Hey Robert,

You only need to ask a question once and I have already responded with a resolve here: When you ask the same question more than once you are taking time away from other members receiving help with their questions. We all have to remember, answers don't always happen instantly. Sometimes we have to wait a few hours as WA members located all around the world in different time zones.

Thank you for understanding.

I did not realize I had asked a question twice. The first time, my computer froze and didn't think it posted. Sorry.

Hi - go to General Settings. There is a membership field, this should not be ticked, as it allows anyone to register.

go into your dashboard and click on settings =>general and uncheck the membership box - save the settings.
and delete the new user.
there appears to still be a loophole from either plugins or wordpress which allows access when this is checked.

Hey Robert,

First, check to see if that message is spam: If you are still uncertain, then contact Carson: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/message/carson in a private message and provide full details. Providing a screen print of the email would be a good idea.

For this issue, be sure to click on "Report Content" so that you will receive a blank textbox that will be clearly labeled with "Contact Kyle or Carson" so that your message will go to Carson in his inbox and not back out into a classroom where members can come in to answer the questions they know how to answer.

Hope you find this helpful.

You have been very helpful. Thank you kindly.

Robert,

You should be able to log in your Site Manager and then after you login to your specific website click on the Users tab under the Dashboard located on the left side of your page,

Choose All Users from the drop down menu and then view the list of Users for that website. Mark and delete any unauthorized users and make sure to go back and verify that the change(s) was/were made.

You can also reset the password at the starting page on the Site Manager to eliminate any hacked login credentials.

I hope that this helps.

Blessings!

Could it be that this email was simply a subscriber to my website/ blog? The user name is in the email I received, and there is a whole list of names of users where you said to look. I am the only administrator though. The other users all say Subscriber next to them. Do you think everything is all right?

Potential hacker at a guess as in the past I have experienced this

I have written posts with links to websites such as Amazon, but I am not signed up to Amazon or some of these Big Guys yet. Not until I get more traffic. If the post is about

The most important thing to Google is that the links make sense. It's okay if they are plain links or affiliate links. I'd put in affiliate links now. Remember if you are writing about your niche, it's not necessary to have a huge volume of traffic to be successful, it's more important to have targeted traffic. Some niche's won't ever be huge, but they can be quite successful.

Don't even add links until you yave traffic and traction

Thank you for your input. I will ponder this.

I have the same opinion with others. If you have not an affiliate with Amazon, there's no benefits for you to have link to their site. You might as well sign up straight away and placing your affiliate links on your post.

My opinion.

:)
Joe

Thanks for the input. The reason I hesitate is that some people here signed up with Amazon right away, didn't have the traffic, and Amazon closed their account because they did not make enough sales. Some here at WA have this opinion, some another. Not sure what to do.

One more thought. I wanted to put text links in instead of dot-com ones because Kyle said not to put too many affiliate links in the post. I may have close to ten links (the post describes 7 different dolls.) So I used plain links. Are text links different from affiliate links such as linking the word Amazon dot com versus amz789BUAc458huyjgi68476hf/++__3?JUYH88. ? I did shorten them on Bitly dot com.

I think you maybe on shaking ground I but I'm not qualified to give out legal advice, What I did was buy an Amazon book called the book.
Amazon Associates: Complete Guide: Make Money Online with Amazon Associates: The Amazon Associates Bible: A Step-By-Step Guide on Amazon Associates Affiliate Program

this book only cost 2.99 I thought for the price it was worth it.
Sandy

Thanks. I will look into that.

Rob, if it helps I signed up to Amazon straight away, I figured if I waited until I got traffic, I could miss out on some commissions, so just did it anyway as I had reviews to write on products I had brought

So you were fine. The reason I hesitate is that some people here signed up with Amazon right away, didn't have the traffic, and Amazon closed their account because they did not make enough sales. Some have this opinion, some, another. Not sure what to do.

I think the only penalty would be they could cancel your account if you don't have any sales? You can't get any sales unless you sign up with them.

Very true. Thanks.

have a look into a tracking pixel plugin - this way you can find out which products are being clicked on - even before you are an amazon affiliate.
put your links there to amazon and find out which type of products your niche wants.

Very insightful. Thank you.

If you’re not signed up as an amazon affiliate it doesn’t benefit you at all to link to products on Amazon. People could go through your link and make purchases you’d make no commission. Amazon can’t penalize you in any way when you have no affiliation with them.

The time dimension is the only unknown!

What do you mean? How long will it take to get traffic and clicks?

How it plays out over time. Make Google Analytics your friend!

Thanks for that advice.

Does anyone know how to see or track your website traffic? How much traffic is good to have to really be in the game and get sales?

Google Analytic, it takes a bit of thought to use it, I'm trying again later today!
Colin

1) As mentioned by Mike, use the Google Analytic to see the activities in your site.

2) On this question, need to understand that traffic is something we build over time. And it's dynamic, it has high and low depends how Uncle G looks at your site. We can't rely 100% with G. Leverage social engagement via socail accounts you have might add boost to traffic to your site.

Agree with Trish, content is king. For long term existence, we need to create content for the site.

:)
Joe

As Trish says GA is your go-to source for this necessary analysis

Hey Robert,

Some highly profitable websites may have less traffic than you would imagine as being great, and they profit very well.

Yes, traffic helps... but content truly is king. You need to pick a hot niche and supply information that other sites are not offering in order to gain attention to your website quicker.

As for measuring your traffic... that is what Google Analytics can do for you. Check out the screen print below to see how you can access some really great tutorials that can guide you on using Google Analytics.

Hope this helps you.

I want to share my Google+ and other platforms for people to follow me, be there is a message saying, URLs cannot contain parameters. Others seem to have no problems sharing

I suppose my problem was that I need to copy and paste directly from the search bar.

You can share the compete URL within WA.
Most members put their SM links at the foot of their Profile.
As for other SM platforms you are best to cloak them with your own text such as - Follow Me Here
Robert

What is SM?

Initials for Social Media

Oh, thanks. Hard to keep up with all the abbreviations these days.

I have the same problem with lots of Initials.
Enjoy your Tuesday.
Robert

You too.

The parameters are probably the numbers/letters/sybols at the end of the link.
Best cloak the link using Pretty Links/Google/Bit.ly/Tinyurl etc etc.

Thanks. I removed some of the link numbers/letters at the end and then it worked.

all of the parameters is your link.
Does it still work after you removed them?
Could you leave it in a reply and I will test it.

Glad its sorted Rob well done

Thanks for your help.

Moe than welcome

:)

Where are you attempting to share this?

Are you referring to your google+ URL

I used URLs from various platforms. It may have been Facebook or Etsy that was causing a problem. Not sure.
