transfer now is made via Blogger (Google blogs) and I wouldn't like to change the structure of it and re-design it using WordPress, at least for a start. I know I can transfer all my posts and comments from blogger so that is not my concern. The only thing that worries me is the layout and if I can use the old structure and layout.

Thanks again for your reply!

Gus

Hmmmm I think if it were a wordpress website/blog it wouldn't be a problem but then if you made it via google blog, I'm not sure... I really recommend you send a ticket to carl and carson

I don't know if this will help? http://www.labnol.org/internet/switch-from-blogger-to-wordpress/9707/

That's a very helpful article! That "trick" with the snippet is making the difference and it's something I didn't know about!

Thanks again for your assistance

I would like to ask if you use or prefer a plugin to get detailed and geo-targeted traffic results for the websites you own.

Let's make a debate on that!

Thanks in a

Honestly, you don't need more tracking than Google Analytics. Word of advice, try not to get yourself too wrapped up in the numbers and waste time that could be better used continuing to build your site and good content. Data and stats are important, but it's easy to get obsessed and distracted with numbers and before you know it, you realize the reason you aren't generating better traffic is because you are more focused on numbers and data than you are with your content.

GA is very cool, especially when you first set it up and as a former Market Research analysis guy, it was easy to get wrapped up in it all. All the best and don't sacrifice performance of your site trying to install plug-ins. GA is great and also has a great app to compliment it and monitor stats on the go. All the best!

I totally agree with you! Hope our fellow members who are going to visit this blog post will find your answer and stick to that!

Great Advice! Thanks and take care!

There is no better data than Google Analytics and it is completely free. Here is the training on how to set this up within your website.

How to Install Google Analytics Using the All in One SEO Plugin

Statcounter and the other plugins will slow down your website performance and lead to far less granular data. They do provide simple data, but because there is a superior and free option in Google Analytics, I 100% recommend that.

Hi Kyle,
Yeap I've seen that training (and the others you made for us) and followed everything. My niches are linked to Google Analytics and it seems they are working fine!

Thanks again and have a great weekend!

Gus

Stat Counter Widget can show to your users how much traffic you have, it counts online users, pageviews, unique hits and more!

Thanks Bob! I 'll check it out!

can you tell me where I can find that widget? in the widget area? I only use Google analytic

i find Google analytics does the job fine, to many plugins can slow your site down, so why put one in that you dont really need. Just my opinion.

Thanks Ian for your prompt reply. I am also using G-Analytics. I was just wondering if anyone uses another one.

Thanks and Take care

Gus

You do not need extra security if your sites are hosted here at Wealthy Affiliate, that is all taken care of for you within our sophisticated and ultra secure hosting platform. If you are hosting elsewhere, you may need this sort of security as other hosts are vulnerable to hacking but we have you covered here within our platform.

Another plugin like this will just be a waste if you are hosting here. I don't recommend it.

Hi Kyle!

Thanks for dropping by! I am very happy with the hosting here and I 'll stick to it for sure, if you say so, regarding the security, I'll stay with the one provided here. I definitely don't want to overload my websites with many plugins since I believe that they make them load slowly which causes visitors to fly away!

Thanks again and I appreciate your reply!

Gus

I am not sure why there should be a debate about security.
Ken

Hi Ken, we do not debate about security, just looking for suggestions on plugins used by members for some "extra" security

"Let's make a debate on that!"
Your very own words my friend
Ken

Hi again Ken!

Debate = discussion. A discussion about different plugins regarding the above-mentioned subject.

Discussions can cause arguments like "Do we need extra security?" or X-plugin is better than Y-Plugin etc

Of course, the debate/discussion is not about .. "Do we need any kind of Security or not?" Definitely we need to have our website secured and safe! That's not to be discussed anyway and SiteRubix is providing one already for us as a standard feature.

Hope this time I made things clear for you my friend. Sorry, if I wasn't clear enough, but my distance from U.S. is between 4300Nm to 6000Nm by plane (flying in Great circle) and sometimes I might miss something.

Gus

You should have used discussion instead of debate LOL
Ken

lol

I use Wordfence plugin (free) on all my websites that are not hosted at WA. Because it requires an outbound connection it doesn't work on sites hosted on SiteRubix. I receive several emails every day from Wordfence to let me know about all the brute force attacks attempted on my websites. Since I started using it none of my websites have been hacked. ~Marion

Hi Marion, I 've checked Wordfence in one of my niches and I had to face that ... connection failure which is not driving me anywhere. At least I know now that it's not my fault that it can't "communicate" with SiteRubix. Thanks for sharing that!

Hey Gus,

I use WpSecurityPlus.com (no affiliation). Since I haven't used any others I can't make any claims as to it being the best. But I can say that since I've installed it on several of my sites about a year ago, I haven't had any hacking. Prior to that I used to get my sites hacked all the time.

There are free security plugins available and perhaps other members that have used them can attest to them.

Since the one I use works for me I choose to stick with it. The cost is $7. That's for unlimited websites that you own.

Again, I get nothing for recommending the plugin.

Best Regards,
Jim

Thanks Jim! I appreciate it!

I used to use : https://wordpress.org/plugins/better-wp-security/ on shared hosting. But now I use managed hosting, so they take care of keeping an eye on any suspicious activities on the server.

Thank you for replying Ian, I'll check it out!

I suggest creating a hosting support ticket here:

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites/support

You can also find this within the SiteRubix menu under the "SiteSupport"(to the left). This is where you should go if you ever have loading, theme, or plugin issues with your website or if you accidentally do something that adversely impacts your website.

This support is 24/7 and upon submitting your ticket we will look into it right away Konstantinos!

Thank Kyle! I'll do so!

Thant happens to be an excellent choice for a theme by the way. At least Carson thinks so And so do I use it. Kim is correct in saying contact tech which in a lot of cases is Carson.
Ken.

Thanks a lot Ken! I also like this theme! It's "clean" and people can focus better on the content.

Sounds like you should contact Tech Support on that one. :))

Thanks, Kim! I'll do that! Take care!

Your welcome. :))

I found it very weird and I can't find anything relevant in our community .... anyway I just sent them a support ticket. Let's see!
Thanks again for your kind assistance!

No problem, good luck. :))
