look at the profiles of people you follow or who are following you then checkout their website to see if it is a website you want to link to if it is add a comment on the site. I know this is time consuming but it is the only way here on wa. Or put a blog her at wa asking for anyone with similar sites to contact you
Thanks Pinkabella that's a very good idea, the fact is I'm looking for a company who makes soft toys, to work with me on a range of my characters from my Children's books and this is why i asked this question, I never dreamed it would get this response, Thanks again.
Pleased to help. Let us know if you find what your looking for, we like to hear success stories. If I can be of any further help just ask.
I see what you mean Chris. You mean like a register page of all our sites broken down into categories. I don't think there is anything stopping us talking to our network and asking who has a site on such and such and if it corresponds with yours do some linking.
My uneducated guess on the reason of not doing a register is that it may look to Google that we are simply creating a site of back links.
If a member seems interesting to you, go to their profile. Find their website. Go to it and leave a comment. You can PM me, but spamming members is against the rules and I have a hard time with PM, because a message to anyone I don't know can be considered SPAM. Just because we are following each other doesn't mean you want a PM from me.
WA owners are owners of a company, and have right to set their rules. When we join we accept, that is how I see it.

A register might be great, but................
The more WA sites you visit, the more comments you leave on their sites, and the more things you check out on other's site, the more you help each other here anyway, the way I see it. I visited a site (to pay it forward and comment), in the process of assessing the site, found something I was interested in and clicked on it, and they may get a benefit from that. Also bookmarked the page to look into it (as a customer further. I don't expect there is anything wrong with that. Seems we are already set up to be able to help each other's businesses by having all the information there, although it is obviously a slower process doing it this way.
I think WA is set up to encourage as much cross-9interaction as possible with as many members as possible, rather than enabling exclusion by facilitating the targeting of specific members selectively, and in a way, that's what makes WA so great for all comers, or have I got it wrong?.

Hi Katharina thanks for your response, I can see what you mean and having explained it in those terms i guess it works ok, I am just enquiring why is it that we don't have such a register and now i understand it from another point of view

I have put images in to my posts, but now they're just blue data files, and when i click it gives a 404 message or say's nothing here, what happens to the images, can you advise
Dies it come up with the Alt Text that you placed in the pictures? This usually comes up in place of the picture in the case that the picture fails to be located.
Hi Chris, have you checked they're still in your media library? If they have been deleted inadvertently they may not appear as a picture on your posts but may show as alt text if you have included it.
If they're still in your media library, try deleting them and upload them again with alt text. It's worth a try.
Not yet Tom as Loes says, there are pictures there from my newest post, but the older ones have turned in to link type data.
Did you upload them to your media library, or did you copy and paste them on your website? I don't know what pics it is about
Those are from my latest post Loes, I'm talking about my older posts, on my books page, and children's games page, just 404 or nothing here. I uploaded them from my media, and they were pictures of my book covers and some Children playing, relevant to the post. But i just can't see them. Baffling!

Just wondering if we can see a directory of web addresses anywhere so we can market to WA members, business to business. Or is that not allowed?
I have the question....Would not it be great to network with our community from a directory with Categories of products or services provided. Refer each other business or links to your site for your specific niche of products and services like with any other affiliate network.....that provides access to their products that we link. I would like to know that I am helping my community of friends here that are with me on my journey, instead of outside sources.
Yeah, it's in the rules. You have the option to delete this question Chris, just click on the blue gear icon between the white star and the affiliate link. Then your question and all the comments will be gone in a puff of smoke. :)
Thanks Marion but i think everyone has seen what a naughty boy i am, but it was a genuine question, not thinking about spam at all, just connecting business to business, I'll think next time won't i
Thanks Pisces for your help, it was just a question, to see about business to business, helpful for everyone. I certainly wish i hadn't asked it now.
Oh honey, that's what we are for... believe me we are all willing to avoid the errors. I suppose there is merit for this, I don't try to sell my stuff to our members, and they don't sell theirs to me :-)))
Totally understand why the rule is in place and agree 1000% i didn't think about spam at all. I think i just had an epiphany, or could be a senior moment, Learned lesson well.
OK Tommy just a thought not for spamming but a business to business chat line or something on that nature.
Someone tried it, and not sure why it doesn't exist anymore. Her last 2 blogs don't exist now.

Hello! Correct...that is not allowed. If the person ASKS for your information, he/she will advise you send a PM.
I think that last question upset a couple of people judging by their response, I asked a question and got the answer, Still having trouble with my affiliate links, but I'm struggling on regardless, untill my year is up then i have a decision to make, if i haven't got it then, we'll look at something else. Books are going better and new one planned for July-August, personal engagments are picking up, how about you?

I search for a keyword on google and it keeps saying things like 300.000 results in 2 minutes, instead of giving me a page to aim for?
Looks like the good folks here at WA have an answer for you. I don't know if you agree with the answer, but it is the best your going to get. I think. Good luck with that Keyword Search.
Hi Larry yes i agree, I'm trying to work out if that gives me any clue to where a post would come in the rankings.
Well, there is a simple explanation.
Google shows how many there are for a particular keyword or keyword phrase. Example: Wealthy Affiliate Review = 669,000 hits
When you want to know how many websites with the exact wording your are competing with, you need to go to the LAST search page. Since google does not provide a 'last' option, it's cumbersome to scroll down and click on the last number until you get to the last page
Then it gives you the # of websites, in our case over 440.
WA Keyword tool will show you a similar number by clicking on 'competition'.
John
Yes Tanja that got it better, just wondered why google doesn't give a page rating, and says something like 300.000 results in 30 seconds or something like that?
I typically don't check google because I have no idea what those numbers really mean....hahaha
