Using Google feedburner but not sure it is working.

Thanks for this Cathy, I am getting automated email notifications of people joining my list and am now focussing on the training provided by the link you gave me. Its just that some people find the Google feed unreliable...are you using it and is it working 100%?
~Arthur

you should get email notifications of the people who join your list.. this might help work it out you have to go through the training.

WA Blog System - Creating Your Follow-up Sequence

I'm not using any plugin to capture subscribers yet, but have been wondering the same thing. Thanks for the question.

Yep I'm in the same boat, thanks Kenny and Randy for letting me know any way....it seems to be working but I cant for the life of me find a list of my subscribers emails! As soon as I know, I will post some appropriate training!
~Arthur

Not too sure i don't use feedburner.
Ken

Ditto.... I would like to learn about it though! Just gotta find the time, ya' know?

What software can I use to make my own training videos?

I have a Mac and use ScreenFlow for all my training videos. If you have a PC though I would recommend Camtasia.

I'm glad you asked this question although I'm still shying away from video. Good luck with it.

Hi Debbi,

Yes it really is quite inspiring the way our fellow WAers have responded so readily to my query, and it is particularly gratifying to know that this information is of benefit to a wider circle!

I have always instinctively felt, coming from an education background, that making full use of audio visual technology is exceptionally powerful for learning!l

That's one compelling reason why I enjoy the Friday/Saturday webinars that WA regularly puts out. Also one can easily use their video archive as a learning resource which is "virtually" on tap.. the incredible power of replication!
Well that's the theory anyway, lets see how it pans out in the "real world!" :-)
Thanks for your kind comment , and keep well!

Hi Cathie,
Many thanks for this link! I had nearly forgotten that there is a wealth of information and training on offer through the archive of previous webinars! I certainly am spoiled for choice!
Kind regards,
~Arthur

that is good hope you find the solutions you need

If you want to shoot a video of a person explaining a topic then watching this video could help: wistia dot com / learning / shooting-video-with-an-iphone

If I am breaking any rules by putting this info here, somebody please let me know... Hope this helps and God Bless! ~Cathy

Thanks Cathy,
this will be useful as I do have an iPhone4, given to me as a hand me down by my daughter who has now upgraded to an iPhone5...how the roles have been reversed! LOL
I don't think you are breaking any rules, at least none that I know of!

~Arthur

I love how everyone pitched in here with solutions and programs. They all went into my desk notebook for later perusal. WOW!

Thanks Carla,
You've said it all! WOW indeed!

If you are looking for free software try EZVID. Be careful when you install as it may have unwanted extra programs attached. You can avoid installing the unwanted programs by selecting custom install at every stage where it's available. This warning should be part of every free software install. I love free software but I don't like the unwanted extra programs that sometimes appear. Another free alternative is CamStudio (same warning). ~Marion

Thanks Marion, for the info on EZVID, like you I am wary of a lot of so-called "free" software where some vendors trick one into using their own search engines...kinda smacks of a lack of integrity to say the least!
Ive been caught before by companies that literally hijack your search engine of choice (in my case Google...what else is there?)
Kind regards
~Arthur

There are also extra programs which get installed when you are installing the software you want. "Speed up my computer" is one of them and also trial versions of other stuff you didn't expect. So I always choose the advanced installation option. Better safe than sorry.

Hi - I've used Ashampoo's Snap & Captivate (now from Adobe) for many years, and more recently, Screencast-o-matic.

For me personally, Screencast-o-matic wins hands down. It lets you add caption files (which will show up on YouTube if you want them to), you can add multiple pieces of audio after you have recorded your screen (for example, you can script your video, and record the audio in sections afterwards), you can add arrows, highlights, boxes, text etc to any part of your video - you can have your webcam put your face recording on top of the screen recording too.

http://www.screencast-o-matic.com/ - free and paid version

https://www.ashampoo.com/uk/gbp/pin/1024/multimedia-software/Ashampoo-Snap-7 - free trial/paid

http://thankyou.adobe.com/en/uk/products/CP/v3/1106_captivate.html - free trial/paid

All the best, Mark

Thanks Mark,
for your valued advice, your personal experience with a variety of software of this type counts for a lot!
All the best,
Kind regards
~Arthur

I've also used Screencast-O-Matic. Easy to use and has a functional free version. Used it on my Mac and it works with my built in web cam and mic.

You can make videos on You Tube for free and all you do is create your own You Tube Channel and then the camera on your laptop works as your video feed to create a video. Then you can upload them to your page. I am sure their may be other options, but this is the one I have used before and its great. There is some training on this also in WA Bootcamp course 4 and maybe 5 as well.

Thanks for this Kim, and I will be looking at WA Boot camp more closely (too many things have been happening in my life these past months, never mind procrastination!)
I was thinking more along the lines of software like Camtasia and Snagit....so that I can produce videos of my screen....do you know anything about them?

No I don't, but I am sure there is some one here that will help you out that does know.

If you ask Sotiris1 - he probably has a video training about it

I have used Snagit for a few projects. It is easy to use and does a great job. Camtasia is a great tool as well. Additionally, the same company has a free option if you want to try it out. I just downloaded it and plan on giving it a shot. Here is the URL if you are interested...

http://www.techsmith.com/jing.html

I have Camtasia and I can vouch for it - the software is awesome. There's also a new product out called Easy Video Suite which is supposed to the Creme de la creme of this type of software.

Looks like NickyB has your back on this.

Thank you Hilary, will do!

Thank you Katy, the response is quite overwhelming, so many WAers eager to help, I am humbled!

Thanks Nicky, will certainly give these a try!

Could I have a breakdown of the categories that will influence ones ranking and examples of how they work?

I don't worry about it. I review all the emails I receive of blogs and questions of the people in my network. I learn from the answers to questions and material in blogs and respond to support members, and when I am able to help someone I do, which isn't all that often as I am still learning. My ranking continues to climb even though I am not really working at it. :) Christa

Thank you for your message Christabelle...I really asked the question regarding the ranking issue on behalf of someone in my network who private emailed me as they were concerned at their ranking and were seeking clarity.
In other words I was trying to help, but as I type this, I notice my ranking has gone from 482 yesterday, to 492 this morning...... Something doesn't compute....Definitely a yo-yo pattern....despite the fact that I have been interacting ...surely it should have improved?

On the face of it, this does not seem logical somehow, but I take the point that the important issue is to take advantage of the learning and I am not overly concerned about the ranking. At least at this stage anyway!

Kind regards
~Arthur

Depends whether you want to rank as ambassador here or make money from your website.

Mine goes up and down inexplicably like a yo-yo, so I have stopped giving it any consideration. The learning is the important thing to get stuck into.
All the best.

Actually, mine has been getting better day in and day out ever since. May be I have been engaging more without particularly realising it. I have gone from 791 to 448. That said, I need to ensure I spend enough time on my site and on the training.
Brandon

Hi Brandon,

I have exactly the same experience recently , as now my ranking has improved and has gone from something like 490 and then up again to 432 and now down around 442...almost like a fairground roller coaster ride ....ahhh the sweet mysteries of life on the internet! LOL!

~Arthur

Beverley is so right! PLEASE don't get hooked up on the ranking. If you really, really want to have a successful, online business, then that ranking number will never get you there.

The only thing that will be the catapult to your success is staying on course, reviewing the lessons over and over and over and doing exactly as Kyle and Carson teach you. This is the path to success ... not the ranking.

The ranking simply lets other people know how active you are within the WA community insofar as it relates to communicating with other members. It does nothing to help you build your sites or build your revenue streams.

Focus, focus, focus ...

God Bless!
Cathy

I shouldn't worry about your ranking. The only really important thing is your business. Ranking does go up and down. I've been as high as 3 but it doesn't matter. I get involved when I can but it's not my priority. :) Beverley

are you talking about rankings on here or google, it it is the latter then it is about good content, keywords and the type of niche.. for WA rankings it is about how much input you have with the community

Thanks for the info Katie, its about WA ranking (see my response to Shawn below)

Arthur, As far as I can work out, if you click on the blue rank icon before your name you get different graphs such as Creator, Helper points. If U mouse over the different graphs you get the points you've earned per each category/month. I still not sure what it all entails. Maybe to get us used to running a real website (and also to take the load off Kyle et al?:) Hope you are well....

Thanks Shawn,

The link that blairdc posted below does help to give an overall picture. I actually read it sometime ago but didn't realize that my ranking has fluctuated negatively over the past month due to some enforced inactivity on my part ....just too many pressing issues on my plate at the moment!
Trust you are well Shawn and that you are enjoying your experience at WA. I am well (thank you for inquiring) and will be paying more attention to creating a regular blog in future in an effort to get that ranking up!
Ciao for now!

I sometimes wonder just how important this ranking is. (Unless one reaches the exalted Ambassador Level:) I do enjoy interacting with the community here and do learn something from time to time, However it certainly takes what little time I have to work on my website! (BTW Jeremy West kindly told us about the "Pomodoro technique" a simple method to help boost one's productivity and avoid distraction. Take a look: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/jeremywest/blog/the-one-item-to-do-list-and-the-pomodoro-method
I am using it and it works!

I use a version of the pomodoro method too - though I find I work better on 20 mins writing followed by 10 minutes of a different activity (like stretches, or mediation or housework) followed by 20 minutes again. Works for me!

Why are they provided?

Thanks Nick.

I mostly use the first one. It also depends where you want to direct your customer to then you can use the others if neccessary.

You mean WA affiliate links? They're for us (premium members) to promote WA through our websites. Then you earn a commission or referral for anyone who stops by your site and click on to your link/s.

Thanks Jen, but why are there three, surely the first one should be sufficient?

You have Maksim's answer for your follow up question.

If you open them on another browser, where you are not signed in you will see that they will bring you to different pages. You can use them for promoting WA different way
Have a look, which one of them looks nicer to use and use it.
