My website is in Word Press, and the Theme is Landscape.
I have my first blog and when I previewed it, it was taking the whole page, the whole screen. It is way too big. H
Usually this is a choice offered by your theme. Are you familiar with how to manipulate this setting?
If I would know how to manipulate the settings, I wouldn't need to ask this question. But anyway, thank you.
I asked so that I would know if the theme had this option, or you were looking for a way to manipulate the theme with a plugin.

If you are at your dashboard and choose screen options, (top right) you will see a drop down menu. Make sure you check the number 2 in number of columns. See if this yields the sizing you are looking for.
the screen option drop down menu I have: show on screen: at a glance, activity, quick draft, WordPress news, welcome.
Nothing like you have mentioned
Hi Yette you should beable go the dash/ under settings, I think it
should help you I believe.
HI yette, there's a 'template' on your admin sidebar, where you can choose between 'full width (screen)' or 'default template' which will show your sidebar menu, hence, decrease the size of your page.
Hi Jen, I can't find that template. Can you please give me step by step stupid proof instructions.

Dear Someone!
I am struggling to change the position on the menu on the theme for my website. The theme is customized Landscape, I am using a photograph as a header. Right now t
I would like everyone to understand me, so please read this one, and help me if you can.
I don't want the menu ABOVE the header,,,and I don't want the menu BELOW the header......I WOULD LIKE THE MENU ON THE HEADER,,ON THE HEADER ON THE HEADER!!!!!! I am using a photo as a header image, and I would like to place the menu buttons on the header. I did that with Website Builder, and I don't know how to use the Word Press to do that.
Thank you very much
Elisabeth
Also bazboy247 is quite an expert with HTML. You might ask him specifically (in a PM). Not that arick isn't on the money.
Dawn
I believe arick has got you going in the right direction. But I also believe it has to do with your theme. Some themes let you move stuff around and some don't. If you are messing around with the HTML codes, I'd ask arick to get way more specific because you don't want to go wrong.
Dawn
Open header.php file from the theme folder and move the menu code (i.e block <!-- start website menu -->) to after "<!-- end website header -->"
Hi Arick
I got this far, I was hoping to get the next step or steps, since it doesn't give me options any further.
I have to tell you that I only have one menu,,, what I should ask is that ,,,,can we do that with one menu, or we have to have an other menu, to place it where ever we want it. I can see an option for another menu (Menu 2) and can it be placed around?, but my website is about a book, so right now I don't have too many menus. Can I just make a Menu 2 and using the menu 1 details in it?

I tried to put a 2-3 min video to my website and it said the file is larger than 8MB. How do I put short video films into my website if I don't want to go through YouTube?
You do need to host the video. Empower network has a paid video hosting that doesn't have the limitations of you tube.
Hi arick! I found this post of yours from 11 months ago. Could you explain what you mean by the "limitations" of Youtube vs. Empower? Thanks!
Thanks for every body, I will go through all of the advises and let you know which one worked for me the best. I have a YouTube account, but I thought there is a simpler way just to use the webpage, when it is just a short....less then a minute... film.
Thanks again for every one of you.
Check if they support other sites, that I don't know.
Youtube is still the best site for hosting video files.
They have the same functionality and customization I think.
Vimeo let's you pay for stuff you can do with Youtube for free.
Just follow training here.
http://www.screenr.com/ This will help.
They will upload to your account, you can:
- set privacy to private so you can add annotations on Youtube.
- Download the file to your computer.
- recording happens online and is limited to 5 minutes, this will help you to focus and be quick with your story.
Hope this helped
convert to mp4 and then treat as image in media uploads is what I have been told. Have not tried it yet.
Create or Edit an existing PHP.INI file
In most cases if you are on a shared host, you will not see a php.ini file in your directory. If you do not see one, then create a file called php.ini and upload it in the root folder. In that file add the following code:
1 upload_max_filesize = 64M
2 post_max_size = 64M
3 max_execution_time = 300
This method is reported to work for many users. Remember if 64 doesn’t work. Try 10MB (sometimes that work)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
please try above, not be afraid of coding a little.
Hi GMEGS, I think you didn't read the question,,,,without using YouTube,,,was my question. With every little short video that relates to your blog no point to go to YouTube..or would you?
Elisabeth
Here at WA you are limited to uploading videos to your Wordpress site of only 8MB or less - that's just the way it is.
I had a little conversation with Kyle not long ago - he suggests putting just about all videos on Youtube (especially because of the file size of videos - it would take up so much room and slow your site down - and in time you may end up with a lot of smaller videos hosted on your site so it's important to keep this in mind).
Having said that, I would also like to incorporate a short video now and then on my site too - but I think they should be used SPARINGLY.
A Youtube account is easy enoug to get.
... hope that helped a little.
Thank you dear Marcel. I thought I could just put my video into the blog like an image. Actually I did with a 1 minute film, it was only 6.5 Mb but it doesn't let me to put bigger then 8 GB. So, what you are saying is that if it is bigger,,, then I need a 3rd party, is that right?
Have you tried Vimeo? They're a great alternative for uploading and maintaining your video media. There are different account types but a free membership will give you 500 GB of storage.

I am not sure if Google allows changes on a posted blog and if so does it matter how many corrections I make?
I imagine that it is just like updating a blog.
Is ther
Yvette, in the lessons we are taught to update our blogs and posts not just for better ranks for Google, but to better your content for your readers and maybe just to correct something. I work on my content all the time.
Thanks Ricardo, You are right, I was confused by the whole blog..including title..changing in title as well..etc. Now I am OK....
So , no title changing, but the rest is OK ...right?
Elisabeth
You can update your blog content but once your title of blog has been indexed eith google, you should not change it. If your content is being improved or you want to expand your blog content.. Yes Google will welcome that. That is called quality content ie improvement. Jay has a erb class every Friday on managing yr web site content etc. The first one was this past Friday out of 5 or 6 classes. Think about registering. It clarifys what can be changed and what not.
Yep, I agree with all of these guys, you can always change your posts if it means improving them, and you have more chances of Google ranking you.
You can change it as much as you want. I know lots of bloggers who go back and refresh their posts all the time, to either just update or even breathe new life into them.
I do it all the time. As a matter of fact, I just did it again haha! You want a great site for your readers, So if changes make it better, go for it.
