Yah, I know we are all in love and addicted to WA. It's only natural to be besmitten by such inclusive and rewarding hangout as this.

But I want to hear from you, what is THE most annoying, THE most painful part of learning online....frustrating, infuriating, depressing...?

Really, What made you want to pull out your hair, throw the computer through the wall, bang all of the keys at once really hard, go psycho?

I have two pet hates with my online work. They both make me want to 'chuck a mega tanty and spit the dummy'!!! That's Australian for get really upset.

You know I travel a lot and while I'm not complaining about that, it is precisely my travels that cause both the major upsets!

1. Not enough time.

I wish I could do a forty hour week! What.?? Yes its true, I love my work that much. BUT.... (because of travel) my time on my website is always limited! Argh!

2. Internet connection.

Rather the Lack thereof. Again caused by my travelling. No matter which provider I use, once we have sailed deep into a sandstone canyon, or fifty miles offshore, that's it, tools down...no work done. AAAHHH!

Because I am nowhere near ready to give up my travels, my husband's solution is for me to do 18 hour days when the opportunities present...thanks Honey! I'm seriously considering it, too.

And about connectivity? I need to find an affordable satellite system. I'm taking recommendations, everything considered.

Meanwhile, what makes you 'chuck a major tanty and spit it'? What are the things about learning online that make you crazy?

!!! VENT HERE.!!!

Then calm down and go well from Janelle.

P.S. I know how lucky I am to have these 'terrible' problems.

Nothing overly frustrating other than like most have stated, remembering all the things I have to do with my website pages/posts to get rankings. WA, namely Jay, has put out some great material to help with that!

Thanks Howard, just take it in your stride hey?

That I often have to go over my own training again to see how the heck I did it

I can SO relate to that Loes. I did it again today.

Ha ha.............oh well, there's hope for me yet, then.......

Ha that's funny...and reassuring! I'm so grateful for your training and I can just go back and read it again whenever I need to. Thanks Loes.

My annoying problem is all the external disruptions from other folk, trying to put there more important agenda on my lap.

I am getting much better at sifting through the important distractions right down to the not even replying to the insignificant.

Yes I am getting pretty tough on the distractors too. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Not enough hours in the day. I have no idea how I ever found time to run a business as well as all the things I used to do before I got sick.

I often think...wow imagine what I could achieve with more work time! When I review the amount of ground I have covered so far, I'm actually quite satisfied with my progress.
When I view the body of work that you have compiled. Marion, I am really impressed. Thanks for your help and for taking time to respond. J

Janelle,

The most annoying for is definitively not having "enough" time for my business. I'm already at it everyday but it would have been better to just have 1 more hour and some energy (as a perfectionist, I do things pretty slowly)!

Cheers,
Anh

Sadly I'm addicted to affiliate marketing...so to go for a few days without it is very stress. Don't worry I will cope!

Hi Janelle,

You are not alone, I really have great difficulty applying myself because I tend to take on too much. Mea culpa!

As a young person I often had this dream of being able to magically freeze time while I remained active and everything else, came to a standstill including people who were turned into statues. I , in the meantime would be able to carry on happily working and achieving my goals.
Of course once I unfroze time, everything was back to normal but I would have found and used the extra time, possibly even thousands of years! (Didn't Einstein say time was relative?)

You mentioned connectivity and I must confess that it would irritate me extremely if it was in anyway unstable, it would drive me literally insane. Fortunately it hasn't come to that yet.
I hope that it won't, despite the fact that the rest of the country seems to be going to the dogs! Shame, dogs shouldn't be caricatured in this unjust way!

Ahhh, thank goodness calm has now been restored! Thank you.

Kind regards, ~Arthur

Arthur your freeze time dream is familiar. Oh if only it were true. When I do get the chance to immerse ..it seems that everything else falls away. When I come back....the dishes still have not been done ! Lol. J.

Pity about the "dishes" Janelle, you could have done them during your "freeze" time! Lol!
~Arthur

Ooh Arthur! Is it possible your dream foretold your future in online business. What you described is how I feel when I am working online. Time is relative...I'm just too busy to relate it to anything. :)

Hi Janelle, my problem is my own - the speed of writing, and my English not being my first language, though my main language for years, little sentences like;
"Click here to get your copy of a free gift"???
"Click here to get a copy of your free gift"!!!
I can't keep asking someone these things, so I repeat the sentences to myself, or Google.

I guess everyone uses dictionary & thesaurus to search for better expressions but I use them all the time. I wish I could just write one quick article in 20 minutes.
Ray

20 minutes! I wish! By the way, in our blended world I think expression of ideas is more important than grammar. Thanks for your input. J

I'm a fan of thesaurus for a juicy word. I know it swallows time but I enjoy expanding my vocab. 20 minute articles would be heaven....I probably couldn't edit an outsourced article in 20 mins.!!

Do you use Grammarly too?

Hi Dirk,

I have used it but the free version doesn’t help much in depth, I think Grammarly is great to check some obvious mistakes, so I should still use it! I’d like to know how advanced the premium version is…such as telling you a better expression. It’s not cheap though…!

Ray

My problem isn't time; it's the learning curve mostly. I'm 70-ish and am no longer the kid with the photographic memory. I (sometimes) forget things. When that happens, I have a major huff. I always prided myself on my memory ability. It may come back at some point, but I'm not holding my breath. So, I bite the bullet, lean in closer and work at it.

I certainly identify with this "malady" Ian, commiserations brother!

~Arthur

Hey big bro. I've come to accept the learning curve as inevitable. Its a steep climb for sure. Especially if you start from zero....like a lot of us boomers.
To all of us who challenge ourselves to learn this stuff, I am cheering you/ us on. Talk about stretching our comfort zones!
J.

Hey big bro! I hear you with the learning curve... So steep it makes me giddy. ...but fun. Wait till you tell the grandies you are an SEO expert, with a YouTube channel and a cool site!

Then the learning curve hits the 'nosebleed' sections. lol

Finding 'muscles' I never knew existed and they are ALL introducing themselves. Oh, my aching head.

ha ha ha

Like you, time is a problem. Yes: I'd do this all day, most days--if I were not working--and I cannot afford NOT to work. I am up at 4:50am every day--my choice, because I want to open the library before 7:30am. I usually catch the 4 o'clock bus from near the school, change buses 15 minutes later, and enjoy the 40-minute bus ride home, where I play scrabble with some friends online, read the news etc. And most days I am wrecked by the time I get home. Every day is very busy in the library and there is teaching to do as well. I will be 75 in November, so that maybe is why I become so tired.

I am getting plenty of hits on one of my websites, judging by the stream of comments--oh, there's some spam as well. It frustrates me no end that I haven't yet had TIME to put into practice some advice I received about getting my Amazon picture/links to work--so that I might actually SELL something! Grrrrr! That's my vent.

Hi Margaret. If I got up at 4.30 in the morning I would be useless by 3pm. Your energy and focus is inspiring. Patience ...my dear. J

Not 4:30; 4:50. LOL

My 'beef' too .... time, or lack thereof. Having to work full time when I am at a point in my life where I am literally popping with ideas and can't put them into practise or work on what I am learning here.....part of the problem was fatigue at the end of the full-on day.l I am noticing as I get older (not into my 70's YET, though) that I really have to work at my energy levels, and diet makes a huge difference. They do say 'you are what you eat'. I find when I am juicing in the mornings and cutting out sugary foods, my mental energy improves dramatically, as does my memory.
Another problem for me with online learning is that I learn much better if I can talk a problem through with someone; having to learn via videos and text is frustrating and slow, but I guess that's how it is online :(((
Katharina

Yes I have struggled with both these issues in the past, luckily after some time and effort I seem to have gotten them sorted. And it does take a lot of diligence! Best.

Got any solutions on how you sorted your problems? J

I have another source of income from another job, I guess I've just got ahead with things and this has paid for membership/ Internet connection and allowed me more time to spend online. Cheers.
