Spam or blatant promotions are not allowed within Wealthy Affiliate. If your intended purpose of being here and to engage is solely based on your underlying promotions, please refrain from doing this.

The reason we are firm on our stance on self promotion here at Wealthy Affiliate is we are and want to continue to be a safe haven for people. One that is free of all promotions and focuses on people helping each other! :)

If you want to offer help or training or tell a story, do so within the mediums provided here (create training, create a blog post, engage within comments or chat with others).

Here are the rules for spam within WA. If you go against any of these, you may lose all posting privileges within WA and depending or may be completely removed from WA without the ability to ever join again (yes, we do take this stuff seriously).

  1. No unsolicited messages promoting products, services, or outside communication to be sent through private messaging. This will lead to immediate removal of your ability to post anywhere within WA.
  2. No copied content allowed to be posted here at Wealthy Affiliate. This content will be immediately removed and you will lose posting privileges.
  3. Do not copy content from WA and post it somewhere else on the Internet. This includes copying your own blog content and putting it on your website.
  4. No promotions with comments or chat. Although these may seem like subtle ways to promote, if you are caught doing this, you will likely lose privileges. If a link is posted out of an act to help someone, not sell something, that is OK.
  5. No training should be focused around a promotion of a product or service or give half information. If it does, then it will be immediately removed from the training at WA and you may lose all privileges to post training in the future.
  6. No blog or forum posts that are created for the pure purpose of promoting a product. This does include product reviews. Rants are OK.
  7. No adding affiliate links to any blog, training, discussion or private message
  8. Do not anything that is "niche" specific. If you have a dieting website or a website that offers people recipes, these types of posts should be reserved for your own website and not within Wealthy Affiliate.
  9. Do not post content where your readers are required to go to an external website to "read more" or "watch". All of the content must be self contained within the post itself.
  10. No soliciting phone numbers or asking people to call you
  11. Asking for personal contact information
  12. Any inappropriate content (adult content, website URL's or related images)
  13. Soliciting communication outside of the Wealthy Affiliate platform
  14. Using incorrect or misleading headlines within your discussions or blog posts
  15. No faith or religion based posts
  16. No signatures at the end of your posts (posting your website URL, image, etc)
  17. No politically driven posts
  18. Promoting ANY product whatsoever
  19. Anything else that you are knowingly doing in attempt to sell something.
  20. We do not allow any form of fundraising or charity including that campaigning for members here within WA. Please keep all fundraising campaigns external of WA.
  21. No "click bait" titles. The title of your post must represent the content you write. Do not create titles that are confusing and that have the purpose of attracting the most clicks as possible.

We are all here with the ultimate goal of success, if you try some "sneaky sneak" spam attempts within WA, you will be caught and you may be in for an "account explosion"! We are flexible on every other aspect of WA other than spam. No exceptions. Just don't do it!

We truly are a community of help and if you see any form of spam going on, please do let us know and we will handle accordingly. :)

I'd like some clarification on a few points in this list:

7) No adding affiliate links to any blog, training, discussion or private message

I may be misunderstanding this, but if I make a blog about things that people should avoid doing and I link to this page, am I breaking this rule? It sounds that way. Further, some of the training here specifically mentions linking to pages here at WA in order to make use of the thousands of posts and the training that is available here, but this list seems to say we shouldn't do that.

16) No signatures at the end of your posts (posting your website URL, image, etc)

This one confuses me, as I see a number of members with signatures, including some ambassadors...

Yup, those people that are using signatures are definitely in violation of rule 16.

You can link in from your wordpress blog but trying to get WA members to click onto your site to promote your products is frowned upon. We are here to learn not to promote to the membership.

Pulling in new people from outside WA is encouraged.

I'd never try to sell to people here. I was just a bit confused as it seemed to imply that we couldn't use links on our sites, which I thought was the whole point of the Affiliate button on each page here.

Thank you for asking that last question Craig,
I questioned if writing first name only is considered a signature.?

I don't believe so, but to be perfectly honest, I am still not 100% clear on what is permitted. :(

Every one that said that this is a good thing, is telling the whole truth. I'm trying my best to get started by taking all the lessons I can through Affiliate Boot camp. I want to get my Web site up and running so badly that I don't know what to do!!! I'm not very Computer Savvy as one will say, so guys I think I'm going to need some assistance along the way, However this is to let you know that all that can be of assistance will be welcome to give it to me.

C, I wasn't computer savvy when I started here in September, and altho I'm much better, it will be a long time before I can say I'm savvy. I, too, was in a big hurry to get things set up, and often didn't know what was the next priority. I hope this addresses your "don't know what to do" dilemma, with which I am familiar.

I came to find that Patience is the name of the game. You can only figure out one thing at a time, which makes you uncover all kinds of related things you need to do. That was putting me into overwhelm. I had notes and lists all over the place!

I came to a point where I had to review and combine all my lists. Then I started picking it off based on what made sense to do next. One thing led to another and it was like reverse engineering. Suddenly, I had cleaned up a bunch of long-standing as well as new issues.

Chances are, you'll get stuck at times. For me, things are finally starting to gel and get smoother. I attribute it to developing my patience alongside developing my website.

Just ask your questions at the top of any WA page and a drop-down menu will help you find an answer if your topic has been answered. If it hasn't, then type your question and description phrase into the fields that come up at the bottom of the page. And if Open Ed doesn't help you, click on the blue Site Rubix button on the left, click on Support, and they will help you out.

Sometimes I head for Google with my question before I ask Support.

Best wishes for good results,

Rori

Thanks a million Rori. I do think that you are absolutely correct!! I have notes everywhere as well and sometimes don 't know where to start reading them.I was trying to get things up and running before I end up paying out more than I earn in a couple of months. You know I've been had so many times that I feel like I have to hurry and see if this is really true.

I am certainly not a "Post Police" but I would like clarification on the following rules.

#3. I thought that was the whole purpose. Get our posts and blogs "out there".

#9. This seems to be a fairly common practice. I thought that was how I get around plagiarism, giving credit of authorship to the original creator.

#3. Do not copy content from WA and post it somewhere else on the Internet. This includes copying your own blog content and putting it on your website.

#9. Do not post content where your readers are required to go to an external website to "read more". All of the content must be self contained within the post itself.

Thanks

I'm not an official representative of WA. Just a community member like you, but I'll see if I can answer your questions.

#3 Your blog here on WA and the content on your site are two different things. Your blog here on WA is for sharing with the community. Your blog on your site is for building your business. Not copying content between the two actually protects both you and WA, because doing so would cause a duplicate content penalty, and would probably hurt you more than WA unless everyone started doing it.

#9 OK you got me. I want to say that there was some clarification on this at some point, but I can't remember where so I can't refer you to it. As far as I know what you're asking is allowed. I believe what is actually being referenced there is posting a teaser on your blog here on WA and then linking to a full post on your site. If I'm wrong about this hopefully someone will come by and correct me.

Does that help any?

I had the mistakes you are talking about, but my honourable community is friendly and I was being resuscitated. I am like waking from sleep step by step. So I tell you wealthy affiliate is an honest site where you have to work before you eat. Just like our manager Kyle adviced us. Though we are here to make money but we have to go about it step by step. Following the lessons, ask questions and join charts with the community. As it is said that knowledge is power. So be well informed you will be successful. If you are stuck do ask questions to the community or even to me I will answer to this the best of My knowledge. Good luck
